Dikotomi Ilmu Pengetahuan Dalam Islam Perspektif al-Ghazali

This article examines the dichotomy of knowledge in Islam from al-Ghazali's perspective. The emergence of al-Ghazali amidst the setbacks and divisions that occurred in the Muslim community due to differences in thought and understanding has had a major impact on the unity of the Muslim community. Al-Ghazali has given birth to new thoughts and, at the same time, created a scientific dichotomy among Muslims. Al-Ghazali has compartmentalized general knowledge with religious knowledge, thus creating a scientific dichotomy that never previously existed among Muslims. This type of library research uses a qualitative approach by examining various related references related to the theme of the article. This paper has produced several important findings. First, al-Ghazali's response to the crisis that occurred in society. Second, the scientific paradigm during al-Ghazali's time and before. Third, al-Ghazali's scientific paradigm and its influence on western and Islamic science; and fourth, al-Ghazali's influence on the dichotomy of science in the Islamic intellectual tradition. These four findings can reveal the great role of al-Ghazali's scientific paradigm and the influence of its dichotomy on the development of Islamic scientific civilization.

The Nature and Process of Meaning-Making in Text-Based Classroom Discussion of an American Islamic School

This study aimed to uncover how elementary school students and their teacher make meaning as they participate in text-based classroom discussion at an American Islamic school. One English language art teacher and 20sixth grade students participated in this study. We employed a case study design with classroom observation, field notes and documentation as tools for data collection. The gathered data were analyzed qualitatively. We found that the classroom talks in discussing textual information followed the traditional I-R-E (Initiate-Respond-Evaluate) pattern in which the teacher held control over turn-taking opportunities and interpretive authority. The students’ participations in this discourse were restricted to remembering facts, rules and procedures found in the text in which their responses were limited and brief. In contrast, the classroom talks about extratextual information as well as about Islamic knowledge and values were more dialogic in which the conversational flow was not directed by the teacher. The students’ responses were longer with elaborated explanation or reasoning to support their position. Their Islamic cultural backgrounds and practices also enabled them to extend the discussion and make better sense of the text. These findings indicate that teachers’ didactic strategy in conducting text-based classroom discussion shapes whether students would have meaningful interaction or not. We subscribe to the view that meaning of text and knowledge construction are not solely derived from the text or defined by one person. Instead, they can be co-constructed in dialogic discussion that challenges various voices, tensions and conflicts between members of the class.

PENINGKATAN MUTU SANTRI MELALUI IMPLEMENTASI INOVASI PROGRAM EKSTRAKURIKULER PESANTREN

Currently, there is a general view in the community that pesantren education does not only focus on being an institution for the study of Islamic knowledge, but must also be able to improve the existence of the quality of students through the development of programs outside of religion. One of these efforts is through the implementation of innovative pesantren extracurricular programs. This study aims to investigate implementation of extracurricular program innovations in improving the quality students in pesantren. This research is a literature study conducted with a qualitative approach. The sources and types of data used are secondary data in the form of scientific journals, books, skripsi and theses. There are findings that pesantren, in improving the quality their institutions, can reform through a variety extracurricular activities. Urgency improving quality students as a form of developing interests and talents, maintaining the mentality students in the pesantren and forming the identity students. The sustainability of extracurricular innovations is seen from vertical factors in the form of kyai leadership determining policies in pesantren and horizontal factors with regard to causes that intersect directly with students such as: coach strategies, support from fellow students, parents and collegiate, extracurricular SOP, availability of coaches, and support for facilities and infrastructure. Extracurricular program innovation by paying attention to the relevance of the times and the benefits obtained by students. Existence of extracurricular innovations produces graduates who are able to combine religious knowledge with general knowledge in accordance with the new times and the needs of society.

