Employability challenges of vocational college graduates in the state of Johor

The purpose of this research is to determine the difficulties experienced by Vocational College (VC) graduates in selecting a job, aligning their study program with the career, and figuring out the abilities that employers want depending on factors such as gender, study program, and VC after graduation. 234 graduates of Electrical Technology, Electronic Technology, Welding Technology, Construction Technology, and Automotive Technology programs from 2020 to 2022 VC in Johor participated in the study. This study used a quantitative survey research approach, utilizing a questionnaire and simple random sampling to analyze data both descriptively and inferentially against a sample representative of the total population. The findings demonstrated that graduates have significant difficulties selecting a vocation, determining if their study program is suitable, and determining what qualities companies are looking for. The results of the Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests showed that there is gender-based variations in the abilities and problems associated with choosing a vocation. The degree of difficulty in matching studies with jobs, compatibility of studies with careers, and the abilities employers want depending on the study program did not change based on a person's gender. Finally, depending on VC, notable variations were discovered in the degree of career choices, program fit, and skills needed by employers.

Difficulties Faced by Dance Graduates in Higher Vocational Colleges: An Analysis

With the rapid development of our country has brought opportunities and challenges to dance art education. This study aims to strengthen the education of dance majors, guide them to plan their career development reasonably, and explore new methods to adapt to the needs of the times and students. In recent years, the employment situation of dance graduates has been grim, and enterprises have reflected difficulties in recruitment, the reasons for which involve students, recruiters and college graduates management. Highly efficient expansion of colleges and universities, the number of graduates increased, exacerbating the employment pressure; the art exam boom led to a surge in the student population of dance performance majors, further increasing the difficulty of employment. The employment of dance majors is restricted, competition is fierce, and the prospects of graduates are worrying. Higher vocational dance students are not optimistic about employment prospects and tend to be directly employed, especially in the teaching profession. Employment problems are rooted in the mismatch between students' quality and career needs, the lack of coordination between professional development and market demand, and the inconsistency between social expectations and entrepreneurial atmosphere. The solution lies in improving personal quality, firm beliefs and cultivating innovative thinking. Schools need to deepen reforms, improve students' comprehensive quality and employability, improve teaching methods, and stimulate creativity and curiosity. Employers should change their mindset and the government should provide support.

Sustainable Career Development of Nursing Graduates in Higher Vocational Colleges: A Case Study of Weifang Nursing Vocational College

Background and Aims: Currently, in China nursing graduates of higher vocational colleges are restricted by many factors, particularly career development. Career development is an important indicator for measuring the quality of nursing graduates and the extent to which government and hospitals attach importance to the employment of nursing graduates in higher vocational colleges. Therefore, it is necessary to delve into the career development of nursing graduates in vocational colleges under the current employment situation. This study mainly aimed to investigate the current situation of nursing graduates' career development and factors affecting the career development of nursing graduates. Materials and Methods: The sample was drawn from the 2019 nursing graduates in Weifang Nursing Vocational College using non-random sampling. These nursing graduates participated in the research voluntarily participation and accepted their participation in the research consent form. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The questions focused on many factors that affected their career development, including how hiring practices at government, hospitals, and colleges, factors affecting the recruitment process, and challenges facing career development. Results: The results show that nursing graduates have basic knowledge and skills in nursing. The results also showed that government employment policies, teaching program management, and employability development were the key factors influencing the career development of nursing graduates from higher vocational colleges are relatively successful. Additionally, results indicated that school-based classroom environments have a significant and positive impact on nursing graduates’ career development. The government should increase employment efficiency and change employment policies as necessary to achieve sustainable professional development. Educational institutions and nursing schools should improve their teaching and learning management systems to align with employment policies and needs. Conclusion: The results emphasize how crucial it is for the government to get involved in employment policy optimization to promote the nursing profession's long-term growth. In addition, educational establishments need to modify their pedagogical approaches to better prepare nursing graduates for the skills required by changing job markets and facilitate a smooth entry into the workforce.

