Exploring the Potential of α-MnO<sub>2</sub>/ Carbon Nanotubes for Improved Oxygen Reduction Reaction Performance at the Cathode of Alkaline Fuel Cells

In the field of fuel cell technology, the development of cost-effective catalysts is crucial for the commercialization of Alkaline Membrane Fuel Cells (AMFCs). Platinum (Pt) has traditionally been employed as the catalyst in AMFCs, but its high cost poses a major barrier to widespread adoption. In this study, a new catalyst material was developed by incorporating Manganese Dioxide (α-MnO2) into Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) using hydrothermal synthesis techniques. The synthesized catalyst was characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), and its electrocatalytic activity was evaluated through Linear Sweep Voltammetry (LSV) and CV through Rotating Disc Electrode (RDE) experiments. The results showed that the α-MnO2-CNT composite displayed strong durability in the alkaline environment and high electrocatalytic activity for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The LSV measurements revealed a current density of -4.1 mA/cm2 and an overpotential of -0.3V relative to Standard Calomel Electrode (SCE) in a 0.1M KOH electrolyte. Additionally, the α-MnO2-CNT composite displayed high methanol tolerance and long-term stability compared to commercial Pt/C catalysts. This study demonstrates that the use of α-MnO2-CNT as a cost-effective alternative to Pt has the potential to facilitate the commercialization of AMFC technology.

Electrodeposition of nickel nanoparticles on graphene/iron (III) phthalocyanine-4,4’,4,”,4’”-tetrasulfonic acid coated electrode for glucose sensing

Glucose is vital to the body and a significant source of energy for both human activity and all bodily cells. In order to diagnose, monitor, and treat diabetes, we make use of the blood glucose index to measure the blood glucose concentration. Herein, we present the development of an electrochemical sensor for the detection of glucose levels utilizing graphene incorporated with an iron (III) phthalocyanine-4,4’,4,”,4”’-tetrasulfonic acid and nickel nanoparticles (Gr/FePc/Ni) nanocomposite material. For this purpose, the screen-printed carbon electrode (SPE) was coated with graphene/FePc film, which was later dipped into 10 mM nickel acetate solution. In this step, nickel ions were adsorbed on to graphene/FePc film modified SPE which was later reduced to Ni nanoparticles by electrochemical reduction process. Next, as-prepared Gr/FePc/Ni film was characterized by FE-SEM, FT-IR, EDS and cyclic voltammetry (CV). Gr/FePc/Ni composite-modified screen-printed electrode (Gr/FePc/Ni/SPE) had demonstrated remarkable electrocatalytic activity and sensitivity towards glucose in 0.1 M KOH by CV and amperometry methods. The observed high electrocatalytic activity of Gr/FePc/Ni/SPE was credited to the synergistic effect between the anchored nickel nanoparticles (NPs) and the Gr/FePc film. Moreover, Gr/FePc/Ni/SPE was used to detect glucose from 5 µM to 930 µM by amperometry (i-t) and the lowest limit of detection (LOD) was 0.227 μM. Finally, Gr/FePc/Ni modified sensor was applied to detect glucose in the human blood samples with the acceptable the recovery rate from ∼ 99.48 to 99.94 %.

Heteroatom-Doped Carbon-Based Catalysts Synthesized through a “Cook-Off” Process for Oxygen Reduction Reaction

The development of efficient and low-cost non-metallic catalysts is of great significance for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in fuel cells. Heteroatom-doped carbon-based catalysts are one of the popular candidates, although their preparation method is still under exploration. In this work, single (CS)-, double (NCS)-, and triple (NBCS)-heteroatom-doped carbon-based catalysts were successfully prepared by a “cook-off” process. The morphology, elemental composition, and bonding structure of the catalysts were investigated by SEM, TEM, Raman spectra, BET, and XPS. ORR catalytic performance measurements suggested an activity trend of CS < NCS < NBCS, and NBCS demonstrated better methanol resistance and slightly higher stability than the commercial Pt/C catalyst, as evaluated with both rotating disk electrode (RDE) and rotating ring-disk electrode (RRDE) systems. The mechanism for the promoted performance was also proposed based on the conductivity of the catalysts. In this paper, the heteroatoms N, B, and S were co-doped into activated carbon using a simple, fast, and efficient preparation method with high electrical conductivity and also increased active sites, showing high electrocatalytic activity and good stability. This work provides a new approach to preparing highly active non-Pt catalysts for oxygen reduction reactions.

