Mencegah Konflik di Aceh Strategi Komunikasi untuk Menjembatani TNI dan Eks Kombatan Gam

The Aceh conflict was one of the bloodiest conflicts in Indonesia which lasted for 30 years. Even though a peace agreement was signed in 2005, the potential for conflict still exists, especially between the TNI and former GAM fighters. This is caused by several factors such as distrust, past trauma, and lack of effective communication. The aim of this research is to analyze effective communication strategies in preventing conflict in Aceh, especially between the TNI and former GAM fighters. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical approach. Data collection was carried out by interviewing various parties, including the TNI, former GAM fighters, community leaders and researchers. The results of this research identified several effective communication strategies for preventing conflict in Aceh, including: First, establishing open and transparent communication between the TNI and former GAM fighters. This can be done through dialogue, regular meetings and joint action. Second, increase mutual understanding and tolerance between the TNI and former GAM fighters. This can be done through education and training on Acehnese culture and history. Third, build trust and mutual respect between the TNI and former GAM fighters. This can be done by showing a commitment to resolving problems peacefully and fairly. Fourth, civil society must be involved in conflict prevention activities. This can be done through community empowerment programs and peaceful conflict resolution. The conclusion of this research is that effective communication is the key to preventing conflict in Aceh. The communication strategy proposed in this research can help build trust and mutual respect between the TNI and former GAM fighters and encourage lasting peace in Aceh.

A Bargaining Theory of US–China Economic Rivalry: Differentiating the Trade and Technology Wars

Abstract This article examines the outbreak and persistence of US–China economic war, which comprises both the trade war, featured with retaliatory tariffs, and the technology war, featured with restrictions on Chinese access to US technologies. Building on the analytical framework of bargaining and war, I argue that different components of the economic war emerged from distinct causes. The outbreak of the trade war was primarily driven by the information problem, characterized by mutual uncertainty and the lack of effective communications. The technology war was largely a result of the commitment problem driven by the existing power’s concern regarding potential future changes in the balance of power. After examining the initiation stage during the Trump era, I further analyze how the economic war has unfolded during the Biden administration. While the prospect of a new trade war seems unlikely as mutual uncertainty diminishes, existing tariffs remain as the commitment problem on trade issues has become more critical. The preventive technology war is expected to persist, reflecting Washington’s ongoing concerns over China’s growing leadership in technology.

Examining the experiences of vulnerably housed patients visiting Kingston, Ontario’s emergency departments: a qualitative analysis

IntroductionVulnerably housed individuals access emergency departments (EDs) more frequently than the general population. Despite Canada’s universal public health care system, vulnerably housed persons face structural barriers to care and experience discrimination from healthcare providers. This study examines how vulnerably housed persons perceive their experience of care in the ED and Urgent Care Center (UCC) in Kingston, Ontario and aims to develop strategies for improving care for this group.MethodsAs part of a larger mixed-methods study, narratives were collected from participants attending the ED/UCC as well as community-based partner organizations, asking them to describe an experience of a recent ED visit (< 24 months). Participants could identify as members of up to three equity-deserving groups (EDGs) (for example homeless, part of an ethnic minority, having a disability, experiencing mental health issues). Coding and thematic analysis were completed for the experiences of participants who identified as being vulnerably housed (n = 171). Results were presented back to individuals with lived experience and service providers working with clients with unstable housing.ResultsParticipants reported judgement related to a past or presumed history of mental health or substance use and based on physical appearance. They also often felt unheard and that they were treated as less than human by healthcare providers. Lack of effective communication about the ED process, wait times, diagnosis, and treatment led to negative care experiences. Participants reported positive experiences when their autonomy in care-decision making was respected. Furthermore, having a patient-centered approach to care and addressing specific patient needs, identities and priorities led to positive care experiences.ConclusionsThe ED care experiences of vulnerably housed persons may be improved through healthcare provider training related to trauma-informed and patient-centered care and communication strategies in the ED. Another potential strategy to improve care is to have advocates accompany vulnerably housed persons to the ED. Finally, improving access to primary care may lead to reduced ED visits and better longitudinal care for vulnerably housed persons.

Parental barriers to implementing family-centred care in a neonatal intensive care unit in Islamic Republic of Iran.