Probing the Relationship between Soft Skills and Career Adaptability among Vocational College Graduates

In today’s era, the demand for a workforce with the right skills required by employers is very high. Students must equip themselves with additional skills beyond academic achievements and must adapt to the skills required in the workplace before they graduate. This study examines the relationship between soft skills and career adaptability among vocational college graduates. The study interprets the crucial factors and skills influencing career adaptability and success in employability among Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates in the future. The researchers used a correlation study design to explain the relationship between soft skills and career adaptability. This quantitative study involves vocational college institutions in Negeri Sembilan, specifically those majoring in the Electronic Technology field and programs. About 120 graduates were chosen as sample respondents in this study. The survey method used a questionnaire to gather feedback from graduates identified in this research. The researchers used IBM SPSS Statistics to analyze the information obtained using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings show that the level of soft skills among vocational college graduates is moderate to high. Career adaptability also depicted a similar pattern at a highlevel. There was a strong and significant correlation between soft skills and career adaptability, and teamwork skills are a dominant factor in explaining the career adaptability of graduates from vocational college.

Research on SVM Analysis Model of Influencing Factors of Employability of Graduates from Higher Vocational Colleges and Universities in Jiangxi Province

Abstract With the expansion of higher vocational colleges and universities, the difficulty of employment of graduates has become an increasingly serious problem in the development of society. The reason for this phenomenon, in addition to the total pressure, lies in the difference between the knowledge, ability, and quality of college students and the needs of employers. This paper crawls the employment information data of graduates of higher vocational colleges and universities from relevant websites, combines the text classification method based on the SVM analysis model to mine the system of graduates’ employment ability, and takes it as a survey scale. Then Jiangxi Province’s higher vocational graduates were selected as the research object. After testing the reliability and validity of the scale, the scale, combined with independent samples, T-test method regression analysis, and other mathematical and statistical methods to explore the factors affecting the employment ability of graduates of higher vocational colleges and universities in Jiangxi Province. Among them, there is no significant difference in the overall employability in terms of gender and specialty category (P>0.05), while there is a significant difference in terms of having or not having work experience (P<0.05). The training objectives and strategies significantly contribute to the improvement of the professional competence of higher vocational graduates, which is a key factor in the influence of employability. Accordingly, students actively improve themselves at the same time. Colleges and universities should develop training objectives and strategies with the needs of enterprises to give students the necessary career guidance in a timely manner and other countermeasure suggestions.

Reform of the Evaluation Index System of Civics Teaching in Higher Vocational Colleges and Universities Curriculum Oriented to the Demands of Vocational Positions in the Context of Deep Learning

Abstract Vocational and technical education professional courses have significant occupational relevance, and the teaching and evaluation design ideas of its course Civics should be drawn by the job tenure demand. In this paper, through the matching comparison between the characteristics of graduates of higher vocational colleges and the vector space of job demand characteristics, the residual optimal algorithm is used to construct the matching model of college students’ supply and demand so as to achieve the maximization of the total matching value between supply and demand. On the basis of the CIPP evaluation model and the teaching characteristics of courses in higher vocational colleges and universities, a fit analysis is carried out to construct the evaluation index system for the teaching of Civics and Politics in courses in higher vocational colleges and universities. The study shows that the weights of the four first-level indicators, namely, teaching background, teaching input, teaching process, and teaching effect, are 0.2042, 0.2592, 0.3754, and 0.1612, respectively, of which the teaching process has the most significant proportion of weight. Practical value can be gained from the teaching evaluation system.

