Allele frequencies of 15 STR loci of Tibetan lived in Tibet Lassa

Allele frequency data for 15 Short Tandem Repeat (STR) loci included in the AmpFl STR Identifiler™ kit were obtained from a sample of 196 healthy unrelated individuals of Tibetan born in Lassa of Tibet Autonomy Region of China (SW China). The distribution of these observed genotypes were not significantly different from the expected distribution according to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.

Allele frequencies of 15 STR loci of Luoba ethnic group in Tibet (Southwestern China)

Allele frequency data for 15 short tandem repeat (STR) loci included in the AmpFlSTR Identifiler™ kit were obtained from a sample of 93 healthy unrelated individuals of Luoba population born in Tibet Autonomy Region of China (Southwestern China). In these samples, 141 alleles and 365 genotypes were observed for 15 STR loci. The distribution of these observed genotypes were not significantly different from the expected distribution according to Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium.

Analysis of STR polymorphisms in the Chao Shan population in South China

Chao Shao area is a littoral under the jurisdiction of Guangdong province, abutting on Fujian. Historically, the area was relatively isolated from other parts of China until 1990s, when it started to take a small number of immigrants from other regions. People residing in this area speak in unique dialect and have distinct lifestyle. Allele frequencies for the 15 short tandem repeats (STR) loci included in the AmpFLSTR ® Identifiler™ kit were obtained from a sample of 144 unrelated Chinese born and living in the Chao Shan area, South China.

Northern Polish population data and forensic usefulness of 15 autosomal STR loci

Allele frequencies for the 15 STR loci in the AmpF/STR ® Identifiler™ kit (Applied Biosystems): D8S1179, D21S11, D7S820, CSF1PO, D3S1358, TH01, D13S539, D2S1338, D19S433, VWA, TPOX, D18S51, D5S818, and FGA were determined in a sample of 145 unrelated individuals living in the northern part of Poland. The values of heterozygosity, polymorphic information content (PIC), power of discrimination (PD), power of exclusion (PE), paternity index (PI) and matching probability (pM)were calculated.

Genetic profiling of a central Venezuelan population using 15 STR markers that may be of forensic importance

The AmpFℓSTR ® Identifiler ™ kit has recently been accepted for use in DNA databasing of forensic samples in the FBI’s National DNA Index System. In the present study, we used this kit to analyze the allele distribution of 15 short tandem repeat markers (STR) in individuals living in Caracas city, Venezuela. The allele frequencies of two of these STR, D2S1338 and D19S433, have not previously been reported for this or any other Latin American population. The results indicate that for the population here studied, the 15 STR tested are useful markers for paternity testing and forensic casework.

Allele Frequencies for 15 Autosomal STR Loci on U.S. Caucasian, African American, and Hispanic Populations*

Abstract Anonymous liquid blood samples with self-identified ethnicities were purchased from Interstate Blood Bank (Memphis, TN) and Millennium Biotech, Inc. (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) and extracted using a modified salt out procedure (1). The extracted DNA was then quantified using UV spectrophotometry at 260 nm and a PicoGreen assay (2). A 150-µL aliquot of the extracted DNA solution was directly quantified in a Cary 100 double-beam spectrophotometer (Varian Analytical Instruments, Walnut Creek, CA). Low volume micro-cuvettes allowed for accurate absorbance measurements (A = 0.2 to 0.6) without prior dilution of the stock extracted DNA. Sample concentrations were adjusted to 1 ng/µL for typing purposes using the PicoGreen assay values. Fifteen autosomal STR markers (the 13 CODIS core loci and D19S433 and D2S1338) were typed along with amelogenin using the Applied Biosystems AmpF1STR® Identifiler™ kit (3). PCR amplification was carried out on a GeneAmp® 9700 (Applied Biosystems) using 1 ng of DNA according to kit protocols (3) with the exception of reduced volume reactions (5 µL instead of 25 µL) and reduced cycles (26 instead of 28). Amplification products were diluted 1:15 in HiDi™ formamide and GS500-LIZ internal size standard (Applied Biosystems) and analyzed on the 16-capillary ABI Prism® 3100 Genetic Analyzer without prior denaturation of samples.
