Research on vocational education development of nautical technology major in hainan free trade port from the perspective of internationalization based on big data descriptive analysis

This paper presents a meticulous analysis of the UNCTAD's 2019 data pertaining to commercial ships, with a particular focus on Chinese-funded vessels. The objective is to assess their status and further predict the demand for shipping talents within the Hainan Free Trade Port. Notably, it is revealed that approximately 34.91% of the Chinese-funded ocean-going ships operate under flags of convenience, representing a substantial share of 55.9% in terms of tonnage. In order to address this situation and enhance the attractiveness of Hainan for vessel registration, a comprehensive "master plan" has been devised. Recent statistics indicate a favorable trend towards a reversal in this trend, with more Chinese-funded ships choosing to register in Hainan. Consequently, there is a pronounced demand for skilled shipping talents within the free trade port.Furthermore, this article delves into the intricate nuances of nautical technology vocational education, both domestically and internationally. It underscores the crucial role of skilled professionals who possess a global perspective and offers suggestions for fostering international collaboration and enhancing educational resources. Additionally, it identifies and discusses the challenges encountered in the Hainan Free Trade Port, along with proposed measures for improvement. The article emphasizes the imperative for responsive reforms to ensure that educational competencies are aligned with global standards. The implementation of these measures is anticipated to bring about transformative changes in nautical technology education within the Hainan Free Trade Port, thereby contributing significantly to the overall progress of the maritime industry globally.

Microstructural Evaluation and Linkage to the Engineering Properties of Metal-Ion-Contaminated Clay

The rapid progress of urbanization and industrialization has led to the accumulation of large amounts of metal ions in the environment. These metal ions are adsorbed onto the negatively charged surfaces of clay particles, altering the total surface charge, double-layer thickness, and chemical bonds between the particles, which in turn affects the interactions between them. This causes changes in the microstructure, such as particle rearrangement and pore morphology adjustments, ultimately altering the mechanical behavior of the soil and reducing its stability. This study explores the effects of four common metal ions, including monovalent alkali metal ions (Na+, K+) and divalent heavy metal ions (Pb2+, Zn2+), with a focus on how ion valence and concentration impact the soil’s microstructure and mechanical properties. Microstructural tests show that metal ion incorporation reduces particle size, increases clay content, and transforms the structure from layered to honeycomb-like. Small pores decrease while large pores dominate, reducing the specific surface area and pore volume, while the average pore size increases. Although cation exchange capacity decreases, cation adsorption density per unit surface area increases. Monovalent ions primarily disperse the soil structure, while divalent ions induce coagulation. Macro-mechanical tests reveal that metal ion contamination reduces porosity under loading, with compressibility rises as the ion concentration increases. Soils contaminated with alkali metal ions shows higher compression coefficients at all loads, while heavy metal ions cause higher compression under lower loads. Shear strength, the internal friction angle, and cohesion in metal-ion-contaminated clay decrease compared to uncontaminated field-state clay, with greater declines at higher ion concentrations. The Micropore Morphology Index and hydro-pore structural parameter effectively characterize both micro- and macrostructural properties, establishing a quantitative relationship between HPSP and the engineering properties of metal-ion-contaminated clay.

Application‐Based Review of Soft Computational Methods to Enhance Industrial Practices Abetted by the Patent Landscape Analysis

ABSTRACTSoft computing is a collective methodology that touches all engineering and technology fields owing to its easiness in solving various problems while comparing the conventional methods. Many analytical methods are taken over by this soft computing technique and resolve it accurately and the soft computing has given a paradigm shift. The flexibility in soft computing results in swift knowledge acquisition processing and the information supply renders versatile and affordable technological system. Besides, the accuracy with which the soft computing technique predicts the parameters has transformed the industrial productivity to a whole new level. The interest of this article focuses on versatile applications of SC methods to forecast the technological changes which intend to reorient the progress of various industries, and this is ascertained by a patent landscape analysis. The patent landscape revealed the players who are in the segment consistently and this also provides how this field moves on in the future and who could be a dominant country for a specific technology. Alongside, the accuracy of the soft computing method for a particular practice has also been mentioned indicating the feasibility of the technique. The novel part of this article lies in patent landscape analysis compared with the other data while the other part is the discussion of application of computational techniques to various industrial practices. The progress of various engineering applications integrating them with the patent landscape analysis must be envisaged for a better understanding of the future of all these applications resulting in an improved productivity.

