Τhis work is the result of collaboration between the 4th Primary School of Alexandroupolis " Chronis Aidonidis" and the Laboratory of Special Vocational Education Training (EEEEK) and the Unified Special Vocational High School (ENEEGY-L) of Alexandroupolis. The collaboration occurred because artistic activities offer students multidimensional experiences (cognitive, emotional, psychomotor). The activities were designed and implemented based on the goals of co-education programs, the guidelines of the Detailed Curriculum of Studies of EEEEEK and Primary Education, the principles governing the inclusion process, and the use of special teaching principles in shaping the curriculum and apply special teaching techniques. Students were made aware that equal access to knowledge for all people based on their particular abilities is a constitutional imperative, and the democratic right to co-education of students is a universal good that ensures opportunities and learning possibilities.

RUPIAH CURRENCY INTRODUCTION PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN OF MIGRANT WORKERS IN MALAYSIA

This program's goal is to enhance the understanding and skills of the children of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia in recognizing and understanding the Rupiah currency. Through an interactive and creative approach, this program combines information technology, mock money, and hands-on teaching to 32 children in Malaysia.. The results of this program include children's ability to demonstrate methods of distinguishing between natural and imitation currency, an understanding of how to care for money properly, the ability to compare the value of Ringgit and Rupiah currency, and the ability to recognize, sort and count the amount of Rupiah currency. This program provides practical knowledge of currency and engages children in activities supporting essential financial skills development. With the involvement of the Indonesian Young Spirit, this program is a form of positive contribution in equipping the children of migrant workers with relevant knowledge to face life in Malaysian society.

Strategi Komunikasi Digital Pada Komunitas Nabung Jalanan Ngawi dan Implikasinya Dalam Program Filantropi Sosial

Digitalization is the key to the growth of a civilization that cannot be ignored. This is because the demands for mastery and use of technology for individuals and organizations are becoming increasingly real due to digital-based market changes. The emergence of digital communication media which is closely related to the internet, has become an active space for people to convey information, receive aspirations and ideas, and be able to offer new, more professional ways. One form of activity that utilizes digital communication media as the main media is social philanthropy activities initiated by the Ngawi Street Savings community. Since 2020, Nabung Jalanan Ngawi has been in existence carrying out social philanthropy actions for street people in the Ngawi Regency area. The aim of this research is to find out what digital communication strategies are carried out by Nabung Jalanan Ngawi and what the implementation process is in social philanthropy programs. This research also uses qualitative methods with a case study approach. The research results show that the key to the success of the digital communication strategy carried out by Nabung Jalanan Ngawi is consistency in posting every donation and activity pamphlet as well as strength in maximizing content management. The use of digital media can make branding Nabung Jalanan Ngawi easier for the wider community. This can support the process of implementing social philanthropy activities to be more systematically planned. The social philanthropy activities that have been carried out by the Nabung Jalanan Ngawi community include sharing free food, distributing suitable clothing to orphanages, distributing free takjil in the month of Ramadhan, and raising funds when a disaster occurs in an area. Nabung Jalanan Ngawi Community utilizes digital media to support the goals of social philanthropy programs to run optimally and evenly.

STUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs) IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF DAKWAH AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The purpose of writing this article is to look at the role of Islam in overcoming poverty through a global program initiated by the United Nations (UN) through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program or sustainable development goals, one of which is the problem of poverty (no poverty). This research is a qualitative descriptive research using library research methods. This is relevant to achieving the aim of this research, namely exploring sustainable development from the perspective of preaching community empowerment. In this research, the concepts and theories used will be evaluated based on existing literature, especially research results in the form of the Al-Quran, Hadith, textbooks and other relevant materials regarding the 17 main goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research results show that Islam has laid the main foundations in building society to overcome poverty and local wisdom culture, especially in Minangkabau, plays a very important role in overcoming poverty.

