Effects of cytoreductive surgery combined with hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy on prognosis of patients with advanced gallbladder cancer.

Gallbladder cancer (GC) is a common malignant tumor and one of the leading causes of cancer-related death worldwide. It is typically highly invasive, difficult to detect in the early stages, and has poor treatment outcomes, resulting in high mortality rates. The available treatment options for GC are relatively limited. One emerging treatment modality is hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). HIPEC involves delivering heated chemotherapy directly into the abdominal cavity. It combines the strategies of surgical tumor resection and localized chemotherapy administration under hyperthermic conditions, aiming to enhance the concentration and effectiveness of drugs within the local tumor site while minimizing systemic toxicity. To determine the effects of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) combined with HIPEC on the short-term prognosis of patients with advanced GC. Data from 80 patients treated at the Punan Branch of Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine between January 2018 and January 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The control group comprised 44 patients treated with CRS, and the research group comprised 36 patients treated with CRS combined with HIPEC. Then, the survival time and prognostic factors of the two groups were compared, as well as liver and kidney function indices before and six days after surgery. Adverse reactions and complications were recorded in both groups. The baseline data of the research and control groups were similar (P > 0.05). Six days after surgery, the alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubin, and direct bilirubin levels significantly decreased compared to the preoperative levels in both groups (P < 0.05). However, the values did not differ between the two groups six days postoperatively (P > 0.05). Similarly, the postoperative creatinine and blood urea nitrogen levels were significantly lower than the preoperative levels in both groups (P < 0.05), but they did not differ between the groups six days postoperatively (P > 0.05). Furthermore, the research group had fewer postoperative adverse reactions than the control group (P = 0.027). Finally, a multivariate Cox analysis identified the tumor stage, distant metastasis, and the treatment plan as independent factors affecting prognosis (P < 0.05). The three-year survival rate in the study group was higher than that in the control group (P = 0.002). CRS combined with HIPEC lowers the incidence of adverse reactions and improves survival in patients with advanced GC.

Analysis of perioperative efficacy and safety of cytoreductive surgery in the treatment of colorectal cancer peritoneal metastases

Objective: To analyzed perioperative safety of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) for patients with colorectal cancer peritoneal metastasis (CRPM) and to construct a predictive model for serious advese events (SAE). Methods: A descriptive case-series study was conducted to retrospectively collect the clinicopathological data and treatment status (operation time, number of organ resection, number of peritoneal resection, and blood loss, etc.) of 100 patients with peritoneal metastases from colorectal cancer or appendix mucinous adenocarcinoma who underwent CRS at the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from January 2019 to August 2021. There were 53 males and 47 females. The median age was 52.0 (39.0-61.8) years old. Fifty-two patients had synchronous peritoneal metastasis and 48 had metachronous peritoneal metastasis. Fifty-two patients received preoperative neoadjuvant therapy. Primary tumor was located in the left colon, the right colon and the rectum in 43, 28 and 14 cases, respectively. Fifteen patients had appendix mucinous adenocarcinoma. Measures of skewed distribution are expressed as M (range). Perioperative safety was analyzed, perioperative grade III or higher was defined as SAE. Risk factors associated with the occurrence of SAEs were analyzed using multivariate logistic regression. A nomogram was plotted by R software to predict SAE, the efficacy of which was evaluated using the area under the ROC curve (AUC) and correction curves. Results: The median peritoneal cancer index (PCI) score was 16 (1-39). Sixty-eight (68.0%) patients achieved complete tumor reduction (tumor reduction score: 0-1). Sixty-two patients were treated with intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy (HIPEC). Twenty-one (21.0%) patients developed 37 SAEs of grade III-IV, including 2 cases of ureteral injury, 6 cases of perioperative massive hemorrhage or anemia, 7 cases of digestive system, 15 cases of respiratory system, 4 cases of cardiovascular system, 1 case of skin incision dehiscence, and 2 cases of abdominal infection. No grade V SAE was found. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that CEA (OR: 8.980, 95%CI: 1.428-56.457, P=0.019), PCI score (OR: 7.924, 95%CI: 1.486-42.259, P=0.015), intraoperative albumin infusion (OR: 48.959, 95%CI: 2.115-1133.289, P=0.015) and total volume of infusion (OR: 24.729, 95%CI: 3.956-154.562, P=0.001) were independent risk factors for perioperative SAE in CRS (all P<0.05). Based on the result of multivariate regression models, a predictive nomogram was constructed. Internal verification showed that the AUC of the nomogram was 0.926 (95%CI: 0.872-0.980), indicating good prediction accuracy and consistency. Conclusions: CRS is a safe and effective method to treat CRPM. Strict screening of patients and perioperative fluid management are important guarantees for reducing the morbidity of SAE.