Prioritization of Evaluation Items for Industrial Accident Prevention Factors Using the Fuzzy TOPSIS Technique

With the rapid progress of industrialization, serious accidents have frequently occurred at industrial sites. Despite the existence of several laws and regulations for preventing industrial accidents, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act, social criticism has been raised regarding their inefficiency. To address this issue, the Serious Accident Punishment Act was implemented. The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Safety and Health Agency have prepared and implemented various industrial accident prevention measures and programs; however, the number of industrial accidents has not decreased. Therefore, new evaluation criteria must be introduced when establishing policies or systems to prevent industrial accidents. This study introduces evaluation items used in Europe and the United States as industrial accident prevention items for assessing industrial accident prevention projects and proposes a plan to select priorities for these items by applying the fuzzy TOPSIS technique. Prioritization was determined by calculating four evaluation criteria and ten industrial accident prevention items using a 7-point linguistic scale. Our results allow for the simultaneous consideration of several industrial accident prevention items. Thus, various aspects of industrial accident prevention activities can be comprehensively evaluated, enhancing the effectiveness and execution of safety and health management, thereby helping to reduce industrial accidents.

The aim of this study is to develop an innovative model of creative tourism as a key driver of sustainable development in response to modern challenges. In a world where globalization and technological advancements are reshaping traditional tourism approaches, creative tourism emerges as a novel strategy to attract visitors and foster economic growth. This study employs a data-driven analytical approach (BIG DATA analysis) to examine creative tourism, recognizing the need to manage, systematize, classify, and draw insights from large datasets enabled by digital technologies. Creative tourism systems leverage advanced neural networks with multiple hidden layers to intelligently process and extract maximum value from data, providing essential insights for tourism service consumers. This positions creative tourism as both a critical business asset and a valuable tool for improving the human experience. Exploring the Temporal, Spatial and Characteristic Trends and Key Influencing Factors of Tianjin’s Industrial Heritage

Tianjin is currently in the phase of urban stock renewal, yet its industrial heritage encounters significant challenges, including constrained spatial development, a misalignment between industrial progress and the reuse of industrial heritage, and an understated cultural representation. This study utilized geospatial analysis methods, including kernel density analysis, standard deviation ellipse analysis, and gravity migration model analysis, to elucidate the distribution characteristics of Tianjin’s industrial heritage across temporal, spatial, and typological dimensions. Moreover, a geographic detector was employed to assess the impact of various factors on the development of Tianjin’s industrial heritage, ultimately elucidating the correlations between existing challenges and objective patterns. The conclusion of this paper presents three strategic approaches for the renewal of industrial heritage, emphasizing historical culture, environmental space, and sustainable development. These strategies are designed to provide a solid research foundation for protecting and revitalizing Tianjin’s industrial heritage resources.

Feasibility of establishing a waste recycling plant in the north of Najaf city and supporting the sustainable environment

