A Combined Quality Function Deployment Approach for Determining the Quality Characteristics of Undergraduate Programs

In this study, a combined approach of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) has been used to extract and to determine the important quality characteristics of undergraduate programs. We have required to take advantage of the exploratory factor analysis as a data/dimension reduction tool in order to improve the effectiveness of QFD, because of a great number of customer requirements. 10 latent factors (Academic Staff (AS), Physical Facilities (PF), Career Prospects (CP), The Competence of Canteen Facility (CCF), Scientific Research Activities (SRA), Campus Design (CD), Club Activities (CA), Social Environment (SE), Physical Environment-Interior (PEI) and Adequate Library Services (ALS)) as students' requirements were determined after the implementation of EFA. The house of quality was constructed on basis of those 10 factors. Consequently, the findings are going to provide insights and sentiments to researchers and managers in higher education system.

Trash Click Design Using House of Quality

The purpose of this research is to design bags as garbage bags used by mountain climbers who usually use plastic bags to store their trash. This garbage bag is called click trash. To ensure that trash clicks as produced trash bags will meet the needs of mountain climbers, product design is carried out using the concept of Quality Function Deployment in the form of a matrix shaped house called the House of Quality. This matrix changes the customer’s voice directly to the specifications of the bag produced, from the questionnaire distribution 30 statements were obtained. Of these 30 statements, twelve technical characteristics were established in response to the needs of climbers which would influence the design of the specifications of the trash as a garbage bag. The click rubbish design made by referring to the technical characteristics produced so that the click rubbishes specifications fit the needs of mountain climbers. The results of the design of this bag are expected to meet the needs of mountain climbers as a place to transport rubbish during climbing activities because of its beneficial that easy to use, more practical, can be used repeatedly, and to prevent leaving the trash in the mountaint.

Integrated QFD, Fuzzy Linear Regression and ZOGP

In the current, highly competitive marketplace, customer demand is a major factor in the product design process. Most firms make an effort to indicate that their products differ from the competitors' products. The purpose of this paper is to understand customers' expectations of and technical requirements for e-stores and to evaluate most popular e-stores in Turkey (i.e., ES1, ES2, ES3). In this study, the authors aim to understand the customer expectations and technical requirements by using quality function deployment (QFD). To prepare the house of quality (HoQ), the authors surveyed 20 experts who are customers who have elite membership (their expenses for these e-stores are more than regular customers and have elite cards) of the three e-stores and academicians. After creating the HoQ, the authors employ fuzzy linear regression to evaluate the relationships between customer expectations and technical requirements and among technical requirements themselves. Finally, the authors use zero-one goal programming (ZOGP) to select the most desirable e-store.

Integration of Quality Function Deployment and Kano Model in Service Business

The purpose of this study is to determine the priority of customer requirements and technical responses for restaurants using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) with the integration of the Kano Model. The data is collected through direct observations, interviews, and surveying of 150 respondents who are customers of restaurant B in Bandung. The data is analyzed by combining Kano Model with QFD in helping to build the first matrix in the House of Quality, namely the customer input matrix. This matrix together with other matrices forms a complete building of House of Quality. The findings show that there are six service attributes in a 'must-be' category. The two technical responses that should be prioritized for improvement because their importance level is above average are improvement of the facilities and maintenance of the facilities for the consumers. The two most highlighted facilities include a place of worship that is comfortable and clean, and a larger parking area.

Green Urbanism Embedded in TOD for Urban Built Environment Planning and Design

Even though the TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) concepts contribute great innovations to our next-generation metropolis, their means and focusing are primarily on the sustainable transportation dimension. It is debatable that the development mode advocated by TOD seems to lack relative considerations of both the ecological and environmental dimensions. Consequently, to achieve a better urban life, our urban planning and design should incorporate the consideration of peripheral areas that have not been further valued in the past, such as ecology diversity, natural energy recycling or reuse, and livable habitat, rather than just focusing on the sustainable transportation dimension of conventional TOD. This study thus explores and summarizes the design criteria of Green TOD through literature review and obtains the evaluation criteria via experts. Furthermore, through the FDT (fuzzy Delphi technique) method, the evaluation criteria from the expert questionnaire are screened. In turn, more important evaluation criteria are obtained objectively. Based on the screening results of FDT, we adopt the HOQ (house of quality) model integrated by FANP (fuzzy analytic network process) and QFD (quality function deployment) to allocate the weighting for each criterion scientifically. Finally, the evaluation results and hybrid decision model provided in this study can be used as an initial reference for improving the planning and design of today’s built environment. We believe that these pioneered attempts will help us in attaining our ultimate pursuit of urban sustainability and livability.

