Retraction notice to "Green synthesis and characterization of titanium dioxide nanoparticles using leaf extract of Pouteria campechiana and larvicidal and pupicidal activity on Aedes aegypti" [Environ. Res. 200 (2021) 111333

This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (https://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy). This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief. The corresponding author was contacted regarding concerns detailed on PubPeer at https://pubpeer.com/publications/E9BA07F47CED66DABC82C545FEE82E. In the absence of a response from the author, the Editor felt that there was insufficient evidence to be able to determine conclusively whether or not there had been any scientific malpractice regarding this data. However, unauthorised authorship changes were made when the revised version of this paper was submitted, following suggestions for relatively minor revisions from the reviewers and Guest Editor, with authors Mishal Alsehli and Ashraf Elfasakhany being added to the paper. No explanation was given for this change, nor was it approved by the editor. This authorship change breaches the policies of the journal and as a result, the editors no longer have confidence in this paper and are retracting it. The journal apologises for not having identified the problematic authorship change during the review process and for any resulting inconvenience.

Introducing the Next Era in Assessment.

In this introduction, the guest editors of the "Next Era in Assessment" special collection frame the invited papers by envisioning a next era in assessment of medical education, based on ideas developed during a summit that convened professional and educational leaders and scholars. The authors posit that the next era of assessment will focus unambiguously on serving patients and the health of society, reflect its sociocultural context, and support learners' longitudinal growth and development. As such, assessment will be characterized as transformational, development-oriented and socially accountable. The authors introduce the papers in this special collection, which represent elements of a roadmap towards the next era in assessment by exploring several foundational considerations that will make the next era successful. These include the equally important issues of (1) focusing on accountability, trust and power in assessment, (2) addressing implementation and contextualization of assessment systems, (3) optimizing the use of technology in assessment, (4) establishing infrastructure for data sharing and data storage, (5) developing a vocabulary around emerging sources of assessment data, and (6) reconceptualizing validity around patient care and learner equity. Attending to these priority areas will help leaders create authentic assessment systems that are responsive to learners' and society's needs, while reaping the full promise of competency-based medical education (CBME) as well as emerging data science and artificial intelligence technologies.

Special issues in Accounting History from the guest editors’ perspective

A special issue of an academic journal is a collection of scholarly articles on a specific topic within the journal's scope. Special issues could take the form of an entire issue or a themed section of an issue. These issues provide a venue for research on emerging areas, highlight important subdisciplines, or describe new cross-disciplinary applications. While literature about the special issues of accounting journals tends to emphasise the research developments in the designated fields, this contribution uses reflexivity to develop a broader discourse about the role and the phases of development of a special issue, through the eyes of the scholars directly involved. It explores our ‘behind-the-scenes’ work as guest editors, our individual perspectives on the challenges and advantages of editing a special issue for us as guest editors, the authors, the journal's editors, and the research community represented by the journal of reference, in influencing public opinion and promoting critical thinking.