The increase in population growth, industrial progress in various fields, rising income, and improved living standards have led to societal development, and consequently, an increase in consumer needs and demands. This has resulted in irrational resource consumption and a significant increase in waste quantities, posing a major threat to the environment and human health, this research came as an attempt to enhance sustainability, create investment opportunities, solve the problem of resource shortages, and eliminate waste in an emerging country like Iraq. A feasibility study was prepared based on the technical study and conducting meetings with officials in Najaf Governorate. A set of conclusions and recommendations were reached, the most important of which were the following. By reviewing the extracted financial ratios, it became clear that the project has a high economic feasibility that is beyond comparison, and the reason can be justified by the huge amount of waste present in the targeted area, in addition to the fact that Iraq is a new experience in such industries related to sustainable development and an industry that provides resources and raw materials for other industries that are considered of great importance and are in demand in Iraq and other neighboring countries, The most important recommendations were Starting to refer the project to an investment company according to the government conditions of the Najaf Governorate Investment Authority and generalizing the successful experience to the governorates of Iraq, and giving this project the utmost importance when compared to other projects as it provides the basic and important resources for local industries, and this is consistent with Iraq’s strategy of focusing on industry and establishing industrial cities.

Research on Teaching Reform of Landscape Engineering Course based on the Concept of CDIO

With the advancement of new engineering construction, it is urgent to explore the teaching reform of professional courses in the cultivation of landscape architecture professionals in combination with industry needs. In order to solve the problems existing in the current Landscape Engineering course, such as traditional teaching methods, insufficient student interest, lack of practical links, and the disconnection between teaching content and industry demand. This study discusses the teaching reform of the Landscape Engineering course based on the CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate) concept, aiming at solving the problems mentioned. Through the integration of CDIO mode, the core competencies that students should have are defined, including environmental landscape design and planning, innovative thinking, project management, and so on. The research emphasizes project-driven learning, interdisciplinary knowledge integration, and practical skill training, and puts forward strategies such as teacher training and professional development support to ensure the implementation of the reform. The purpose of the reform was to improve students’ professional ability and employment competitiveness, promote the improvement of education quality and the sustainable development of the industry, and exert a positive impact on landscape engineering education and industry progress.

‘The melody that’s sweetly played in tune’ #—the heritage ecologies of the Ardeer Peninsula, North Ayrshire, Scotland

This photo essay explores the ways in which archaeology and photography work together and intervene in the world, to focus on landscapes that have been overlooked or actively ignored. It considers the site of a dynamite factory that was built by Alfred Nobel on the Ardeer Peninsula, Scotland, which has now been designated as a brownfield. The prevailing narrative is of industrial progress followed by ruination; where institutional archives memorialise Alfred Nobel, the technology of dynamite manufacture, and the built environment, they ignore the lives of those who worked there. This narrative sits alongside the way the present landscape is viewed as derelict and in need of redevelopment, ignoring the fauna and flora that thrive there. We take an other-than-human approach and consider how multiple species and processes come together at Ardeer. A vibrant and lively landscape is brought to the fore in terms of an archaeology of factory workers and a heritage site as an ecology.

Enhancing photocatalytic water treatment efficiency via nitrogen Self-Doping and Hive-Like Structuring in isotype homojunctions of g-C3N4 generated from Thiourea-Melamine copolymerization

The combination of overpopulation and rapid industrial progress has led to a pronounced increase in water contamination. Photocatalysis emerges as a viable solution for mitigating water pollution, and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) is considered as a particularly promising photocatalyst due to its advantageous properties, such as low cost, and high chemical stability. Nonetheless, the effectiveness of g-C3N4 is often compromised by its limited surface area and substantial recombination of photogenerated charge carriers. To address these challenges, in this work, we propose a systematic approach to develop photocatalytically efficient surface structures and intimate isotype homojunctions through the copolymerization of various g-C3N4 precursors. A range of photocatalysts, each with distinctly tailored morphologies and homojunctions, was produced and their photocatalytic performance was assessed through the removal efficiencies of model pollutants, bisphenol A (BPA), and methylene blue (MB), with each at a concentration of 10 mg L-1. The enhanced photocatalytic activity observed in the optimized sample is primarily attributed to its significantly increased surface area, which is ten times greater than that of standard g-C3N4, and a marked reduction in charge recombination, which is four times lower, facilitated by the intimate homojunction. Thus, this work will open the door to the synthesis of various highly efficient photocatalysts for application in the photodegradation of diverse pollutants, consequently mitigating adverse environmental effects.

