With the use of physical and structural analysis, the current study will examine the impact of PbBr2 on borate glasses containing heavy metal oxides. In contrast to their opposite trends, the density and molar volume showed an increasing trend in this system of glasses. These glasses developed high density with increased PbBr2 content, similar to the previously described glasses with heavy metal oxides and PbBr2. The locations of the Raman bands were determined from the deconvoluted Raman spectra and are attributed to the corresponding vibrations. FTIR spectra showed that the glass structure contained BO3, BO4, BiO3 units, etc. The characteristic bonds in FTIR spectra revealed that Bi2O3 is acting as glass modifier in the spectra. The increase in PbBr2, made the BO4 units to increase and hence increase in density.
