The Effects of Organizational Citizenship Behavior on Perceived Quality of Faculty Life: The Mediation Role of Perceived ICT Competencies

This study endeavors to explore the intricate relationship between organizational citizenship behavior and perceived quality of faculty life within the higher education sector in Palestine, with a specific focus on incorporating information and communication technology as a mediator in the link. The research encompasses a comprehensive examination of data collected from a sample of 355 faculty members affiliated with 11 universities in Palestine, employing both SPSS and Partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS 4 software for analysis. The study findings revealed a substantial and direct impact of organizational citizenship behavior on both information and communication technology and perceived quality of faculty life. Also, establish a statistically significant association between information and communication technology and perceived quality of faculty life. Importantly, information and communication technology emerge as a partial mediator in the nuanced link. Moreover, this study contributes to the discourse surrounding the quality of life among faculty members in the higher education sector. It also sheds light on incorporating social criteria in higher education intuitions and emphasizes the potential of information and communication technology (ICT) to contribute to achieving university goals. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

What factors contribute to in-role and extra-role safety behavior among food delivery riders?

Food delivery riders face significant road safety risks globally. Previous studies have primarily focused on the direct relationship between job demands, job resources, and road safety behaviors, often neglecting the potential indirect paths through dual processes, namely the health impairment process and the motivational process, which may lead to dangerous riding behaviors. Additionally, the impact of organizational citizenship behaviors on the safety of food delivery riders within the industry remains unexplored. This study aims to address these gaps by applying the dual processes of the Job Demands-Resources model (JD-R) to identify factors influencing the safety behaviors of food delivery riders in Vietnam. Data were collected through face-to-face surveys with 410 riders in public places. The findings show a nuanced interplay between job demands, resources, and safety behaviors. Specifically, job burnout acts as a bridge, mediating the influence of job demands on in-role safety behaviors. On the other hand, job resources-encompassing facets like job autonomy, performance feedback, technology support, and work support-indirectly shape both in-role and extra-role safety behaviors via the conduit of motivation. These resources not only bolster motivation but also serve as pillars in fostering a culture of safety among riders. This research not only deepens our understanding of the determinants of food delivery riders' safety behaviors but also highlights the pivotal role food delivery companies play in shaping these behaviors. By prioritizing the holistic well-being of their riders and offering robust support, these companies can foster an environment conducive to safety. Additionally, by integrating additional dimensions of job demands and resources into the JD-R model, this study paves the way for more comprehensive and nuanced future research in this domain.

Analisis Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) dan Work-Life Balance dalam Meningkatkan Kinerja Karyawan Generasi Z di PT Galang Tinggi Raya

Every company expects optimal employee performance to support the achievement of the company's main goals. This research aims to explore the impact of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) and Work-Life Balance on improving the performance of Generation Z employees at PT Galang Tinggi Raya. In addition, this research identifies supporting and inhibiting factors in improving the performance of Generation Z employees at PT Galang Tinggi Raya. This research involved a sample of 5 employees from PT Galang Tinggi Raya. The main approach in data collection is interviews as the primary method. The research results show that the implementation of OCB at PT Galang Tinggi Raya, especially in the aspect of Altruism (providing voluntary assistance to colleagues), has gone well. It was found that providing help to coworkers, both regarding tasks and personal problems, contributed positively to employee performance.

Volunteer centers are non-profit organizations that pursue public interest and are an important foundation for the growth of civil society. Accordingly, the effect of LMX (leader-member exchange relationship) of volunteer center workers on organizational citizenship behavior by mediating organizational commitment was studied through this study. With the implementation of the Framework Act on Volunteer Activities in 2005, the establishment of an institutional system of volunteering has a significant meaning that the volunteer center has grown into a non-profit organization with an intermediate organizational character. Therefore, in order to study the impact of organizational citizenship behavior to improve the quality of volunteer center workers, a study was conducted on 519 paid employees who had worked at a volunteer center for at least 3 months. Descriptive statistical analysis, t-test, and structural equation model analysis were conducted as research methods. Several meaningful results were derived through the study, which are as follows. First, LMX had a positive (+) effect on emotional commitment and continuous commitment. However, LMX did not show an effect on organizational citizenship behavior. Second, emotional commitment and continuous commitment had a positive (+) effect on organizational citizenship behavior. Third, LMX influenced organizational citizenship behavior by mediating emotional commitment and continuous commitment. These research findings suggested the necessity of improving LMX and organizational culture to increase organizational commitment to improve organizational citizenship behavior of volunteer center workers.