The Investigation on the Application of Digital Technologies for Logistics Business Competitiveness

The logistics sector's performance is integral to nations' economic and industrial progress. The advent of digital technologies marks a monumental historical shift, impacting worldwide transformations in structural organization, business strategies, economic principles, and regulatory frameworks. The landscape of logistics management provides a fertile ground for integrating these digital advancements, as exemplified by the dynamic emergence of logistics 4.0. This study evaluates how implementing digital technology profoundly influences logistics management's competitiveness in the business context. The study investigates applying digital technologies within the logistics sector using multi-stage methodology, which integrated different methods: the formation of hierarchy of quantitative methods and the application of statistical data analysis methods. Statistical data analysis helps to collect knowledge about logistics business, the application of digital technologies and its performance within European Union (EU) countries. The application of hierarchy of quantitative methods allows to compare the applications of various technologies with digital technologies and the competitiveness of various sectors with logistics sector competitiveness. These findings accentuate the intricate interplay between technological advancement and competitiveness within the logistics sector. The study contributes to a deeper comprehension of how digital technologies reshape competitive dynamics and lays the foundation for refined logistics practices in an increasingly digital-driven world.

Empirical Research on the Impact of Technological Innovation on New Energy Vehicle Sales

In the context of global carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, researching the driving forces and influencing factors behind the growth in sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) is particularly urgent and crucial. Although the academic community has extensively explored various factors affecting NEV sales, technological innovation, as the core engine driving industry progress, is yet to receive sufficient and in-depth exploration regarding its potential profound impact on sales. Therefore, this study thoroughly analyzes the mechanism by which technological innovation influences sales, supplementing the existing literature, exploring sustainable industry development, and guiding the optimization of business strategies and precise government policies. This research employs the quality of NEV technology patents as a proxy variable for technological innovation, and conducts an empirical analysis using China’s NEV sales data from 2015 to 2022. The results of the study show the following: (1) the quality of technological innovation significantly contributes to the growth of new energy vehicle sales. This conclusion still holds when the administrative protection of intellectual property rights and the government’s public innovation environment indicators are used as instrumental variables of technological innovation quality. (2) Technological innovations in different links of the new energy vehicle industry chain have a positive impact on sales, especially those in the midstream battery, motor, and downstream charging services. This shows that in the critical period of new energy vehicle development, not only is the breakthrough of key technologies crucial, but also, non-critical technologies can promote sales growth by improving user experience and product performance. (3) Compared with plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), the overall technological innovation of new energy vehicles (NEVs) has a more significant effect on the sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs). (4) In addition, the study finds that there is no significant difference between high-quality and low-quality technological innovations on the promotion of new energy vehicle sales, which indicates that the market values the overall effect of technological innovations more than the mere level of quality. The study of the impact of technological innovation on sales in different branches of the new energy industry chain can help to clarify the direction of technological innovation, optimize resource allocation, promote the synergistic development of the industry chain, enhance market competitiveness, and provide a scientific basis for policy formulation.

Evaluation of phenolics in the analysis of virgin olive oil using near infrared spectroscopy

