The diagnostic value of high frequency color doppler ultrasound in acute appendicitis

Objective To study the diagnostic value of high frequency color doppler ultrasound acute appendicitis.Methods 98 patients with symptoms of acute appendicitis were selected,the application of Logiq 9 color Doppler ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus,a frequency of 7 ～ 10.0MHz was wsed.The McBurney point as well as around the right lower quadrant tenderness of rebound pain at the obvious on the miter,slitting,transverse scanning.Combined with color Doppler flow imaging to understand the flow conditions.After diagnosis of the patients with operation of diagnosis and treatment,the histopathology of the final diagnosis with ultrasound diagnosis results were compared,and through statistical analysis,identifying all patients with the rate of misdiagnosis,missed diagnosis rate,positive rate.Results The exploration and operation pathology diagnosis results contrast,all 98 patients,diagnosed in 95 patients,the positive rate was 96.9％ ;1 cases were missed diagnosis,misdiagnosis missed diagnosis rate was 1％ ;in 2 cases,the misdiagnosis rate was 2％.Conclusion High frequency color doppler acoustic in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis diagnosis rate was high,with clinical practical value. The clinical value of high frequency color ultrasound-guided biopsy in neck mass

Objective To explore the biopsy success rate and safety of high frequency color ultrasoundguided biopsy in neck mass.Methods Four hundred and fifty cases of high frequency color ultrasound-guided biopsy in neck mass were analyzed retrospectively.According to histopathologic results,the biopsy success rate was discussed,and complications were recorded.Results ①Biopsy success rate was lower in smaller mass.Biopsy success rate of three groups were:86.27％ in group A(＜1cm),96.93 ％ in group B(1 ～ 2 cm),and 97.08％ in group C(＞2cm).There was significant difference between group A and group B(86.27％ vs 96.93％,x2= 7.818,P =0.005),and there was no significant difference between group B and group C (96.93％ vs 97.08％,x2 = 0.007,P = 0.933).②There was significant difference between 15 mm and 22 mm sample( 88.62％ vs 98.47％,x2= 21.457,P ＜ 0.001).③There was no significant difference between 16G and 18G needle(96.68％vs 94.41％,x2=1.368,P =0.242).④The complication was pain slightly in part of patients,and no severe complication was found.ConclusionHigh frequency color ultrasound-guided biopsy in neck mass is a safety,easy,inexpensive and minimally invasive sampling method.It can provide important information in the diagnosis and treatment of the neck mass. Diagnostic value of color Doppler ultrasonography combined with mammography on breast cancer

Objective To investigate the value of high frequency 2-Dimensional and color Doppler flow imaging combined with mammography on the diagnosis of breast cancer. Methods 90 patients with breast cancer and benign breast lesions in 22 cases, respectively, separate by color Doppler ultrasound and mammography and their combination were compared. Results The blood flow signals were Ⅱ～Ⅲ grade(76.32% ) in breast cancer and benign breast lesions less blood flow to 0 ～Ⅰ grade ( 87.10% ); The detection rate of blood flow 89.48% in breast cancer were significantly higher than 38.71% in benign breast lesions ( x2 = 4.57, P ＜ 0. 05 ); 68 cases (75.5 % ) were diagnosed by mammography 38 cases(55.8% ) in diameter≤2. 0em were significantly higher than 30 cases(44.4% ) in ≤ 1.0 cm( x2 = 3.97, P ＜ 0. 05 ); The corresponding rate of Joint Inspection 85.7 % (96/112) was higher than the r 72.3% (81/112) in color Doppler ultrasound and 75.8% (85/112) in mammography ( x2 = 3.87, x2 = 3.85, all P ＜0. 05 ). Conclusion Color ultrasonography combined with mammography could raise diagnostic rate of breast cancer.Their combination is the best one of breast imaging examinations. Value of high-frequency color doppler ultrasound in the diagnosis of early breast cancer

Objective To explore the value of high-frequency color Doppler ultrasound in the early diagnosis of breast cancer. Methods 46 cases of pathologically confirmed by surgery for breast cancer after preoperative high-frequency color Doppler ultrasound diagnosis were retrospectively analyzed. Results Among preoperative ultrasound diagnosis of breast cancer(41 cases) ,5 cases was fibroadenoma and ultrasound diagnosis and pathology diagnosis consistent rate was 89. 1%. Two-dimensional sonographic features of breast cancer were lumps form less rules,no capsule, the border less clear,and some was like or Crab-like glitches,and Aspect ratio was greater than 1,internal had the non-uniform weak echo,some showed the sand-like calcification,rear echo attenuation,Color Doppler flow characteristics :mass flow signals could be seen around and inside, Vmax value range was 6. 6 cm / s ～ 45. 1 cm / s, Vmean(21.50 ± 10.62) cm/s,RI:0.59 ～ 1.0,an average of(0.74 ±0.1). Diagnostic value of high frequency color Doppler ultrasound for pedo-intussusception