APPLIED QUALITY FUNCTION DEPLOYMENT (QFD) FOR ELONGATED CHAIR DESIGN

In line with the times, the need for product development ideas has a high selling value. Economic value and product efficiency are highly considered in the design, one of which is the design of a stall or café chair. In general, the most used seats are permanent. In other words, it can't adjust when used for a few people or for a lot of people. Therefore it is necessary to design stalls and café chairs that can be stretched or shortened automatically. The purpose of designing this elongated chair is, it can be arranged so that it can be shortened, with this advantage we can save space and expand the space and of course it will be designed according to consumer needs. The elongated chair is made using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. Some methods that must be done, namely the Voice of Customer collection phase, which is done by distributing questionnaires to 25 respondents. The next step is House of Quality based on the results of the questionnaire. After the HOQ is completed, then the analysis and implementation phase of the results obtained at HOQ will be applied to the product design.

Design of Reverse and Missing Jaw Detector Jig using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)

A seal manufacture factory located in Ipoh, Perak produces two types of seal available in the factory which are metal and plastic seals. Due to manual assembly, human operator tends to get fatigue for doing repetitive task in one long shift. When this occurs, minor error such as misplace or wrong orientation of jaw will occur. Moreover the jaw sometimes can be missing during transportation of work – in – progress to another process. The objective is to design a jig that have the ability to detect reverse and missing jaw so that the finish product which has the quality problem will be prevented from being shipped to customers. The jig must also have a flexibility to be used for other plastic seal product. For methodology, each and every stage was explained in detail. In result and discussion section, House of Quality (HOQ) was used to determine the highest criteria weightage. The important criteria which will be carried forward to Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) are 15.9% on flexibility and ease of maintenance, 15.4% on both ease of use and longevity of jig usage, lastly 15.2% for accuracy checking. The result obtain after AHP computation are Design 1 with 20.7%, Design 2 with 13.7%, Design 3 with 22%, Design 4 with 27.1% and Design 5 with 16.5%. Design 4 is selected due to the highest weightage after computation. Final selected design was justified according to characteristic needed in objective.

Perancangan dan pengembangan produk ban hemat bahan bakar, aman dan nyaman dengan pendekatan Quality Function Deployment

Product development by integrating consumer needs, technical capabilities and resources will enhance industrial competitiveness in era of globalization. Theme of this study is application of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to develop design of tire products with consider fuel-efficient, safe and comfortable using. Based on primary data through questionnaires, there are 9 attributes that are desirable for consumers. In addition, through the brainstorming method, obtained 10 attributes that become technical specifications that can be developed into the product design. By arranging House of Quality (HOQ), the priority attributes of product design and development are light tires (20%), thin dimension (18%), synthetic rubber (14%), soft compounds (13%) and Smooth grip (11%).

Reducing Disturbance in Parking System by Using Quality Function Deployment (QFD) Method

This paper purposed is to apply Quality Function Deployment (QFD) for Parking System Improvement at Taman Bendahara from perspective of customers. The main issue for the QFD problem was from the ‘what’ the customer requirement and ‘how’ to implement the problem to solutions. These two components emphasized on the House of Quality (HOQ) matrices. For this research, a systematic procedure is used in QFD method by applying a factor analysis and correlation Spearman. Factor analysis is the best group identified from the data and reduced the unused items. As for the correlation Spearman, it was used in order to see the relationship and strength of each factor. The result in this research identified four best group criteria which are availability, layout and design, safety and access point. These four criteria indicate the main improvement needed for parking system. By using the QFD method, the management of parking system at Taman Bendahara should listen to the customers’ voice to seek a solution for these issues. This study proposed strategy can be applied for others management to identify the solution for parking problems.