Olive oil is an indispensable part of the diet in Mediterranean regions, and is appreciated worldwide for its sensory characteristics, combining a fine aroma and pleasant flavor with the high nutritional value of specific chemical compounds. However, making rapid measurements of phenolic compounds is a major challenge for the olive oil sector. The development of a new method based on near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy may be considered an important advance for the sector, as it is rapid, low-cost, non-contaminant and non-destructive. In this study, three different NIR instruments – one FT-NIR benchtop instrument (671.82–2702.70 nm) and two low-cost portable devices (900–1700 nm and 1350–2150 nm) – were used to analyze a collection of virgin olive oil samples from various Mediterranean regions. To predict both the individual and total concentration of phenols in the olive oil, four signal pretreatment methods and modified partial least squares regression analyses were employed to develop the predictive models. The results showed that the benchtop FT-NIR instrument performed better than the other portable instruments when measuring the phenolic compounds in virgin olive oil. The best models of hydroxytyrosol derivatives, tyrosol derivatives, total phenols and “EFSA phenols” showed R2cv values of 0.84, 0.85, 0.88 and 0.89, while the RPDcv values were 2.51, 2.61, 2.93 and 2.95, respectively. Meanwhile, for the portable NIR instruments, the prediction models for hydroxytyrosol derivatives, total phenols and “EFSA phenols” (the sum of the hydroxityrosol and tyrosol derivatives) showed R2cv values ranging between 0.75 and 0.81 and an RPDcv between 2 and 2.5. These results indicate the great potential of NIR, both with benchtop and portable devices, to detect phenolic compounds in virgin olive oil, which can guarantee the quality of virgin olive oil and thus aid progress in the olive oil industry. Moreover, this is the first published work to determine phenolic compounds in virgin olive oil using portable NIR instruments.

Development and potential of robotisation and automation in Kazakhstan's automobile industry: a bibliographical and analytical review

The engineering sector, which includes automobile production, plays an important role in the national economy and industrial progress. It affects the development of production, scientific and technical progress, labor productivity, national security, quality of life. In order to increase productivity, reduce labor costs and improve product quality, industrial automation and robotization processes have been significantly developed in industrialized countries of the world. The global market for industrial robots is expected to grow 14.3% annually and reach $30.8 billion by 2027. However, Kazakhstan faces special difficulties in adopting these technologies due to the lack of development of automation infrastructure. This study aims to develop priorities and directions of advanced scientific and technological solutions for intelligent joint systems of robotics and automation, especially in the automotive industry of Kazakhstan. In this regard, the purpose of the study is to assess the current state of automation in the automotive industry of Kazakhstan, to identify challenges and opportunities associated with the introduction of robotics, and to provide a strategic basis for the advancement of these technologies. The research corresponds to the state programs of Kazakhstan on science, technology and digitization. The scientific and practical importance of this work is that it is aimed at providing solutions for increasing efficiency by adapting advanced robotic technologies to local production systems. Through the development of domestic innovations and the transfer of global technologies, research contributes to the field of industrial automation and helps Kazakhstan's industries to achieve global competitiveness. It is expected that the practical results of the research will contribute to the improvement of production quality, efficiency and productivity in the automotive sector of Kazakhstan, contributing to sustainable development in accordance with world trends. The value of the work lies in providing individual, technologically advanced solutions to meet the nation's urgent need for robotics automation and integration.

Improving Iron Content in Sustainable Mycoprotein Production through Seawater Fermentation

The growing global population and rising protein demand are straining freshwater resources. Fusarium venenatum (Fv) mycoprotein offers a sustainable protein alternative, with environmental efficiency and potential health benefits. However, its low iron content remains a concern, especially for vegetarians and vegans. This study introduces a sustainable approach, employing seawater as a fermentation medium for Fv production. Our analysis reveals that mycoprotein derived from SEA Fv exhibits elevated levels of sodium and calcium, with a notably high iron content (2.2 mg/100g wet weight). The sodium content, while 3.31 times higher than in non-seawater fermentation, remains within recommended daily intake parameters. No plasticizers or heavy metals were detected in the SEA Fv cell body, minimizing long-term toxicity risks from seawater use. A unique metabolite, dihydroorotic acid, was identified from an in-house library of 774 metabolites, serving as an internal biomarker for seawater-based production methods. An acute safety study condensing 600g of SEA Fv to simulate high mycoprotein digestion showed no effects on key physical behaviors or major organs, including the heart and lungs. This positions the product as a viable protein alternative with enhanced iron content, highlighting seawater-based fermentation as a sustainable method for future food production and industry progress.