The Effect of Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Leader-member Exchange on Employee Performance of PT Gresik Migas: Employee Commitment as an Intervening Variable

Aims: The purpose of this study is to ascertain the impact of Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) on PT Gresik Migas employees' performance, as well as the mediating role that LMX and OCB play in employee performance.
 Study Design: This study was carried out with quantitative techniques, and an explanatory analysis was used to examine the data that was collected.
 Place of Study: The target of this research is employee of PT Gresik Migas in Gresik City. The total population in this study is 42 employees.
 Methodology: The personnel of PT Gresik Migas are the subject of this study. 42 employees made up the study's population. Saturated sampling is the method used to take a sample, and 42 employees make up the sample. Likert scale-based questionnaires are distributed as part of the data collecting process, and smartPLS 3.0 is used to process the collected data.
 Results: The results of the validity test state that there are invalid items, namely, 2 OCB items, 2 LMX items, and 2 employee performance items. Then the reliability test results state that everything is reliable. And hypothesis testing states that OCB affects performance because P values are 0.000 < 0.05. LMX affects performance because P values are 0.004 < 0.05. Employee commitment has no effect on performance because P values 0.451 > 0.05. OCB affects employee commitment because P values 0.034 < 0.05. LMX affects employee commitment because P values 0.045 < 0.05. Employee commitment cannot mediate the effect of OCB on performance because P values 0.454 > 0.05. And employee commitment cannot mediate the effect of LMX on performance because P values 0.469 > 0.05.
 Conclusion: This study discovered that LMX and OCB have a big impact on worker performance. The impact of employee dedication on performance is also negligible. Furthermore, the impact of OCB and LMX on employee performance cannot be mitigated by employee dedication.

Impact of organizational citizenship behavior on corporate sustainability through the mediation of TQM: focus on the textile industry in Bangladesh

PurposeThis study investigates the relationship between organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), total quality management (TQM), and corporate sustainability (CS). Specifically, the authors propose that TQM mediates the relationship between OCB and CS. The authors intend to demonstrate that TQM practice may be able to balance the interests of all stakeholders and hence improve the performance of all three CS elements, namely economic, social and environmental.Design/methodology/approachThe authors designed a survey questionnaire. The authors then collected data from managers that were in charge of quality control in 216 companies. Hypotheses were developed and regression and path analyses were used to test the hypotheses.FindingsOCB has a positive effect on both TQM and CS. TQM also is positively related to CS. Further, TQM mediates the relationship between OCB and CS. Further analyses show that the full mediation only applies to economic aspects of CS but not social and environmental.Practical implicationsCompanies that aim to achieve overall CS performance should not only encourage OCB in an organization, but also pay attention to TQM. Moreover, when deciding on hard and soft TQM, the priority should be given to hard TQM.Originality/valueThe authors investigate the relationship between OCB, TQM and CS in detail. The authors treat TQM in two elements of soft TQM and hard TQM while treating CS performance in three elements of economic, social and environmental performances. The authors further examine how both hard and soft TQM impacts CS performance differently.

Bibliometric analysis of organizational citizenship behavior using scopus database

Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) is one of the topics that continue to be discussed in organizational studies. This article aims to provide an overview of the intellectual landscape of OCB research by performing bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer. Data is taken from Scopus and includes articles on OCB published from 2019 to 2023. The results of the analysis show that OCB research has grown rapidly over the past three decades, with a significant increase in the number of publications and the number of citations. The article also points out that there are several key themes in OCB research, such as the conceptualization of OCB, factors that influence OCB, as well as the impact of OCB on organizations. However, some gaps in OCB research still need further investigation, such as contextual factors that influence OCB and the relationship of OCB to other topics in organizational studies. A Bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer can provide a clear picture of the intellectual landscape of OCB research and help researchers to identify trends and gaps in OCB research.

