Manfaat Ekonomi Ekowisata Hiu Paus (Rhincodon typus) di Kampung Akudiomi Distrik Yaur Kabupaten Nabire

Model pemanfaatan hiu paus yang memberi manfaat ekonomi sekaligus memberikan perlindungan terhadap hiu paus dapat dilakukan melalui pariwisata dengan konsep ekowisata. Kampung Akudiomi merupakan salah satu kampung di wilayah Taman Nasional Teluk Cenderawasih yang memiliki objek dan daya tarik wisata berbasis hiu paus. Meningkatnya kunjungan wisatawan ke wilayah ini telah memberi manfaat ekonomi bagi berbagai pihak. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui manfaat ekonomi yang diperoleh para pemangku kepentingan dan secara khusus mengetahui tingkat kesejahteraan pelaku usaha wisata lokal dari aktifitas ekowisata hiu paus. Studi dilakukan pada bulan Maret hingga Mei 2014 di Kampung Akudiomi Kabupaten Nabire Propinsi Papua. Hasil penelitian menginformasikan bahwa kegiatan ekowisata berbasis hiu paus di perairan Akudiomi telah memberikan dampak positif yaitu mendatangkan manfaat ekonomi bagi para pemangku kepentingan termasuk masyarakat lokal. Manfaat ekonomi yang diperoleh oleh masing-masing pihak berbeda-beda, tergantung dari kebijakan dalam penetapan tarif, serta jenis kegiatan dan jumlah kunjungan wisatawan. Meskipun telah memberi manfaat ekonomi, tingkat kesejahteraan pekerja wisata lokal masih tergolong rendah (33%) dan sedang (67%), secara umum kemampuan pendapatan perkapita lebih kecil dari tingkat konsumsi.

Assessing feasibility of film-induced tourism: the case of Singapore

AbstractThis paper discusses the feasibility of introducing film-induced tourism to Singapore. It compares the motivations and demographics of film-induced tourists with general tourists in an attempt to increase the understanding of film-induced tourists. The data was collected through questionnaires with tourists visiting the Singapore Visitors Centre in Singapore and three staff from different departments in the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). The results show that film-induced tourism is a small niche tourism market involving tourists who travel due to films. The results also show that both tourists and STB staff believe Singapore should enhance film-induced tourism. The reasons STB hesitates to introduce this niche tourism are lack of sufficient budget and quality scripts, and Singapore is currently emphasising other forms of tourism that secure increased tourist arrivals. Bandung city to increase tourist arrivals from year to year. To measure the influence of brand community loyalty used multiple regression analysis, the aim of this research to determine the influence of brand community loyalty. Based on the results of the descriptive assessment 100 respondents who obtain the greatest value in the moral community brand responsibility. Relationship model among sport event image, destination image, and tourist satisfaction of Tour de Singkarak in West Sumatera

Sport events Tour de Singkarak (TDS) can increase tourist arrivals to West Sumatera. At least at the time of execution, the majority of participants and team supporters (sports tourist) brings the families. Although there are claims about the arrival of tourists, it requires to see the impact of sports events TDS and comprehensive long-term basis to the West Sumatera image as a tourist destination (destination image) and its impact on tourist satisfaction. This study re-conceptualizes the interconnec-tedness among sport event image, tourist destination image, perception and the effect on tourists satisfaction. The investigation on this interconnection is expected to reveal empirically tested model. As an explanatory in nature, this study uses explanatory survey and cross sectional data. In total of 100 spectators of Tour de Singkarak in West Sumatera, they got involved in survey and they were taken by convenience sam-pling technique. Analysis of this data was done by using variance based structural equation modeling. It was found that sport event image and destination image signifi-cantly affect the satisfaction of spectators of Tour de Singkarak.

Tourists’ Perceptions of London, United Kingdom (UK), as a Safe Host City During the 2012 Olympic Games

ABSTRACTThe Olympic Games 2012 provided the host city London with the opportunity to showcase its cultural diversity and world-class tourist attractions. However, the build-up to the world’s largest sporting event attracted considerable negative publicity primarily related to security at the Games, namely terrorism and its potential to disrupt the spectacle. Intercept interviews were carried out with 354 spectators during the Games at public viewing sites and key tourist attractions to elicit the perceptions of London as a safe host city. The findings demonstrate that visitors to the Olympics perceived London to be safe, in terms of both crime and terrorism, with positive consequences for their future plans to revisit London. Ultimately, a better understanding of spectators’ perceptions of safety and security of the Games can help improve communication messages to combat misperceptions in an effort to increase tourist arrivals to host cities during the staging of mega-events and after such events.

Stakeholder Perceptions of the Role of Low-cost Carriers in Insular Tourism Destinations: The Case of Cyprus

Low-cost carriers (LCCs) may yield several benefits to destinations including increased tourist arrivals, improved destination competitiveness and enrichment of regional economies. Governments in several destinations, particularly insular tourism destinations, have acted as proponents towards LCCs offering attractive subsidisation schemes. Nonetheless, the degree to which LCCs contribute to tourism development remains questionable. Using semi-structured interviews with industry stakeholders, the aim of this paper is to explore the supply-side perceptions of the impacts of LCCs on the tourism industry of Cyprus. Findings reveal concerns over the influence of LCCs on the development of the island's tourism industry. Whilst air transport inherently impacts tourism development, this study concludes that demand-related issues and government policies interact to shape the environment in which LCCs operate, and consequently, affect tourism development. This paper concludes by highlighting the narrowing gap between different airline types and proposes that further research on the changing environment in aviation is conducted.

