Framework for Assessing the Performance of Hierarchical Organizations in Adoption Of higher Education Information System

Adopting and successfully implementing information systems in higher education is essential to improve administrative processes and communication and support academic activities. However, the hierarchical nature of these organizations poses unique challenges that need to be addressed for the effective adoption of information systems. This study proposes a framework for assessing the performance of hierarchical organizations in effectively implementing information systems in universities. This framework provided a structured approach to assessing the performance of hierarchical organizations in the adoption of information system success in higher education institutions. This framework considered the various dimensions influencing the successful adoption of information systems in hierarchical organizations. This dimension includes leadership support, communication channels, organizational culture, and resource allocation. This study aimed to provide a structured approach for evaluating and adopting information systems at various levels of the organizational hierarchy. A structural equation model using a quantitative method and Smart Partial Least Square are utilized for data analysis. Using a population of 121 respondents, data was collected using a questionnaire instrument used the Google Form link Banten Province higher education leadership level. Secondary data was obtained using documentation studies and literature studies. The limitations of this study are limited by a small sample size, making it challenging to generalize findings to a broader population of higher education institutions. Further, organizational culture plays a vital role in the adoption of technology. The framework may need to sufficiently address the influence of cultural factors on the acceptance and performance of information systems within hierarchical organizations. The research results show that by leveraging this framework, institutions can enhance their information system adoption processes and ultimately improve their effectiveness in utilizing information systems for academic and administrative purposes.

This study aims to determine the Asset Management Information System in Higher Education. The research method used in this study is the SLR (Systematic Literature Review) method. In this study, SLR (Systematic Literature Review) is used to identify, review, evaluate, and interpret previous studies on the Google scholar database with a period of the last 10 years, namely 2013-2023. The results showed that universities do not yet have an internal information system to control their assets. The absence of an asset management information system will have difficulty in tracing asset data. Solutions to overcome existing problems require a web-based asset management information system that can carry out asset management to be more efficient and organized, and make it easier to collect the number of assets, data about assets based on their condition, grouping assets by type, and make it easier to search asset data.

The laboratory is a place to conduct scientific research, experiments, measurements, or scientific training. FMIPA UNNES has several laboratories distributed in each department to support student lectures. Through the implementation of practicum in the laboratory, students are expected to be able to find a concept, foster scientific attitudes, and critical thinking skills. Good laboratory management is expected to be able to utilize laboratory resources effectively and efficiently. Laboratory equipment must be ensured to function properly and be ready to be used for practicum. To support this, it is necessary to monitor the condition of the equipment and immediately repair the equipment if any damage is found. The current obstacle is monitoring tool repairs manually, so there are shortcomings such as poor documentation, and equipment conditions that cannot be monitored online. In this study, an information system for monitoring the maintenance of laboratory equipment in the departments in the FMIPA UNNES environment will be built. The research method begins with a literature study, initial data collection and observation, EAP-based system design, system testing, system analysis, and system evaluation. This study uses the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) approach which is used to develop a product for the Monitoring Information System for the Maintenance of Laboratory Equipment. Testing is done using black box testing. From the results of development and testing, it can be concluded that the system can be used to simplify the process of managing laboratory equipment with a UAT value of 88% suitable for use.

<span lang="EN-US">It is possible to conduct scientific research, experiments, measurements, or training in a laboratory. Each department at FMIPA UNNES features several laboratories to complement class lectures for the students. Students can recognise concepts, cultivate scientific attitudes, and improve their critical thinking skills through lab practice. Utilising laboratory resources effectively and efficiently is expected of good laboratory management. Testing of lab equipment is required to ensure proper functionality and readiness for practicum use. Maintaining an eye on the equipment's condition and fixing any damage as soon as it becomes apparent is crucial for providing proof. The drawbacks of manually recording tool repairs are poor paperwork and equipment problems that are untraceable online. With the help of this study, the FMIPA UNNES environment departments will be able to monitor the upkeep of their lab equipment. The research approach starts with a literature review, followed by the first round of data collecting and observation, the design of an EAP-based system, system testing, system analysis, and system assessment. This research aims to create a product for the Monitoring Information System for the Maintenance of Laboratory Equipment using the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) methodology. Testing involves the use of black box testing. The system's UAT grade of 88% implies that it is appropriate for use and may employ to simplify laboratory equipment management.</span>

The Impact of Academic Information System to Students’ Satisfaction in Higher Education

