Big Data Analytics and Organizational Performance: Mediating Roles of Green Innovation and Knowledge Management in Telecommunications

In the rapidly evolving telecommunications industry, organizations in Bangladesh are facing the challenge of improving their performance to stay competitive. However, there is limited research on how big data analytics (BDA) impacts organizational performance (OP) in this context. Therefore, this study examines the impact of BDA on OP in Bangladesh’s telecommunications industry, with green innovation (GI) and knowledge management (KM) as mediating variables, and big data analytics technical capabilities (BDATCs) as a moderating variable. We collected data from 384 management-level employees across five major telecom companies in Bangladesh using a structured survey questionnaire. Our analysis employed partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with Smart-PLS 4.0 software. The findings indicate that BDA positively influences OP, and both GI and KM significantly mediate this relationship. However, while BDATCs enhance the BDA–OP relationship, they do not significantly moderate the BDA–GI link. These results underscore the importance of integrating BDA with KM and GI to boost organizational performance. Telecom companies should invest in advanced data analytics, foster a culture of sustainability, and enhance knowledge management practices to achieve superior performance. This study contributes to the Resource-Based View (RBV) theory by demonstrating the strategic role of BDA, GI, and KM in a developing economy context. Future research should expand this investigation across different sectors and consider longitudinal approaches to capture the dynamic nature of BDA’s impact on organizational performance.

Revolutionizing Communication: How 5G, UAVs, and Cloud Technologies are Shaping the New Telecommunications Landscape

Background: The rapid evolution of telecommunications has been marked by the integration of advanced technologies such as Long-Term Evolution (LTE), Fifth Generation (5G) networks, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs or drones), the Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing. These technologies have significantly reshaped the landscape of data transmission and communication efficiency. Objective: This review aims to evaluate the collective impact and interconnectivity of LTE, 5G, drones, IoT, and cloud technologies in modern telecommunications, highlighting advancements and identifying future trends. Methods: A comprehensive literature review was conducted, examining recent advancements in each technology and their synergistic effects on telecommunications. The review focused on peer-reviewed articles, white papers, and industry reports published between 2015 and 2023. Results: Findings indicate that 5G technology enhances IoT and drone operations by providing higher bandwidth and lower latency, which are critical for real-time data processing and control. LTE's widespread adoption provides a robust foundation for transitioning to 5G networks. IoT and cloud computing have emerged as pivotal in managing and analyzing vast amounts of data generated by telecommunications networks, improving decision-making and operational efficiency. Conclusion: The convergence of LTE, 5G, drones, IoT, and cloud technologies is pivotal in driving the next wave of telecommunications innovation. Continuous advancements in these areas are expected to further enhance connectivity and scalability, paving the way for more integrated and smart telecommunication solutions. Future research should focus on security challenges and the development of unified regulatory frameworks to support this technological evolution.