The Merit and Beyond; Portraying Student Exchange as Synergetic International Relations

The breakthrough on developing the synergy of international relations among countries is by fostering student exchange as the so-called worthwile programs that link the bilateral relationship and cultural identities. These student exchange programs accentuate the mutual liaison among the countries. It, indeed, exerts influence on students both positively and unforgettably. This research was designed in qualitative method and researcher utilized inquiry strategy of phenomenological study. Three main informants were participated in this research because they experienced the student exchange in advance. Researcher gathered the data through in-depth interview. Specifically, there were four major themes found in the research, they were 1) The lifetime experiences, 2) The challenges and barriers, 3) The problem solving, and 4) The impacts and changes. These findings highlighted the primary goal of the student exchange program itself and also fostered interconnection among the countries in forging impacts for the students as well as the country they belong to. Effectiveness of OpenSID Application in Improving Services in Kemamang Village Bojonegoro

The Bojonegoro District Government, together with the Bojonegoro District Communication and Information Office (KOMINFO), had implemented the use of the OpenSID application as a means of providing better public services. One of the areas where this initiative was being carried out was in Kemamang Village, Balen Sub-district, Bojonegoro District. The objective of this research was to describe the Effectiveness of Implementing the OpenSID Application in Improving Document Services in Kemamang Village. This study employed a qualitative descriptive research method, focusing on effectiveness measurement based on Subagyo’s criteria, which included program targeting accuracy, program socialisation, program goal achievement, and program monitoring. The research findings indicated that the OpenSID programme in Kemamang Village had effectively achieved its goals and objectives. OpenSID had facilitated access and enhanced citizen satisfaction. However, the programme’s socialisation aspect had not been effective, leading to low citizen participation. Intensive socialisation involving the community was necessary. Programme monitoring needed enhancement to identify issues and improve programme quality. The challenge of application maintenance also required attention to ensure programme performance. By undertaking these measures, the OpenSID programme could become more effective and optimal. The implementation of the OpenSID application in Kemamang Village was ineffective in terms of the socialisation and programme monitoring indicators. The lack of citizen engagement in socialisation had resulted in a lack of awareness regarding document creation requirements. Therefore, the Village Government needed to actively participate in planned socialisation methods. Ineffective monitoring has also led to system maintenance issues. Therefore, the Village Government should conduct regular monitoring to address problems and enhance programme effectiveness.

Can Online Parent Education Meet the Needs of the Courts and Improve the Well-Being of Children? The Critical Roles of Goal, Program, and Evidence Alignment.

Parent education in family courts can significantly impact children's well-being after divorce if programs are (1) widely accessible, (2) acceptable to parents, (3) feasible to implement by courts, and (4) have evidence of effectiveness in improving key outcomes for children. In light of recently raised concerns about whether court-ordered/court-mandated parent education is justified; it is critical to identify effective parent education programs. Online parent education programs have the potential to be widely accessible, acceptable to parents and courts, and effectively promote children's well-being. However, few effective online parent education programs are being widely adopted by family courts. There is some controversy about whether online parent education meets the needs of family courts in being cost-effective programs that offer ways to hold parents accountable for their participation. We articulate the wide array of goals for parent education programs and present a framework to identify and select programs that meet specific goals. We discuss access, cost, evidence of effectiveness, acceptability, credibility, and compliance tracking. We highlight two online parent education programs to illustrate differences in contexts and goals and to show that online programs have great potential to be effective in accomplishing goals valued by the courts.

A South African case study on anatomical embalming for human body donation programmes with toxicological considerations