Linkages between industry, agriculture, growth, renewable energy and the environment and the role of institutional quality, evidence from selected South and East Asian economies

This study aims to reveal the influence of industrial progress and agricultural value addition on environmental harm and explores how the unique moderating role of institutional quality handles this association; using the panel ARDL approach on a panel of South and East Asian economies from 1980 to 2020. The baseline model proposes that for each 1% increase in agricultural added value and industrial progress, carbon dioxide emissions may fluctuate considerably positively by 0.563% and 0.758% respectively. In the long term, the plausibility of the upturned U-shaped association between economic growth and carbon dioxide emissions in South and East Asian economies has been confirmed in the analysis. The use of renewable energy considerably condenses long-term emission levels. Institutional quality is found to have a strong moderating effect on the link between the main model regressors (renewable energy use, industrial growth, GDP per capita, and agricultural value addition) and CO2 emissions. Institutional quality supports the enhancement of industrial and agricultural capabilities and the improvement of environmental worth. Finally, the threshold results indicate that the influence of the main regression variables of the model (renewable energy utilization, industrial growth, per capita GDP, and agricultural added value) on carbon dioxide emissions has fully penetrated the institutional quality level. Strong, high-quality institutions, rather than weak institutions, can improve the aptitude of industry and agriculture to mitigate environmental degradation. In this pursuit, it becomes increasingly important to develop policies that support renewable energy based on institutional values.

With the rapid development of science and technology, computer, remote sensing technology and aerospace science have increasingly become the focus of attention of academia and industry. Since the first International Conference on Computer, Remote Sensing and Aerospace (CRSA) was held, the conference has become an important platform for scholars in related fields to exchange ideas and share results. The 2024 4th International Conference on Computer, Remote Sensing and Aerospace (CRSA 2024) continues the high-level academic tradition of the previous three conferences, and was held virtually in Osaka, Japan from July 5th to 7th, 2024. The conference aimed to promote the cross-fertilization between computer science, remote sensing technology and aerospace science, to promote technological innovation and industrial upgrading, and to contribute wisdom and strength to the global scientific and technological development. It called for papers on such topics as High-Performance Computing, Computer Aided Design, Robotics and Automation, Geographic Information Science, Satellite Navigation and Positioning, Optical Remote Sensing, Aeroelasticity and Structural Dynamics, Manned / Unmanned Aviation, etc. The conference attracted the active participation of experts, scholars, engineers and industrial elites from all over the world, and the latest research results and technological advances in relevant field were demonstrated through thematic reports, oral and poster presentations. The thematic speeches covered the problems, challenges, solutions, and future research directions of computer science, remote sensing technology and aerospace science, and provided participants with comprehensive and in-depth understanding and insight, stimulating thinking and innovation. Scholars who participated in oral and poster presentations had in-depth exchanges with other participants, sharing experiences and insights, and jointly exploring cutting-edge issues in relevant disciplines and domains. Therapeutic targeting of senescent cells in the CNS.

Senescent cells accumulate throughout the body with advanced age, diseases and chronic conditions. They negatively impact health and function of multiple systems, including the central nervous system (CNS). Therapies that target senescent cells, broadly referred to as senotherapeutics, recently emerged as potentially important treatment strategies for the CNS. Promising therapeutic approaches involve clearing senescent cells by disarming their pro-survival pathways with 'senolytics'; or dampening their toxic senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) using 'senomorphics'. Following the pioneering discovery of first-generation senolytics dasatinib and quercetin, dozens of additional therapies have been identified, and several promising targets are under investigation. Although potentially transformative, senotherapies are still in early stages and require thorough testing to ensure reliable target engagement, specificity, safety and efficacy. The limited brain penetrance and potential toxic side effects of CNS-acting senotherapeutics pose challenges for drug development and translation to the clinic. This Review assesses the potential impact of senotherapeutics for neurological conditions by summarizing preclinical evidence, innovative methods for target and biomarker identification, academic and industry drug development pipelines and progress in clinical trials.
