Analisis Implementasi Pembelajaran Outing Class pada Mata Pelajaran PKn di SMA Plus Al-Azhar Medan

This study aims to describe the inculcation of the values of archipelago insight that is integrated into Civics learning through Civics class outing activities at SMA Plus AL-Azhar Medan. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research, namely research that is fundamental in nature and aims to describe or describe existing events or problems. The results showed that Civics class outing activities integrated into Civics learning aimed to foster and develop students to become good citizens, in addition to Civics learning to understand and be able to carry out their rights and obligations honestly and democratically in their lives as educated citizens. This is a very basic thing in Civics lessons that teach tolerance, tolerance and being able to respect each other. The form of outing class learning is in the form of community activities such as mutual cooperation around the school to get to know the archipelago's insights in social life.

Implementation of the Trisikkha Plus Learning Management Model to Enhance the Characteristics of Good Citizenship for Vocational Certificate Students

Trisikkha principles consisting of morality, concentration, and wisdom discovered by the Lord Buddha, as well as the concept of contemplative education has been applied to learning-teaching management in Thailand for a long time. This research aimed to investigate the implementation of the learning management model based on the Trisikkha principles together with the concept of contemplative education to enhance the characteristics of good citizenship for vocational certificate students of Buriram Polytechnic College, Thailand. The data were collected by means of an evaluation form on characteristics of good citizenship, a learning achievement test, and a students’ satisfaction questionnaire which were employed to twenty-nine students. The descriptive statistics applied to analyze data were mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results of the study indicated that the students had higher characteristics of good citizenship. In addition, their learning achievement after learning was significantly higher than before learning at the .05 level. Moreover, the overall satisfaction toward the model was at a high level.

Drawing the boundaries of ‘good citizenship’ through state-led urban redevelopment in Dikmen Valley

This article explores the role of contemporary urban redevelopment in invoking a renegotiation of citizenship. There has been a wide acknowledgement that neoliberalism is a political project involving transformations in the state–market–citizen relations. However, the scholarly emphasis on market-led principles in remaking places and people falls short of acknowledging political aspirations and struggles that intrude in processes of inclusion and exclusion at the city scale. Focussing on the case of Turkey, where neoliberal urban policies and practices have been linked to the central government’s political ambitions, the article illustrates that urban redevelopment projects help the state actors realign citizenship with the authoritarian regime. A focus on the state-led urban interventions from the perspective of bordering the ‘good citizen’ suggests that neoliberal urban redevelopment projects are mobilised by the state to promote official citizenship agendas. Drawing on in-depth interviews, photos and observations from 9-month fieldwork in Dikmen Valley (Ankara), this article ethnographically documents how the ideals of the ‘good citizen’ in an authoritarian context differ from the market-led promotion of consumerist, aspirational and active citizens.

Corporate social responsibility and comparative capitalism frameworks: Evidence from the United States, Poland, and Italy

AbstractUsing the varieties of capitalism perspective and institutional theory as frameworks, we analyze cross‐cultural differences between firms' corporate social responsibility (CSR) approaches. We investigate three countries with different institutional settings: the United States, representing a liberal market economy; Italy, representing a coordinated market economy; and Poland, an example of a dependent market economy. We examine the differences in their CSR stances, operationalized through Porter and Kramer's concept of the four CSR categories: good citizenship, mitigating harm from the value chain, transforming value chain activities, and strategic philanthropy, based on data from 269 questionnaires administered to managers attending executive seminars at the authors' universities. Focusing on stakeholder engagement activities (SEAs) across the three economies, we show that companies in all three countries engage in the four categories of CSR activities. However, using a series of tests and rankings on means and standard deviations, followed by the subsequent analysis of variance, we argue that SEAs are emphasized more in American than in Polish and Italian companies, with the latter two countries showing more subtle differences despite some institutional similarities. Our results shed light on how different capitalistic models are associated with different CSR approaches, allowing policy‐makers and practitioners to better tackle CSR objectives in different countries.

UPHOLDING INTEGRITY IN THE MANAGEMENT OF E-LEARNING IN INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING

Integrity in e-learning environments is a major concern to institutions as it is an important value that must be upheld. The principle of integrity is the foundation for the achievement and progress of students. Integrity being upheld results in good citizenship and a better society. The flexibility of e-learning which enable students to learn anywhere at their convenient and preference also result in an increase opportunity of breaching academic integrity. It is therefore imperative to examine the issue of academic integrity in e-learning management. This paper is aimed at identifying integrity issues in e-learning and proposing effective methods of maintaining integrity in the management of e-learning without underestimating its benefits to learning institutions. Relevant research articles relating to integrity in the management of e-learning were searched from the internet using different search keywords such as “integrity in e-learning”, “maintaining integrity in online learning”, “types of e-learning”. Articles that are not from peer-reviewed journals were not included. Some integrity issues in e-learning such as academic misconduct and fraudulent activities in e-learning were highlighted. Two methods of maintaining academic integrity in e-learning proposed in the study are avoidance and implementation. Avoidance is a pre-emptive tactics of making sure that misconduct such as plagiarism, fabrication and cheating are not exhibited at all in e-learning. Implementation method on the other hand entails using software to detect academic misconduct and fraudulent activities. It is recommended that e-learning activities should be properly monitored and controlled. KEY WORDS: Academic integrity; e-learning; fraudulent activities.