Application of CT Ultrasonography Combined with Microscopic Intraperitoneal Hyperthermic Perfusion Chemotherapy in Postoperative Treatment of Oocyst Carcinoma.

For the postoperative treatment of oocyte carcinoma, CT and CT ultrasonography combined with microscopic intraperitoneal should be combined with peritoneal heat perfusion chemotherapy. The authors selected 50 patients who received treatment for ovarian cancer from 2017 to 2018 and divided them into two groups (observation group, 30 cases, control group, 20 cases). Cisplatin, associated with peritoneal hyperthermia, led the control group, and we monitored all patients for 1 year and provided clinical trials, lifestyle, and results for both disease group. The experimental results showed that the target reduction rate of the control group was 70%, while that of the control group was only 40%, lower than that of the control group P < 0.05. The life expectancy of the control group was higher than that of the control group, P < 0.05. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bone marrow compression, and constipation in the study group were slightly higher than those in the control group (35%), but there was no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). Chemotherapy combined with intraperitoneal infusion of loplatin has no side effects, helps improve survival, and can be used in a variety of clinical trials.

Effects of carboplatin combined with paclitaxel-based intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy on serum levels of HE4 and DJ-1 in patients with advanced recurrent ovarian cancer.

Objective:To analyze the effects of carboplatin combined with paclitaxel-based intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy (IPCH) on serum levels of human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) and mitogen-dependent oncogene-1 (DJ-1) in patients with advanced recurrent ovarian cancer (OC).Methods:From July 2019 to July 2020, patients with advanced recurrent OC (n=92) treated in Affiliated Hospital of Hebei Engineering University were selected as study subjects. According to the random number table method, patients were divided into control group and observation group. Patients in the control group were treated with carboplatin combined with paclitaxel-based intravenous chemotherapy, and patients in the observation group were treated with carboplatin combined with paclitaxel-based IPCH. The therapeutic effects, serum levels of HE4, DJ-1 and human kallikrein 10 (HK-10), peripheral blood immune indexes and adverse reactions of patients were compared between the two groups.Results:The response rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (p<0.05); after treatment, the indexes of HE4, DJ-1 and HK-10 in the two groups were significantly decreased, while the indexes of CD3+CD4+, CD3+CD56+ and CD3+CD4+/CD3+CD8+ were significantly increased; moreover, significantly lower indexes of HE4, DJ-1 and HK-10 and significantly higher indexes of CD3+CD4+, CD3+CD56+ and CD3+CD4+/CD3+CD8+ were found in the observation group when compared with the control group (p<0.05). The severity of myelosuppression, nausea and vomiting in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the total tumor metastasis rate in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (p<0.05).Conclusions:Carboplatin combined with paclitaxel IPCH had obvious inhibitory effects on HE4, DJ-1 and other serum tumor markers in patients with advanced recurrent OC, with a more prominent clinical effect, and could further significantly reduce the risk of adverse reactions and metastasis.

Preventive intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy for patients with T4 stage colon adenocarcinoma.

Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) has been shown to be an effective treatment for peritoneal tumors; whether preventive HIPEC after radical resection for T4 stage colon adenocarcinoma could decrease peritoneal recurrence remains unknown. The aim of the present study was to compare peritoneal recurrence and short-term survival in patients with T4 stage colon adenocarcinoma undergoing HIPEC plus adjuvant chemotherapy or adjuvant chemotherapy alone following surgery. We retrospectively reviewed T4 stage colon adenocarcinoma patients who had radical tumor resection at our institution between January 2014 and January 2019. Clinical data were extracted from the database at our institution, and patient survival and long-term complications were assessed through repeated outpatient examinations and telephone interviews. A total of 352 patients were included in this study; 157 patients received postoperative HIPEC plus adjuvant chemotherapy (HIPEC group), 195 patients received adjuvant chemotherapy alone (conventional chemotherapy group). Forty-one (26.1%) patients in the HIPEC group had a peritoneal recurrence and the peritoneum was the first site of tumor recurrence in 6 (14.6%) of them. However, 73 (37.4%) patients experienced peritoneal recurrence in the conventional group, and the peritoneum was the first site of tumor recurrence in 25 (34.2%) (p = 0.019). Disease-free survival in the HIPEC group at 1 and 3years was 93.3% and 61.1%, respectively, versus 89.3% and 51.7% in the conventional chemotherapy group (p = 0.038). Overall survival in the HIPEC group at 1 and 3years was 100.0% and 82.7%, respectively, versus 100.0% and 76.9% in the conventional chemotherapy group (p = 0.420). The two groups did not differ with respect to severe complications. Preventive HIPEC after radical surgery may decrease peritoneal recurrence and promote disease-free survival for T4 stage colon adenocarcinoma. Large-scale randomized controlled studies are needed to confirm the results of our study.

Effect of early body cavity continuous circulation hyperthermia perfusion chemotherapy combined with systemic chemotherapy (and nursing) on survival rate and serum tumor markers in patients with advanced gastric cancer

This study was designed to investigate the effects of early coelom continued circulatory hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy combined with systemic chemotherapy on the survival and serum tumor markers. A total of 128 patients with advanced gastric carcinoma who have received surgical treatments were selected and were randomly divided into study group (receiving early circulatory intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy combined with systemic chemotherapy postoperatively) and control group (receiving chemotherapy alone postoperatively), with 64 cases in each. Comparison of serum tumor markers (CA724, CA242), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), immune function indexes (CD3+, CD4+, CD8+), and 5-year survival rate was assessed. Before treatment, there was no significant difference in the serum tumor markers (CA724 and CA242) as well as the serum VEGF, MMP-2, and MMP-9 levels among the two groups ( P &gt; 0.05). However, the above parameters in the study group were significantly lower than control group 8 weeks after the treatment ( P &lt; 0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference in CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ and CD4+/CD8+ between the two groups ( P &gt; 0.05). Eight weeks after the treatment, the CD3+, CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group ( P &lt; 0.05), while the CD8+ levels was significantly lower than the latter group ( P &lt; 0.05). The 2-year recurrence rate in the study group was lower than the control group ( P &lt; 0.05). Furthermore, survival rates (1-year, 3-year and 5-year) of the study group were all higher than control group ( P &lt; 0.05). Early circulatory hyperthermia perfusion chemotherapy combined with systemic chemotherapy contributed to the decrease in the serum tumor markers (CA724, CA242) as well as the serum VEGF, MMP-2, and MMP-9 levels, improved the immune functions. This therapeutic regimen prolonged the long-term survival conditions of the patients as well as proved the safety and effectiveness.

