Vaksinasi COVID-19 sebagai upaya menurunkan angka kejadian COVID-19 pada komunitas pendidikan DI TVRI STASIUN YOGYAKARTA

Introduction:
 Coronavirus disease or known as COVID-19 is a disease caused by Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV). As an effort to prepare for the implementation of face-to-face learning in the DIY region, Komnasdik (National Commission for Education) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta in collaboration with POLDA DIY, TVRI Yogyakarta and STIKes Yogyakarta held the provision of Sinovac vaccine for the community, especially the education community
 Method:
 The type of activity carried out is in the form of procurement and administration of vaccines for the general public, especially the Education community in the DIY region. Lecturers and students play an active role in the implementation of vaccinations organized by Komnasdik Together with POLDA DIY, TVRI, and STIKes Yogyakarta. Participants in community service activities were attended by 425 people who had met the requirements for vaccination through a screening process
 Result :
 The second phase of the COVID-19 vaccine was given to 425 people, the general public, disabled people, students, and college students.
 Conclusion :
 The vaccination event went smoothly. Through the implementation of this vaccine, it is hoped that it will reduce the number of cases of COVID-19, increase immunity, and reduce the risk if conditions worsen.

The Predictive Power of Emotional Intelligence in Cyberbullying among Jordanian University Students

The present study aimed to identify the predictive power of emotional intelligence in cyber violence among Jordanian university students. The researcher constructed the Cyber Violence Scale and translated the Emotional Intelligence Scale developed by Richa Jain (2015). Both scales had the appropriate indices of validity and reliability. The study sample consisted of 444 university students who participated from eight different courses to fulfill the requirements of the general college at Al-Balqa' Applied University in Jordan during the first semester of the 2016-2017 academic year. After collecting and analyzing the data, the following results emerged:
 
 
 The calculated mean of cyber violence among students of Al-Balqa' Applied University was 2.74 with a standard deviation of 1.32, which indicates that the level of cyber violence is in the moderate range.
 The overall level of emotional intelligence as well as the secondary dimensions of emotional intelligence (social skills, self-awareness, self-motivation, emotional regulation, empathy) were in the high range among students of Al-Balqa' Applied University.
 There was a negative correlation between the overall level of emotional intelligence dimensions as well as the secondary dimensions of emotional intelligence (self-awareness, emotional regulation, self-motivation, empathy, social skills) and cyber violence.
 Emotional intelligence dimensions accounted for 18% of cyber violence. Self-motivation and emotional regulation were the two most significant predictors of cyber violence.

‘Employers at the heart of the system’: whose system is it anyway?

Education and skills policy since the 1970s have exhorted employers to put themselves at the ‘heart of the system’, to engage voluntarily with colleges and other providers, in a range of roles and activities, some of which may be beyond their competence and experience. However, employers do have an important role to play, but that role should be clearly defined and directed towards those areas where their expertise and experience can be optimally deployed. To function effectively, a system requires partnership between a range of actors – learners, providers, local communities, businesses and voluntary organisations. Contributions and expectations, all of which are important, require coordination and management. It is argued that colleges are well placed to act as ‘anchor institutions’ for bringing together local partners. This article provides a practical example of how one large general further education college fulfils this role.

Modified Alvarado score versus Tzanaki’s Score in diagnosing acute appendicitis: An observational study