Electrochemical determination of chemical oxygen demand using glucose standard at nickel(II) hydroxide modified electrode

A nickel(II) hydroxide modified glassy carbon electrode (Ni(OH)2/GCE) was developed for rapid and simple electrochemical determination of chemical oxygen demand (COD) which was evaluated using standard COD solution of glucose. The morphology and structure of Ni(OH)2 were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The electrochemical performance of Ni(OH)2/GCE was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and amperometry. Based on the high electrocatalytic oxidation activity of Ni(OH)2/GCE, the developed sensor showed a linear range of 10 - 340 mg/L with a detection limit of 2.3 mg/L, and a Cl− tolerance of 0.22 mol/L for COD determination. The Ni(OH)2/GCE was applied for the detection of COD in real water samples.

Modified electronic structure and enhanced hydroxyl adsorption make quaternary Pt-based nanosheets efficient anode electrocatalysts for formic acid-/alcohol-air fuel cells

Surface/interface engineering of a multimetallic nanostructure with diverse electrocatalytic properties for direct liquid fuel cells is desirable yet challenging. Herein, using visible light, a class of quaternary PtAgBiTe ultrathin nanosheets is fabricated and used as high-performance anode electrocatalysts for formic acid-/alcohol-air fuel cells. The modified electronic structure of Pt, enhanced hydroxyl adsorption, and abundant exterior defects afford Pt1Ag0.1Bi0.16Te0.29/C high intrinsic anodic electrocatalytic activity to boost the power densities of direct formic acid-/methanol-/ethanol-/ethylene glycol-/glycerol-air fuel cells, and the corresponding peak power density of Pt1Ag0.1Bi0.16Te0.29/C is respectively 129.7, 142.3, 105.4, 124.3, and 128.0 mW cm−2, considerably outperforming Pt/C. Operando in situ Fourier transform infrared reflection spectroscopy reveals that formic acid oxidation on Pt1Ag0.1Bi0.16Te0.29/C occurs via a CO-free direct pathway. Density functional theory calculations show that the presence of Ag, Bi, and Te in Pt1Ag0.1Bi0.16Te0.29 suppresses CO* formation while optimizing dehydrogenation steps and synergistic effect and modified Pt effectively enhance H2O dissociation to improve electrocatalytic performance. This synthesis strategy can be extended to 43 other types of ultrathin multimetallic nanosheets (from ternary to octonary nanosheets), and efficiently capture precious metals (i.e., Pd, Pt, Rh, Ru, Au, and Ag) from different water sources.

Electroanalytical application of phenol-functionalized reduced graphene oxide produced using gallic acid in a single step

This study introduces a simple one-step approach for synthesizing phenol-functionalized reduced graphene oxide for electroanalytical purposes, just using gallic acid (GA) and graphene oxide (GO). GA serves as both a reductant for GO and a stabilizing, functionalizing agent, introducing phenolic groups to the nanomaterial. This functionalization imparts remarkable attributes to the nanomaterial, allowing complete dispersion in aqueous solutions and tuning of its electrochemical performance, making it very convenient for electrode modification. The resulting nanomaterials (GA-rGO) underwent characterization through UV–visible, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), and Raman spectroscopies, as well as scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Glassy carbon electrodes modified with aqueous dispersions of these nanomaterials (GA-rGO/GCE) were employed in voltammetric experiments to evaluate the optimal dispersion composition for electroanalytical application.These GA-rGO/GCE displayed high electrocatalytic activity for the electrochemical oxidation of relevant clinical and environmental analytes. The unique functionalization of GA-rGO facilitated the selective accumulation of dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA) on the electrode surface, even in the presence of significant amounts of ascorbic acid (AA) in mixtures. Under the specified conditions, voltammetric currents display linear increments over the concentration ranges of 3.0 x 10-7 M to 2.0 x 10-5 M for DA and 7.0 x 10-6 M to 1.0 x 10-4 M for UA. The sensor demonstrated a low detection limit of 0.090 and 2.1 μM for DA and UA, respectively. The reliability of the electroanalytical performance of the proposed sensor in real samples was demonstrated by the quantification of DA in medications, as well as DA and UA in human urine samples, yielding recovery values between 82 % and 105 %, with relative standard deviation below 11 %.

