In China, the interaction between youth Internet subcultures and the dominant culture has reached a new stage of development. Based on Danmu’s videos and comments on the Bilibili website, this paper examines the relationship between Chinese youth Internet subculture and dominant culture by analysing the New Year party held on this website, the videos released by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth Union of China, and the comments, and draws the following conclusions: under the call and guidance of the dominant culture, youth groups are no longer confined to their original niche subcultural circles, they add elements of positive energy such as patriotism, and show a certain tendency towards the dominant culture. Members of the dominant culture also takethe initiative to break down barriers and use the symbols of the youth Internet subculture to get youth groups to adopt the values and cultural concepts of the dominant society. Both cultures have gone from erecting barriers of opposition at the initial stage to actively approaching, discussing and interacting with each other, and the mutual reconciliation between the youth Internet subculture and the dominant culture gradually forms a balanced and harmonious mode of living together - the two cultures influence each other and develop separately, cautiously interact and boldly innovate. This study identifies the types of youth Internet subcultures in China, and the findings enrich the research ideas of the relationship between subcultures and dominant cultures, have certain theoretical significance as well as practical significance for the management and good development of youth Internet subcultures in China.