Studies have shown short-term and long-term positive effects of family-centred care interventions on neonatal and maternal health, and developmental outcomes in neonatal intensive care units. However, some challenges and barriers limit implementation of family-centred care. To investigate parental barriers to implementing family-centred care in a neonatal intensive care unit in Islamic Republic of Iran. A conventional content analysis was conducted at a neonatal intensive care unit in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran from 2020 to 2021. Twenty semi-structured interviews and 9 field notes were conducted. The interview data were analysed using the Graneheim and Lundman method and the demographic data were analysed using SPSS version 21. Two themes emerged from the data analysis. The first theme was "inefficiency of playing the parental role", with 2 main categories of "face unpleasant feelings" and "inappropriate presence and participation". The second theme was "ineffective involvement of parents in the care", with 3 main categories of "lack of effective communication with personnel", "interference of parents in the treatment process", and "given insufficient information by parents". Parental barriers to the provision of family-centred care featured prominently in the study. Therefore, to improve neonatal and family health, there is a need for involvement, coordination and effective communication between the medical teams and parents to create a supportive and friendly environment in neonatal intensive care units.

Hassle and Tussle: The Challenges of Teachers in Carmen National High School

This research paper provided a concise overview of the study that aimed to understand and address the challenges of teachers at Carmen National High School. The research aimed to explore the challenges of teachers, particularly how the prevailing obstacles significantly impacted their instructional capabilities. It entailed assessing in-person teaching experiences, coping strategies for challenges, improvement efforts, and insights gained from these encounters. Anchored in David Kolb's Experiential Theory, the study employed phenomenology to subjectively explore conscious experiences. It identified emerging themes among the challenges, coping mechanisms, and educational insights, shedding light on the complex landscape of teaching. Through participant responses, challenges such as understanding the different learning styles of students, staying up to date with learning technology, and the lack of effective communication with students were revealed. Coping mechanisms included creating engaging lesson plans for students as well as behavior and classroom management. Educational insights encompasshaving the right attitude in teaching,professional development, and acknowledging students’ characteristics. The conclusion discussed implications for stakeholders and proposed future directions for customized professional development, enhanced communication, and student-centered approaches, emphasizing the significance of fostering an inclusive, technology-enhanced learning environment and contributing to ongoing educational research.

Stepping into the shoes of absent parents to provide educational support

Parental involvement is recognised as a significant factor in education globally. However, evidence suggests a scarcity of research focusing on parental involvement in education of vulnerable children in South Africa. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the perspectives of house parents at Sunshine Haven Children’s Home regarding parental involvement in the education of vulnerable children. Informed by Epstein’s theory of overlapping spheres of influence, the qualitative study adopted an interpretivist paradigm and a case study design. Data were obtained through focus group interviews with a group of five purposefully selected house parents at Sunshine Haven Children’s Home. The data were analysed using thematic analysis. The findings of the study reveal that, according to house parents’ perspectives, parental involvement in education for vulnerable children is not satisfactory. House parents experienced challenges in offering educational support, including lack of resources, lack of confidence in assisting with children homework and lack of effective communication between school and home. Therefore, the study recommends the forging of a viable partnership between teachers and house parents, the development of targeted interventions and training programmes and the allocation of resources to enhance parental involvement and ultimately improve the academic performance and wellbeing of vulnerable children.

Komunikasi Krisis Dalam Organisasi: Analisis Naratif Tentang Pengelolaan Konflik Internal

This research aims to examine internal conflict management in organizations through narrative analysis of crisis communication. Qualitative methods were used to understand the causes of conflict, crisis management strategies, leadership roles, the impact of conflict, communication techniques used, and policies and procedures implemented in the organization. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results revealed that internal conflicts are often caused by differences in interests, lack of effective communication, and organizational change. Effective crisis management strategies involve open communication, mediation, and a proactive approach. Responsive and thoughtful leadership plays a key role in conflict resolution. Poorly managed conflict negatively impacts productivity, employee morale, and team collaboration, and damages the organization's image. Communication techniques such as collaborative approaches and assertive communication are essential in managing crises. The practical implications of these findings are the need for the development of clear conflict resolution policies, conflict management training, promotion of open communication, and periodic evaluation of policy effectiveness. With a comprehensive approach, organizations can improve work dynamics and strengthen teamwork.

