Spatial Characteristics Visualization of Transfer Point Infrastructure

The government's efforts to increase public transport users in Palembang by providing public transport such as LRT, Teman Bus and angkot feeder LRT Musi Emas. The previous research shows that there are still deficiencies in public transport services. The condition of physical integration between public transport, such as no bus stop, inadequate sidewalk facilities and even in some locations they are not available, no crossing bridges, no lighting, no information on routes, schedules and several other things. Based on these conditions, this research will study physical integration between public transport modes by visualizing the spatial characteristics of transit point facilities in Palembang City. The method used for visualization is a mapping model using the GIS 10.8 application. The results of this research show that the districts with the most transfer points in Palembang are Ilir Timur I and Alang-Alang Lebar which have LRT stations, bus stops and river mode infrastructures. The results of this research can be used as a reference for improving public transport physical integration in Palembang in areas served by public transport. The visualization results of transfer point users in Palembang have shown that Ilir Barat I and Sukarame Districts have the highest number of users of transfer points infrastructure LRT station. Based on this research, it is known that the availability of transfer points infrastructure is not necessarily accompanied by a high number of public transport users in one sub-district when compared to other sub-districts. This is partly due to inadequate condition of physical integration between public transport.

Quality of Health Promotion and Attitude Towards Health Wellness of University Students

This study explores the quality of existing physical health promotion initiatives and attitudes toward health wellness among college students in physical health care classes. Using a mixed-method approach, the research assessed various aspects of health promotion, including physical and medical integration strategies, academic support, and resource availability. A total of 296 respondents participated, providing insights into the effectiveness of current programs and the factors influencing students’ attitudes toward physical, emotional, mental, and social wellness.Findings revealed that while students generally rated the quality of health promotion initiatives positively, freshmen reported significantly higher levels of satisfaction compared to sophomores. Additionally, emotional wellness was identified as the most prioritized aspect of health, whereas mental wellness was rated lower, highlighting the need for more comprehensive mental health support. The study also found a significant relationship between the quality of health promotion initiatives and students' attitudes toward health wellness, suggesting that well-designed health programs can positively influence students' overall well-being.

The present work aims to study and analyze the requirements, practical applications and limits for the configuration of self-defense, which excludes illegality and can be used when the offended individual uses moderately the necessary means to repel the unjust aggression committed against himself or another, when the State is unable to protect the physical integrity of the citizen. This research seeks to understand how far this right extends and what its legal and social implications are, using as a source the study of the Brazilian Penal Code, case law, doctrines and scientific works. However, the analysis aims at an in-depth understanding of the institute of self-defense, contributing to the social and academic debate on the defense of this fundamental right.

Preserving nets, protecting children: an evaluation of factors influencing the utilization and physical integrity of long-lasting insecticidal nets among under-five children in Osun State, Nigeria.

Malaria remains a significant public health challenge in Africa where it is the most important vector-borne disease. Nigeria bears the largest burden, with pregnant women and children under 5years being more affected. Although, long lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) remain effective for control, its use has been suboptimal. Hence this study assessed, household ownership, physical integrity and use of LLINs among children. A community-based, cross-sectional study was carried out among 1642 households using a multistage sampling technique in Osun State, Nigeria. A pretested, interviewer-administered questionnaire was used to obtain information on socio-demographic characteristics and use among under-fives. LLINs were inspected for physical integrity and cleanliness. A binary logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify factors influencing LLIN use by under-fives. The mean age of children was 32.2 ± 16.5months. Most households, 1586 (96.6%) had an LLIN while 165 (10.4%) did not hang their net. Holes were present in LLINs in 360 (22.7%) households and 196 (12.4%) had dusty or stained nets. Most households, (1259; 79.4%), had at least one LLIN for every 2 household members and survey participants reported that 1331 (83.9%) under-fives slept under an LLIN the night before the survey. Factors associated with reported LLIN use were; older parents/guardians aged 50-59years (AOR: 3.02; 95% CI 1.50-6.09), having a post-secondary education (AOR: 2.56; 95% CI 1.31-5.00), having LLIN obtained < 12months (AOR: 4.27; 95% CI 2.39-7.64), households with one LLIN for every 2 members (AOR: 1.65; 95% CI 1.15-2.37) and households with clean nets (AOR 2.75; 95% CI 1.89-4.00) had increased odds of reported LLIN utilization by under-five children. Although LLIN ownership and reported use were high in this study, gaps exist between ownership and reported use of LLINs. About one-fourth of LLINs had poor physical integrity. To maximize LLIN effectiveness in households, it is important to ensure the continued free distribution of nets and emphasize messages to parents/guardians on proper care, maintenance, and use of nets.