A three-dimensional house: extending quality function deployment in two organizations

Purpose Nowadays, many organizations use quality function deployment (QFD) in order to recognize their customers’ wants and arrange a set of corrective activities in order to satisfy these wants. In a competitive environment, two or more organizations cooperate in order to meet their customers’ wants. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new hybrid approach of QFD employing SERVQUAL method, named three-dimensional house of quality (3DHOQ) to help the cooperation between two organizations with common customers by determining some common corrective activities that would satisfy their customers’ wants. Design/methodology/approach In order to better explain the proposed model, it is implemented in Birjand International Airport and Iran Air airline. At first, the customers’ want in the airport and airline sections are identified and the SERVQUAL method is used to determine the final weight of these wants. Afterwards, the corrective activities for satisfying the customers’ wants are determined using the three-dimensional QDF; and then are given weights using the multi-dimensional relation matrix. Findings Results of this study show the customers’ wants in two sections of airport and airline, the importance of each customer want, the gap between customers’ perception and expectation of each want, the collective corrective activities required to satisfy the customers’ wants and the weight of these corrective activities. Research limitations/implications This paper helps the airline and airport sections have an analyzed list of their customers’ wants and a set of shared and unshared corrective activities to meet these wants. Originality/value This paper presents a simultaneous QFD analysis in the airport and airline sections. Moreover, a new hybrid approach employing SERVQUAL method, named 3DHOQ is introduced to determine the corrective activities of both organizations and their weights.

A STUDY ON THE AESTHETIC QUALITY IMPROVEMENT OF THE PRODUCT DESIGN

本研究以居家生活空調機產品為例，結合品質機能展開（quality function deployment，QFD）和重要度績效分析（importance-performance analysis，IPA）進行產品美感的品質分析。首先調查IPA中的消費者對於產品的期望值與滿意度，同時利用期望與認知差距的計算方式，來衡量顧客對要求品質的權重，接著再導入QFD建構品質屋（house of quality，HOQ）。此方式的運用兼具了傳統QFD簡單易於執行的優點，且在運算過程中更加重視顧客所關心的美感品質，如此能協助設計師有效地提出改善現有產品美感品質設計的策略。研究結果顯示，空調機的面板最需要改善，設計上需要增加一些裝飾的效果，來營造出產品的不同風格。

Selecting the House-of-Quality-Based Energy Investment Policies for the Sustainable Emerging Economies

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the sustainable energy investments based on house of quality. For that, a hybrid decision-making approach to interval type 2 (IT2) fuzzy sets under the hesitancy is proposed. The novelties of the study are to construct an integrated IT2-based modelling and a set of dimensions and criteria for the sustainable energy investments for the emerging countries. The DEMATEL method is used for weighting the customer expectations of sustainable energy investments. The TOPSIS method is applied for ranking the house-of-quality-based investment policies with the technical requirements for the emerging economies. The results show that the capacity issue of energy industry is the most prominent issue for the technical requirements of energy investments. However, it is concluded that increasing communication with the capacity facilities is the most valuable strategy based on the house of quality evaluation. The results are also discussed for further studies and sustainable policies.

A Method of Capturing and Transferring Customer Value in Product Service System

The methods of capturing and transferring the customer value in a product service system (PSS) are studied to capture the customers’ intrinsic value requirements, grasp the importance level of requirement, and transform it into design elements to more reasonably allocate resources and develop products more in line with the customers’ needs and more competitive at a minimum cost. First, a hierarchical model of the customer value based on the means-end chain theory is constructed to analyze the customer value from the perspective of customer expectations. In the process of determining the importance priority of value elements, the cloud model is used to process the expert evaluation information, and the competitive correction factor and the Kano factor are used to modify the basic importance of the value elements. The customer value in the PSS is then transferred to the product and service performance domain by constructing the parallel house of quality embedded cloud model (PHOQ-ECM). In other words, the cloud model is used to process the group decision-making values with fuzziness and randomness to complete the correlation calculation of the parallel HOQ. The important priority of the performance characteristics is then obtained. Finally, the abovementioned methods are applied to capture and transfer the customer value of a shearer, and the results are compared with other studies. The results show that the hierarchical model of the customer value can more deeply capture the customer value. The cloud model solves the problem of group decision-making with fuzziness and randomness. The competition correction factor and the Kano factor improve the accuracy of the importance priority of the value elements. PHOQ-ECM achieves the transfer and distribution of the customer value to two different objects of product and service and improves the accuracy of the performance characteristics importance priority. The method feasibility and validity are verified through the abovementioned analysis. Consequently, the method can effectively guide the PSS design.