Predicting Student Performance in Online Learning: A Multidimensional Time-Series Data Analysis Approach

As an emerging teaching method, online learning is becoming increasingly popular among learners. However, one of the major drawbacks of this learning style is the lack of effective communication and feedback, which can lead to a higher risk of students failing or dropping out. In response to this challenge, this paper proposes a student performance prediction model based on multidimensional time-series data analysis by considering multidimensional data such as students’ learning behaviors, assessment scores, and demographic information, which is able to extract the characteristics of students’ learning behaviors and capture the connection between multiple characteristics to better explore the impact of multiple factors on students’ performance. The model proposed in this paper helps teachers to individualize education for students at different levels of proficiency and identifies at-risk students as early as possible to help teachers intervene in a timely manner. In experiments on the Open University Learning Analytics Dataset (OULAD), the model achieved 74% accuracy and 73% F1 scores in a four-category prediction task and was able to achieve 99.08% accuracy and 99.08% F1 scores in an early risk prediction task. Compared with the benchmark model, both the multi-classification prediction ability and the early prediction ability, the model in this paper has a better performance.

What are the experiences of student nurses with online learning? Do they have the necessary digital and technological competencies?

Background and objective: Student Nurses have been conventionally and predominantly taught face to face for several decades. A recent surge in teaching student nurses online in the last decade has been expedited by the onset of the covid-19 pandemic. A significant number of research on online learning, focuses on its effectiveness from an educator’s perspective. Exploring student nurses’ experiences with online learning in relation to their digital and technology skills readiness is pertinent to informing a student-led pedagogy. The research aims to explore the experiences of student nurses with online learning and if they are digital and technology skills ready for online learning or not.Methods: The study is a descriptive qualitative research, which utilises Interpretative phenomenological analysis and hermeneutic Interpretative phenomenology. Four pre-registration student nurses in a university in the South-East of England were recruited for the study. Individual face-to-face tape recorded semi-structured interviews were conducted with verbal and written consent from participants. Data collected was concurrently transcribed and analysed. Preliminary codes were given to the collected data to describe the contents. Interviews were then searched for patterns in the given codes from the transcripts. The themes that emerged were reviewed and refined with written up verbatim quotations from participants to support interpretations. A reflexive diary was kept by the researcher throughout the research, to reduce the likelihood of biases. Results: The themes that emerged from the collected and analysed data indicated that student nurses were digital and technology skills competent to engage in online learning. Online learning was deemed beneficial by all students although a preference for face-to-face learning was reported. Factors that inhibited students from fully engaging with online learning included internet hitches and the inability of nurse educators to use technology. A lack of effective communication between lecturers and students during online learning also marred the experiences of students. Environmental distractions at home and a lack of support from peers and lecturers during online learning were further cited as inhibitors for online learning.Conclusions: The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requires qualified nurses to have sound technology skills for care delivery. Considerations for online learning must include a prior technology skills competence assessment. The approach will ensure a level playing field for all students who engage in online learning. The appropriate support and interventions can be put in place for students who may not have the prerequisite level of technology skills to engage in online learning. Findings supports a blended learning approach with a student led digital and technology skills baseline assessment, prior to online learning. The approach will ensure a successful co-creation with an amalgamation with pedagogy.

Manajemen Konflik Interpersonal (Studi Kasus pada CV Cyber Karya Nusantara Surabaya)

Interpersonal conflict is something that cannot be avoided in organizations, one of which is at CV Cyber Karya Nusantara Surabaya. The aim of this research is to find out a picture of interpersonal conflict management at CV Cyber Karya Nusantara Surabaya. Descriptive qualitative methods were used in this research with data collection techniques obtained from interviews and observations. The results of this research indicate that interpersonal conflict at CV Cyber Karya Nusantara Surabaya is caused by the lack of effective communication between team members and the ongoing organizational transformation. The conflict resolution or conflict management used is to use accommodation, integration and avoidance styles. The accommodation and integration style is used by the chairman or superior to resolve interpersonal conflicts experienced by employees, while the avoidance style is used by employees who experience interpersonal conflicts at CV Cyber Karya Nusantara Surabaya.

Relationship between workplace violence and mental/physical health of security guards during the COVID-19 pandemic in Taiwan.

