1. 1. LDH isozyme patterns have been analyzed in whole liver and two readily separable tissue fractions, “liver cells” and “connective tissue”, from late fetal, neonatal and juvenile mouse, rabbit, cat, pig, guinea-pig and hamster. 2. 2. A formula containing a term for the heterogeneity of the isozymes is used for the characterization of isozyme patterns (IEP) in these multicellular sources. 3. 3. The results imply that during development changes occur both in the isozyme patterns within the cell lines constituting the liver and in the proportions between different cell lines.