Perceived school and media influences on civic/citizenship education: Views of secondary school principals and teachers in Hong Kong

This article investigates types of citizenship education in selected schools in Hong Kong with different overarching affiliations (pro-China vs. pro-democracy). After examining schools’ policies (e.g., sister school of China school), we selected four pro-China and two pro-democracy schools. As a highly diverse society, citizenship education in Hong Kong is key to the formation of a ‘good citizen’. To better understand what a ‘good citizen’ means in this context, we interviewed ten teachers, four principals and four vice-principals at six secondary schools. We focused our interviews on key themes around citizenship, schools influence and media influence. These interviews showed that laissez-faire school staff reported acting as facilitators who emphasized knowledge, social concerns and norms of ‘good citizens’ to their students. Mediate diversity staff reported helping students integrate different perspectives. School mission staff reported supporting student engagement via citizen responsibilities and political processes; while pro-China schools emphasized a national China identity, pro-democracy schools emphasized an international view. Staff from all of these schools reported that media negatively influenced students’ values and perspectives. To reduce students’ confirmation bias (only seeking evidence to support the pre-existing views), teachers in all schools taught critical thinking skills and media literacy. The data showed that understanding how schools can nurture student-citizens amid teachers’ concerns around negative media influence can help inform instruction and policies in schools regardless of their affiliation.

In Memory of Tibor Frank (1948-2022)

First, a brief account of his family background: Tibor Frank came from a Jewish Hungarian family with a rich history. His ancestors included Mór Wahrmann, Hungary’s first Jewish member of Parliament after the 1867 Compromise, and the initiator of the unification of Pest, Buda and Óbuda in the Pest Parliament. At the beginning of the 2000s, on the initiative of Tibor Frank, a small street in Új- Lipótváros was named after Wahrmann (when it became clear that the street which had once borne his name, but had since become Victor Hugo Street, could not be returned to its original name). At the same time, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences established the Mór Wahrmann Award, and in 2009, a collection of Mór Wahrmann’s papers, collected meticulously by Tibor Frank, was published under the title Honszeretet és felekezeti hűség [Patriotism and Religious Loyalty], referring to the nineteenth-century politician’s fundamental position and the dual commitments that were central to his political activities. As Wahrmann wrote, “One cannot be a true patriot without being true to one’s creed, or a good citizen while neglecting religion. One’s ardent patriotism must go hand in hand with unbreakable loyalty and devotion to one’s faith.”

Paving the Path for Sustainability in Design

What role can Human Factors and Ergonomics practitioners perform to pave the path to evolving sustainability in design? Being “green” is often perceived to cost money, requires a commitment of resources even when there is not an apparent return on investment (ROI), sometimes it is just about being a good global citizen and responsive to the plight of our planet, with no direct perceived monetary benefit (perhaps ever). This panel will be a social impact discussion hosted by the HFES Sustainability Taskforce. The participants will include HFES attendees in the audience along with Academia, Industries, and Influencers in the area of sustainability. This is an open forum for brainstorming, gathering actionable ideas to charter HF/E influence in sustainable design to support our planet. Industries are chasing sustainability goals and looking for measurable sustainability targets as indicators of success. Let HFES help by guiding future & current practitioners who can help achieve goals.

STRENGTHENING DIGITAL CITIZHENSHIP EDUCATION IN SOCIAL MEDIA TO GROW GOOD DIGITAL CITIZEN IN STUDENTS OF FKIP SYIAH KUALA UNIVERSITY

The purpose of this study is to describe the Strengthening of Digital Citizhenship Education in Social Media to Grow Good Digital Citizens in FKIP students at Syiah Kuala University. The data collection method in this study used in-depth interviews, in-depth interviews were tried to get information that fits the research focus. This research uses a qualitative approach to the type of descriptive research. Descriptive research is research that is made with the main objective of givingan objective reflection of an atmosphere. The location of this research is at the FKIP of Syiah Kuala University, namely on Jl. date Hasan Krueng Kalee, Kopelma Darussalam, Kec. Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh City. The results of this study are that the convenience of social media is very easy to access from the results of interviews from users who continue to use social media by respecting and appreciating differences (Respect) while maintaining emotional resilience,responsibility, responsibility, then other data are also found students think that in social media they need to analyze and seek the truth, logical thinking when doing activities on social media/cyberspace . then what is so important about this social media is good ethics, limiting time and being wise.