Exploring the protective role of jelly capsules in jelly‐nest tree frog eggs based on proteomic and peptidomic studies

AbstractTypically, frog eggs are aquatic, being deposited and undergoing development within freshwater habitats. However, certain species within the Rhacophoridae have evolved reproductive modes that are non‐aquatic. The jelly‐nest tree frog (Feihyla palpebralis) has terrestrial eggs that are enclosed in gel, with embryos detaching from the aquatic milieu during the embryonic phase. The jelly enveloping these embryos performs a critical role in defense against biotic and abiotic threats in the terrestrial environment. To investigate the protective function of the jelly, we characterized its proteome and peptidome. In total, 83 proteins were identified and categorized into eight main groups: protease inhibitors, glycoproteins, cytoskeleton proteins, nucleotide‐binding proteins, regulatory proteins, metabolic enzyme, glycoprotein hormones, and oxidative stress‐related proteins. These proteins are believed to play a role in protecting the eggs by creating biochemical and physical barriers, maintaining moisture and structural integrity, and preventing oxidative damage. In addition, 1642 peptides were isolated from tree frog jelly envelopes. Among these, RPPGFSPFR showed predator deterrent properties, LPF and AVPYPQ performed anti‐inflammatory and antioxidant activities, and IYSP functioned as a proteinase inhibitor. These findings help to clarify the protective mechanisms involved in the egg development process of the jelly‐nest tree frog.

ANÁLISE DE RISCOS NA PRODUÇÃO DE FRIGORÍFICOS: ESTRATÉGIAS PARA PREVENÇÃO E CONTROLE

This paper is a scientific article whose theme is the analysis of risks in the production of meatpacking plants: strategies for prevention and control. In this environment, workers face physical risks, biological risks and risks of accidents. This is because, in meatpacking plants, we find places where the temperature is extremely low (usually below 0º). Therefore, the function of the PPE provided is to provide safety to avoid humidity, low temperatures, noise, injuries caused by sharp instruments and biological contamination. What strategies should be adopted to prevent and control the occurrence of accidents and/or the spread of diseases in the production line of meatpacking plants, based on risk analysis? The general objective is: to describe what risk management is as well as the best way to apply it in a meatpacking plant to prevent accidents and control occupational diseases. The specific objectives are: to characterize what risk analysis and management are in a meatpacking plant; to present the main characteristics of the production environment as well as the main precautions that should be taken to ensure the physical integrity of the worker; describe the guidelines set out in NR-32 and its determinations for occupational health and safety, especially in companies that work with the slaughter and processing of meat and meat products. Exploring Dance Movement Therapy in Rehabilitation Settings

Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is an integrative and expressive therapeutic approach that uses movement and dance to promote emotional, cognitive, physical, and social integration in individuals. This paper examines the historical development, theoretical foundations, and practical applications of DMT in various rehabilitation settings, highlighting its potential to address the multifaceted rehabilitation needs of clients. Empirical evidence supports the efficacy of DMT in enhancing physical coordination, social cohesion, cognitive functions, and emotional well-being. The review discusses the challenges DMT faces in modern therapeutic contexts and emphasizes the need for further empirical studies to establish its long-term impact compared to traditional rehabilitation protocols. Selected issues regarding children’s rights in the war on terror with a particular focus on Syria