To investigate the relationship between workplace violence (WPV) and mental and physical health (MPH) of security guards during the COVID-19 pandemic in Taiwan. A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 15 representative security companies across northern, central, and southern Taiwan, and outlying islands from July 2021 to June 2022 during the COVID-19 pandemic. 1,200 questionnaires were distributed. A total of 1,032 valid questionnaires were collected. 13.18% of the participants reported that they had experienced WPV during the COVID-19 pandemic, including physical violence (PhV), psychological violence (PsV), verbal violence (VV), and sexual harassment (SH). The most common violence was VV (54.19%), followed by PsV (20.69%). Community residents and property owners were the primary perpetrators, followed by strangers. The study showed that the security guards who had experienced WPV had higher scores on the 12-item Chinese Health Questionnaire (Taiwan version) (CHQ-12), indicating poorer MPH than those who had never experienced WPV. The result showed that VV had strong correlations with the lack of effective communication, dissatisfaction with treatment and service attitude, and work stress. PsV was strongly associated with excessive waiting times. There were correlations among PhV, VV, and PsV and they had adverse impacts on MPH, except for SH. The study found that the primary perpetrators of WPV against security guards were community residents and property owners. The causes were the lack of effective communication, dissatisfaction with treatment and service attitude, excessive waiting times, and work stress, which further led to turnover intention and poor MPH. The findings of this study have useful implications and it is recommended to enhance the understanding of workplace violence against security guards and to formulate appropriate local and international strategies to address it.

Safety climate in the operating room in the pre-pandemic and pandemic period of COVID-19: A mixed method study.

To verify whether the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on the safety climate based on the perception of the multiprofessional team in the operating room and to analyze the domains of the safety climate during the pre-pandemic and pandemic period of COVID-19, demonstrating the intersections of quantitative and qualitative approaches. Mixed-method research using a convergent approach strategy, carried out in the operating room of a university hospital, located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The nature of the quantitative phase was cross-sectional, and the nature of the qualitative phase was descriptive. We used the Pillar Integration Process to integrate the data. This research considered the pre-pandemic period was defined as before March 2020 and for the pandemic period, the 2nd and 3rd global waves. Research was approved by the institution's board management and ethics committee. 145 health professionals participated in the quantitative approach, and 20 in the qualitative approach. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was highlighted in the domains 'Perceived stress' (p-value = 0.017); 'Working conditions' (p-value = 0.040). Six categories emerged from the qualitative analysis, namely: Stress and professional performance due to COVID-19; Patient safety protocols in the operating room; Responsibility for patient safety, lack of effective communication and performance feedback; Biosafety of the professional staff in the operating room; Security culture maturity; Fair culture, organizational learning, and reporting mistakes. As a result of the data integration, 6 pillars were identified: Perception of communication in the operating room; Evolution of safety culture; Overview of protocol management and implementation; Fair organizational culture; Perception of stress due to COVID-19; Perception of professional performance due to COVID-19. The impact that COVID-19 had on the safety climate in the operating room is evident. It underlines the need to implement strategies that support the solidification of attitudes aimed at patient safety, even in emergencies.

Implementation of School-Based Management at SD GMIM KOHA

This study aims to explore the implementation of school-based management in GMIM Ko Elementary School. The main focus of this study is the role played by school principals, school committees, and education commissions in managing and improving the quality of education in those schools. This study used a qualitative approach by adopting Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques. The data collection method involved in-depth interviews with principals, school committee members, and education commission members. Direct observation is also conducted to understand the dynamics of interaction between the three parties in the context of decision making and implementation of school-based management programs. The results of the study are expected to provide a clear picture of how principals, school committees and education commissions collaborate to achieve school-based management goals at GMIM Ko Elementary School. The implications of these research findings can be used as a basis for improving school-based management policies and practices in similar schools as well as contributing to the literature on the implementation of school-based management. Based on the results of the study revealed differences in understanding of the concept of School Based Management among school principals, education committees and education commissions. School principals focus more independently on managing resources, while education committees and commissions emphasize comprehensive management. This incomprehension can hinder SBM implementation, so training and modules are needed to improve understanding of concepts. Regarding the role of the principal, it is necessary to improve as educators, supervisors, and managers involving all stackholders. School committees need a greater focus on academic programs, while education committees play an important role as mediators and patrons of school ptograms. Obstacles to SBM implementation involve coordination constraints, lack of effective communication and busy stakeholders. Solutions include improved communication, understanding of roles and a culture of cooperation. The principal's proactive strategy with direct monitoring, limited consultation, efficient communication and quick decision making, plays a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness of SBM. This approach demonstrates pragmatism and flexibility in managing resources to achieve school goals.

