In this letter, a metal-frame mobile antenna for Long-Term Evolution (LTE)/wireless wide area network (WWAN) smartphone application using a novel matching network is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of two parts, a typical inverted-F antenna for the low band, and an asymmetric T-slot for the high band. By means of multibranch technology based on matching circuit, the proposed design occupies a small part of the space surrounding the ground with only 1 mm ground clearance, which makes it a very competitive solution for full-screen phones. Finally, it completes the LTE 824–960 MHz and 1710–2690 MHz. The designed procedure and working mechanism of the antenna are discussed in detail. A prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated and measured, and both simulated and experimental results are presented and discussed.