Abstract The aim of the article is to analyse the legal situation of the children held in camps in northeast Syria. The situation in the camps is devastating and poses a threat to the children’s right to life as well as physical and mental integrity. The article explores whether the states of citizenship of these children exercise any jurisdiction over them, and if the answer is affirmative, to what extent they exercise this jurisdiction. Next, the research will focus on the question of whether the states of citizenship have the obligation to repatriate those children from Syria. To this aim, the status of these children as victims of human trafficking will be also examined. Lastly, the deliberations will focus on the policy of citizenship revocation that is applied by some states in terrorism combatting and it will be studied whether this policy can be applied to children in conformity with international law. It results from the analysis that states have obligations towards children placed in the Syrian camps being their nationals, especially an obligation to repatriate them and to enable their rehabilitation and reintegration.

[Translated article] Approach and management of patients injured by bullfighting trauma

Introduction: Bullfighting festivals are attributed to the cultural idiosyncrasies of the Ibero-American people, posing an extreme risk to the physical integrity of the participants. Spain is considered the country with the highest number of bull-related celebrations worldwide and, therefore, with the highest number of patients injured by bullfighting trauma treated, thus justifying a public health problem. The generalities associated with this type of trauma define the people injured as polytraumatised patients. In addition, it is important to know the kinematics of the injuries and their specific characteristics, in order to implement quality medical-surgical care.Methods: scientific review of the literature to promote a comprehensive guide for the medical-surgical management of patients injured by bullfighting trauma.Results: We described the guidelines to standardise protocols for in-hospital approach of patients injured by bullfighting trauma.Conclusions: Bullfighting trauma is considered a real health problem in the emergency departments of the ibero-Americans countries, especially in Spain, where bullfighting is part of the national culture. The inherent characteristics of these animals cause injuries with special aspects, so it is important to know the generalities of bullfighting trauma. Because of the multidisciplinary approach, these guidelines are adressed to all healthcare providers involved in the management of these patients. It is essential to establish particular initial care for this type of injury, specific therapeutic action and follow-up based on the medical-surgical management of the trauma patient in order to reduce the associated morbidity and mortality.

Evaluation of Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Bi-In-Sn/WO3 Composites for Efficient Heat Dissipation.

Phase change materials (PCMs) offer promising solutions for efficient thermal management in electronic devices, energy storage systems, and renewable energy applications due to their capacity to store and release significant thermal energy during phase transitions. This study investigates the thermal and physical properties of Bi-In-Sn/WO3 composites, specifically for their use as phase change thermal interface materials (PCM-TIMs). The Bi-In-Sn/WO3 composite was synthesized through mechanochemical grinding, which enabled the uniform dispersion of WO3 particles within the Bi-In-Sn alloy matrix. The addition of WO3 particles markedly improved the composite's thermal conductivity and transformed its physical form into a putty-like consistency, addressing leakage issues typically associated with pure Bi-In-Sn alloys. Microstructural analyses demonstrated the existence of a continuous interface between the liquid metal and WO3 phases, with no gaps, ensuring structural stability. Thermal performance tests demonstrated that the Bi-In-Sn/WO3 composite achieved improved thermal conductivity, and reduced volumetric latent heat, and there was a slight increase in thermal contact resistance with higher WO3 content. These findings highlight the potential of Bi-In-Sn/WO3 composites for utilization as advanced PCM-TIMs, offering enhanced heat dissipation, stability, and physical integrity for high-performance electronic and energy systems.

Enhancing Urban Connectivity and Regeneration of Historic Areas: Case Study of Heart of Sharjah