Organizational citizenship behavior is the key factor to promote the sustainable development of an organization, and it is of great significance to explore the research status, hotspots, and trends of organizational citizenship behavior to promote the sustainable development of the organization. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the knowledge structure and dynamic evolution trend of organizational citizenship behavior more comprehensively and objectively by using bibliometrics, in order to promote the development of theoretical research on organizational citizenship behavior and the sustainable development of the organization. This study found the following: Scholars have studied the factors of individual organizational citizenship behavior and group organizational citizenship behavior from three aspects: individual factors, leadership styles, and organizational factors. The research on the outcome of individual organizational citizenship behavior and group organizational citizenship behavior focused on performance and employee psychological state, and behavior mainly. Among them, the definition, nature, and scale of organizational citizenship behavior and the influence of different leadership styles on organizational citizenship behavior are core topics in this field; the study of the influence of employees’ psychological state on organizational citizenship behavior from the psychological perspective is a hot topic in this field; the different manifestations and connotations of organizational citizenship behavior based on different motivations and the impact of organizational citizenship behavior based on different motivations on employees’ psychology and work status are research trends in the future. The research conclusion not only enables scholars in this field to better understand the knowledge structure and research trend of organizational citizenship behavior, but also helps organization managers to fully motivate employees’ organizational citizenship behavior and promote the sustainable development of the organization.

Organizational citizenship behaviour on organizational performance: A knowledge-based organization

In the modern business environment, organizations are more than ever faced with the need for continuous improvement and innovation because of high complexity, dynamism and uncertainty. It is well established in literature that organizational citizenship behavior is one of the leading causes for the improvement of organizational performance. The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of organizational citizenship behaviors on organizational performance. It also investigates if employees’ performance can be considered as a human resource management to achieve organizational success. Our contribution is to explore rule of organizational citizenship behavior dimensions including conscientiousness, altruism, courtesy, sportsmanship and civic virtue on organizational performance. This study has used quantitative research methodology wherein the data have been collected from 285 employees in a knowledge-based organization in Iran using survey questionnaire as well as SPSS software to analyze the collected data. The results showed that organizational citizenship behaviors have significant positive influence on organizational performance. The implications of the study can be used by practitioners to maintain employees’ positive reactions to improve by considering organizational citizenship behaviors as a tool to enhance organizational performance.

The role of organizational citizenship behavior and patriotism in sustaining public health employees' performance.

Employee performance during health crises is currently one of the most alarming global concerns. Owing to its significance, scholars assessed factors that improve such performance. However, such improvements in performance require public health employees' discretionary behavior. We investigate the impact of organizational citizenship behavior and patriotism on employee performance, shifting the focus of the healthcare industry's employee performance conversation to how it can be sustained. We used cross-section data from 541 Chinese public health employees who made up the final sample in this study, which has been shown to be appropriate for investigations utilizing a quantitative method. The results of our empirical analysis demonstrate that organizational citizenship behavior positively contributes to sustaining employee performance. We found the same to be true about the positive mediating effect of patriotism on the aforementioned relationship. The findings offer insights into how a country's performance at both local and international levels propels and sustains the job performance of its citizenry. Thus, governments should be more efficient and ensure they maintain a robust institutional environment. This study provides theoretical and empirical evidence based on a research survey of the roles of organizational citizenship behavior and patriotism that sustain employee performance in China's public health sector, in particular during health crises.

It also aims at exploring the impact of organizational citizenship behavior on employee engagement. Data were collected from 151 employees from 33 non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) in Bangladesh. The Partial Least Squares (PLS) path modeling technique was used to analyze the data. The study found that ELB had significant and positive impacts on OCB, which, in turn, significantly influence employee engagement. Surprisingly, it is revealed that the OEC positively mediates the relationship between ELB and OCB but does not consider significantly which calls for further research in this regard. This study will positively contribute to the decision-making process of organizations’ top management and policy makers.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), leadership, individual characteristics and competence on the performance of teachers of SMK Swata in Bondowoso Regency. The population of this research is all employees who are in Private Vocational High Schools (SMKS) in all of Bondowoso Regency, totaling 975 Educators of Education Personnel (PTK). The number of samples of this study was 110, with a purposive sampling method. Validity and reliability tests were conducted to test the measuring instrument in the form of a questionnaire. The analysis technique used is WarpPLS 2.0. The results showed that organizational citizenship behavior had a positive effect on teacher performance, leadership had a positive effect on teacher performance, individual characteristics had no positive effect on teacher performance, competence had no positive effect on teacher performance.

Organizational Citizenship Behavior, Organizational Climate, and Employee Performance

This study investigates the impact of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and climate (OC) on employee performance. The population used contains employees working in one of the pharmaceutical companies in Cimahi, West Java, where their sum is 1,533 people. By the Slovin formula with a margin of error of 10%, the sum of samples needed is 94. Furthermore, they are picked up by the simple random sampling method. The structural equation model based on partial least square is utilized to analyze the data because of the sample size. After testing hypotheses and discussing the facts, this research infers that OCB has no effect on employee performance, but OC does with a positive sign.
