Using a simplified multiperipheral model, we study the behavior of the longitudinal pion spectrum for the process $\mathrm{pp}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\pi}+$ anything in the region of small values of $x=\frac{2{{p}_{\ensuremath{\parallel}}}^{\mathrm{c}.\mathrm{m}.}}{{s}^{\frac{1}{2}}}$. We expect the occurrence of an inverted cusp in the spectrum at very large energies and the appearance of noticeable effects at the energies of the CERN intersecting storage rings.