Body embalming, a practice with deep historical roots across various cultures, forms the backbone of contemporary human body donation educational programmes. In this study, we explored current embalming practices within six South African human anatomical dissection programmes, focusing on the use and volumes of key chemicals—formalin, phenol, and alcohol—and their associated health risks and potential toxicity. We measured and compared aspects of embalming practices such as the duration of body preservation and the annual intake of bodies. Variations in embalming practices and chemical ratios across different South African universities were found. However, the consistent use of formalin, phenol and alcohol were observed across all six programmes. Formaldehyde concentrations used in South African dissection programmes were within the generally acceptable international range. Regarding arterial embalming, South African dissection programmes showed widespread adherence to international embalming practices, with one programme using a substantially lower concentration of formalin. The dual nature of formaldehyde as both an effective preservative and a recognised carcinogen was underscored in relation to human health regarding chemical toxicity. Phenol, like formaldehyde, was consistently used as it is important for the inhibition of bacterial and fungal growth. Alcohol was also consistently used, but there was much greater variation in its volume across South African institutions. Our data showed a slight positive relationship between storage duration and the volumes of formalin and phenol in human embalming fluid. South African regulators enforce stricter exposure limits than those set by the World Health Organisation and various European agencies. While South African institutions operate within internationally acceptable ranges of chemical use that both maximise preservation and minimise toxicity, we acknowledge that these data are preliminary. Further investigation is encouraged to ensure embalming practices effectively protect all those involved and support the educational goals of human anatomical dissection programmes in South Africa.

Evaluation of Performance of the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) Program in Meeting the Basic Needs of Poor and Vulnerable Communities

The BPNT program is a social assistance fund that is given in the amount of 200 thousand rupiah per family per month to buy food. In the implementation of the 2022 Fiscal Year, the BPNT Program has achieved a realization performance of 99.25 percent and a budget realization of 98.15 percent. This realization still needs to be analyzed in more depth using six criteria from Dunn's (2017) evaluation theory to find out whether the program is effective in achieving the planned program goals. This research is descriptive qualitative research based on the collection of data and secondary sources through literature review and expert opinions, as well as documentation studies. The results of the study show that from the aspects of effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equity, responsiveness, and accuracy, the BPNT Program has a positive impact and trend on the poor and vulnerable. However, the implementation of this program still has shortcomings, including the lack of program socialization, a list of beneficiaries that is not updated, and a lack of equity, as well as the accuracy of beneficiaries. Recommendations that can be given are to be sought so that the BPNT Program continues to run and continue; conducting evaluation and improvement efforts, as well as updating beneficiary data; and improving the quality of services and information to beneficiaries; In the future, the BPNT Program can be in the form of community empowerment programs; As well collaborating with other ministries and/or agencies, as well as the private sector to provide more optimal services.

Cancer survival statistics in China 2019–2021: a multicenter, population-based study

BackgroundA milestone goal of the Healthy China Program (2019–2030) is to achieve 5-year cancer survival at 43.3% for all cancers combined by 2022. To assess the progress towards this target, we analyzed the updated survival for all cancers combined and 25 specific cancer types in China from 2019 to 2021. MethodsWe conducted standardized data collection and quality control for cancer registries across 32 provincial-level regions in China, and included 6,410,940 newly diagnosed cancer patients from 281 cancer registries during 2008–2019, with follow-up data on vital status available until December 2021. We estimated the age-standardized 5-year relative survival overall and by site, age group, and period of diagnosis using the International Cancer Survival Standard Weights, and quantified the survival changes to assess the progress in cancer control. ResultsIn 2019–2021, the age-standardized 5-year relative survival for all cancers combined was 43.7% (95% confidence interval [CI], 43.6–43.7). The 5-year relative survival varied by cancer type, ranging from 8.5% (95% CI, 8.2–8.7) for pancreatic cancer to 92.9% (95% CI, 92.4–93.3) for thyroid cancer. Eight cancers had 5-year survival of over 60%, including cancers of the thyroid, breast, testis, bladder, prostate, kidney, uterus, and cervix. The 5-year relative survival was generally lower in males than in females. From 2008 to 2021, we observed significant survival improvements for cancers of the lung, prostate, bone, uterus, breast, cervix, nasopharynx, larynx, and bladder. The most significant improvement was in lung cancer. ConclusionsProgress in cancer control was evident in China. This highlights the importance of a comprehensive approach to control and prevent cancer.

Challenges in implementing community-based dental education programs in Australia: The lived experiences of program coordinators.