Defining Belarusian Tourists’ Segment by the Example of Vilnius as their Destination

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the Belarusian tourist market on the example of Vilnius as a tourism destination. The main objectives of the article are: 1) to identify the dynamics of inbound tourist arrivals from Belarus to Lithuania for 2008–2013 and 2) to define preferences of tourists from Belarus and the main target audience on the Belarusian tourist market. The research has been conducted using such methods as secondary statistical data analysis of the main inbound tourism indicators and a survey using an online questionnaire. The paper has revealed that tourist arrivals from Belarus to Lithuania have been constantly growing, making up 1,045 million in 2013, which corresponds to 19.8% of all tourists that visited Lithuania that year. The empirical research has also found out that the prospective consumer of tourist services provided in Vilnius is a Belarusian aged 26–45, married, employed, with the average monthly income 501–1000 euro, has children, has been to Vilnius more than 4 times, prefers individual travelling, usually travels with family, visits Vilnius for shopping, events, excursions and transit purposes, stays in Vilnius for 2 days and spends about 340 euro. Taking into consideration the mentioned facts, the paper concludes that the development of marketing activities specifically tailored to the needs of Belarusian tourists will help to increase tourist arrivals and tourists’ expenses.

From the results of this study can be given advice to the PT. Benefits of wildlife-based land uses on private lands in Namibia and limitations affecting their development

AbstractLegislative changes during the 1960s–1970s granted user rights over wildlife to landowners in southern Africa, resulting in a shift from livestock farming to wildlife-based land uses. Few comprehensive assessments of such land uses on private land in southern Africa have been conducted and the associated benefits are not always acknowledged by politicians. Nonetheless, wildlife-based land uses are growing in prevalence on private land. In Namibia wildlife-based land use occurs over c. 287,000 km2. Employment is positively related to income from ecotourism and negatively related to income from livestock. While 87% of meat from livestock is exported ≥ 95% of venison from wildlife-based land uses remains within the country, contributing to food security. Wildlife populations are increasing with expansion of wildlife-based land uses, and private farms contain 21–33 times more wildlife than in protected areas. Because of the popularity of wildlife-based land uses among younger farmers, increasing tourist arrivals and projected impacts of climate change on livestock production, the economic output of wildlife-based land uses will probably soon exceed that of livestock. However, existing policies favour livestock production and are prejudiced against wildlife-based land uses by prohibiting reintroductions of buffalo Syncerus caffer, a key species for tourism and safari hunting, and through subsidies that artificially inflate the profitability of livestock production. Returns from wildlife-based land uses are also limited by the failure to reintroduce other charismatic species, failure to develop fully-integrated conservancies and to integrate black farmers sufficiently.

Tourism in Tamil Nadu – Governmental Policy and Strategy

Tourism is travelling for predominantly recreational or leisure purposes with a view to enhancing the knowledge and widening the wisdom of an individual. Tourism in today's world is no more a luxury or mere sight seeing. This has been made possible by the recent advances in transportation and information technology, which has enabled tourists to reach even the remotest parts of the earth by spending much less. Tourism in India was seen as a mere service sector for a long time. It has now been recognized as an export industry due to its multiple advantages. Though Tourism gained importance belatedly, it has grown at a rapid pace and enhanced its share in international tourist arrivals as well as in foreign exchange earnings. In recent years, tourism has become a priority sector in the State. This is reflected in higher budget allocations, growing partnership efforts between the public and private sectors, increased tourist arrivals, vibrant and vigorous promotion efforts, etc. the emphasis is to make Tourism a mass movement and a prime mover for promoting entrepreneurship, poverty reduction and economic development. The department of Tourism, Government of India has been assisting the states for the development of tourist infrastructure through the central financial assistance schemes. The far-sighted approach of creating affordable infrastructure, exploring new markets and focused marketing have contributed to sustained growth as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned.

Box-cox Estimation of International Tourism Demand for Nicaragua

The objective of this research was to estimate with linear, log-linear, and Box-Cox specifications of Nicaragua tourism exports to the developing countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and the developed country of the US. Using Zellner's seemingly unrelated regression procedure, estimates from the three approaches are compared to address: functional form selection; structure and influencing factors, such as income, relative prices, and travel costs; and identification of demand parameters, in particular elasticity values. The corresponding short-run income elasticity values range from a low of 1.5 for Costa Rica to a high of 2.21 for El Salvador with an average of 1.88. The results attest to the strength of the income effect in increasing tourist arrivals and that Nicaragua will benefit differently from income increases in the origin countries. The coefficients of the price variables have the hypothesized negative signs for all 15 countries. The short-run price elasticity values range from –0.59, the lowest value of all for Honduras, to –1.15 the largest for Guatemala. These results could indicate a moderate degree of substitutability of Nicaragua tourism for domestic tourism. With regard to the coefficients of the surface costs, in the short-run, tourists from El Salvador and Guatemala are in fact more sensitive to changes in surface costs. With respect to the US tourists we emphasize the importance of air transportation costs, with elasticity values greater than unity. The findings of this tourism disaggregated origin market approach could help policy makers and the private operating sectors tailor tourism marketing, commercialization, and promotion strategies to fit specific markets.
