This special issue of Materials Science and Engineering Technology (Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik) contains selected papers presented at the 15th International Conference on Advanced Computational Engineering and Experimenting (ACE−X 2022) held at the Hilton Florence Metropole hotel during the period 3rd – 7th July, 2022. The included papers are related to advanced structured materials, their design and analysis, and advanced manufacturing and processing techniques. The goal of the conference was to provide a unique opportunity to exchange information, present the latest results as well as review the relevant issues on engineering mechanics research today. Young scientists were especially encouraged to attend the conference presenting first results and to establish international networks with well-known scientists. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the conference was organized in hybrid mode, which means that some presentations were live streamed, some were recorded, and other were presented at the conference venue. More than 233 papers were submitted by researchers from 33 countries. The organizers wish to thank the authors and delegates for their participation and cooperation, which made the conference possible. During the conference, special sessions related to EXPERIMENTAL AND COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS (session chair Prof. Chin-Hsiang Cheng), PLASTICITY AND CONSTITUTIVE MODELLING (session chairs Prof. A. Öchsner and Dr. Ralf Landgraf), BIOMECHANICS, BIOMATERIALS, BIOMECHATRONICS AND BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS (session chair Prof. J.A. Beltrán Fernández), NANOMATERIALS (session chair Dr. N. Sakharova and Prof. V.A. Eremeyev), MULTIFUNCTIONAL MATERIALS (session chairs Prof. S. Gonzalez Prolongo and Dr. A. Jimenez Suarez), HIGH POTENTIAL COMPOSITES TRENDS FOR FUTURE CHALLENGES IN ENGINEERING SCIENCE: FROM EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES TO MODELLING APPROACHES (session chairs PD C. Jochum and Prof. A. Jung), EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS AND MODELLING IN POLYMER MECHANICS: STATE OF THE ART AND FUTURE TRENDS (session chairs Dr. K. Loos, Prof. L. Laiarinandrasana and Prof. Y. Marco), OPTIMIZATION OF STRUCTURES AND COMPONENTS (session chairs Prof. P.A. Muñoz-Rojas, Dr. M. Vaz Jr.), NUMERICAL MODELING OF STRUCTURES (session chairs Prof. A. Harapin, Prof. B. Trogrlic, and Prof. M. Galic), ADVANCE SCIENTIFIC VISUALISATION FOR MULTIDISCIPLINARY ENGINEERING (session chairs Prof. D. Vučinić and Prof. S. Janardhanan), and ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING: PROCESS CONDUCT, MATERIAL MODELLING, APPLICATION AND OPTIMIZATION (session chairs Prof. M. Merkel and Dr. L. Hitzler) were organised. The opening lectures were given by Prof. Francesco dell′Isola – Università dell'Aquila, Italy (SYNTHESIS OF METAMATERIALS: NEW EХРERIMENTAL, NUMERICAL AND THEORETICAL CHALLENGES), by Prof. Alexander Lion – Universität der Bundeswehr München, Germany (POLYMER ENGINEERING IN INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS – TRENDS AND CHALLENGES), and by Dr. Lidiia Nazarenko – Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, Germany (ON THE UNIQUENESS OF THE SOLUTION AND THE VARIATIONAL PRINCIPLES WITHIN THE LINEAR COUPLED STRAIN GRADIENT ELASTICITY). This special issue contains the revised version of papers, which were submitted to the conference. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the representatives of WILEY-VCH, in particular to Dr.-Ing. Jörg Ellermeier, Editor of Materials Science and Engineering Technology, who made this special issue possible. Finally, we wish to express our gratitude to our colleagues, associates and friends for their sustained assistance, help and enthusiasm during the preparation of the conference.