Driving innovation in energy and telecommunications involves leveraging next-generation energy storage and 5G technology to enhance connectivity and energy solutions. This review explores the intersection of these two domains, highlighting the importance of advancements in energy storage and 5G technology for a sustainable and connected future. Energy storage is crucial for balancing the supply and demand of electricity in modern power systems. Traditional energy storage methods, such as batteries and pumped hydro, have limitations in terms of scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Next-generation energy storage technologies, including advanced batteries, hydrogen storage, and thermal storage, offer promising solutions to overcome these limitations. These technologies enable efficient energy storage at scale, facilitating the integration of renewable energy sources like solar and wind into the grid. By storing excess energy generated during periods of low demand, next-generation energy storage systems ensure a reliable and stable power supply, reducing the reliance on fossil fuels and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. With 5G-enabled IoT devices, utilities can monitor energy consumption in real-time, optimize grid operations, and detect and respond to faults more efficiently. Moreover, 5G connectivity enhances the efficiency and reliability of energy storage systems by enabling seamless communication between distributed energy resources and grid operators. The convergence of next-generation energy storage and 5G technology presents numerous opportunities for driving innovation in both energy and telecommunications sectors. One of the key areas of innovation is the development of smart energy storage systems equipped with 5G connectivity. These systems can autonomously adjust their operation based on grid conditions, weather forecasts, and energy demand patterns, optimizing energy storage and distribution in real-time. Furthermore, advanced energy management algorithms leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms can optimize energy usage and storage, further improving the efficiency and reliability of the grid. Another area of innovation lies in the integration of renewable energy resources with 5G-enabled microgrids. Microgrids are localized energy systems that can operate independently or in conjunction with the main grid. By combining renewable energy sources with energy storage and 5G-enabled communication, microgrids can provide reliable, clean, and resilient power to remote or urban areas. These microgrids can also facilitate peer-to-peer energy trading, allowing consumers to buy and sell excess energy within their communities, fostering energy independence and sustainability. Furthermore, advancements in battery technology, such as solid-state batteries and flow batteries, are enhancing the performance and reliability of energy storage systems. Solid-state batteries offer higher energy density, faster charging rates, and improved safety compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. Flow batteries, on the other hand, provide scalability and long-duration storage capabilities, making them suitable for grid-scale applications. Integrating these advanced battery technologies with 5G-enabled monitoring and control systems enhances the overall resilience and flexibility of the energy infrastructure. In addition to technological advancements, driving innovation in energy and telecommunications requires collaboration among various stakeholders, including policymakers, regulators, industry players, and research institutions. Policies and regulations should incentivize the deployment of next-generation energy storage and 5G infrastructure, promote interoperability standards, and ensure data privacy and security. Public-private partnerships can facilitate the investment and deployment of innovative solutions, while research and development initiatives can spur further technological advancements. From Mathematical Theory of Communication to Network Society: a Sociological Transformation

An increasing pace of innovation in telecommunications, information technology has facilitated our society’s transition into what is called the “Information Age”. This work is intended to offer a means of understanding current directions in digital innovation. In 1948, the general theory for electronic communications (Shannon 1948), contributed to a substantial reorganization of our society; some fifty years later, Castells attempts to grasp the relationships between emerging technical, economic, political and cultural trends and helps us understand the processes of change triggered by the convergence of information and communication technologies (ICTs). In this work, starting from the interdisciplinary literature, the main theoretical and practical contributions leading to technological convergence are investigated in order to open a window on the contemporary landscape in semantic web, algorithmic reasoning and social intelligence (Esposito 2022). The resulting framework, although due to the dynamism of the phenomena under consideration, is not meant to be an exhaustive analysis of the relationship between digital tools and society, it rigorously summarizes many of the major technical and social issues open today and, in view of the future expansion of the ICT ecosystem, underscores the urgent need for conscious citizen participation in the information society.

Customer Relationship Marketing, Customer Bonding, and Customer Satisfaction on Customer Loyalty in Telecommunication Companies

The telecommunications industry is one of the most competitive industries with high penetration of digital technology, faster availability of data services, and innovations in telecommunications. The purpose of the present study is to empirically test a model that illustrates how customer relationship marketing (CRM) and customer bonding (CBD) affect customer loyalty (CLA) with customer satisfaction (CSA) as a mediating variable in the telecommunication company. A survey of the telecommunication customers was conducted with responses from 230 samples by maximizing the Partial-Least-Square Structural-Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The research results show that CRM and CBD are inferred to impact CLA and mediate CSA significantly. Compared to CRM, CBD has emerged as the most influential determinant of the proposed model. Marketing managers can adopt relevant business strategies and promote customer relationship marketing and customer bonding to achieve customer loyalty.

