Issues Surrounding PACS Archiving to External, Third-Party DICOM Archives

In larger health care imaging institutions, it is becoming increasingly obvious that separate image archives for every department are not cost effective or scalable. The solution is to have each department's picture archiving communication system (PACS) have only a local cache, and archive to an enterprise archive that drives a universal clinical viewer. It sounds simple, but how many PACS can truly work with a third-party Integration of the Health Care Enterprise Compliant Image Archive? The answer is somewhat disappointing.

CIDP— on workflow-based client integration in complex client oriented design projects

Today's attendance companies tend strongly upward to "client orientation" by focusing on adjusting products to special needs and designing internal processes to fit variable customer requirements. For any kind of client-centred projects the degree to which customers take part in the design decision becomes of utmost importance. In this paper we will demonstrate innovative concepts we are validating which support a co-operative design of manifold projects. Our approach is based on the process-centred view of product development projects. We focus on workflow-based integration of third parties (i.e. customer and adviser) in controlling and influencing the project's progress directly by using the Internet and present a solution to meet the specific requirements for the workflow management.