The Dilemma and Breakthrough of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Higher Vocational College Graduates Based on Big Data Analysis

Abstract The problem of cultivating students’ innovative and entrepreneurial ability is a non-negligible problem in the new era. This paper establishes a big data analysis model using a decision tree algorithm, assesses the entrepreneurial ability of higher vocational graduates based on the model as well as analyzes the differences in the entrepreneurial ability of students of different genders, then explores the influencing factors of graduates’ entrepreneurial ability, and carries out a correlation test of the influencing factors at each level. Finally, the entrepreneurial situation of higher vocational graduates was simulated and optimized, and the dilemma and breakthrough method of graduates’ entrepreneurial ability cultivation were analyzed. The simulation and optimization of vocational graduate entrepreneurship scenarios were carried out to analyze the dilemma and breakthrough methods in the cultivation of graduate entrepreneurship ability. According to the results, there is a correlation coefficient of 0.675, 0.695, and 0.876 between entrepreneurial ability at the national, social, and individual levels. From 2015 to 2022, when the investment of entrepreneurial capital, entrepreneurial resources, and entrepreneurial practice education is improved by 5%, the number of successful entrepreneurs will increase by 2, 1, and 5, respectively. This study helps to further enrich the theoretical system of innovation and entrepreneurship education in higher vocational colleges, and has significant theoretical significance in exploring the way of cultivating graduates’ entrepreneurial ability talents.

Research on the Path of "Three Education Reforms" Driven by the Traditional Intangible Cultural Heritage Craft Entering the Campus in Vocational Colleges

Intangible cultural heritage is an important component of China's excellent traditional culture, and is encouraged to enter campus. The intangible cultural heritage crafts account for the largest and most important proportion of intangible cultural heritage. Research shows that the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage crafts and the development of vocational education are complementary. This article summarizes the practical experience in the authors’ school and proposes specific methods and paths for the intangible cultural heritage into the campus by exploring the practical paths. The article specifically explains how the introduction of intangible cultural heritage crafts into the campus has promoted the "three education reforms" in vocational colleges, deepened the reform content, solidified the reform effect, and further improved the professionalism, craftsman’s spirit, patriotism, and innovation ability of vocational college graduates. The study also shows that vocational colleges can effectively feedback the inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage and promote local economy.

Exploration and Practice of College Students’ Career Guidance Program in the Perspective of Green China

Abstract The employment of vocational college graduates is a matter of social stability. In this paper, we first introduce modularized teaching in vocational college students’ employment guidance courses to unify the teaching of vocational college students’ career development and employment guidance courses. Secondly, in the preference analysis module, the WOA algorithm is used to optimize the selection of LSSVM parameters, and the WOA-LSSVM model adapted to the regression prediction of vocational college students’ employment preferences is proposed. Then, in the module of employment optimal matching, the Lagrangian conditional function extreme value is found in the discrete job data through the residual optimization algorithm, and the results of the optimal matching of vocational college students’ employment supply and demand are obtained. Finally, the overall situation and group differences in the intensity of employment pressure felt by vocational college students are analyzed. The results show that the maximum value of students’ employment pressure in the modular teaching of employment guidance is 128.28, the mean value is 0.02283, and the Std.Dev is 0.90383. The multivariate kurtosis coefficient decreases from 6.385 to 0.874, which is the critical value (c.r.). Decreases to 1.983<1.95, and the data are normally distributed. This study provides some references to enhance the career planning function of vocational college students’ career guidance courses.

Female Discrimination in the Process of Job Hunting: Manifestations, Causes and Countermeasures

With the development of society, more and more people participate in work, including women who were once considered to be only able to stay at home with children. But as the number of female workers increases, they face more and more unfair treatment than encouragement, so discrimination against women has become a severe problem. This paper summarizes the main manifestations of employment discrimination women face in job hunting in our country and analyzes the reasons for employment discrimination suffered by female graduates in higher vocational colleges in combination with political, economic, historical, and cultural aspects. Based on the national conditions of China and the unique historical and social background of China, this paper puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions to eliminate the employment discrimination of female graduates in higher vocational colleges. It provides a reference for solving the problem of employment gender discrimination in practice.

Exploration and Reflection on the Training Model of Customer Service Talents in Higher Vocational Education in the Digital Era

Purpose - Higher vocational colleges need to promote the reform of customer service talent training mode to adapt to the new requirements of the digital age and train customer service talents that meet the needs of enterprises. Therefore, the training mode of customer service talents in higher vocational colleges is studied.