Design of 5G MIMO 2x2 Broadband Antenna At 26 GHz Frequency Using Double U-Slot Method and Defected Ground Structure

The 5G technology is a telecommunications innovation that offers incredibly high-speed data transfer. It is expected to outperform its predecessors significantly. In utilizing 5G services, efficient devices are crucial, and solutions like Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems play a key role. MIMO is an antenna system with numerous transmitting and receiving elements, enabling simultaneous transmission and reception. A 26 GHz frequency microstrip antenna is modified using a double U-slot, and the Defected Ground Structure (DGS) method is employed to reduce antenna coupling effects and enhance bandwidth. This antenna features a directional radiation pattern that focuses in a specific direction, thereby increasing efficiency. Prior to optimization, the return loss was at around -14.15 dB, VSWR was approximately 1.49 dB, and bandwidth was 0.65 GHz. After optimization, the return loss improved to between -27.06 and -28.09 dB, signifying performance enhancement. Despite a slight increase in VSWR to 1.08 to 1.09 dB, it remains within acceptable limits. The bandwidth increased to 1.06 to 1.13 GHz. These results indicate that optimization successfully boosted antenna performance, resulting in higher data transfer efficiency. This technology has the potential to revolutionize the telecommunications landscape with faster and more reliable services through advanced 5G networks.

Theorizing ‘The Gap’ Twenty Years Later: Global Development, Design, and Speculative Ethics in Edtech Research

AbstractDrawing from Feminist Science and Technology Studies, this paper explores how we might revisit and recuperate past academic research projects, theories, and relationships to design futures that matter for social good. As context, I begin by outlining a decade of research in Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICTD), which linked the United Nations Millennium Development Goals to innovations in telecommunications and computing. I then introduce the ‘theory of design-reality gaps’ that was proposed by Heeks to study ’wicked problems’ in this domain (2002). I revisit two strands of research that I carried out in relation to the ‘design-reality gap’. The first involved an ethnographic study of a participatory mobile phone based learning intervention for Kenyan health workers. I argued that instead of a singular ‘gap’ explained by geographic, sociocultural, or economic ‘divides’, there was a messy entanglement, constituted by sociomaterial practices that enacted a multiplicity (Mol in The body multiple: Ontology in medical practice, Duke University Press, 2002) of desired futures. In the second strand, I attempted to care for the practices that were abandoned by the learning intervention when one kind of justice was prioritized over others. This explored how the research could be more ‘speculative’ and how this ‘speculative commitment’ could generate new ethical questions and logics for living with technology (Puig de la Bellacasa in Social Studies of Science, 41(1), 85–106, 2011 and Matters of care: Speculative ethics in more than human worlds, University of Minnesota Press, 2017). I argue that approaching the design-reality ‘gap’ as a multiplicity instead of a void can support Tuck’s call for educational interventions that turn away from damage oriented theories of change to ones based on desire – approaching difference not as a lack, but as an ever-growing assemblage (2009). Tinkering with the original Heeks model, I conclude that in the postdigital era, the design-reality gap is now better-understood as a fluid space of multiplicities, and what is arguably most pressing is to study the differences in competing objectives and values, rather than disparities in information and technology.

360° View on Zero-Touch (Zero-Touch) Networks

In modern telecommunication sectors, zero touch (Zero-Touch) networks are a novel idea. A combination of quick, context-aware network and service configuration, adaptable new service development, and dynamic, effective resource allocation are required for everyone. An innovative telecommunication management software, Zero-Touch Networks (ZTNs), were released to address these complicated conditions. The primary objective of the zero-touch network is autonomous operation, which is governed by higher layers of policies and regulations and allows for self-configuration, self-monitoring, self-healing and self-optimization without the need for human interaction. This conceptual study document is based on white and grey literature in the Google and Web of Science databases. Text, image, audio and video formats all existed for the data. The manuscripts examined the theories, enabling technologies, problems and difficulties associated with zero touch networks. The primary goal of this manuscript is to provide an overview of ZTN so that aspiring academics, researchers, students and businesspeople can profit from it.