The benefits of community-based dental education (CBDE) are well documented and reach far beyond students' educational growth, encompassing advantages for both dental schools and their community partners. Nonetheless, barriers associated with administering CBDE programs can have a significant impact on program outcomes. This study aims to explore the challenges faced by dental school CBDE coordinators in implementing and managing their programs. This Interpretive Phenomenological study employed in-depth semi-structured interviews with CBDE program coordinators from Australian dental schools (n=6). Interviews, conducted between February and May 2023, via Microsoft Teams, were audio and video recorded and lasted an average of one hour each. Interviews were analyzed using NVivo 13. Questions explored administrative challenges, required resources, student management issues, and development goals for CBDE programs. Data analysis included deductive and inductive coding through a seven-step iterative process, organizing information into codes and sub-codes, forming emerging themes. Four major themes with subthemes emerged: 1) Program administration, encompassing challenges in scheduling, coordinating, and adapting to changes; 2) Funding, crucial for establishing and maintaining remote educational sites; 3) Student experience management, highlighting student supervision, student behavior, and exposure; and 4) Partner site relationships, particularly in clinical supervisor recruitment and training. The successful implementation requires meticulous planning, effective coordination, and recognition of CBDE as an educational activity that should be grounded in evidence-based pedagogy. Dental institutions are therefore encouraged to establish collaborative partnerships with local community organizations, allocate resources for outreach initiatives, and facilitate appropriate guidance to coordinators, students, and external clinical supervisors.

Design and Validation of a Mentalization Promoting Program for Parents of a Child with Type 1 Diabetes and its Effectiveness on Parents' Reflective Functioning and the Child's Emotional-Behavioral Problems: A Single-Subject Study

Aim: This research was conducted with the aim of designing and validating the Mentalization promoting program for parents of a child with type 1 diabetes and investigating its effectiveness on parents' reflective Functioning and emotional-behavioral problems of the child. Methods: A mixed method was used in this research. In the qualitative part, the mentalization problems of 18 children with T1D and 22 of their parents were extracted through the analysis of interviews with the method of transcendental phenomenology, and three general themes,18 main sub-themes and 50 sub-themes were obtained. Then, based on these themes and within the framework of the concepts of mentalization theory, a program to promote the mentalization of parents with a child with type 1 diabetes was designed. After confirming the content validity based on the CVI, with a semi-experimental method and a single-subject design of the type (A-B) with different subjects, 5 parents of children with diabetes who met the criteria for entering the research, were selected with a purposeful sampling method and participated in the program. The effectiveness of this program was assessed in four phases (baseline, during intervention, after intervention and follow-up) using the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and the Parental Reflective Functioning Questionnaire (PRFQ) and indicators of program goals. Then data was checked based on visual analysis indicators. Results: The final outcome of this phenomenological study is the extraction of three general themes, including the underlying factors of breakdowns in mentalizing, types of common mentalizing problems, and the consequences of breakdowns in mentalizing which became the basis for design the program to promote the mentalization of parents with a child with type 1 diabetes The results showed that the designed program, while having sufficient validity, was effective in increasing the parents reflective Functioning and reducing the emotional-behavioral problems of the child, and this effectiveness continued in the follow-up phase. Conclusion: Considering the validity of this program and its effectiveness, it is suggested that this program be widely implemented to help improve the physical and mental health of children with diabetes and their families, and also for children with other chronic diseases should also be adapted.

Using Engineering Methods (Kaizen and Micromovements Science) to Improve and Provide Evidence Regarding Microsurgical Hand Skills