Efficacy observation of primary chemotherapy combined with postoperative intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy for treatment of advanced ovarian cancer

Objective To analyze the clinical effects, complications and prognosis of primary chemotherapy combined with postoperative intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy in the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer. Methods The clinical data of 64 patients with advanced ovarian cancer in Shanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital from May 2015 to May 2017 were analyzed retrospectively. Conventional cytoreductive surgery (CDS) was performed in all patients. According to the different therapeutic regimen before and after operation, the patients were divided into 2 groups, including 32 cases treated with primary chemotherapy combined with postoperative intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy (the observation group), and 32 cases treated with intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy after operation (the control group). The clinical effect, complications and prognosis were compared between the two groups. Results The blood loss in the observation group [(512±165) ml] was lower than that in the control group [(815±186) ml]. The amount of ascites in the observation group [(716±160) ml] was lower than that in the control group [(1 279±236) ml], and the differences were statistically significant (t=6.890, t=11.153 respectively, both P < 0.05). Moreover, the duration of surgery in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group [(125±15) min vs. (185±24) min; t=18.572, P < 0.05]. The total incidence of complications and 2-year recurrence rate in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the 2-year survival rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (both P < 0.05). Conclusion Primary chemotherapy combined with postoperative intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy for advanced ovarian cancer has a favorable effect with less complications and good prognosis, which is worthy of clinical application. Effects of perioperative body temperature management on intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy patients with abdominal malignant tumor

Objective To study the effects of perioperative body temperature management on intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy patients with abdominal malignant tumor. Methods From June to Decmber 2016, a total of 120 intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy patients with abdominal malignant tumor who met the inclusion criteria were recruited and randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 60 cases in each. All the subjects were given routine operation nursing. On the basis of that, the observation group were given perioperative body temperature management. The body temperature, heart rate, pulse pressure and the difference of tumor markers of carcineombryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen19-9 (CA199) before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The difference value of temperature, heart rate and pulse pressure between 30 minutes after treatment and before treatment in the observation group were (3.7±0.4) ℃, (12.4±2.7) bp/min and (5.6±1.9) mmHg respectively. The fluctuation of vital signs was lower than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (t=6.062, 14.897, 10.392; P<0.01) . The observation group patients' CEA was (52.8±2.4) μg/L, and CA199 was (106.1±5.3) U/ml after treatment, which were both lower than the control group, with statistical differences (t=31.415, 33.803; P<0.05) . Conclusions Perioperative body temperature management could significantly stabilize the body temperature, heart rate and pulse pressure, which could significantly promote intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy's curative effect for patient with abdominal malignant tumor. Bladder intracavitary hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy for the prevention of recurrence of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer after transurethral resection.

Preventing the recurrence of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) post-transurethral resection (TUR) remains challenging. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness and safety of bladder intracavitary hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy (BHPC) for prevention of NMIBC recurrence post-TUR. Between December 2006 and December 2014, 53patients with NMIBC who underwent TUR were randomly assigned to receive BHPC (BHPC group, 28patients) or intravesical chemotherapy alone (chemotherapy group, 25patients) at the Intracelom Hyperthermic Perfusion Therapy Center of Guangzhou Medical University Cancer Hospital (Guangzhou, China). BHPC was performed by combining perfusion-based hyperthermia with chemotherapeutic agent mitomycinC (MMC) in the bladder, and the chemotherapy group of patients received bladder MMC perfusion. The concentration of MMC in the perfusion fluid and serum were assessed at different time-points. Tumor recurrence, disease-free survival (DFS), and side-effects were recorded and compared between the 2groups. Results revealed that BHPC was performed smoothly, at ~44̊C in the bladder cavity. Patients tolerated BHPC, and no side-effects were observed. Both BHPC and intravesical chemotherapy achieved a high MMC concentration in the bladder perfusion liquid, but low MMC concentration in the serum, although serum MMC concentrations in the BHPC group were significantly higher (P<0.05). The tumor recurrence rate was significantly lower (10.7vs. 28.0%; P=0.02) and the DFS period was significantly longer (37±1.2 vs. 19±0.9months; P=0.001) in the BHPC group than in the chemotherapy group. Our results demonstrated that BHPC is safe and effective for preventing NMIBC recurrence post-TUR and prolongs DFS.