Highly efficient electrocatalysts for seawater electrolysis under high current density: A critical review

AbstractAccording to the International Energy Agency (IEA) strategy, water electrolysis will be a second priority for hydrogen production by 2030, which can support sustainable development goals (SDGs). However, for the large‐scale application, especially seawater electrolysis at a high current density, cost and durability of the electrocatalytic system need to be taken into account. Herein, fundamental mechanisms of seawater electrolysis in a wide range of pH values, potential electrocatalysts for overall water splitting, recent progress on synthesis electrocatalysts and basic principles for the evaluation of electrocatalysts are reviewed. Subsequently, critical parameters and issues for scaling‐up of seawater electrolyzers are critically discussed. Finally, future prospects for completing sustainable hydrogen production from seawater for sustainable development are outlooked. It is anticipated to offer guidelines for the design and production of innovative electrocatalysts with high electrocatalytic activity and durability for the industrial scale application.

Laser-optimized Pt-Y alloy nanoparticles embedded in Pt-Y oxide matrix for high stability and ORR electrocatalytic activity

The development of active yet stable catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is still a major issue for the extensive permeation of fuel cells into everyday technology. While nanostructured Pt catalysts are to date the best available systems in terms of activity, the same is not true for stability, particularly under operating conditions. In this work, PtXY alloy nanoparticles are proposed as active and durable electrocatalysts for ORR. PtXY nanoalloys are synthesized and further optimized by laser ablation in liquid followed by laser fragmentation in liquid. The novel integrated laser-assisted methodology succeeded in producing PtxY nanoparticles with the ideal size (<10 nm) of commercial Pt catalysts, yet resulting remarkably more active with E1/2 = 0.943 V vs. RHE, specific activity = 1095 μA cm−2 and mass activity > 1000 Ag−1. At the same time, the nanoalloys are embedded in a fine Pt oxide matrix, which allows a greater stability of the catalyst than the commercial Pt reference, as directly verified on a gas diffusion electrode.

Facile fabrication of bismuth vanadate grafted carbon nanotubes composite for enhanced oxygen evolution reaction

The increasing demand of maintainable energy boosts researchers to develop reliable electrocatalysts for enhanced water splitting mechanisms. All thesynthesized materials, including CNTs, BiVO4, and BiVO4/CNTs, were characterized utilizing a variety of methodologies to assist the structural, configurational, morphological, and topographical investigations. This work aims to create unique BiVO4/CNTs nanocomposite, which may have higher electrocatalytic activity then previous materials (81 mV dec−1 tafel slope and overpotential of 237 mV at 10 mAcm−2). The composite exhibits notable qualities, including extended stability lasting up to 100 h, a substantial electrochemically active surface area (ECSA) of 586.5 cm2, minimal charge transfer resistance (Rct) of 1.3 Ω, a low onset potential, a reasonably reduced overpotential, and a relatively modest Tafel slope. The synergistic interaction between CNTs and BiVO4 is responsible for electrocatalyst's exceptional catalytic efficiency and unique stability for 100-hour retaining both morphological and structural features, showcasing structural integrity of BiVO4/CNTs nano-composite. The objective of this research is to split water into its componentmolecules using a nano-composite made, and may also useful for future applications.