Academic information systems reflect the quality of management of a college and are one of the efforts of educational institutions to provide quality services to provide convenience and comfort to students. There are obstacles such as the difficulty of controlling the scheduling of courses and information that is less updated on academic information systems. This study aims to determine how much influence the academic information system has on student satisfaction. This study uses a type of research based on a quantitative approach. The research subjects were bachelor and graduate school students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. The data collection method used a questionnaire. Data processing techniques and data analysis using simple linear regression formulas. The results showed that (i) there was a significant influence between the implementation of academic information systems on the level of satisfaction of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta bachelor and graduate school students amount 41% (ii) supporting and inhibiting factors perceived by students in the implementation of academic information systems found in speed, timeliness, and ease of access. This article has empirical contributions related to academic information systems in higher education and can be used as insights for policy holders in universities in making policies.

Processes and Activities for Managing Change in Information Systems Implementation in Higher Education Institution

The research aimed to develop a model for managing change consisting of detailed processes and activities that include changes in technology, organizations, and individuals in the implementation of information systems. The change management model developed in the research was used as a guideline for managing changes that occur when implementing changes in information systems in higher education. This change management model was developed using the action research method to obtain a model that fits the practical conditions. The model included the process and details of activities which were obtained in two ways, namely by identifying the success factors of implementing information systems in previous studies and interviewing information system implementers in tertiary institutions to obtain practical change management activities. The proposed change management model has been verified and validated where the results show that the process in the model is in accordance with expert theory. The results of using this model indicate that the management of changes in information systems can be carried out in a clearer and more structured.

Prototype Development of a Cross-Institutional Credit Transfer Information System for Community College Transfer Students

Credit transfer information systems in higher education are not well studied. This article demonstrates the prototype development of a cross-institutional credit transfer information system (CICIS) for community college transfer (i.e., vertical transfer) students in an Asian educational context. It exhibits credit transfer guidelines and past credit transfer records to enhance the transparency and sustainability of credit transfer information and to facilitate the transfer process of prospective community college transfer students. It also ensures the sustainability of credit transfer information and its application. The four-phase life cycle of the prototyping model was adopted to guide the study. In this paper, we report the first three phases of this development: (1) Users’ needs assessment and pre-prototyping groundwork, (2) prototype development, and (3) unforeseen circumstances and expert review. Challenges and difficulties throughout the whole process are documented and discussed. Based on this prototype development experience, a solid foundation of strategies for future engineering and enhancement of credit transfer information systems can be developed.

Analisa Sistem Informasi Akademik Menggunakan WebQual dan PIECES Frameworks Pada Universitas XYZ

This study aims to provide recommendations or policy suggestions in order to improve the quality of the academic information system (SIAKAD) for university operator or management. SIAKAD is a website-based application created to assist the process of managing data related to academics and has uses in managing campus or college management. Policy suggestions are compiled based on the analysis of higher education information system assessments with a comparison of the dimensions of WebQual and the PIECES Framework in measuring the quality of SIAKAD as a guide in improving or developing the quality for the better. The results of the analysis using the WebQual method with a value of 3.50 and the PIECES Framework with a value of 3.97 on the quality of the SIAKAD website produced the same results which were in the Good category with a score of 4 (3.43 - 4.23) based on the assessment criteria. The results of the recommendations in this study are expected to contribute to higher education management as a reference or decision support in improving the quality of the website-based academic information system (SIAKAD) for the better

Análisis de la Rentabilidad de las Universidades Chilenas mediante la aplicación del Sistema DuPont

Mediante el presente artículo se realiza un análisis de los niveles de rentabilidad generados por las universidades chilenas. El estudio es de carácter descriptivo y se realiza sobre las cifras reportadas en los estados financieros anuales que las entidades publican a través del Sistema de Información de la Educación Superior (SIES) del Ministerio de Educación. El análisis se realiza mediante la aplicación del Modelo de DuPont conocido como el sistema que permite la desagregación de las métricas de rentabilidad en indicadores de eficiencia interna que representan determinadas áreas de la administración de las entidades. El trabajo permitió evaluar la evolución de los indicadores de rentabilidad de las entidades, junto con determinar las diferencias de desempeño dependiendo del grupo de universidades clasificadas según su naturaleza jurídica y financiamiento.