The factors affecting the survival and prognosis of patients with III~IV gastric cancer: a report of 156 cases

Objective To investigate the factors affecting the survival and prognosis of patients with stage Ⅲ~Ⅳgastric cancers. Methods A total of 156 cases of Ⅲ~Ⅳ gastric cancer was studied retrospectively from September 1, 2006 to December 31, 2012. Kaplan-Meier analysis, Log-rank univariate analysis, Cox proportional hazards model analysis were used to analyze survival and prognostic factors. Results Twelve cases were lost, to the end of the follow-up, 22 cases were alive. The median survival time was 29.3 months. 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year overall survival rates were 83.3%, 37.8%, and 21.2%, respectively. Univariate analysis showed that tumor size, tumor node metastasis (TNM) staging, curative resection, hyperthermic intraperitoneal perfusion chemotherapy (HIPEC), and postoperative chemotherapy were correlated with prognosis (P<0.05 for all). Multivariate analysis showed that TNM staging, curative resection, HIPEC, and postoperative chemotherapy were independent prognostic factors (P<0.01 for all). Conclusions TNM staging, curative resection, hyperthermic intraperitoneal perfusion chemotherapy and postoperative chemotherapy are the independent factors affecting the prognosis of stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ gastric cancer after resection. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal perfusion chemotherapy and postoperative chemotherapy can improve their survival. Key words: Stomach neoplasms; Prognosis

Study of introperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy combined with systemic neoadjuvent chemotherapy in treatment of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis

The aim of this study is to discuss the curative effect of introperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy(IHPC) combined with systemic neoadjuvant chemotherapy on the gastric cancer patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis. Sixty-four patients with gastric cancer and peritoneal carcinomatosis who were hospitalized in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery of First Hospital of Jilin University from December 2006 to December 2013. After peritoneal carcinomatosis was confirmed during laparoscopic exploration, FOLFOX6 (oxaliplatin and calcium folinate and 5-Fu) was performed for systemic chemotherapy. One course was 14 days and a complete treatment includes four courses. At the same time, patients underwent peritoneal catheter insertion and received IHPC(5-Fu 1 500 mg/m(2) and Cisplatin 35 mg/m(2) were added into 0.9% NaCl solution 2 000 ml, the infusion velocity was 35-45 ml/min, infusion time was 45-60 minutes, the temperature was controlled to 41°C). A comprehensive evaluation was taken after the fourth course of treatment before operation. Further surgical therapy was performed according to the assessment result. Sixty-four patients received IHPC combined with systemic chemotherapy. Thirty-two patients(50.0%) had partial response, 18(28.1%) stable disease, and 14(21.9%) progressive disease after chemotherapy. No severe complications or death occurred during the neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Thirty-two patients(50.0%) received radical resection, 10(15.6%) palliative operation, and another 22 patients(37.4%) didn't comply with inclusion criteria of operation. Patients receiving operation had a median survival time of 678 days, which was significantly longer than patients without operation, with a median survival time of 251(χ(2)=23.34, P=0.02). IHPC combined with systemic chemotherapy is an effective therapeutic method for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis in terms of reducing preoperative tumor load and achieving radical resection.

Ovarian cancer is a clinical type of gynecological malignant tumor with poor prognosis and a high mortality rate. At present, the primary treatment method used is surgery, with chemotherapy as an ajdunctive therapy. Thus, new short-term treatments should be identified. The aim of the present study was to investigate the short-term curative effects and safety of docetaxel combined with intraperitoneal cisplatin chemotherapy and hyperthermia treatment of advanced ovarian cancer. A total of 112 cases of advanced (stage III–IV) ovarian cancer patients confirmed by clinical diagnosis between October 2014 and December 2015 were included in the study. The patients were randomly divided into the study and control groups (n=56 cases). The control group was treated with docetaxel and intraperitoneal cisplatin hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy, while the study group was treated with docetaxel venous chemotherapy and intraperitoneal cisplatin cyclical hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy with BR-TRG-1 body cavity hyperthermic perfusion treatment system. Clinical treatment results for short-term curative effects and adverse reactions were compared and analyzed 8 weeks after treatment. The total effective rate of the study and control groups were 87.5 and 62.5%, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The controlled rate of ascites, remission rate of tumor and descent rate of CA125 of patients in the study group were better than patients in the control group (P<0.05). The rate of adverse reactions of patients in the study group was 39.3%, and the grade of toxicity was from I to II, while the rate of adverse reactions of patients in the control group was 55.4%, and the grade of toxicity was from II to III. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). In conclusion, applying the combination of docetaxel, intraperitoneal cisplatin hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy and hyperthermia to treat advanced ovarian cancer can improve the curative effects with little toxicity; thus, it is worthy of promotion and application.

The impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with tumor cell death and postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy on efficacy and quality of life of patients with ovarian cancer

Objective To observe the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with tumor cells reduction and postoperative intraperitoneal perfusion chemotherapy on the efficacy and quality of life of ovarian cancer. Methods From October 2010 to October 2013 at the Department of gynecology, Taizhou Municipal Hospital, 65 cases of ovarian cancer patients for the treatment of stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ were randomly divided into intervention group (n=32) and control group (n=33). Patients in the intervention group received neoadjuvant chemotherapy after tumor cell reduction cytoreductive surgery and received postoperative intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy and conventional surgery after chemotherapy. Patients in the control group received conventional tumor cell cytoreductive surgery plus postoperative chemotherapy. Surgical status, the effectiveness of treatment, and adverse reactions were compared between two groups. Moreover, survival quality score, relapse rate, and mortality differences were compared between two groups. Results For the intervention group, operation status and effective treatment were better than the control group. The proportion of adverse reactions had no significant difference between two groups. Survival quality had no statistically significant difference between before treatment and after receiving treatment. Quality of life in the intervention group was better than that of the control group. Relapse rate, and mortality rate in the intervention group was lower than the control group. Conclusions Accepted neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with tumor cytoreductive surgery and surgery after intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy can improve the effectiveness of treatment of ovarian cancers, and improve the quality of life, with better short-term effect. The application effect of feed forward control in chemohyperthermia combined with extracorporeal high-frequency hyperthermia

Objective To reduce the occurrence of adverse events by adopting feed forward control method in chemohyperthermia combined with extracorporeal high-frequency hyperthermia in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion and malignant peritoneal effusion.Methods 60 patients were divided into control group and experimental group according to the therapeutic sequence.Experimental group used feed forward control method to manage risk links,while control group used traditional management method.Result There were statistically significant difference in the rate of nursing adverse events,test results,equipment management quality and disinfection and isolation quality between two groups (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Feed forward control method can effectively prevent and reduce nursing adverse events in new technological treatment,improve the consciousness of risk management and nursing quality management level of nurses. Safety and efficacy of intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy following laparoscopic palliative resection for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastasis

To investigate the safety and efficacy of postoperative intraperitoneal hyperthermic perfusion chemotherapy(IHPEC) following laparoscopic palliative resection for advanced gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastasis. Between March 2010 and October 2013, 37 patients with advanced gastric cancer were treated by IHPEC(cisplatin 100 mg, 5-fluorouracil 1000 mg and saline 2000 mL) following laparoscopic palliative resection in our department between March 2010 and October 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. Short-term efficacy and adverse reactions were observed. Complete remission (CR), partial remission (PR), stable disease (SD) and progressive disease (PD) were found in 18, 4, 8 and 7 cases respectively, and the total progression-free rate was 59.5%(22/37). The significant improved, improved, stable and progressive cases of Karnofsky performance status were 6, 13, 10 and 8 respectively, and the rate of improved and stable cases was 78.4% (29/37). Serious adverse reactions (class III ( or IIII) were noted in 3 cases (8.1%), including 2 cases of abdominal pain (class III), 1 case of nausea and vomiting. The modality of IHPEC adopting cisplatin plus 5-fluorouracil regimen following laparoscopic palliative resection for advanced gastric cancer patients with peritoneal metastasis is technically feasible and safe, which has certain effect on postponing the progression of gastric cancer.