Electrochemical Sensors Go Nano: Carbon Nanomaterials for Ultrasensitive Heavy Metal Analysis

Background: Heavy metal contamination of food and the environment is a major concern worldwide. Conventional detection techniques like atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) have limitations including high costs and insufficient sensitivity. Electrochemical sensors based on carbon nanomaterials have emerged as an attractive alternative for rapid, affordable, and ultrasensitive heavy metal analysis. Methods: This review summarizes recent advances in using carbon nanomaterials like ordered mesoporous carbon, carbon nanotubes, graphene and carbon dots for electrochemical sensing of toxic heavy metals. Synthesis methods, characterization techniques, functionalization strategies and detection mechanisms are discussed. Results: High surface area, electrical conductivity and electrocatalytic activity of carbon nanomaterials enable preconcentration of metal ions and signal amplification at electrode interfaces. This results in remarkably low detection limits down to parts per trillion levels. Functionalization with metal nanoparticles, molecularly imprinted polymers and other nanocomposites further improves sensor selectivity and sensitivity. These sensors have been applied for the quantitative detection of arsenic, mercury, lead, cadmium, chromium, and other toxic metals in lab samples Conclusion: Electrochemical sensors based on carbon nanotubes, graphene, mesoporous carbon, and carbon dots are rapidly emerging as an ultrasensitive, cost-effective alternative to conventional techniques for on-site screening of heavy metal contamination in food and environment. Further validation using real-world samples and integration into portable field testing kits can enable widespread deployment.

Revealing mechanism of transition metals doping in chlorapatite as single-atom nanozymes for high electrocatalytic activity of Fenton/Fenton-like reaction

Chemodynamic therapy (CDT) induced by endogenous overexpression of hydrogen peroxide based on nanozyme is an emerging tumor therapy strategy that has been abstracted widespread attention. However, the present efficacy of nanozyme catalytic therapy is severely limited by the low atomic availability and the few active sites of nanozyme. Herein, by means of density functional theory calculations, the catalytic performance of substituted or interstitial single transition metals doped in chlorapatite matrix (TM-CAP) for Fenton/Fenton-like reaction was systematically studied, aiming to screen out efficient and highly cyclic single-atom nanozymes (SAzymes). The Coint-CAP SAzymes showed unprecedented superiority among all candidates with the limit potential of −1.92 V under the characteristic acidic conditions of the tumor microenvironment, and exhibited excellent catalyst regeneration ability compared with neutral conditions. Ultimately, it is proved that compared with substitution doping, the interstitial doping of single Co atom significantly improves the inherent activity of Fenton/Fenton-like reaction. This was ascribed to the charge rearrangement of SAzymes surface caused by interstitial doping of Co, which enabled Ca site near the Co site to stably synergistically bind *OH species. Moreover, the screened Co interstitial doped chlorapatite (Coint-CAP) SAzymes with excellent thermodynamic stability and anti-agglomeration ability not only had a smaller cell volume change and band gap, but also was easy to be synthesized experimentally. This work aimed at guiding experimental design of artificial SAzymes with desired active center and electronic properties based on reported theoretical results of the structure–property relationship of active sites.

Photochemical synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical sensing properties of CD-AuNP nanohybrids.

Among the existing nanosystems used in electrochemical sensing, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have attracted considerable attention owing to their intriguing chemical and physical properties such as good electrical conductivity, high electrocatalytic activity, and high surface-to-volume ratio. However, despite these useful characteristics, there are some issues due to their instability in solution that can give rise to aggregation phenomena and the use of hazardous chemicals in the most common synthetic procedures. With an aim to find a solution to these issues, recently, we prepared and characterized carbon dots (CDs), from olive solid wastes, and employed them as reducing and capping agents in photo-activated AuNP synthesis, thus creating CD-Au nanohybrids. These nanomaterials appear extremely stable in aqueous solutions at room temperature, are contemporary, and have been obtained using CDs, which are exclusively based on non-toxic elements, with an additional advantage of being generated from an otherwise waste material. In this paper, the synthesis and characterization of CD-Au nanohybrids are described, and the electrochemical experiments for hydroquinone detection are discussed. The results indicate that CD-Au acts as an efficient material for sensing hydroquinone, matching a wide range of interests in science from industrial processes to environmental pollution.

Tuning the performance of Fe-porphyrin aerogel-based PGM-free oxygen reduction reaction catalysts in proton exchange membrane fuel cells.