Strategic Rituals of Loyalty: When Israeli Journalists Face Digital Hate

This article examines how and why Israeli journalists use their military service as a shield in response to online violence and digital hate. This practice, termed here the military-as-alibi strategy, is highly consequential. First, it excludes Israeli citizens who are exempt from military service (mostly Palestinian citizens of Israel and ultra-orthodox Jews). Second, it affirms the presumption that “good journalists” are not to be measured by their reporting, but rather by external loyalty tests that allegedly demonstrate their commitment to the national cause. Drawing on analyses of interviews with 20 Israeli journalists, media coverage and social media content, this article frames the military-as-alibi strategy within the local context of a militarised society, but also as part of journalists’ global struggle to win the hearts of their audiences in challenging times. Building on Tuchman (1972), the article labels journalists’ references to their military backgrounds as a strategic ritual of loyalty. The article proposes an alternative strategy to counter anti-press attacks: if journalism is indeed a public good (Pickard 2019), then “good journalism” should be considered “good citizenship”. This approach could free journalists from surrendering to nationalist loyalty tests, and lay better foundations for journalists–audiences relationships in the future.

The optics of weight: expert perspectives from the panopticon and synopticon

Objective: That we all weigh something is a fact of life, yet the material reality of weight is refracted through multiple layers of surveillance revealing contradictions in experience and understanding, depending on one’s vantage point. We explored the complexities of weight with the specific aim of furthering understanding of this multifaceted surveillance. Methods and Measures: We used hermeneutics, the philosophy and practice of interpretation, as the method of inquiry. Ten experts by experience and seven professional experts participated in interviews, which were audio- recorded, transcribed, and analyzed. Interpretations were developed through group discussions among the eight authors and reiterative writing. Results: Using the metaphor of optics, we demonstrate how the interplay of the panopticon (the few watching the many) and synopticon (the many watching the few) help us gain a deeper understanding of weight through “fitting in,” being “captured by numbers,” “dieting: the tyrannic tower,” and “the male gaze.” Conclusion: Monitoring and judging body weight have become so normative in Western society that “weight watching” practices are synonymous with good citizenship and moral character. This study offers insight about how weight is conceptualized in personal and professional contexts, with implications for body image, dieting, eating disorders, public health, and weight bias.

How Citizenship Norms and Digital Media Use Affect Political Participation: A Two-Wave Panel Analysis

A centrally important question for researchers of media and communication is whether any type of individual-level behavior (e.g., digital media use) or normative attitude (e.g., norms of good citizenship) contributes to equalizing patterns of political participation, which often favor higher-status groups. Drawing on a two-wave repeated panel telephone survey that uses a nationally representative sampling frame, the study’s research design facilitates a robust analysis of how citizenship norms and digital media use affect political participation, with a focus on comparing higher- and lower-status groups. Specifically, the study analyzes a survey conducted in 2018 (Wave 1) and 2019 (Wave 2) among Israeli citizens, with a representative sampling of the generally higher-status Jewish majority and the lower-status Arab minority. The findings indicate that citizenship norms and digital media use in Wave 1 have a time-ordered positive effect on nonelectoral participation in Wave 2 for both Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel. However, the findings also show that for voting, the only statistically significant determinant is citizens’ Jewish or Arab identity. At a time when many democracies are facing severe challenges due to democratic erosion and social disintegration, this study contributes a normatively encouraging finding that key factors identified in the literature on citizenship norms and digital media use do not contribute to participatory inequalities between the Jewish majority and Arab minority in Israel. The findings also show, however, that it is essential to look beyond digital media use patterns to mobilize lower-status groups to become politically engaged in electoral-oriented politics.

This study is based on a basic idea of ​​linking the right to difference as a human right and a human value, and the values ​​of good citizenship. The study considers that good citizenship is not limited to contributing to paying taxes or participating in political life, assuming public jobs and respecting the laws of the state and public order. However, there is a necessary and civilized requirement for good citizenship represented in the ability to coexist with the different other and understand and respect its values, including this understanding and respect. Not to infringe on his rights or seek to subjugate him by force or to exclude him and marginalize him. Good citizenship entails not forcing the other to hide his distinction or difference in any aspect of life, whether in belief, opinion, thought, color and gender. The existence of a diverse and demographically diverse society is a human phenomenon that should be a source of respect and not a source of conflict and disagreement.