ObjectiveMicrosurgical interventions involve the interaction of numerous variables, making objective analysis of skill proficiency challenging. This difficulty is even more pronounced in low-resource contexts. Continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizen-PDCA and Micro-Movements Science can address this issue. This study aimed to demonstrate the advantages of designing and implementing microsurgical training programs using these methodologies. MethodsFollowing an extensive literature review of Kaizen-PDCA and Micro-Movements Science and under the guidance of experienced neurosurgeons and engineers, a microvascular bypass training program was developed using the human placenta. Subsequently, the training program was used to analyze and describe the process of a trainee neurosurgeon in Argentina with no prior experience in microvascular anastomosis, as the operator gained proficiency. ResultsThe trainee required 12 attempts to achieve the program goals. The longest procedural time was during the first attempt (1 h 49 min 05 s with two mistakes), while the shortest time was during the fourth attempt (53 min 29 s with three mistakes). After 12 attempts, the trainee made no mistakes, and the procedural time was reduced to 57 min 37 s. The final learning curve demonstrated a regular pattern and reached a plateau after seven attempts. ConclusionsThe training program and methodology effectively assessed, facilitated, and demonstrated the acquisition of microsurgical skills. Kaizen-PDCA and Micro-Movements Science enabled the effective use of expert experience, detailed evaluation of microsurgical procedures, and integration into a continuous improvement cycle. The program structure could also be valuable for teaching, evaluating, and enhancing similar surgical procedures.

Metabolic Dysregulation and Cancer Risk Program (MeDOC): a transdisciplinary approach to obesity-associated cancers.

With the escalating prevalence of obesity, the association between obesity and cancer is a growing public health concern. Obesity will soon surpass tobacco smoking as the most important preventable cause of cancer. Obesity-driven mechanisms can alter cell functions to induce metabolic changes, chronic inflammation, and insulin resistance that are believed to contribute to cancer risk and development; yet the specific underlying biological mechanisms of obesity-related cancer development are largely unknown. The Metabolic Dysregulation and Cancer Risk Program: a transdisciplinary approach to obesity-associated cancers (MeDOC) is a trans-National Cancer Institute research initiative supported by the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences, the Division of Cancer Biology, the Division of Cancer Prevention, and the Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities. The overall purpose of the MeDOC Program is to advance our understanding of the underlying mechanisms that connect obesity, metabolic dysregulation, and increased obesity cancer risk as well as identify markers that will enhance cancer risk prediction, improve screening for high-risk individuals, and identify targets for preventive and therapeutic interventions for cancer interception or treatment. This report describes the funded research projects, the Coordinating Center, and the goals of the MeDOC program.

The role of improving the business environment in agriculture in ensuring the country’s food security

Ensuring food security largely depends on a number of factors, including ensuring sustainable economic growth in agriculture and increasing production. Taking all this into account, it should be noted that improving the business environment in agriculture can play a significant role in preventing internal economic threats to food security. In all countries, regardless of the type and nature of the economic system, the state develops economic programs to ensure food security, and the main goal of these economic programs is, first of all, to improve the current situation in agriculture, achieve sustainable economic growth, as well as the implementation of measures aimed at increasing its productivity. In this regard, it should be particularly noted that a number of state programs aimed at providing the population with reliable food products are being adopted on an ongoing basis in the Republic of Azerbaijan. It should be noted that the formation of a favorable business environment in agriculture implies, first of all, free access of economic entities operating independently of their property ownership to the market of capital and investment resources, provision of necessary state support to commodity producers, providing them with a system of production, market and social infrastructure, as well as the ability to meet the needs of agricultural producers in material and technical resources on effective terms. All this also follows from the process of comparative advantages, but despite all this, the formation of a favorable business environment is important for improving the provision of necessary food, and all this makes the choice of the topic and, consequently, the relevance of the study an objective necessity.

Characteristics and motivational factors of candidates applying to the Master in Health Professions Education (MHPE) program