Research objective: To analyze the features of the Islamic culture of Khwarezm and the role of the Turkic languages in the dissemination of Islamic knowledge. Research materials: The article is based on information from various written sources and publications of Russian, Kazakh, Turkish source scholars and historians that shed light on the role of the Turkic languages in the religious culture of Khwarezm in the Golden Horde period. Results and scientific novelty: As a result of the study, the author comes to the conclusion that in Khwarezm, Islam was represented by various practices manifested in the organization of rituals, Mutazilism, Sufi teachings, and the cult of saints. In the pre-Golden Horde period, the Muslim written culture of the region was dominated by the Arabic, Persian, and Khwarezmian languages. From the middle of the 13th century, Turkic writings appeared in dictionaries, and from the 14th century, religious literature appeared in the Turkic language. The main settled centers of the Turkic languages of the Ulus Jochi were Volga Bulgaria, Khwarezm, and the Syrdarya territories. The close interaction of the Turkic-speaking peoples of these territories, coupled with the policy of a certain part of the political elite to support the use of Turkic languages, manifested itself in the growth in the number of works in Turkic languages and the beginning of the formation of a single Turkic literary language. In this complex process, Khwarezm played the role of repeating the Arab-Persian cultural traditions with the participation of a certain local Turkic component. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that, based on the analysis of sources and existing research, one can assume the development of the religious culture of Khwarezm based on the Arabic, Persian, and Turkic languages, which is confirmed by the increase in the number of works of a religious nature, the translation of the Holy Quran into the Turkic language, and the deve­lopment of Turkic religious terminology.

Semantic Analysis of Poetry in Ibnu Katsir's Exegesis and Its Learning in Islamic Boarding School

This study explores the utilization of poetry in Ibn Katsir's tafsir riwayah and its instructional methods at Miftahul Huda Manonjaya Islamic boarding school in Tasikmalaya. Employing a qualitative approach, precisely the analytical descriptive research method, the research delves into integrating poetry in Ibn Katsir's exegesis and its pedagogical implementation in the mentioned Islamic boarding school. The findings reveal that Ibn Katsir employed poetry to interpret one hundred and eleven verses, highlighting the substantial role of poetic expression in his approach to tafsir riwayah. The study categorizes Tafsir learning at the pesantren into formal and non-formal learning. Seven formal learning methods are identified: lecture, question and answer sessions, demonstration, drill, problem-solving activities, recitation, and discussions. Simultaneously, non-formal learning comprises five methods: wetonan (traditional Javanese calendar-based activities), sorogan (group recitation), muhawarah (dialogue), mudzakarah (group discussion), and majlis ta'lim (religious study sessions). In conclusion, this study contributes to understanding poetry's role in Ibn Katsir's tafsir riwayah. It elucidates the diverse instructional methods applied in Tafsir learning at Miftahul Huda Manonjaya Islamic boarding school. Integrating formal and non-formal methods underscores the comprehensive educational approaches to impart Islamic knowledge in the pesantren environment. Recommendations for future research include exploring the impact of specific poetic elements on students' learning outcomes and evaluating the effectiveness of integrating technology into Tafsir teaching at Islamic boarding schools.

 The purpose of this study is to discuss the explanation of football fanaticism from a hadith perspective. This research method uses a qualitative approach by applying a descriptive-analytical method with literature review and data analysis techniques taken through the stages of classification and interpretation. The results of the study show that Indonesia is one of the countries with the most fanatical and loyal Suporter bases in the world. This is based on the many football clubs in Indonesia. The size of Indonesia's Suporter base creates a dilemma, because in addition to having a positive impact, it also has a negative impact. This study concludes that fanaticism is an attitude that can be detrimental, so Islam forbids its followers to always dislike excess. This research is expected to have benefits for the development of general knowledge in the field of sports as well as social sciences and the treasures of Islamic knowledge, especially in the field of hadith studies.
 
 
 

Decolonialization of Contemporary Science According to Professor Syed M. Naquib al-Attas as the Aufklarung Movement in Islam

Through education, science is expected to be able to provide good and significant changes to human life. In realizing this, Muslim scholars are trying to develop established scientific theories in various fields based on the Islamic worldview. However, in the era of modernization and post-modernization, the Islamic scientific tradition is slowly losing the fundamental aspects of science, worldview and empistemology. In practice, epistemology is separate from theology, this separation is the impact of the secularization of science. Syed Naquib al-Attas is one of the contemporary Muslim scholars who initiated the Islamization of science as a response to the secularization of science, where he returned science to the Islamic scientific tradition. By using library research methods, furthermore, it is hoped that this research can elaborate on the concept of Islamization of science as an era of enlightenment (Aufklarung) developed by al-Attas became the basis of Islamic knowledge. This research finds that decolonialization of secular science is an important step in elaborating al-Attas towards the Islamization of contemporary science.