Fe-N-C catalysts are currently the leading candidates to replace Pt-based catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction in proton exchange membrane fuel cells. To maximize their activity, it is necessary to optimize their structure to allow high active site density on one hand, and hierarchical porous structure that will allow good mass transport of reactants and products to and from the active sites on the other hand. Hence, the hierarchical structure of the catalyst plays an important role in the balance between the electrochemical active site density and the mass transport resistance. Aerogels were synthesized in this work to study the interplay between these two parameters. Aerogels are covalent organic frameworks with ultra-low density, high porosity, and large surface area. The relative ease of tuning the composition and pore structure of aerogels make them prominent candidates for catalysis. Herein, we report on a tunable Fe-N-C catalyst based on an Fe porphyrin aerogel, which shows high electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction activity with tunable hierarchical pore structure and studied the influence of the porous structure on the overall performance in proton exchange membrane fuel cells.

Boosting oxygen evolution reaction rates with mesoporous Fe-doped MoCo-phosphide nanosheets.

Transition metal-based catalysts are commonly used for water electrolysis and cost-effective hydrogen fuel production due to their exceptional electrochemical performance, particularly in enhancing the efficiency of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at the anode. In this study, a novel approach was developed for the preparation of catalysts with abundant active sites and defects. The MoCoFe-phosphide catalyst nanosheets were synthesized using a simple one-step hydrothermal reaction and chemical vapor deposition-based phosphorization. The resulting MoCoFe-phosphide catalyst nanosheets displayed excellent electrical conductivity and a high number of electrochemically active sites, leading to high electrocatalytic activities and efficient kinetics for the OER. The MoCoFe-phosphide catalyst nanosheets demonstrated remarkable catalytic activity, achieving a low overpotential of only 250 mV to achieve the OER at a current density of 10 mA cm-2. The catalyst also exhibited a low Tafel slope of 43.38 mV dec-1 and maintained high stability for OER in alkaline media, surpassing the performance of most other transition metal-based electrocatalysts. The outstanding OER performance can be attributed to the effects of Mo and Fe, which modulate the electronic properties and structures of CoP. The results showed a surface with abundant defects and active sites with a higher proportion of Co2+ active sites, a larger specific surface area, and improved interfacial charge transfer. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis revealed that the catalyst's high activity originates from the presence of Mo6+/Mo4+ and Co2+/Co3+ redox couples, as well as the formation of active metal (oxy)hydroxide species on its surface.

Iron Oxide Decorated Hexagonal Boron Nitride Modified Electrochemical Sensor for the Detection of Nitrofurantoin in Human Urine Samples

BackgroundNitrofurantoin (NFT, C8H6N4O5) is an anti-infective and anti-bacterial drug used for urinary tract infections (UTIs). Thus, consuming a high dose of NFT can cause severe neurological, haematological and gastrointestinal effects. By monitoring the concentration of NFT in the human body, one can maintain the amount of consumption and also reduce these side effects. NFT will be excreted through urine in the human body. MethodsIn this study, an easy, quick, and cheap electrochemical sensor for the sensing of NFT using an electrocatalytic nanocomposite material made of iron oxide/hexagonal boron nitride (α-Fe2O3/h-BN) was reported which is a non-invasive, highly sensitive, and selective sensor. The α-Fe2O3/h-BN nanocomposite was prepared by using hydrothermal technique. As-synthesized α-Fe2O3/h-BN nanocomposite was comprehensively characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), elemental mapping (E-Map), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-VIS spectroscopy. Significant findingsThe α-Fe2O3/h-BN based electrochemical sensor exhibited high electrocatalytic activity for NFT and provided a linear response from 0.025 μM to 22.95 μM (NFT) with a detection limit of 15 nM and a response time of 2 s with the sensitivity of 2.36 µA µM−1 cm−2 by amperometry technique. Ultimately, the practical utility of the sensor was showcased by detecting NFT in a human urine sample. In addition, the stability, repeatability, and interference studies were indicated that α-Fe2O3/h-BN based electrochemical sensor can be used for selective detection of NFT in biological samples.

Mild and scalable synthesis of a high performance CrFeCoNiRu0.05 high entropy nano-alloy/carbon electrocatalyst for efficient urea production with a chelate-based ionic liquid

We firstly reported synthesis of CrFeCoNiRu0.5 high-entropy alloy nanoparticles using an ionic liquid. The CrFeCoNiRu0.5 high-entropy alloy provides exceptionally high electrocatalytic activity for green urea synthesis.