Background: Appendix is a blind muscular tube derived from the midgut. During the embryogenic development, in the 6th week appendix and cecum appear as out pouching from midguts caudal limb. Acute appendicitis is one the most common diagnosis made whenever patient presents with right illac fossa pain and mostly encountered in young and middle-aged individuals. The diagnosis and management of acute appendicitis depend on clinical presentation, that is, clinical signs and symptoms. The most common presentations in these cases have abdominal pain along with fever, anorexia, nausea, and vomiting. Various Scoring systems are developed to diagnose acute appendicitis based mainly on the presenting signs and symptoms, but widely none of them are used as an uniform scoring system. Aims and Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess effectiveness and comparison of modified Alvarado score and Tzanaki’s Score in the early diagnosis of acute appendicitis. Materials and Methods: A prospective observational study was done in department of General Surgery JLN Medical College Hospital, Ajmer which included 200 patients presenting with the signs and symptoms of acute appendicitis, clinically. During admission the patients were evaluated by Modified Alvarado score and Tzanaki’s Score and final surgical decision was taken by the treating surgeon. Finally, the scores were compared with the histopathological examination of the surgically operated specimen. Results: The sensitivity and specificity of Modified Alvarado Score was 84.26% and 72.7%, respectively, with a positive predictive value of 96.15% and negative predictive value of 36.3%. The sensitivity and specificity of Tzanaki’s score was 88.2% and 72.7%, respectively, with a positive predictive value of 96.31% and negative predictive value of 43.24%. The diagnostic accuracy of Alvarado score was 83% and that of Tzanaki’s score was 86.5%. Conclusions: Our study showed that Modified Alvarado scoring system is a simple tool with limited features for bedside diagnosis of acute appendicitis, but its effectiveness is not as good as that of Tzanaki’s scoring system.

Effects of an Early Childhood Training Program on Vulnerable Children’s Outcomes: An Exploratory Study

This exploratory study assessed the effect of an innovative early childhood training approach on the development of children attending an early childhood education and care drop-in centre called Halte-garderie du Coeur offered by a general and vocational college. The direct beneficiaries of the services were children aged four months to five years, who had either experienced maltreatment or were from recently immigrated refugee families. This article presents a mixed methods exploratory and comparative evaluation study based on multiple data sources, including standardized developmental scales measuring child development, data from structured questionnaires with parents and program staff, and interviews with parents and staff. Participants included two cohorts of children and their parents, involving a total of 25 children, 16 parents, and four professionals. The results show that a significant proportion of children attending Halte-garderie du Coeur made gains in their emotional, affective, and social development between the start and end of each of two 12-week sessions. The effects seen in children were consistent with those set out in the program theory. To explain these results, we hypothesize that the training program helped students to develop specific skills that allowed them to positively influence children’s development particularly for children from vulnerable families.

The Spatiotemporal Pattern and Driving Factors of Cyber Fraud Crime in China

As a typical cybercrime, cyber fraud poses severe threats to civilians’ property safety and social stability. Traditional criminological theories such as routine activity theory focus mainly on the effects of individual characteristics on cybercrime victimization and ignore the impacts of macro-level environmental factors. This study aims at exploring the spatiotemporal pattern of cyber fraud crime in China and investigating the relationships between cyber fraud and environmental factors. The results showed that cyber fraud crimes were initially distributed in southeastern China and gradually spread towards the middle and northern regions; spatial autocorrelation analysis revealed that the spatial concentration trend of cyber fraud became more and more strong, and a strong distinction in cyber fraud clustering between the north and the south was identified. To further explain the formative causes of these spatial patterns, a generalized additive model (GAM) was constructed by incorporating natural and social environmental factors. The results suggested that the distribution of cyber fraud was notably affected by the regional economy and population structure. Also, the high incidence of cyber fraud crime was closely associated with a large nonagricultural population, a high proportion of tertiary industry in GDP, a large number of general college students, a longer cable length, and a large numbers of internet users.

The Teaching of General College Physics in Jolo

The purpose of this study is to record, examine and describe the common teaching strategies employed by college faculty members teaching general college physics in the five colleges in Jolo and to know as well what combination of teaching strategy employed by physics teacher in Jolo enhances achievement scores of students. Likewise, the evaluation on the learning facilities used in teaching physics was also taken into consideration. The study utilized the descriptive method of research and the normative survey technique was used for data gathering Purposive sampling was utilized and the respondents taken were composed of all faculty members handling college physics subjects and their respective students enrolled during the second semester of school year 2010 to 2011. The findings showed that the top three most common teaching strategies employed by teachers in teaching general college physics in Jolo are: problem solving, lecture, and board work. These strategies enhanced achievement scores of students. On the other hand, as far as learning facilities are concerned they were inadequate as most important equipment and tools necessary in the teaching of physics subjects were not available and if existing they were not functioning. However, despite the inadequacy of learning facilities, majority of the students have higher probability of passing the course based on their midterm exam. It is highly recommended that physics teachers must be exposed to various teaching strategies in order for them to be abreast with the latest methods in teaching physics. Furthermore, administrators are urged to upgrade school laboratories by procuring equipment, materials and other learning facilities indispensably needed in the teaching of general college physics.