A Study on the Factors Associated with College Student Startups

그 동안 교육부의 각종 창업 관련 사업과 예산 확대, 대학 차원에서의 창업교육 다양화 및 창업 활성화를 위한 노력이 이루어져 왔다. 그러나 기존의 학생 창업에 관한 연구는 대학의 특성들, 즉 대학의 기관 특성과 조직 역량 특성, 창업교육과 같은 비교과 교육과정의 과정적 특성에 관한 효과 분석에 소홀하였다. 이러한 문제의식에 기반하여 본 연구는 학생 창업과 관련한 대학 기관 특성 및 조직 역량 특성 변인, 창업교육이라는 대학교육의 과정적 특성 변인의 효과성을 분석함으로써 학생 창업성과의 증대 방안을 탐색하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 목적을 해결하기 위해 활용한 분석 자료는 ‘에듀데이터 서비스 시스템’ 데이터와 ‘대학정보공시’ 데이터이며, 분석 방법은 순차적 회귀분석이다. 분석결과, 학생창업자수에 영향을 미치는 변인은 대학의 규모, SCI급 논문수로 나타났고, 창업전담교원수, 창업동아리 참여인원은 학생창업자수의 차이를 만들어내는 데 기여하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 분석 결과에 기초하여 대학생의 창업성과 증대를 위한 정책적 시사점을 제공하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학은 창업지원역량을 강화할 수 있는 방안을 지속적으로 모색할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 학생 창업성과를 높이기 위해서는 학생들이 대학의 창업강좌를 지속적으로 수강하면서 창업교육에 보다 적극적으로 참여할 수 있는 기제를 제공해 주어야 한다. 셋째, 창업동아리 운영과 지원 방식에 대한 점검과 개선을 통해 창업동아리에 대한 대학 차원의 체계적인 질 관리가 필요하다. 본 연구는 학생의 창업 성과 증대를 위한 대학 차원의 정책수립을 위한 시사점을 제공해 주었다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다.Recognizing the importance of its unique contribution to the economic growth of a country worldwide, startup education has become activated in South Korea shown by an increased budget of Ministry of Education associated with startup program and diversified education program at colleges and universities. However, extant body of literature on student startups left the characteristics of universities such as organizational characteristics, competency, and procedural points of extracurricular to be disclosed further. Therefore, the current study attempted to explore ways in which student startup is increased by analyzing the association among startup education and the variables of interests. Drawing on the data from Edu-data Service and Higher Education Information system, this study applied stepwise regression. Major findings of the study are as follows : first, universities need to continuously increase their competency in which startup education becomes strengthen. Next, universities are required to take root in mechanism by which students continue to take courses related to startups with a goal of increased foundation of an enterprise. Lastly, administers at colleges and universities need to manage startup student groups by improving the ways of operating and supporting them. The current study finds its unique contribution in that it provided university level policy alternatives to increase student startups.

Design principles for learning analytics information systems in higher education

ABSTRACT This paper reports a design science research (DSR) study that develops, demonstrates and evaluates a set of design principles for information systems (IS) that utilise learning analytics to support learning and teaching in higher education. The initial set of design principles is created from theory-inspired conceptualisation based on the literature, and they are evaluated and revised through a DSR process of demonstration and evaluation. We evaluated the developed artefact in four courses with a total enrolment of 1,173 students. The developed design principles for learning analytics information systems (LAIS) to establish a foundation for further development and implementation of learning analytics to support learning and teaching in higher education.

Metode Enterprise Architecture Planning Untuk Merencanakan Sistem Informasi Manajemen Anggaran Perguruan Tinggi Swasta

The success of higher education can be seen from the performance of education, research and community service, and university governance. The use of information technology is very influential in organizational performance. Budget management and expenditure are some of the important business processes in a university involving several work units so that integration system is needed. The purpose of this study is to plan an Enterprise Architecture budget and information system of expenditure management that is integrated with systems in other work units. An Enterprise Architecture Planning (EAP) is a methodology for making enterprise architecture planningby focusing on data management architecture, application creation architecture, and technology architecture. Those will be used as well as the implementation of architecture to support the achievement of organizational goals, namely integration system. The results of this study are Blue Print of Architecture Enterprise budget and expenditure management information systems in Higher Education. This Blue Print of Enterprise Architecture information system includes several business processes, namely business processes, budget management, payroll, asset management, HR management, and attendance. This compiled architecture is still found gap. For example, there are still entities that must be added (add), retained (replaced), replaced (removed) and removed (remove), with details of 17 Added entities, 1 Retained entity, 14 Replaced entities, and 0 Removed entity. In conclusion, the total gap is 32 entities.