Research on the Influence of Teaching Quality on Employment Quality of Graduates in Higher Vocational Colleges Based on Human Capital Effect

Against the backdrop of large-scale enrollment expansion, higher vocational education in China is facing a new task of achieving an "increase in quantity and quality" in the cultivation of technical and skilled talents, and promoting fuller and higher quality employment for vocational college graduates. On the basis of reviewing and organizing relevant literature, this study constructs a conceptual model of the relationship between teaching quality, graduate human capital, and graduate employment quality in vocational colleges, and proposes relevant research hypotheses. Through a questionnaire survey of some vocational colleges in Chongqing, a total of 520 valid data were obtained, and the research hypotheses were validated using SPSS and AMOS software for reliability and validity testing, descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling analysis. Research has found that the teaching quality of vocational colleges has a significant positive impact on employment quality, and human capital also has a significant positive impact on employment quality. Teaching quality also has a significant positive impact on human capital; Human capital plays a partial mediating role between the quality of teaching and the quality of employment. The research and analysis results indicate that vocational colleges should fully consider students' career development, reshape their value orientation, position industry needs, adjust professional settings, innovate teaching methods, promote curriculum system reform, strengthen the construction of teachers and teaching resources, collaborate with the main body to build a teaching quality assurance system, improve students' satisfaction with higher education and teaching work, improve teaching quality, and lay the foundation for better achieving high-quality employment.

Many Senior High School, Vocational High School, and Vocational College graduates have not been able to find a job for more than six months. Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Sampang in Figures 2021) shows that the HDI value in 2020 only increased by 0.76 from 2019 of 62.70. United Tractors and LSP ABI want to take an active role in improving Madura's HDI by preparing human resources on heavy equipment mechanics through the development of a centre of excellence for technology (PUT) of Heavy Equipment (CHE). Using the causal-comparative method, the researcher observed the impact of each stage on PUT-CHE development activities and reviewed the data to find causal factors and correlations. Poltera took a strategic step by equipping lecturers with virtual training on heavy equipment mechanics (SOBAT Program), organized by PT United Tractors. The SOBAT program has positively impacted heavy equipment engineering graduates in 2022, which has increased significantly. Academic data showed that 13 out of 34 heavy equipment mechanical engineering graduates were employed in leading heavy equipment industries before three months. Other data stated that three lecturers participating in Virtual Training on heavy equipment mechanics were selected as 50 interns at PT United Tractors.

The article looks at topical issues of vocational training specialists with secondary vocational education, whose qualification will allow to qualitatively replanish the personnel of textile industry enterprises. Secondary vocational education is undergoing an active modernization in our country. New technologies for training specialists of this level are aimed at improving the quality of education and developing a strategy that makes working professions prestigeous. Currently, there is a shortage of specialists with secondary vocational education, whose qualifications meet the modern requirements of the labor market. Many graduates of secondary vocational educational colleges cannot find a job in their specialty for a number of reasons, one of which is the discrepancy between the received education and the requirements of the labor market. This problem is being solved at the federal level through the implementation of the «Professionalitet» project, which means updating the system of secondary vocational education for training personnel in accordance with the real needs of specific employers from technical industries. The purpose of this article is to identify current problems in the system of training industry specialists with secondary vocational education and prospects for the development of training system for textile industry on the basis of large scientific-educational and production centres in the conditions of an experiment on the development, testing and implementation of a new educational technology for designing educational programs of secondary vocational education within the federal project «Professionalitet». As a result of the study, the main costraining factors were identified hindering the high-quality training specialists with secondary vocational education, as well as the key elements that are extremely necessary for the training of those ones meeting the modern and promising requirements of the industry labor market were identified. The novelty of the research is determined in the emperical sustantion of the importance of increasing role of an industry employer in the development and implementation of educational programs of secondary vocational education of a new generation. There is an obvious need to redistribute the functionality of the employer and the administration of a secondary vocational educational college when designing educational programs. An industry employer becomes the main developer of the educational program (its content and resource provision), while the administration of a secondary vocational educational college becomes a link providing consulting and methodological support.