College Readiness, Early Post-secondary Academic Performance and the GED Degree: Evidence from Kentucky

Abstract We use detailed administrative data from Kentucky to provide robust descriptive evidence on the relationship between the General Educational Development (GED) degree, college readiness, and early post-secondary (PSE) academic performance. Following previous work in this area, we address selection issues by focusing on a sample of students who are identified as at-risk prior to high school entry. Our results suggest the GED credential is not a credible signal of PSE readiness, particularly in mathematics. GED graduates attain a lower first semester GPA and are also less likely to re-enroll in second semester courses. We also find that changes made to the GED exam in 2014 to enhance student readiness in PSE institutions did not yield meaningful improvements. Finally, we investigate the extent to which differences in math coursework can explain estimated GED-related math readiness gaps, finding coursework to account for about for about 40 percent of the observed gap.

(Mis)Matched College Aspirations and Expectations: The Role of Social Background and Admission Barriers

AbstractNot all high school students who wish to study think that they will be able to realize this wish. This article examines whether admission barriers to higher education (HE) are a potential reason for this mismatch between educational aspirations and expectations and whether they are more constraining for students from socially less advantaged backgrounds. It does so for the German context in which the role of admission barriers for social inequality in HE has long been neglected. Empirically, the paper uses a unique combination of individual data on high school students’ educational aspirations and expectations and institutional data on admission barriers that vary by field of study. Findings indicate that the socially most privileged students stick to their college aspiration regardless of admission barriers to their aspired field of study. However, they seem to be willing to compromise their preferred field of study if this comes along with high admission barriers. Contrastingly, socially less privileged students seem willing to compromise both their general college aspiration and their aspired field of study if admission appears difficult. The concluding section discusses the implications of these findings for social inequality in education.

Prospective analysis of post-operative pain management in elective laparotomies in a tertiary care centre

Background: The study was conducted to record the drug used for postoperative pain in elective laparotomies and to determine the effectiveness of multimodal analgesics used.Methods: A prospective observational study for a period of 15 months from March 2019 to May 2020 in 140 patients who underwent elective laparotomies from the department of general surgery Rajarajeswari medical college and hospital (tertiary care center).Results: A total of 140 patients were included among which 58 (41.4%) were female and 82 (58.6%) were male patients. The 20 different types of surgeries were recorded. In our study the most common surgery performed was open appendectomy followed by open cholecystectomy. Most common mode of analgesia used was combined analgesia. Opioids, NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), epidural and transdermal patch was used. NRS (numerical rating scale) score was recorded for all 140 patients on postoperative days 1, 2 and 3.Conclusions: Combined analgesia was better mode of pain management method than a single analgesic. Due to different multimodal analgesics used in different institutions patients experienced different degrees of pain, hence we need a standard protocol for a best pain management method.

Concussion Characteristics and Early Postinjury Outcomes Between College Students and Intercollegiate Athletes

