In order to investigate the influence of x-ray irradiation the process of annealings, the temperature difference, DELTA T, of the irradiated and nonirradiated sodium chloride crystals was registered. Crystals with molecular contents of 0.2, 0.05, and 0.002% calcium were investigated. The x-ray imradiation was carried out at 50 kev and 30 ma through a beryllium window for 2 hr. In each of the experiments a maximum was observed on the curve showing the dependence of DELTA T on the oven temperature. With increasing calcium concentration, the position of the maximum shifted toward the lower oven temperatures.