This study employs the integrative design process of sustainable urban regeneration of the historical district in Sharjah city in UAE by It also improves physical and visual connectivity and integration within the neighbourhood and among the surrounding areas to encourage walkability in the district provides a liveable community, and increase accessibility and social interaction. Applying comprehensive design strategies to promote connectivity and revitalize the public places in historical district. The study employs a combination of field studies and parametric simulation tools to investigate the district and identify opportunities for improvement. By optimizing the master plan, the research aims to enhance integration and connectivity within the neighbourhood. The study yielded several significant findings; most notable was the increment of the integration value of the optimized master plan by approximately 41% in comparison with Shurooq proposed master plan 2025, as a result of improving the urban configuration, the street network enhances the connection between the old district and the waterfront, and introducing a central plaza to be connected with Al Rola park to achieve the holistic desired approach. The study's outcomes offer practical implications for urban planners and policymakers in the Gulf Region, highlighting the importance of integrative design strategies in fostering sustainable urban regeneration and improving social interactions within historical districts. The study contributes to the promotion of sustainable urban development methods in the Gulf Region by providing insights into how to improve social interactions, promote a holistic approach to urban regeneration in historical districts, and enhance urban sustainability.

Field evaluation of Yorkool ®, a long-lasting insecticidal net after 12 months of use in Seme, Kisumu County, Kenya

Background: Physical integrity and insecticidal efficacy of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) is influenced by the handling practices during use. This was an evaluation of Yorkool® pyrethroid-based LLINs after 12 months of use to determine the washing and drying practices, physical conditions and bio-efficacy. Methods: This was a cross-sectional household survey in an area where rectangular Yorkool® a pyrethroid LLINs were distributed during national mass net distribution campaign in 2021. Questionnaires were used for data collection and bioassay tests were done from thirty randomly selected nets. Results: 262 household heads were interviewed with their mean age being 46.9 years (SD 17.4 years) and level of education was mainly primary (70.2%). Most households (71.8%) had 1 to 2 sleeping spaces. The households had a total 468 LLINs with 95.1% having been washed at least once. About three-quarters (74.4%) of the LLINs had been washed using local bar soap, with 99.6 % having not been scrubbed on hard surface during washing and 72.1% were dried under a shade. Those evaluated for physical integrity and had at least one hole made up 77.8% of the nets and 57.2% were too torn and requiring replacement. Bio-efficacy test recorded a mean KD of 92% after 1 hour, and mean mortality of 86% after 24 hours. The nets that passed the WHO efficacy cut off for mortality (≥80%) after 24 hours were 83.3% and 70% passed the KD (≥95%) cut off after 1 hour. Conclusions: While more than a half of the Yorkool® LLINs needed replacement due to poor physical integrity after one year of use in the households, the bio-efficacy of the LLINs was relatively high with the mortality on vectors meeting the WHO threshold

A nurse-led multidisciplinary service for Nipple-Areola complex tattooing after breast cancer: reporting on a complex intervention with TIDieR analysis

BackgroundThe Nipple-Areola Complex (NAC) tattooing can restore physical and mental integrity after breast cancer, but it is not always easily accessible for women. This paper aims to report on the development of a multidisciplinary nurse-led service for NAC tattooing for women who underwent breast cancer surgery with NAC removal to allow its thorough review and replication.MethodsThe Medical Research Council’s framework for developing complex healthcare interventions was followed. According to the results of a literature review, and the context analysis, an initial intervention was planned. The Template for Intervention Description and Replication checklist was chosen to ensure the quality and completeness of the intervention description.ResultsThe Breast Unit and the Research departments were engaged; three nurse-tattooists were selected; the informative material was created and shared with patients, families and local associations, involving them actively. Finally, the setting and the materials were defined. A monthly schedule of activities was set: patients with the indication for NAC tattooing were contacted by the nurse case manager. Each treatment involves 3–4 sessions, 30–40 days apart, in an ambulatory setting. It consists of NAC shaping and tattooing with a dermographer and sterile needles.ConclusionImplementing freely and equally multidisciplinary nurse-led clinics might provide this treatment ensuring the patient’s quality of life and nurse competence. The NAC tattooing is a complex intervention that represents the final part of the breast cancer surgical care pathway.

A new variant of the electromagnetic field theory of consciousness: approaches to empirical confirmation.