ObjectiveTo describe concussion characteristics among general college students and compare postinjury outcomes to intercollegiate student athletes. DesignRetrospective cohort. SettingLarge university in the Southeast region of the United States. ParticipantsA total of 179 (N=179) college students’ (female=120; 67.0%; 23.9±3.9 years) and 49 athletes’ (female=28, 57.1%;19.3±1.3 years) medical records were examined. Participants self-reported injury mechanism, health history information, and completed clinical assessments acutely (<7 days postinjury). Main Outcome MeasuresDescriptive statistics were calculated for each group. Concussion outcomes between students with and without certain health history diagnoses were assessed using separate t tests. We conducted univariate regression analyses to determine if sex, age, and time from concussion to first clinical assessment were significant predictors of clinical outcomes. Statistically significant variables were included as covariates in a series of 1-way analyses of covariance to identify differences in balance, symptom severity, total symptom presence, and neurocognitive domain performance between students and athletes. Fisher exact tests were used to compare health history information between groups (α<0.05). ResultsAmong students, 24% reported sustaining a concussion while participating in recreational sports, and 27% of impacts occurred to the back of the head. Students had higher proportions of headache, migraine, anxiety, and depression (P<.05). Students reported greater total symptom presence (P=.006) and performed worse on the computerized neurocognitive test domain score for complex attention (P=.015) relative to athletes. ConclusionsThese findings highlight the need for better access to medical care for non– National Collegiate Athletic Association sanctioned athletes because of a large proportion of concussions in the student sample being sustained during sports participation. Identifying common injury mechanisms can provide clinicians with powerful information to improve evaluation and treatment models.

LAPAROSCOPIC STUDY OF CHOLECYSTECTOMY IN SITUS INVERSUS TOTALIS

BACKGROUND: Situs inverses totalis is a rare congenital anomaly with transposition of major organs to opposite side of the body. Due to atypical clinical presentation and due to contra lateral presence of the gall bladder, it causes clinical challenge to operate with complete reorientation of anatomy. Visual motor skills are particularly tested when it comes to lapararoscopy. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A 25 year, lady presented with left hypochondriac pain and diagnosed as calculus cholecystitis with situs inverses total is. After ruling out associated anamolies patient underwent elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Around 60 cases of situs inverses total is with cholecystectomy have been reported till date. These cases cause technical and visuo-motor difculty due to contra lateral deposition of gall bladder in left hypochondrium during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Consumption of extra time also been reported during calot's dissection, as it's like operating on a mirror image, Department of General surgery Darbhanga medical college and Hospital Laheriasarai Darbhanga Bihar. CONCLUSION: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the gold standard treatment for cholelithiasis, is a feasible option even in cases with SIT; in the hands of good experienced, ambidextrous laparoscopic surgeons

Investigating College-Text Readiness: Literacy Curriculum Audits to Research Practice

Recent reform efforts in developmental education have led to model-development of college literacy instruction without being informed by institution-specific investigations of whether, how, and to what extent new models align with the literacy rigors of next-level courses across pathways. Such work is essential to informing literacy programming at the college level. This manuscript describes a literacy curriculum audit approach that can be employed by faculty. This approach is a systematized method to determine what it means to be college-text ready based on the literacy demands, practices, and expectations in introductory-level general education and career technical education college courses. TO COMPARE THE TYPE OF WOUND INFECTION OF SINGLE DOSE VERSUS CONVENTIONAL (MULTIPLE DOSES) ANTIBIOTIC USE IN LAPAROSCOPIC CHOLECYSTECTOMY IN TERMS OF TYPE OF SSI (SUPERFICIAL INCISIONAL SSI OR DEEP INCISIONAL SSI)

Background: To compare the type of wound infection of single dose versus conventional (multiple doses) antibiotic use in laparoscopic cholecystectomy in terms of SSI&#x0D; Methods: This study was carried out in the department of General Surgery Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla (H.P.) on patients admitted with radiologically proven cholelithiasis.&#x0D; Results: In SD group out of 03 patients who developed wound sepsis all were having Superficial incisional SSI and in C group also all patients (02) who developed wound sepsis had superficial incisional SSI.&#x0D; Conclusion: The type of infection wise difference in both groups was found insignificants.&#x0D; Keywords: Superfical, Deep, Gallstone, Wound sepsis

STUDY THE RELATION BETWEEN SERUM SODIUM AND THE MODEL FOR END-STAGE LIVER DISEASE SCORE IN PATIENTS WITH LIVER CIRRHOSIS AT TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL BIKANER, RAJASTHAN