No doubt, Sindh has received a distinctive position as the first land in the sub-continent, where the light of Islam spread all over. The region of Sindh has produced many Muslim scholars who were famous all around the Islamic world. One of them was Sheikh Muhammad Hayat Sindhi (d. 1163 A.H). He was one of the most distinguished Islamic scholars, jurists, and prolific authors of the Hanafī School of jurisprudence from Sindh. He was widely regarded as one of the foremost experts of Hadīth and jurisprudential studies, as well as other religious disciplines including Islamic literature. Sheikh Hayat Sindhi was born in Sindh, He acquired basic early education from his father, and after that, he went to Thatta and received education from Muhammad Moin Thattavi and other renowned scholars of Thatta. Then he migrated to Harmain Shareef for higher education in Islamic disciplines. He chose to live in Madinah and started teaching at Masjid e Nabvi. He continued teaching of Hadith for 24 years in Masjid Nabvi at Madinah. He wrote many books on various topics of Islamic studies and the social problems of Muslim society. His books are well known and important amongst Islamic scholars, His books are rich with wisdom, etiquette and ethical values that have been abstracted and retrieved from the Holy Qur’an, Hadiths and jurisprudential approaches of prominent scholars and intellectual evidence. This study focuses on the brief biography of Sheikh Hayat Sindhi and his work in various fields of Islamic knowledge. This study is also undertaken in response to the deep sense of admiration and appreciation for the books of Sheikh Hayat Sindhi.

THE PLACE OF ARABIC IN THE CONDUCT OF WOMEN TAFSIR IN JOS METROPOLIS, NIGERIA

This research titled ‘The Place of Arabic in the conduct of Women Tafsir in Jos Metropolis’, discusses Arabic as language of Qur’an, Brief overview of the development of Tafsir and women Tafsir in Jos metropolis in relation to certain circles where women attain to the teaching and interpretations of the Glorious Qur’an. The research applies qualitative designed and employs the methods of sampling and interview using purposive sampling. The research selected six different Tafsir circles in Jos metropolis. It is discovered that most of the women Tafsir in the various circles are conducted by Muslim Male scholars of Islamic knowledge and those having higher qualifications in Arabic studies, using different Arabic books of Tafsir. Some of the Tafsir circles have been in existence for some years, there are few that are new. It has been discovered that most of the places where women attain Tafsir in Jos are self-funded, with inadequate equipment and lack of funds.

A comprehensive literature review was conducted, examining historical texts, manuscripts, and scholarly works related to the Ulama. The study employed qualitative analytical approaches to assess the contributions of Ulama in the Malay Archipelago. Findings indicate that Ulama significantly influenced Islamic economics by aligning economic practices with Sharia principles, emphasizing justice and ethical compliance. In scientific and mathematical fields, Ulama integrated complex mathematical concepts with Islamic teachings, contributing to the advancement of these disciplines. The educational impact of Ulama, particularly through the pondok system, promoted self-reliance and entrepreneurship, while their cultural synthesis effectively combined Islamic knowledge with local traditions. The Ulama’s roles extended beyond religious instruction, encompassing broader societal, economic, and intellectual domains. Their contributions not only facilitated the spread of Islam but also respected and preserved local customs. The study underscores the Ulama’s enduring influence in shaping the educational and intellectual landscape of the Malay Archipelago.

Meningkatkan Kreativitas Anak Di Desa Bandar Magodang Melalui Kegiatan Festival Anak

Community Service (PEMA) of the North Sumatra State Islamic University is one of the activities in Bandar Magodang Village. This children’s festival program is implemented to increase children’s self-confidence and creativity. The method for this children’s festival is the provision, training and practice method. 26 students were involved in the Bandar Magodang village sports hall. The children’s festival will be held on August 16 2023. In this activity there are 4 competition categories including coloring competition, call to prayer competition, short surah memorization competition and fashion show competition. This activity was attended by 52 children who were divided into 4 competition categories, namely a coloring competition for 10 children, an adhan competition for 6 children, a short surah memorization competition for 28 people and a Muslim fashion competition for 10 children. The Soleh Children’s Festival received a very good response from the people of Bandar Magodang village, because it is a very educational activity for children in Bandar Magodang village, especially in helping to increase children’s Islamic knowledge and self-confidence.