ObjectiveTo determine characteristics and motivational factors of applicants applying for MHPE program at a Public-sector University, Karachi. MethodsThis cross-sectional descriptive study, conducted from September till October 2022, included all 60 applicants of MHPE program at Jinnah Sindh Medical University. The survey questionnaire was administered (google form) and comprised questions seeking demographic information, few questions with options to select and 34 statements to be responded on 5-point scale. One open-ended question asking motivational factor/s. Data was analyzed using SPSS and independent sample t-test was used to determine the differences between groups of applicants based on demographic factors. Results48 participants responded, mean age was 35.8 ± 7.3 years, with predominantly males (81.3%), graduates of medical and dental programs (n = 29), and employed in medical education departments (n = 36). Most of the applicants wanted to join the program to improve their teaching skills, especially psychomotor skills teaching (96%) and educational research [90%]. Majority (64.6%) learned about the program through peers, whereas 29.9% independently chose to pursue the program. Their primary motivation stemmed from their inability to secure admission elsewhere and the belief that minimal effort was needed to acquire the degree (mean score 4.58 ± 0.87 and 4.42 ± 0.94), respectively. For medical and dental graduates, comparable responses emerged, displaying a statistically significant correlation (p < 0.05). However, there was mutual disagreement regarding the program's structure and faculty as motivating factors. ConclusionPrimary motivations to earn an MHPE degree were to improve teaching skills. Motivations to apply to this particular program was the failure to be accepted elsewhere and the perception that minimal efforts were needed to complete this program. The program goals and purpose need to be better propagated along with changes in the admission processes in order to encourage those individuals to apply who are motivated to pursue medical education as a career.

Behavioral weight loss treatment for adults with binge-eating disorder: A qualitative analysis of patients' perspectives and experiences.

Understanding the perspectives of behavioral weight loss (BWL) participants could inform whether, how, and for whom BWL should be offered. All 126 participants in a clinical trial of BWL for adults with binge-eating disorder (BED) and overweight/obesity were contacted about a qualitative study. 45 participants, 11 of whom had dropped out of the parent study, completed qualitative interviews. The interview guide was developed using data from a survey of providers who offer Health at Every Size and other weight-neutral lifestyle interventions. Questions were phrased to invite even the most negative responses. Questions focused on participants' experiences of weight stigma during treatment, perceptions of BWL's calorie and WL goals, and opinions of BWL and weight-neutral interventions. We identified four themes using thematic analysis: (1) BWL did not perpetuate weight stigma. (2) Calorie and WL goals did not exacerbate participants' binge eating. (3) Patients should have the right to pursue any treatment that aligns with their personal goals. (4) BWL can improve participants' overall health. BWL participants with BED and overweight/obesity want others to have access to a program that can reduce both weight and binge eating. Participants emphasized that no treatment works for everyone, and they all agreed that BWL had not perpetuated weight stigma. Fewer than 20% of participants considered the program's calorie and WL goals to be harmful; most participants viewed those goals as achievable and helpful, and many asserted that their participation in BWL had improved their overall health. We interviewed adults with binge-eating disorder and overweight/obesity who had participated in a behavioral weight loss (BWL) program. Our participants wanted others in their position to have access to BWL because it aims to reduce both weight and binge-eating frequency. Efforts should be made to provide patients, clinicians, and policymakers with the knowledge that supervised, evidence-based BWL is an effective and desired treatment choice for this population.

PEAK Mood, Mind, and Marks: a pilot study of an intervention to support university students' mental and cognitive health through physical exercise.

Regular exercise has the potential to enhance university students' mental and cognitive health. The PEAK Mood, Mind and Marks program (i.e., PEAK) is a neuroscience-informed intervention developed using the Behaviour Change Wheel to support students to exercise three or more times per week to benefit their mental and cognitive health. This pilot study assessed the impact of PEAK on exercise, mental and cognitive health, and implementation outcomes. PEAK was delivered to 115 undergraduate university students throughout a 12-week university semester. The primary outcome was weekly exercise frequency. Secondary outcomes were: time spent engaged in moderate-vigorous exercise, sedentary behaviour and perceived mental health and cognitive health. All were measured via online self-report questionnaires. Qualitative interviews with 15 students investigated influences on engagement, the acceptability and appropriateness of PEAK, and its mechanisms of behaviour change. Paired t-tests, Wilcoxon Signed-Rank tests and template analysis were used to analyse quantitative and qualitative data, respectively. On average, 48.4% of students engaged in the recommended frequency of three or more exercise sessions per week. This proportion decreased towards the end of PEAK. Sedentary behaviour significantly decreased from baseline to end-point, and moderate-vigorous exercise significantly increased among students' who were non-exercisers. Mental wellbeing, stress, loneliness, and sense of belonging to the university significantly improved. There were no significant changes in psychological distress. Concentration, memory, and productivity significantly improved. Sixty-eight percent of students remained engaged in one or more components of PEAK at end-point. Qualitative data indicated students found PEAK to be acceptable and appropriate, and that it improved aspects of their capability, opportunity, and motivation to exercise. Students are receptive to an exercise-based program to support their mental and cognitive health. Students exercise frequency decreased; however, these figures are likely a conservative estimate of students exercise engagement. Students valued the neuroscience-informed approach to motivational and educational content and that the program's goals aligned with their academic goals. Students identified numerous areas PEAK's content and implementation can be optimised, including use of a single digital delivery platform, more opportunities to connect with peers and to expand the content's cultural inclusivity.