PT. World Innovative Telecommunication is a company engaged in the retail sector. Especially in smartphone sales. Currently performance appraisal is still done manually where the manager takes data directly and then evaluates the data taken by manual calculation so that human errors often occur such as calculation errors in each calculation can occur around 5-9 times errors and data storage does not have back up so prone to data loss. From the description of the problems that occurred, it was designed and built a Web-Based Sales Performance Assessment Information System at PT. World Innovative Telecommunication which is expected to solve existing problems. For analysis and design using the Unified Modeling Language (UML). Web-Based Sales Performance Assessment Information System uses the programming language PHP and MySQL as its database.

IoMT-Based Healthcare Framework for Ambient Assisted Living Using a Convolutional Neural Network

In the age of universal computing, human life is becoming smarter owing to the recent developments in the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), wearable sensors, and telecommunication innovations, which provide more effective and smarter healthcare facilities. IoMT has the potential to shape the future of clinical research in the healthcare sector. Wearable sensors, patients, healthcare providers, and caregivers can connect through an IoMT network using software, information, and communication technology. Ambient assisted living (AAL) allows the incorporation of emerging innovations into the routine life events of patients. Machine learning (ML) teaches machines to learn from human experiences and to use computer algorithms to “learn” information directly instead of relying on a model. As the sample size accessible for learning increases, the performance of the algorithms improves. This paper proposes a novel IoMT-enabled smart healthcare framework for AAL to monitor the physical actions of patients using a convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm for fast analysis, improved decision-making, and enhanced treatment support. The simulation results showed that the prediction accuracy of the proposed framework is higher than those of previously published approaches.

Environmental effects of ICT diffusion, energy consumption, financial development, and globalization: panel evidence from SAARC economies.

The rising energy demand for information and communication technology (ICT) devices has piqued the interest of scholars and policymakers. Given that ICT devices are ubiquitous, any attempt to mitigate climate change should address the carbon footprint of the ICT sector. The present study examines the direct impact of ICT on the environment and the indirect impact through interaction with energy consumption, financial development, and globalization in SAARC economies from 2000 to 2020. Using econometric approaches robust to cross-sectional dependence, such as the Driscoll-Kraay estimator and the Dumitrescu-Hurlin causality test, the study found that ICT, renewable energy consumption, and globalization significantly reduce CO2 emission, whereas non-renewable energy consumption and financial development significantly increase emission. However, the interaction between financial development and ICT jointly reduces CO2 emissions. Similarly, renewable energy and globalization reduce emissions from increased ICT usage. The study also confirms the validity of the environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis for ICT diffusion. The causality test indicates bidirectional causality between ICT and CO2 emissions. Results suggest that SAARC economies can safely boost ICT and related applications to minimize emissions. They should also use renewable energy and green innovations in telecommunications to reduce their adverse environmental repercussions.

The objective of this research is to identify the effects of work motivation and workplace environtment on the performance of employees of PT. World Innovative Telecommunication (OPPO) Malang. This quantitative research uses descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression performed in IBM SPSS. The independent variable is work motivation (X1) and workplace environtment (X2), while the dependent variable is employee performance (Y). the results of the hypothesis testing indicate that work motivation and workplace environtment simultaneously affect employee performance, that work motivation partially has a significant and positive influence on employee performance, and that workplace environtment partially has a significant and positive effect on employee performance.

Peningkatan Kemampuan Bahasa Mandarin Bagi Karyawan Pt. World Innovative Telecommunication (OPPO Smartphone)

This community service focuses on training to improve Chinese language skills for employees of PT. World Innovative Telecommunication as a solution offered to the communication constraints between foreign nationals and employees so that employee performance decreases. This training for employees includes language skills training, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In this training, they are taught how to communicate using Chinese daily and are also trained to master Chinese Business. The instructors in this training consisted of Chinese teachers and Indonesian teachers. From the training results obtained, it was seen that the participants were very enthusiastic in participating in the activities carried out, as evidenced by the participants asking several questions and responding actively to the presenters. In addition, there was a significant increase in test results over time, starting from the 1st exam to the final exam. The obstacle faced in this training was ignorance about Video conferences which caused the virtual room to become out of control so that the learning atmosphere was not conducive. Through this short training, it is hoped that employees will be facilitated to increase their knowledge and abilities, which will ultimately impact improving employee performance in doing work.