Women's Empowerment and Participation in Islamic Financial Planning Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Evidence from Maqasid al-Shari`ah

The study places a strong emphasis on women’s empowerment, given the quick changes in society that are occurring right now. Many women are pursuing various sorts of employment, including self-employment, in this era of economic liberalization and women's empowerment. However, this study aims to investigate the connection between Islam and women's empowerment by examining Maqasid al-Shari'ah perspectives on this matter. To have a thorough understanding of Islam and women's empowerment, it is imperative to consider the role played by women in the financial sector and their contribution to economic progress. Using an experiment, this study examined the relationship between confidence, gender, and race in dealing with a financial planner among various groups and races with colour and creed. The study's implications are significant for comprehending the obstacles and chances that under-represented groups encounter in pursuing financial planning success. The alignment of industry measures to raise the proportion of women and persons from varied backgrounds in the financial services sector led to the focus of this study on women and diversity. This essay examines the primary factors influencing diversity and the place of women in various financial management, CSR, and external corporate governance roles. This research also focuses on women's leadership and social diversity, focusing on female managers committed to fostering and maintaining equity and diversity inside their organizations. This study demonstrates how women plan financially for retirement based on psychological concepts and sociodemographic variables, highlighting the importance of financial management and planning for women. It showed a strong correlation between the investor's choice of investments and the strong relationship between the women's decision-making processes on the mental and financial levels. To assess the core idea of Maqasid al-Shari’ah from primary and secondary Islamic knowledge sources, which serves as a model for women's empowerment, and to pinpoint the obstacles to women's empowerment and participation in Islamic financial planning in terms of diversity, equity, and inclusion, this study employs the qualitative method.

The paper investigates the process of the genesis and establishment of infrastructural ideas that contribute to the dissemination of Islamic knowledge in the local Muslim community in the town of Bor, Nizhny Novgorod region in the period of the 1930s — early 2020s. The author analyzes how the infrastructure affects the practices of spreading Islamic knowledge in the local Islamic community and how the local Muslim community changes in the period of creation of infrastructure. The paper focuses on exploring the infrastructures for spreading Islamic knowledge in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods of the community’s life. The study is based on ethnographic material, interviews and archival materials, and presents how the creation of infrastructures changed the practices of spreading Islamic knowledge and the configuration of the local Muslim community. These changes exacerbated issues of power relations and the identifying of behaviour patterns within the community. Simultaneously new ideas were born within the community about community development, new infrastructure for disseminating Islamic knowledge and the formation of Muslim personalities. The Tatar community who initiated and organized the building of the Mosque has lost control over it, and it has become part of urban public space, a source of Islamic knowledge available to any Muslim in the town of Bor.

Pembentukan Karakter Islami di Desa Bolaromang

The Community Service Program (KKN) V for STIBA Makassar students aims to increase Islamic knowledge and religious skills in the people of Bolaromang Village, Buttono Pao District, Gowa Regency. Implementation of activities begins with mapping problems and needs using SOAR analysis. After analyzing the problems and needs, work programs are then prepared according to the needs of the community as a form of community service (PkM). The stages of PkM activities include: the observation stage, the preparation stage, the implementation stage, the mentoring stage, and the evaluation stage. Some of the programs/activities that have been successfully implemented are: Al-Qur'an Illiteracy Eradication, Religious Development, and the Saleh Children's Festival. From these activities, enthusiasm and support from elements of the village government, the taklim assembly, and the community were seen in quite large activities. The community feels the benefits after participating in this KKN program, including an increase in knowledge, insight and religious skills. The sustainability of this program is in the form of further coaching for the community, especially for fathers and youth.

The legacy of philosophy and education by Ibn Sina: The integration of knowledge and values in Islam

This study aims to describe the legacy of Ibn Sina about his thoughts in the field of philosophy and the integrity of science associated with values in Islam. The research method used is content analysis, data sources by collecting 30 articles through Google Scholar, the total articles studied amounted to 30 articles philosophy in the period 2022 to 2023. The results of research on the thoughts and legacy of Ibn Sina include, ethics, and education, which forms the basis of a strong understanding of the integration of science and values in Islam, especially in the context of philosophy and education. Ibn Sina is revered for his contributions to logic and science, with his famous work, "Al-Hikmat al-Masyriqiyyah," providing a solid foundation for the development of science and philosophical thought. Based on Ibn Sina's philosophical thought, Islamic educational institutions can incorporate Qur'anic learning into the curriculum, adopt philosophy learning strategies, ensure educators have a strong understanding of philosophy, improve mental development of learners, and focus on character building and discipline. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan warisan Ibnu Sina tentang pemikirannya di bidang filsafat dan keutuhan ilmu yang dihubungkan dengan nilai-nilai dalam Islam. Metode penelitian yang digunakan analisis konten, sumber data dengan mengumpulkan 30 artikel melalui google sarjana, total artikel yang diteliti berjumlah 30 artikel dalam kurun waktu 2022 hingga 2023. Hasil penelitian pemikiran dan warisan Ibnu Sina mencakup filosofi, etika, dan pendidikan, yang dasar membentuk pemahaman yang kuat tentang integrasi ilmu dan nilai-nilai dalam Islam, terutama dalam konteks filsafat dan pendidikan. A requirement for madrasas in RI. era 4.0 is the renewal of learning models because madrasas are Islamic educational institutions whose existence is crucial because they are institutions that teach the fundamentals of Islamic knowledge that must be transmitted and followed by all generations of Muslims. This learning strategy attempts to achieve a more ideal meaning, especially in Fiqh subjects, which are significant in Islamic education and can be used as supplementary time, requiring only two hours of lectures or one face-to-face meeting per week. Study to make it simpler to accomplish learning goals. Additionally, a qualitative descriptive research approach is used in this study. The researcher discusses how the blended learning strategy was planned, put into practice, and evaluated in order to enhance student learning outcomes at MTs Miftahul Ulum Pandanwangi Tempeh Lumajang. The Qurʾān and Knowledge of God in West Africa: The Sufi Tafsīr of Shaykh Ibrāhīm Niasse