Partisipasi Stakeholder dalam Pengembangan Kurikulum Pendidikan Islam di Pesantren

This research aims to analyze the obstacles and challenges in involving stakeholders in developing the Islamic education curriculum in Islamic boarding schools, how stakeholders contribute to each stage of the curriculum development process and recommendations for Islamic boarding schools and educational development policies related to the Islamic education curriculum in Islamic boarding schools. The method used in this research is the library research method, data was obtained from various sources such as scientific journals, books, seminar papers and other publications both offline and online. The data analysis model consists of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that obstacles and challenges that may arise include differences in views and priorities, limited time and resources, inequality of representation, technical challenges, politics and personal interests, lack of effective communication, resistance to change, and intimidation of results. Stakeholders contribute to each stage of the curriculum development process by identifying needs and objectives, designing materials and learning, selecting learning and evaluation methods, testing and assessing, and revising and adjusting. Recommendations for Islamic boarding schools and educational policies related to curriculum development include increasing stakeholder involvement, forming a curriculum development team, openness to innovation, and integrating religious values. For education policy, apart from support and recognition, development of training stakeholders, provision of resources, support for research and innovation and partnerships with Islamic boarding schools.

Challenges in promoting accountability and feedback mechanisms through customer complaints in the South African public service

The study examines whether the customer complaints management policy in the Department of Employment and Labour in the Free State province is effectively and efficiently implemented. Skilful and committed policy implementers are required to ensure that policies are implemented successfully. A descriptive qualitative research design was employed in this study using semi-structured online interviews, to gather data from 20 participants who were purposively selected. The major findings of the study reveals that a lack of clarity and accessibility of complaint channels, inadequate training of newly appointed officials in customer complaint management processes, and user-unfriendliness of the complaint processes flow are prohibiting factors of the implementation of the policy. Additionally, there was a lack of effective communication and coordination among both the internal and external stakeholders, and a noticeable absence of consequence management. The study recommend that the Department of Employment and Labour should consider to design a user-friendly customer complaints management processes flow as well as to incorporate customer complaints module during the induction of newly appointed employees.

Preferred Communication Strategies for People with Communication Disabilities in Health Care Encounters: a Qualitative Study.

People with communication disabilities (CDs), which includes disabilities in speech, language, voice and/or hearing, experience health and healthcare disparities. A barrier to accessing high-quality, equitable care is the lack of effective communication between patients and their providers. In designing a patient-prompted tool to facilitate communication, we analyzed qualitative feedback on communication strategies and the experience of people with CDs, caregivers, and providers in healthcare encounters. We aimed to describe communication strategies that patients with CDs find most useful and optimize a tool for patients to share their communication strategy preferences during clinical encounters. While patient-provider communication is paramount in every interaction, we aimed to highlight the intricacies of optimizing communication for this population. We performed a qualitative study utilizing focus groups and interviews with patients with CDs, their caregivers, and healthcare providers. A total of 46 individuals participated in focus groups or interviews; 26 participants self-reported a CD, nine were caregivers, and 11 were providers. Participants represented diverse types of CDs, including stuttering, aphasia, hearing loss, and people with autism or cerebral palsy who use assistive technology to communicate. Analysis of qualitative interview and focus group data was guided by a qualitative content analysis approach. We identified three themes: (1) While communication strategies should be individualized, participants agreed upon a consolidated list of best strategies and accommodations. We used this consolidated list to finalize tool development. (2) Patients and providers preferred disclosure of the CD and desired communication strategies before the appointment. (3) Providers often do not use communication strategies and accommodations during clinical encounters. For patients with CDs, it is critical to acknowledge and document the CD and individualize communication strategies during healthcare visits to facilitate communication. Studies are needed to evaluate whether improved communication strategy usage leads to improved health outcomes for this population.

A view from the top: A qualitative exploration of top-level health care leaders' perceptions on the implementation of simulation-based education in postgraduate medical education.