Poly (3, 4-propylenedioxythiophene)/Hollow carbon sphere composites supported Pt NPs to facilitate methanol oxidation reactions

Direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) are thought of as portable, sustainable, and non-polluting energy devices. The exploration of efficient and affordable catalysts for the methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) is significant for the industrial application of DMFCs. In this study, nitrogen-doped hollow carbon spheres (HCS) derived from polydopamine were proposed for the catalyst support for platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs) for serving as the anode catalyst for DMFCs, and a composite support material was fabricated by in-situ oxidation of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (ProDOT) with HCS to get core-shell structured poly(3,4-propylenedioxythiophene) (PProDOT)-embellished hollow carbon spheres (HCS) (PProDOT/HCS) for further improving the catalytic activity for supported catalyst. The results indicated that the platinum (Pt) on the surface of HCS was well dispersed, and the Pt became smaller and more evenly distributed with the introduction of PProDOT. Simultaneously, the Schottky junction formed between PProDOT and Pt NPs contributes to enhanced charge transfer and catalytic activity of the catalyst. Notably, the core-shell structure of the ternary catalyst, its excellent charge transfer capability, and the interaction between platinum and the support contribute to its high electrocatalytic activity. Electrochemical tests demonstrated that the PProDOT/HCS/Pt catalyst exhibited a mass activity of 1169.6 mA mg−1Pt for methanol oxidation in acidic electrolytes, surpassing the activity of the HCS/Pt catalyst (472.4 mA mg−1Pt) and commercial Pt/C (281.0 mA mg−1Pt).

A Hierarchical Polyoxometalate/Pd/Mos2 Hybrid: Developing an Efficient Novel Bifunctional Catalyst for Water Splitting

AbstractCatalytic water splitting is a promising approach to produce clean hydrogen fuel from renewable energy sources. However, developing hybrid heterostructures capable of efficiently breaking down water into its constituent elements, hydrogen, and oxygen, presents a considerable challenge. In this study, a novel hierarchical POM/Pd/MoS2 hybrid heterostructure, composed of sheets of MoS2 modified with Pd nanoparticles and combined with a cobalt‐based polyoxometalate (POM), serving as bifunctional catalyst for water splitting is reported. Through a synergistic synthetic approach, MoS2, acting as a reducing agent, triggers the nucleation and growth of Pd nanoparticles, which, in turn, serve as anchoring sites for the polymerization of the cobalt‐based POM into fibers. POM/Pd/MoS2 hybrid exhibits an enhanced oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity, comparable to the benchmark catalysts Ir/C and IrO2/C in alkaline media, being its hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity similar to the activated Pd/MoS2 hybrid. The intriguing electrocatalytic capability of the resulting material for producing hydrogen and oxygen through electrochemical means arises from the enhanced charge storage capacity and conductivity of MoS2, the multi‐electron transfer facilitated by the POM, and the high electrocatalytic activity of the metals.

Enhanced stability and conductivity of montmorillonite and sucrose loaded Fe-MOFs for degradation of chlortetracycline hydrochloride via electrochemically activated persulfate

Ferreous metal-organic frameworks (Fe-MOFs) have provided excellent platforms for the removal of refractory contaminants from water, whereas poor conductivity and intrinsically fragile limit applications in electrochemistry and heterogeneous catalyst, respectively. Hence, we synthesized a novel Fe-based MOFs(Mt@Fe-MOFs@C) obtained through introducing sucrose to improve conductivity and montmorillonite (Mt) to enhance cycling stability, and combined with persulfate (PS) and electrochemical (EC) method to remove chlortetracycline hydrochloride(CTC) from water environment. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) demonstrated Mt.@Fe-MOFs@C was more conductive than pure Fe-MOFs. Mt.@Fe-MOFs@C showed high electrocatalytic activity for degradation of CTC in EC/Mt.@Fe-MOFs@C/PS system. The mechanism study indicated that SO4•− and HO• played dominant role in the elimination of CTC. Mt.@Fe-MOFs@C also exhibited excellent reusability with 83% removal efficiency after 5 cycle degradation. This work demonstrated that Mt.@Fe-MOFs@C would have potential for electrochemical wastewater remediation.