Background: Liver cirrhosis was common problem in india. The aim of the study was to evaluate the prevalence of hyponatremia in liver cirrhosis and the correlation between serum sodium and the Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score in patients with liver cirrhosis. Methods: We prospectively collected data of 100 patients of chronic liver disease hospitalized in department of General Medicine Sardar Patel medical college, Bikaner. Results: Mean age of patients was 52.11±14.63 years and consisted of 78 men and 22 women. The mean MELD score, 14.21±4.98 and mean serum sodium concentration, 133.21±8.24 mmol/L. Serum sodium values were strongly associated with severity of cirrhosis, assessed by child Pugh class and MELD score. Conclusion: Hyponatremia is a common problem in liver cirrhosis, especially advanced cirrhosis. The study showed that there is an association between hyponatremia and the presence of certain complications of liver cirrhosis. Also hyponatremia was associated with a higher severity of cirrhosis assessed by MELD scores. Keywords: Child pugh class, Liver cirrhosis, MELD score, Hyponatremia

Incidence of hepatitis B and hepatitis C in Pediatric ward in General hospital, Bhopal (M.P)

To determine the incidence of HBV and HCV in pediatric ward in Rajeev Gandhi General Hospital and College, Bhopal. (M.P.) Viral hepatitis caused by HCV and HBV represents a major public health problem in India. These viruses share common modes of transmission, as parenteral route. Hospital base study of pediatric cases admitted to hospital during a period from March 2019 to February 2020. Pediatric cases were studied for the incidence of HBsAg and HCV Ab by ELISA, Rapid technique. The positive result was confirmed with line immuno-assay. The study showed positive HBsAg in 12 patients and HCV in 2 cases out 25 cases represented with acute hepatitis from a total of 1762 pediatric cases were submitted in this study, with incidence rate of 0.68% and 0.11% respectively.: The incidence of HBV and HCV are low, therefore active program need to be applied to control the spread of infection among the population.

Lawns and lemonade: are childpreneur activities gendered?

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is threefold. The first is to explore how children engage in entrepreneurship by creating a comprehensive inventory of commercial activities in which children engage. The second is to examine the extent to which the activities and categories of activities are gendered. The third purpose is to explore if the breadth of entrepreneurial activities (i.e., balanced skillset) increases entrepreneurship chances in emerging adults.Design/methodology/approachA holistic approach was used to create an inventory of commercial activities in which children engage. The researchers engaged in seven iterations, including scholarly and Internet searches, think-aloud and pilot tests, before submitting the inventory of over 100 activities to 928 participants. The relationship between general experiences and business startup was analyzed using binary logistic regression with a subsample of emerging adults aged 18–29.FindingsThe results revealed that 61% of the 23 categories and 53% of the 121 activities were gendered. Girls and boys tend to gravitate to gender-stereotypical entrepreneurial endeavors. Males were more likely to engage in stereotypical male commercial activities outside of the home, such as yard work, farm work and painting structures. In contrast, females were more likely to engage in stereotypical female commercial activities inside the home or activities related to beauty, crafts or food. Results also revealed that a variety of entrepreneurial activities and a general versus specific college degree increased the odds of starting a business in emerging adults regardless of gender.Originality/valueResearch and viewpoints explaining the gendered construction of entrepreneurship have been widely discussed. However, little is known about early-age commercial activities and their gendered nature. To our knowledge, this is the first construction of a childpreneur inventory and a subsequent demonstration of a connection between childpreneur activities and gender. This study also builds on prior work with emerging adults and the jack of all trades theory by suggesting that pursuing a balanced skillset is something learned early in life. The results will be useful to other researchers in gender and entrepreneurship and support agencies that seek to encourage children's entrepreneurial aspirations.

