The article analyzes the dynamics of the level of happiness in Russia, which is characterized by change in the ratio of citizens that consider themselves happy and unhappy, and focuses on the peculiarities that define the stability of the feeling of happiness. A characteristic of mutual connections is given between the personal happiness selfevaluations and different emotional states. The analysis relies on the data of Russia Longitudinal Monitoring Survey - Higher School of Economics (RLMS-HSE). The study showed that the dynamic picture of happiness is characterized by high stability despite deterioration of living standards of most families in the period of economic crisis. At the same time, self-evaluations of personal happiness correlate quite moderately with the indicators that characterize the level of material position of the Russians. Direct influence on the formation of the sense of happiness is also produced by such factors of happy life as an interesting and well-paid job, quality education, good relations in the family, health, a possibility of regular communication, self-expression and self-assertion. At the same time, completeness and stability of the sense of happiness is first of all determined by how goal- oriented and active the person is. People who are deeply happy can not only set goals but also achieve them. They are full of strength and energy, and they are very active in the areas that allow them to realize their abilities to the fullest extent possible. Second, the degree of person’s passion for work or any other activity plays just an important role in formation of the sense of happiness. Determination and passion contribute to development of motivation for achievement, diligence and positive thinking, and serve as the source ofj oy and other positive emotions. Third, one more factor of happy life is a person’s involvement in wide networks of interaction and mutual assistance. Happy people are prone to trusting surrounding people, and they value frankness and sincerity more, show readiness to closely interact with other people. Absence of the feeling of loneliness, a possibility to communicate and receive help from relatives and friends increase the sense of happiness.