PENGEMBANGAN MESIN PENGUPAS KULIT BUAH AREN DENGAN METODE QUALITY FUNCTION DEPLOYMENT (QFD)

This study aims to determine whether the development of palm fruit peeler machine by using Quality Function Deployment (QFD) can optimize the results of the palm fruit peeling in Balun Ijuk village, Bangka. The method used in the data collection is to survey the place, interview and distribute the questionnaires to the respondents. While the analysis of the data is by using the descriptive methods. The data obtained is analyzed by using the QFD, while the design and the engine development is made based on the analysis and interpretation of the House of Quality (HOQ), which is the result of QFD. Furthermore, to determine whether the tool is made completely in accordance with the demand of the consumer, then the machine is made and the tests to determine the level of need and customer satisfaction. The result of the study shows that the machine is able to peel more and the result of the peeling is that the machine can separate the skin from the seed by using the motor of 1PK electric power. While from the consumen satisfaction, it can be concluded that the price is affordable, the machine is durable and not easily porous, the performance of the tool is fast, it is easy to be operated, it saves more space, and easy to replace the spare parts.

Design and Development of Daily Morning Surgical Rounds in ICU by Quality Function Deployment.

Most healthcare quality improvement projects focus on change management rather than the design of the process. In this article, we describe the development of a new rounding model based on quality function deployment, a Design for Six Sigma tool. We used affinity diagram, focus groups, and Kano analysis to identify critical customer requirements. We also used Kano analysis to determine the design team's ability to meet the requirements. We then completed a correlation matrix (House of Quality). Fifteen quality characteristics were analyzed on a correlation matrix to meet 15 demanded qualities. Numerical values were calculated based on the interactions identified by the design team. We designed a new rounding model based on the House of Quality; this new rounding model resulted in higher provider satisfaction (median 76-80%, P = 0.06). We have described a sophisticated approach to the design of a new change strategy/intervention. This technique can be used as a starting point for other projects attempting to implement meaningful changes for complex processes of medical care.

Selection process of sustainable production indicators using eco-quality function deployment

Sustainable production has to become a necessity for all industries for last decades. While the industry has to improve the quality of the product, they also need to consider three essential indicators (economic, social and environment). To concern for sustainable production, there are many indicators that can be set. Every industry may have different indicators with others depends on their policy, goal, and circumstances. The objective of this research is to propose a practical approach to determine appropriate sustainable production indicators. The selection process of sustainable production indicators will be challenging. The proposed method used a framework of eco-quality function deployment. The construction of house of quality in this concept is derived from three main perspectives of sustainable development such as, economic, social and environment. The assessment of eco-quality function deployment involves expert judgments. The linguistic terms in fuzzy concept is applied. The result showed that the combination of fuzzy eco-QFD could be a useful tool for the selection process of sustainable production indicators that is flexible enough to be modified and can accommodate many varieties of indicators.