Strategies to Increase Satisfaction to Establish Student Behavior by Creating Reputation, Physical Evidence and Academic Information Systems in Higher Education in Central Java Region

This study aims to determine the effect of Reputation, Physical Evidence and Academic Information Systems on satisfaction and its impact on student loyalty in shaping student behavior in Private Colleges in Central Java. Sampling in this study using Random sampling technique. The number of samples taken in this study were 125 respondents who were students of Private Colleges in Central Java. The analytical tool used is the research instrument test, linearity test, path analysis and regression with t test, F test and R2 test. The t-test results show that Reputation, Physical Evidence and Academic Information Systems have a positive effect on student satisfaction. And Reputation, and satisfaction have a positive effect on loyalty in shaping student behavior. While the Academic Information System has a negative effect on loyalty in shaping student behavior. Direct and indirect effect results can be concluded that the satisfaction variable as an intervening variable of reputation is ineffective, and more effective reputation directly influences the behavior of students of Central Java Region Private Colleges. The direct and indirect influence can be concluded that the satisfaction variable as the intervening variable of the Academic Information System is effective, because the indirect influence through student satisfaction is greater. Whereas for the most dominant and most effective path to improve student behavior to be loyal to Private Colleges is a reputation / image path to student loyalty directly in shaping student behavior, because it has the highest regression coefficient value. Whereas to increase satisfaction is the most effective through increasing / improving physical evidence.

This article presents the results of the research Interculturality and culture of indigenous peoples in the professional training process in Physical Education in Colombia; which aimed to recognize the presence or absence of diversity in the curricula of existing programs with active registration in the National Higher Education Information System of the country. It was approached methodologically from a dialogue between walking the spiral - Jijunan (understanding) and Kajijunan (interpretation) - proper of Colombian indigenous peoples and the content analysis technique; from which it aimed to infer and uncover what is latent in institutional documents of universities with courses in the field. There was little presence of these categories in the curricula of the current programs in Colombia.

Assessing the success behind the use of education management information systems in higher education

The continuous use of dynamic and disruptive ICT as energizing elements of the educational process is a reality of current days, where millennials are the centre of an education paradigm in which students are much more inclined to use technologies than enrolling in a traditional non-digital course. Considering education management information systems (EMIS) capacities to collect, analyse, process and publish information and data, it is easy to perceive their relevance to both education organizations and students. Nevertheless, and despite EMIS complexity and inherent possibilities, the existing literature does not provide for a detailed characterization on the impact these systems might have on students’ success. Thus, this research focuses on understanding the use of EMIS by students and the arising of net benefits; it introduces an EMIS success model which posits that to ensure net benefits for students, education institutions must safeguard that their education management information systems are of high quality, while at the same time students are maintained satisfied with the system and engage in continuous use. To assess the posed model, an empirical study has been performed, involving students from higher education institutions. Findings from the study allow us to perceive that, as information systems (IS) success models state, EMIS use and students’ satisfaction are predictors of net benefits. This same model also claims that the available information quality and EMIS inherent service quality are also strong determinants of both continuous EMIS use and student satisfaction.

IMPLEMENTASI OCTAVE-S DAN STANDAR PENGENDALIAN ISO 27001:2013 PADA MANAJEMEN RISIKO SISTEM INFORMASI PERGURUAN TINGGI

In higher education, information systems become a strategic tool for the continuity of universities or institutions themselves, especially in the running business processes. The disruption of information systems in higher education will have a bad impact, especially for the continuity of business processes, information systems that initially as a tool will then turn into a threat and even become a risk if it is not properly addressed and mitigated. The problem that arises is that University of Muhammadiyah Tangerang has never conducted a system risk analysis assessment of existing information, including policies relating to information technology security. This study aims to provide information to the University of Muhammadiyah Tangerang regarding the risks, threats and weaknesses of information technology found and recommendations that can be applied to mitigate risks that can arise. This study uses the octave-s risk analysis method combined with ISO 27001: 2013 control standards. The results of this study are in the form of a final document that can be used as a guideline and help in the future development of a risk analysis assessment at UMT. The results of the evaluation obtained, it is known that risk management is in the MEDIUM position, meaning that UMT does not experience risks that can stop / damage information systems that have an impact on the cessation of teaching and learning, but risks and weaknesses in universities can have an impact on decreasing university performance immediately.