The Constitution of the Republic of Iraq in 2005 has included an introduction or a preamble like the rest of the constitutions. And if we look at the preamble, we find that it has formulated an accurate constitutional and legislative formulation that tried, by choosing its phrases, to confirm all the constitutional principles, meanings and ideas. In the forefront of those principles is the idea of ​​(good citizenship) that crystallized all its elements, its objectives and pillars through the precise constitutional drafting of the preamble. Good citizenship and its meanings and ideas emphasize that all individuals within the state must enjoy rights on an equal footing and abide by the duties imposed by the laws and legislation of the state.

Every society is based on the principles of the democratic system. Its constitution recognizes rights that enhance good citizenship and create a good citizen, as is the case in the Iraqi constitutions issued in 2005 and the Algerian of 2020, where each of them specified a set of rights that would ensure the achievement of good citizenship. These rights have diversified and touched various fields alike. They are constitutionally guaranteed within a legal framework that recognizes the right to enjoy them within what the law allows, and is guaranteed to every citizen, as the rights of citizenship have been defined in line with the nature of both societies. These rights are considered the positive side in order to strengthen the link of belonging to the homeland, and to define the framework of the official and legitimate relationship between the individual and the state.

But at the same time, we may find that legislation is not free of ambiguity or conflict, so to speak, which constitutes negative effects, whether in theoretical or practical applications on human and citizen rights. This leads to reluctance and away from achieving the principle of good citizenship and instability for the citizen in his country, and perhaps the most prominent thing that appears about that in the legislation that regulates the activities of the public administration that is most prejudicial in direct dealing with individuals, such as administrative and tax legislation. The administrative decisions issued regarding this organization may be the objection mechanism for an error or violation of the law in the decision among the most important reasons for affecting good citizenship.

This study deals with the laws and legislation issued in Iraq after the change in the system of government in 2003, and the extent to which they achieve good citizenship and peaceful coexistence between the state and the political system. The research includes the study of religious sects, with the aim of revealing that each sect obtains its religious and cultural rights, and the extent to which its aspirations are achieved within the legal and constitutional frameworks. The research concluded that Iraq consists of several religious sects, the largest of which is Islamic, along with religious minorities, and these sects feel that most laws and legislation did not achieve their demands, so each sect seeks to legislate new laws and reject others. The research suggested the need to form and create a permanent committee in the Parliament representing all these sects to review and propose laws specific to each sect, in order to achieve good citizenship.

This research sheds light on an important image of functional justice, which is the image of distributive justice that corresponds to both procedural justice and penal justice. It is considered limited in its content to the purely utilitarian material aspect, but it has started, since nearly three decades, to take another additional dimension, which is the moral dimension, whether psychological or social, which gives it an important function in building good citizenship and then positively affecting the enforcement of financial laws.

Socio-demographic Predictors for Misinformation Sharing and Authenticating amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic among Malaysian Young Adults

This study investigates the socio-demographic predictors for misinformation sharing and authenticating behavior among Malaysian young adults, based on data collected during the COVID-19 pandemic through a self-reporting survey. A total of 833 Malaysians aged between 18 and 35 years old were recruited. Results indicate that 64.5% (n = 537) of the respondents authenticated suspicious news, 16% (n = 133) shared misinformation knowingly, while 30% (n = 250) did so unknowingly. Frequency of sharing news (β = 0.229, p < 0.001), frequency of social media use (β = 0.135, p = 0.03), frequency of access to online news portals (β = - 0.141, p = 0.007) and the ability to identify misinformation (β = -0.161, p < 0.001) significantly predicted misinformation sharing. Conversely, only frequency of sharing news (β = -0.425; p < 0.001) and importance of reading real news (β = 0.873; p < 0.001) predicted authentication behavior. Findings suggest that the majority of the misinformation sharing behavior is accidental instead of intentional, and proposes several strategies that can be adopted to mitigate the wide spread of misinformation including seminars and trainings to improve an individual's social media literacy, critical thinking and analytical skill and also one's social responsibility as a good citizen.

The Effect of E-Samsat Implementation, Tax Knowledge, Service Quality, and Tax Sactions on Motor Vehicle Tax payer Compliance in East Surabaya

&lt;p&gt;One of the things that affects the taxpayer in carrying out his obligations as a good citizen is compliance in paying taxes. Taxpayer compliance is an important factor in realizing tax revenue targets. The higher the compliance of the taxpayer, the higher the tax revenue will increase, and vice versa. The questionnaire used in this study were 100 questionnaire with the determination of samples is using the method of accidental sampling. Data collection is done by questionnaire method. There are several research methods used to achieve this research objective including descriptive statistical analysis, validity test, rehabilitation test, classical assumption test (normality test, multicollinearity test, heteroskedasticity test), multiple linear regression analysis, and t test.The results of this study show that the application of E-Samsat and tax sanctions has a positive effect on the compliance of motor vehicle taxpayers in East Surabaya. While The Knowledge of Taxation, and Quality of Service has no effect on the compliance of east Surabaya motor vehicle taxpayers.&lt;/p&gt;