Although there is substantial evidence supporting the benefits of simulation-based education (SBE), its widespread and effective implementation remains challenging. The aim of this study was to explore the perceptions of top-level health care leaders regarding SBE and the barriers and facilitators that influence its wide implementation as part of the postgraduate surgical curricula in Denmark. We conducted semi-structured interviews with top-level health care leaders who were chosen based on their roles in ensuring high-quality patient care delivery and developing strategies to achieve the goals of the entire health care system. The interview transcripts were translated into English, and a thematic approach was used to code and inductively analyse the data. We used the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research to identify and understand the determinants to a successful implementation of SBE. We interviewed 13 participants from different political and administrative levels. We found that the participants had limited knowledge about SBE, which highlighted a disconnection between these leaders and the educational environment. This was further compounded by a lack of effective communication and inadequate information dissemination between simulation centres and higher-level organisations. While participants recognised the benefits of SBE for doctors in training, they expressed concerns about the implementation given the already strained health care system and limited resources. The need for evidence, particularly in the context of patient safety, was emphasised to facilitate SBE implementation. Although participants supported the implementation of SBE, it was unclear who should initiate action. This study highlighted the perspectives of top-level health care leaders regarding SBE and identified the determinant factors for a successful implementation. Effective communication channels are crucial to enhance collaborations and reduce the disconnection between the different health care organisational levels. Strategic implementation processes, including the roles and responsibilities, should be defined and established. These will inform decisions regarding the implementation strategies to effectively integrate SBE into the residency training curricula.

Exploring the challenges of curriculum advisors in schools in the Vhembe-West district, Limpopo province, South Africa

Monitoring and supporting teachers in the classroom, as well as the implementation of curriculum changes, pose problems in South Africa. This is due to an array of challenges such as a lack of resources, communication barriers within the Department of Basic Education (DBE) as well as a lack of proper infrastructure. In the research reported on here we investigated the challenges that curriculum advisors in the Vhembe-West district face and provides insight into some of their daily challenges. This could assist the international platform, especially as developing countries and other Third World Countries can benefit from the outcomes of this research. A qualitative research approach was used where 12 interviews were conducted with curriculum advisors in the Vhembe-West district. The interview questions were e-mailed to them beforehand so that they could familiarise themselves with the questions to be answered. Within a period of 2 weeks thereafter, interviews were conducted and recorded for analysis on Zoom or Microsoft Teams. The data were grouped and are presented in 5 different themes with the aim of highlighting the challenges as well as providing recommendations to deal with the challenges that curriculum advisors experience. The data reveal that curriculum advisors experience that they receive minimal support from their superiors and that the resources at their disposal also prove to be minimal. This study highlights the lack of resources, insufficient infrastructure, and lack of effective communication from management needed for proper curriculum implementation at schools.

Evaluating the impact of the metastatic spinal cord compression coordinator in a regional cancer network: a prospective, non- randomized pilot study.

Extradural metastatic spinal cord compression (MSCC) is a debilitating and potentially irreversible complication of cancer. Delay in treatment could lead to irreversible neurological damage, adverse quality of life and a burden on health care resources. Lack of effective communication between teams has been identified as one of the reasons for delay in treatment. The MSCC coordinator (often a nurse, radiotherapy radiographer or a doctor) is responsible for coordinating the diagnosis and management of patients with MSCC. The role has been shown to streamline service, ensure timely decision-making and improved survival outcomes. However, available data are anecdotal or from limited series presented as abstracts in conferences. In this study, we assessed the impact (time to treatment) of the newly introduced role on the treatment pathway compared to similar period in the preceding year. This was a multi-centre, prospective, pilot study carried out in Kent, UK between 1st April to 30th June 2021. Patients were considered eligible if they had MRI-confirmed cauda equina or cord compression. The data prospectively collected include: (I) time from diagnostic imaging to radiotherapy treatment; (II) number of referrals to hospital palliative care (HPC), occupational/physiotherapy (OPH) and community hospice referrals (CHP). A comparative retrospective data for (I) was collected for the same time period in the preceding year. The study outcome assessed was reduction in time from radiological diagnosis of MSCC to receiving radiotherapy. Fifty-eight patients in 2020 and 24 patients in 2021 were included in the dataset. The MSCC coordinator role (introduced in 2021) led to reduction in the time from imaging to treatment (P=0.045). Compared to 2020, there was a shorter mean/median time to treatment, seeing more patients being treated within 24 hours. All hospitals except East Kent Hospitals saw more patients being treated within 24 hours. 7 referrals each made to HPC, OPH and CHP respectively. Introduction of MSCC coordinator role led to improved time from imaging to radiotherapy treatment. The new service led to engagement with rehabilitative and palliative services. Future work should be done to assess the long-term impact of this role on utilization of support services and patient recovery.