“A HISTOPATHOLOGICAL STUDY OF TUMORS OF ORAL CAVITY”

Background: The incidence of oral cavity neoplasms in the population has increased manifold over the years. Oral cancer is one of the common cancers in the world, common in India, and also in Bangladesh, Srilanka and Pakistan. Oral cancer is one of the few cancers, whose cause were known and hence it is possible to prevent. The real challenge in oral cancer lies in its prevention and early diagnosis. Objectives: 1.To study the morphological spectrum of neoplasms in oral cavity. 2.To study the age and gender incidence of various neoplasms. 3.To study the commonest sites of various neoplasms. 4.To evaluate or analyse the associated risk factors. Materials and methods: This is a prospective study of the cases attended to Government General Hospital, Vijayawada or Government Dental College Hospital Vijayawada, of oral cavity neoplasms. The biopsy of the tissues was carried out at the Department of Pathology, Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada. The study period was from June 2011 to August 2013 over a period of two years and three months. Results: The Study comprises a total of 74 surgical biopsies from oral cavity neoplasms received in the Department of Pathology, 52 of these were malignant lesions and 20 were benign tumour and 2 were premalignant conditions. The invasive squamous cell carcinoma was the most frequent histological type of oral cavity neoplasms. Among the oral cancers, peak age th th incidence was the 5 and 6 decade of life. There was signicant male preponderance. Tongue was the most common site involved. Smokeless tobacco consumption was the commonest associated habit which leads to malignancy. Conclusion:In thisa study we observed that among the oral cavity neoplasms, high incidence of carcinomas are seen, among these squamous cell carcinomas are predominant.

Preliminary prediction of the control reproduction number of COVID-19 in Shaanxi Province, China.

ObjectivesFirstly, according to the characteristics of COVID-19 epidemic and the control measures of the government of Shaanxi Province, a general population epidemic model is established. Then, the control reproduction number of general population epidemic model is obtained. Based on the epidemic model of general population, the epidemic model of general population and college population is further established, and the control reproduction number is also obtained.MethodsFor the established epidemic model, firstly, the expression of the control reproduction number is obtained by using the next generation matrix. Secondly, the real-time reported data of COVID-19 in Shaanxi Province is used to fit the epidemic model, and the parameters in the model are estimated by least square method and MCMC. Thirdly, the Latin hypercube sampling method and partial rank correlation coefficient (PRCC) are adopted to analyze the sensitivity of the model.ConclusionsThe control reproduction number remained at 3 from January 23 to January 31, then gradually decreased from 3 to slightly greater than 0.2 by using the real-time reports on the number of COVID-19 infected cases from Health Committee of Shaanxi Province in China. In order to further control the spread of the epidemic, the following measures can be taken: (i) reducing infection by wearing masks, paying attention to personal hygiene and limiting travel; (ii) improving isolation of suspected patients and treatment of symptomatic individuals. In particular, the epidemic model of the college population and the general population is established, and the control reproduction number is given, which will provide theoretical basis for the prevention and control of the epidemic in the colleges.

Bubble CPAP (Continuous Positive airway pressure) therapy as a primary mode of respiratory support in preterm newborns with mild to moderate respiratory distress syndrome

Background: Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is an important cause of morbidity and mortalityin preterm infants. Bubble CPAP when used appropriately, is more cost-effective, non-invasive,requires less training and has a lower risk of complications. However, not all preterm infants withRDS respond to CPAP. Aims: To study the immediate outcome of preterm infants with mild tomoderate respiratory distress syndrome on Bubble CPAP. To study the safety and effectiveness of B-CPAP and to identify the risk factors associated with its failure. Setting: NICU, Department ofpediatrics, Mamata general hospital and medical college, Khammam. Design- Prospectiveobservational study Material and Methods: This duration bound study was conducted fromFebruary 2018 to February 2020. Based on the inclusion criteria 73 Preterm babies with mild tomoderate respiratory distress syndrome requiring respiratory support were included in this study.Details of birth history, use of antenatal steroids, gestational age, type of delivery, birth weight,Downes score and chest X-ray were recorded. And the effectiveness and outcome of bubble CPAPwere studied. Results: Out of the total of 73 cases, 53(72.60%) were treated successfully, while20(27.40%) failed bubble CPAP. Conclusion: Bubble CPAP is the safe primary mode of respiratorysupport in Preterm newborns with mild to moderate RDS, more effective with early Initiation and inPreterm babies born to mothers with the use of antenatal steroids.