Objective To approach the diagnosis and clinical value of high frequency color Doppler ultrasound for pedo-intussusception. Methods To analyze the 120 cases pedo-intussusception retrospective,which has been diagnosed by high frequency color Doppler ultrasound and been certified by gaseous enema reduction and operation. Results In the 120 cases pedo-intussusception, 112 cases were detected by low frequency ultrasound,the detection rate was 93.33%. 119 cases were detected by high frequency color Doppler ultrasound, 1 case was missed diagnosis, the detection rate was 99.16%, and 11 eases were prompted to be intestinal necrosis,which certified by operation. Conclusion The detection rate of high frequency color Doppler ultrasound is high for pedo-intussusception. It can prompt that intussusception combine ntestinal necrosis or not and offer evidence for selecting treatment protocols. It is the preferred check method for early diagnosis of pedo-intussusception. Key words: High-frequency ultrasound; Intussusception; Color Doppler; Children

Weaving Versus Blending: a quantitative assessment of the information carrying capacities of two alternative methods for conveying multivariate data with color.

In many applications, it is important to understand the individual values of, and relationships between, multiple related scalar variables defined across a common domain. Several approaches have been proposed for representing data in these situations. In this paper we focus on strategies for the visualization of multivariate data that rely on color mixing. In particular, through a series of controlled observer experiments, we seek to establish a fundamental understanding of the information-carrying capacities of two alternative methods for encoding multivariate information using color: color blending and color weaving. We begin with a baseline experiment in which we assess participants' abilities to accurately read numerical data encoded in six different basic color scales defined in the L*a*b* color space. We then assess participants' abilities to read combinations of 2, 3, 4 and 6 different data values represented in a common region of the domain, encoded using either color blending or color weaving. In color blending a single mixed color is formed via linear combination of the individual values in L*a*b* space, and in color weaving the original individual colors are displayed side-by-side in a high frequency texture that fills the region. A third experiment was conducted to clarify some of the trends regarding the color contrast and its effect on the magnitude of the error that was observed in the second experiment. The results indicate that when the component colors are represented side-by-side in a high frequency texture, most participants' abilities to infer the values of individual components are significantly improved, relative to when the colors are blended. Participants' performance was significantly better with color weaving particularly when more than 2 colors were used, and even when the individual colors subtended only 3 minutes of visual angle in the texture. However, the information-carrying capacity of the color weaving approach has its limits. We found that participants' abilities to accurately interpret each of the individual components in a high frequency color texture typically falls off as the number of components increases from 4 to 6. We found no significant advantages, in either color blending or color weaving, to using color scales based on component hues thatare more widely separated in the L*a*b* color space. Furthermore, we found some indications that extra difficulties may arise when opponent hues are employed.

Clinical Value of High-Frequency Color Doppler Ultrasonagraphy In Diagnosis of Children's Mesentery Lymphadenitis

目的 探讨高频彩超对小儿肠系膜淋巴结炎的诊断价值.方法对186例诊断为小儿肠系膜淋巴结炎的门诊及住院患儿进行高频彩超检查,并进行回顾性分析.结果肠系膜淋巴结炎患儿脐周及右下腹可探及椭圆形肿大淋巴结回声,长径最大2.5cm,长径与宽径之比大于2,彩色多普勒(CDFI)显示丰富血流信号.结论高频彩超是诊断小儿肠系膜淋巴结炎的首选检查方法,对临床诊断治疗及病例追踪具有重要的应用价值。

High-Frequency Color Doppler Ultrasonography of the Spermatic Cord Arteries

The purpose of this study was to determine the normal range of Doppler ultrasonographic measurements of spermatic cord arteries in a cohort of healthy men. The spermatic cord arteries of 51 men were interrogated with color Doppler ultrasonography. The resistive index (RI) of each artery was measured for the entire cohort; peak systolic and end-diastolic velocity values were obtained in a smaller subgroup (n = 31). The artery with the lowest RI was labeled A; the other 2 arteries were identified as B and C. Three separate arteries were identified within the spermatic cord in all individuals. The median RI values for arteries A, B, and C were 0.70 (range, 0.48-0.82), 0.84 (0.67-0.90), and 0.84 (0.72-0.92), respectively. One-way analysis of variance showed a significant difference between the mean RIs of arteries A and B (P < .0001) and arteries A and artery C (P < .0001) but not between B and C (P = .49). Peak systolic and end-diastolic velocity values differed significantly between arteries A and B (P < .0001) and arteries A and C (P < .0001) but not between B and C (P = .31). No age effect was shown for the RI measurements of the cohort. Color Doppler ultrasonography enables the objective quantification of Doppler measurements of arteries within the spermatic cord. Knowledge of the normal range of Doppler measurements for spermatic cord arteries that supply the testes may be a useful adjunct to the assessment of the testes.