Pengembangan Produk Power Charger Portable dengan Menggunakan Metode Quality Function Deployment (QFD)

Technological sophistication has become the necessity of human life, because it can facilitate the survival of human life. One of the technological sophistication that is needed by humans is the mobile phone. Mobile communication devices require electrical power sourced from the battery, when it runs out of power [1]requires a power source to restore power. Portable charger products [2]is one of the products that are always in need of mobile phone users. In this study, portable charger products have the advantage that can charge electric power just by moving it without using the electricity that comes from PLN. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of portable charger products and designing products in accordance with the voice of customers obtained. In the first stage, the preparation and distribution of questionnaires to obtain voice of customer, create a technical response, create a house of quality, which then design the manufacture of portable charger products in accordance with customer wishes. Based on the research, the result of design of portable charger product with the length of 15 cm, width 8cm, thickness 3 cm and has the adhesive as long as 25 cm. A novel interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy QFD method and its application to solar photovoltaic technology development

Quality function deployment (QFD) is a focused methodology for carefully listening to the voice of the customer and then effectively responding to those needs or customer requirements, (CRs) and expectations through design requirements (DRs). In classical QFD, exact numbers are used to determine the priorities of the CRs and the position of the company among the competitors. However, vagueness and impreciseness are inevitable uncertainties in those kinds of human evaluations, which are generally realized by linguistic terms. In this paper, the uncertainty in design processes is captured by a relatively new extension of ordinary fuzzy sets, Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFS), aiming at presenting a larger domain to experts for assigning a membership degree and a non-membership degree together with their hesitancy. We perform all the evaluation processes in the house of quality (HOQ) based on interval-valued PFS (IVPFS) and present some novel definitions for measuring and prioritizing CRs, DRs, and determining the position of the company among the competitors. We give an application of the proposed IVPF-HOQ model for solar photovoltaic technology development.

Outage Management and House of Quality to Improve Power Station Performance

The Coal Power Plant from Fast Tracking Project (FTP) owned by PT ABC is built by contractors from China. PT ABC is a company working in the area of the provision of electricity services business . In 2010 PT ABC establish business units new special serving the implementation of the operation & maintenance unit whenever the business units services operation & maintenance . Currently has been implement operation & maintenance four units of steam power plants a large scale with, namely Coal Fired Power Plant Indramayu , Coal-Fired Power Plant Rembang , Coal Fired Power Plant Pacitan And Paiton New Coal Fired Power Plant, The condition of generating equipment is not good enough. Maintenance undertaken is currently inadequate again despite the condition of the equipment age is still young. The maintenance of the power plant is needed so that the power plant can improve the quality of service in order to meet the community's guidance and the challenges of technological development. To improve overhaul planning and preparedness at an optimum level, maintenance management is required using Outage Management, which is a synergistic and sustainable process of Planning, Monitoring, Controlling and Evaluation of Planed Outage and using House of Quality (HOQ). Outage Management is used to optimize power plant maintenance activities by applying the rules of Right Problem, Right Solution, Right Design, Right Implementation. By using House of Quality (HOQ), broadly voice of costumer attempted to be converted directly into technical characteristics of maintenance. By applying it is expected the company will be able to achieve technical characteristics in accordance with the target set. from attribute of quizoner made there is Priority Voice of customer (VOC) requirement to Critical Customer Requirements (CCR) are Safety Base Outage Management on Frame Outage Management on priority 1 with score 97 while Outage Management on score 72

STRATEGI PENGEMBANGAN KUALITAS PELAYANAN UNTUK MEMENUHI KEINGINAN KONSUMEN PADA BENGKEL WIJAYA TOYOTA

This study addresses the complex problems in taking a decision to achieve corporate objectives, to improve the quality of consumer care services, as well as care services in accordance with the wishes of the customer in Workshop Wijaya Toyota (PT Wijaya Motor Lestari) in partnership with PT Astra International Tbk. This research is descriptive, assigning a sample of 100 customers. Data were processed in the qualitative methods using Quality Function Deployment and the result was displayed in a matrix House of Quality. The results show that strategies the workshop Wijaya Toyota applies to improving the quality of services are: the waiting room and toilet cleanliness, promoting warranty repair workshop, ensuring the accuracy of completion time of maintenance, speed of completion of the work, maintenance appropriate to their complaints, garage attendant explanation of maintenance, stock availability of original spare parts, direct workshop personnel explanation at the time of submission, garage attendant explanation upon delivery, transparent overall cost to be paid, reasonableness price of original parts, friendliness and courtesy officer spare parts, and workshop personnel direct contact.