Awareness, acceptability, congruency, and attainability of an academic institution’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;The mandate of Isabela State University is to deliver higher learning in the arts, agriculture, natural sciences, technology, and specialized disciplines. Hence, the institution executes a strategic vision, mission, goals, and objectives (VMGO) to meet the expectations of its stakeholders. This research examined the degree of stakeholders’ awareness, acceptance and understanding of the Isabela State University, College of Business, Accountancy, and Public Administration’s (ISU-CBAPA) VMGO; its congruence with the educational approaches of the faculty and resources of the institution in delivering quality education; and whether the program goals and objectives of the business programs were attained. A quantitative descriptive research method was used. The results indicate that the respondents are generally highly aware of the ISU-CBAPA VMGO and its dissemination. The respondents perfectly understand and accept the ISU-CBAPA VMGO and highly perceive the extent of its congruence with academic strategies, practices, and activities. In addition, all respondents perceived that the ISU-CBAPA VMGO is being realized and favorably attained, despite the significant differences found. Recommendations include intensifying VMGO dissemination to external stakeholders, emphasizing VMGO commitments toward its realization, and emphasizing improvement on the students’ development of professional skills, research capabilities, and competencies, and their readiness for employment and/or managing a business.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

Evaluation of selection strategies in dual-purpose and specialized breeding of indigenous chicken

This study aimed to evaluate various selection strategies for adoption in dual-purpose (ICD), meat (ICM) and layer (ICL) breeding goals in indigenous chicken breeding programs. The ICM goal aimed to improve live weight (LW12), daily gain (ADG) and egg weight (EW12) or together with feed efficiency and antibody response. For the ICL goal, age at first egg (AFE) and egg number (EN12) or together with feed efficiency and antibody response were targeted. In the ICD goal, the objective was to improve LW12, ADG, AFE and EN12 or together with feed efficiency and antibody response. Highest total index responses of US$ 49.83, US$ 65.71, and US$ 37.90 were estimated in indices targeting only production traits in the ICD, ICM and ICL goals, respectively. Highest index accuracy estimates of 0.77 and 0.70 were observed in indices that considered production and feed-related traits in the ICD and ICL goals, respectively, while in the ICM goal, the highest estimate of 0.96 was observed in an index targeting only production traits. Inbreeding levels ranged from 0.60 to 1.14% across the various indices considered in the breeding goals. Targeting only production traits in the ICD, ICM and ICL goals required the least number of generations of selection of 7.46, 5.50, and 8.52, respectively, to achieve predefined gains. Generally, a strategy targeting only production traits in a goal was the most optimal but resulted to unfavorable correlated responses in feed efficiency and antibody response. Addition of feed efficiency or/and antibody response in a goal was, however, not attractive due to the decline in total index response and accuracy and increase in inbreeding levels and number of generations of selection. Considering the feed availability and disease challenges in the tropics, choice of including feed efficiency or/and antibody response in the ICD, ICM and ICL goals should depend on targeted production system, resource availability to support breeding activities and magnitude of correlated responses on these traits when not included in the goals.