There are various electromagnetic (EM) field theories of consciousness. They postulate an epineural EM field which, due to its binding properties, unifies the different neuronal information differences originating from various sensory and cognitive processes. Only through a real physical integration in space within this field could phenomenal consciousness arise. This would solve the binding problem mentioned in the philosophy of mind. On closer inspection, the electromagnetic interaction not only provides an explanation for the integrative property of the EM field, but also for the necessary differentiating contrasts of information. This article will take a closer look at the physical properties of a postulated EM field. It will also show how the problem of qualia in connection with emergentism could be solved by a new variant of EM field theory. If it can be clearly demonstrated that the postulated epineural EM field plays a decisive role in the origin of consciousness in addition to neuronal "wired" information processing, this also leaves less room for metaphysical assumptions that attempt to solve the binding problem. In experiments to prove the postulated epineural EM field by means of external electromagnetic manipulations, it can never be ruled out that these also have a direct effect on the "wired" neuronal signal processing. Therefore, on the way to proving the EM field theory of consciousness, an experimental method is needed that must ensure that external manipulations only affect the extensions of the EM field without directly influencing the neuronal network. A method will be discussed here that works with the shielding of EM fields instead of external electromagnetic stimuli.

Recent Progress in Electro‐Optic Modulators: Physical Phenomenon, Structures Properties, and Integration Strategy

AbstractElectro‐optic modulators (EOMs), serving as indispensable components within photonic integrated circuits, are essential for enabling energy‐efficient, high‐speed, and high‐capacity optical communication systems. This review illustrates the principal physical phenomenon exploited in EOMs and provides a comprehensive analysis of the cutting‐edge EOMs featuring interference structures (Mach–Zehnder modulators and Michelson‐interferometer modulators) and resonance structures (microring modulators, racetrack modulators, and photonic crystal modulators). The comparative analysis of the performance merits and limitations in EOMs is presented, highlighting the combination of diverse electro‐optic material compositions with different optical structures, which reveals a promising integration strategic so as to pursue a trade‐off in modulation performance. It is contributed to the ongoing discourse on optimizing EOMs for the subsequent communication technologies and the advancement of photonic chips.

Enhanced Drag Force Estimation in Automotive Design: A Surrogate Model Leveraging Limited Full-Order Model Drag Data and Comprehensive Physical Field Integration

In this paper, a novel surrogate model for shape-parametrized vehicle drag force prediction is proposed. It is assumed that only a limited dataset of high-fidelity CFD results is available, typically less than ten high-fidelity CFD solutions for different shape samples. The idea is to take advantage not only of the drag coefficients but also physical fields such as velocity, pressure, and kinetic energy evaluated on a cutting plane in the wake of the vehicle and perpendicular to the road. This additional “augmented” information provides a more accurate and robust prediction of the drag force compared to a standard surface response methodology. As a first step, an original reparametrization of the shape based on combination coefficients of shape principal components is proposed, leading to a low-dimensional representation of the shape space. The second step consists in determining principal components of the x-direction momentum flux through a cutting plane behind the car. The final step is to find the mapping between the reduced shape description and the momentum flux formula to achieve an accurate drag estimation. The resulting surrogate model is a space-parameter separated representation with shape principal component coefficients and spatial modes dedicated to drag-force evaluation. The algorithm can deal with shapes of variable mesh by using an optimal transport procedure that interpolates the fields on a shared reference mesh. The Machine Learning algorithm is challenged on a car concept with a three-dimensional shape design space. With only two well-chosen samples, the numerical algorithm is able to return a drag surrogate model with reasonable uniform error over the validation dataset. An incremental learning approach involving additional high-fidelity computations is also proposed. The leading algorithm is shown to improve the model accuracy. The study also shows the sensitivity of the results with respect to the initial experimental design. As feedback, we discuss and suggest what appear to be the correct choices of experimental designs for the best results.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SATELLITE SYSTEMS AND NAVIGATION IN STEAM EDUCATION