We present a new signal processing strategy for high frequency color flow mapping in moving tissue environments. A new application of an eigendecomposition-based clutter rejection filter is presented with modifications to deal with high blood-to-clutter ratios (BCR). Additionally, a new method for correcting blood velocity estimates with an estimated tissue motion profile is detailed. The performance of the clutter filter and velocity estimation strategies is quantified using a new swept-scan signal model. In vivo color flow images are presented to illustrate the potential of the system for mapping blood flow in the microcirculation with external tissue motion.

High-frequency color flow imaging of the microcirculation

The extension of ultrasound (US) color flow imaging (CFI) techniques to high frequencies (> 20 MHz) has the potential to provide valuable noninvasive tools for scientific and clinical investigations of blood flow in the microcirculation. We describe the development of a slow-scan CFI system operating in the 20–100-MHz range that has been optimized to image the microcirculation. The apparatus has incorporated elements of a previously reported pulsed-wave Doppler system and is capable of operating in either CFI or pulsed-wave mode. The performance of the CFI system was evaluated at a center frequency of 50 MHz using two PVDF transducers with −6-dB beam widths of 43 and 60 μm. The −6 dB-axial resolutions were estimated to be 66 and 72 μm, respectively. In vivo validation experiments conducted using the murine ear model demonstrated the detection of flow in vessels down to 15–20 μm in diameter with flow velocities on the order of mm per s. Further experiments examining experimental murine tumors confirmed the successful detection of flow in the tumor microcirculation.

Doppler ultrasonography of peripheral vascular disease: the potential for ultrasound contrast agents.

Noninvasive diagnosis of peripheral vascular disease started with the introduction of Doppler technology. The development of high frequency ultrasound and color Doppler imaging allows continuous assessment of vascular disorders along the arterial tree. However, the technique remains operator dependent. It also suffers from anatomic limitations, such as bowel gas and ultrasound attenuation due to depth or wall calcification. Ultrasound contrast agents increase the Doppler signal intensity and should therefore reduce the rate of technical failures. They are useful for detecting the flux in cases of attenuated ultrasound beam and reduced blood flow. Their administration using continuous infusion protocols increases the duration of the effect. New imaging modalities such as harmonic imaging and pulse inversion imaging reduce Doppler artifacts and allow real time detection of the microbubbles flowing in the blood stream. Future directions include ultrasound-guided therapy of occlusion using encapsulated drugs targeted to the thrombus.

High-frequency color Doppler sonography of the submandibular gland: Relationship between salivary secretion and blood flow

Objective. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes of blood flow of the submandibular gland in comparison with salivary secretion after gustatory stimulation through use of color Doppler sonography. Study design. High-frequency color Doppler sonography was performed on 30 healthy volunteers, aged 22 to 31 years. The prestimulation and poststimulation arterial blood flows were evaluated with color Doppler sonography and spectral analysis. Results. The means of prestimulation maximum and minimum velocities and pulsatility index of the submandibular gland were 6.35 ± 2.57 cm/sec, 1.79 ± 0.93 cm/sex, and 1.53 ± 0.42, respectively. After the stimulation, the color signals and velocities increased and the pulsatility index decreased. There was a close correlation between the increase in minimum velocity and that of salivary secretion. Conclusion. Color Doppler sonography is useful in analyzing changes in the blood flow of the submandibular gland caused by gustatory stimulation.

High frequency color coded duplex ultrasound of small finger arteries--new diagnostic possibilities? A noninvasive method for visualizing digital circulation

Small vessels with luminal diameters of 0.2-2.0 mm have not been studied with routine ultrasound diagnostic procedures. Modern color Doppler imaging technology, however, should allow visualization of the blood flow even in such small vessels. The present study was therefore aimed at demonstrating the possibilities of examining small arteries in the fingertips of healthy volunteers with color Doppler imaging. The question was whether or not a standardized visualization was possible. We found that small arteries and their blood flow could be demonstrated in all (n = 10) healthy subjects. Furthermore, we demonstrated pathologic findings in the fingertip arteries of a patient with thrombangitis obliterans as an example of the diagnostic value of these new procedures.