For some, employment in oil and gas marks the first time they are separated from family. Others are parents with children under the age of ten. These young employees are members of Gen-Z and technology natives who have a natural preference for innovative telecommunications. Members in this demographic are familiar and comfortable with virtual reality in gaming and communication. In the post-Covid era, most have grown accustomed to web communication. Presently, technology has evolved beyond two-dimensional interaction. Mixed reality involves using holograms to provide ‘telepresence’ through holo-teleportation and provides an in vivo experience for both the employee and his family members. This technology allows participants to have a virtual presence resulting in a live-lived experience with loved ones complete with familiar surroundings and objects. Technological Innovation and Competitive Advantage: Empirical Evidence from Large Telecommunication Firms

Empirical research demonstrating the influence of technological innovation on competitive advantage has produced inconclusive results. This paper, therefore, aims to investigate the association amidst technological innovations and competitive advantage. Significant transformations have been evident in Kenya’s telecommunication industry for the last two decades, which has resulted in intense competition, and technological innovation has become the new face of competition among firms. The study applied the positivism philosophy and adopted the descriptive cross-sectional survey design. The target population comprised all 83 large licensed telecommunications service providers where census method was used. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were utilized in the analysis of data. Descriptive statistics comprised of frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations while inferential statistics used linear regression analysis which was employed in testing the hypothesis. Findings reveal a significant and positive influence of technological innovation on competitive advantage. Technological innovation explained the variations in competitive advantage. It is deduced from the findings that more technologically innovative telecommunication firms are likely to produce better products and services and consequently able to acquire more customers earning competitive advantage compared to less innovative telecommunication firms. The study presented notable implications on the policy framework, the strategic management practice, and theory implications in the telecommunication industry and beyond. At policy level, the Government of Kenya would benefit from the study by ensuring that policy makers and regulatory authorities in the telecommunication sector formulate policies that would promote technological innovation for enhancing competitive advantage. Managerial practitioners may consider institutionalizing innovation by creating the requisite direction and controls that enable the emergence of innovation and value creation for sustainable competitive advantage. The study findings’ implications further extended, supported, and added value on the theory adopted by the study.

With this suitability, work engagement will be higher. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of person organization fit and person job fit on job satisfaction through work engagement. This type of research is quantitative research with purposive sampling technique. Research data were collected by distributing questionnaires to all sales persons of PT World Innovative Telecommunication answers to the questionnaire collected as many 220 respondents. The data was processed using partial least squares (PLS) data analysis techniques. The results of the study stated that person organization fit and person job fit had an effect on job satisfaction through work engagement. This proves that work engagement can significantly mediate the effect of person organization fit and person job fit on job satisfaction sales person PT World Innovative Telecommunication.

The Making of Data Commodities: Data Analytics as an Embedded Process

ABSTRACT This paper studies the process by which data are generated, managed, and assembled into tradable objects we call data commodities. We link the making of such objects to the open and editable nature of digital data and to the emerging big data industry in which they are diffused items of exchange, repurposing, and aggregation. We empirically investigate the making of data commodities in the context of an innovative telecommunications operator, analyzing its efforts to produce advertising audiences by repurposing data from the network infrastructure. The analysis unpacks the processes by which data are repurposed and aggregated into novel data-based objects that acquire organizational and industry relevance through carefully maintained metrics and practices of data management and interpretation. Building from our findings, we develop a process theory that explains the transformations data undergo on their way to becoming commodities and shows how these transformations are related to organizational practices and to the editable, portable, and recontextualizable attributes of data. The theory complements the standard picture of data encountered in data science and analytics, and renews and extends the promise of a constructivist Information Systems (IS) research into the age of datafication. The results provide practitioners, regulators included, vital insights concerning data management practices that produce commodities from data.