Abstract Qurʾān exegesis (tafsīr) in African Muslim societies represented the pinnacle of scholarly achievement, and public explanation of the Qurʾān was the event that marked the emergence of one of Africa’s most successful Sufi revivals, the “Community of the Flood” of the Senegalese Shaykh Ibrāhīm Niasse (d. 1975). Niasse’s network of knowledge transmission, foregrounding the direct experiential knowledge of God (maʿrifa bi-Llāh), continued to emphasize Qurʾān learning, but Niasse’s own recorded Arabic tafsīr demonstrated a shift away from traditional West African sources in this field. Prior understandings of the West African tafsīr discipline locate the fifteenth-century Egyptian Tafsīr al-Jalālayn as the primary influence on West African understandings. But Niasse’s tafsīr exhibits a clear preference for an early eighteenth-century Ottoman multivolume work, Ismāʿīl Ḥaqqī’s “Spirit of Explanation” (Rūh al-bayān), one of the most comprehensive summaries of Sufi understandings of the Qurʾān. This paper not only demonstrates the globally-connected nature of Islamic knowledge production in West Africa but also argues that Niasse’s emphasis on gnosis built on the Rūḥ al-bayān to ultimately occasion a noteworthy addition to the existing literary corpus of Qurʾān exegesis.

Implementing Justice and Realizing Political Process in the Islamic-Iranian Model of Progress

Introduction. The Islamist model of Iran assumes understanding national values and recognizing rights of indigenous peoples, seeks to meet the material and spiritual needs of society. This model has epistemological, ontological, and anthropological foundations rooted in the revelatory and ideological teachings of Islam. Its content, therefore, is based on monotheism, resurrection, and the inseparability of the worlds. The process of political development in the Islamic-Iranian model is progress based on divine and Islamic knowledge, arising from the heart, historical, indigenous, and cultural conditions of our country, which are realized in the context of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The importance of the research is that, by explaining the indicators of political development, it outlines how the will to achieve it forms in society. Methods and materials. To achieve the desired development and stand up against adversities and sanctions, we must identify our needs, limitations, and political, social, and economic harms and take action to solve them, then keep pace with the new global developments. The strategies considered for data analysis in the present study are in the framework of a qualitative method and based on a descriptive-analytical approach. Analysis. The study raises these questions: what indicators comprise the Islamic-Iranian model of progress’s political development, and how can this model achieve sustainable political development? The results of the study show the indicators of political development in the model are in accordance with the Sharia, and the context of sustainable political development is achieved by committing to implementing justice in the policy-making environment of society.

Artificial Intelligence and Islamic Thought: Two Distinctive Challenges

Abstract: The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) has presented novel questions across various intellectual and theological landscapes. This article seeks to explore two distinctive challenges that AI poses to Islamic thought. First, it examines the potential role of AI in Islamic knowledge production and scholarship, questioning the feasibility of an AI-powered religious authority, the concept of the iMufti and techno- madhhabs , along with capabilities to contribute to the chains of transmission and issue religious edicts ( fatāwā ). The second challenge delves into the implications of AI on the Qur'ān's claim of linguistic inimitability ( i'jāz ), investigating whether an AI, when taught the complexities of Arabic and literary composition, could potentially meet the Qur'ān's challenge to produce a text of comparable stature, thus probing the foundational assertions of the Islamic worldview. The article provides preliminary reflections aimed at spurring further scholarly inquiry into the intersection of AI and Islamic thought.