The research focuses on the relevance of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) in modern society, education, and the role of satellite systems. The STEAM approach combines technical and creative skills to provide students with a holistic education that encourages innovative problem-solving and critical thinking. Understanding the workings of geostationary satellites and navigation systems, vital to many modern technologies, is essential for developing the competencies students need in the digital world. An engineering approach to understanding the concepts and content we use in our everyday lives is pointed out. The research emphasizes that integrating these topics into the educational process promotes interdisciplinary integration of physics, mathematics, geography and informatics knowledge and enhances students' digital competencies. Using innovative pedagogical approaches such as simulations, project work, and practical workshops, teaching complex subjects such as satellite systems effectively while contributing to the development of creativity and critical thinking is possible. This approach ensures that the education system effectively prepares young people for life in a technologically advanced and globalized society, where science and technology are becoming increasingly important. Bioarchaeological analysis of human skeletal remains associated with the wrecking of the retourschip “Batavia”, 1629: burials BIB 11–14

The voyage and subsequent mutiny associated with the wrecking of the VOC retourschip “Batavia” (1629) in the Houtman Abrolhos, off the western coast of Australia, represents one of the earliest documented European encounters with Australia. Much of our understanding of events surrounding the mutiny is detailed in a rich historical record, supplemented in the modern period with targeted archaeological research. Most recently, a large-scale multidisciplinary project, ‘Shipwrecks of the Roaring Forties’ (2014–2019), resulted in the archaeological excavation and analysis of a further 11 individuals on Beacon Island, long dubbed ‘Batavia’s Graveyard’, where the survivors of the wrecking spent several months trying to survive. The latter work brings the total number of individuals recovered from Beacon Island to 21. The present paper considers research undertaken on Beacon Island between 2015 and 2018, specific to the archaeological excavation and analysis of four individuals, designated BIB-11 to BIB-14. These burials represent the first discovery of human remains on the Island through archaeological investigations and for which their burial context and physical integrity had not been compromised by prior human actions, intentional or otherwise. The archaeological and biological anthropological interpretation of these individuals and their burial context, relative to the other sites excavated on the Island, facilitates new and significant insight into these people and the events surrounding their untimely demise on Beacon Island in the early seventeenth century.

Ishāq bin Ali al-Ruhawi, a pioneer in medical professionalism in the 9th century AD.

Professionalism and medical ethics, while similar, are often viewed in different contexts. An historical and social science analysis reveals that professionalism is a complex skill that can be developed over time. The key components of professionalism, as defined by the American Physical Therapy Association, include accountability, altruism, compassion, excellence, integrity, professional duty, and social responsibility. Throughout history, physicians have been concerned with medical ethics and professionalism. In the Golden Age of Islam, principles such as excellence, honour, integrity, accountability, and duty were important in shaping the professional behavior of physicians. Adab al-Tabib, an ancient work, by Ishāq bin Ali al-Ruhawi focuses on ethical guidelines and teachings related to medical ethics in the Islamic civilization. Many of the ethical issues in this book are of foremost importance as components of professionalism. However while the examples of medical ethics guidelines that pre-existed Adab al-Tabib such as the Hippocratic Oath, are not mentioned. As one of the first statutes of medical ethics in Islamic civilization, Ruhawi is a model for many doctors in the Golden Age of Islam, and over the years his principles have greatly influenced the professional view of physicians.

Contemporary Urban Challenges for The Preservation of Values Associated with Settlements in Andalusian Mountainous Areas: The Case of Castaño Del Robledo in the Sierra De Huelva, Spain

The landscapes linked to settlements such as Castaño del Robledo are one of the main elements of heritage interest in the complex and diverse Sierra de Huelva, a border territory between Spain and Portugal in the northwest of Andalusia. They reflect the physical and functional integration between the houses and the environment, where roads, historical infrastructure networks, walls and small buildings are intertwined with the cultivation areas, the embodiment of a very elaborate peasant culture. The aim of this work is to advance in the ways of approaching the knowledge of the singular values and fragility of these landscapes, with the main contribution of integrating a transversal view in their urban-heritage reading. The study starts with a first phase of analysis and diagnosis of the physical environmental support, the territory and the landscapes, and a second phase of evaluation to identify the challenges they currently face.
