Thus the conclusion of this article mention that this type of regular daily prayers in congregation is held in the MTs N is Dhuha prayer, prayer Dhuhr, and Friday prayers. Analysis of Site Suitability of Mosques Locations Using GIS: A Case Study of Khartoum State

The distribution of mosques needs to be assessed to help authorities to choose the appropriate location for the new mosques proposals, or to extend the existing mosques, the distribution and capacity of mosques is a serious problem in Islamic towns. This research aimed at finding appropriate planning standards, selection criteria for mosques locations and capacity by studying the current locations, distributions and capacities of the existing mosques. An aerial photograph was used as a source of spatial data. The distinctive orientation of the mosques to Gibla (Mecca holy mosque direction) facilitated their identification among other buildings. A layer of mosques was created in GIS. Each mosque area was calculated from the layer and saved in the attribute table. The actual capacity of each mosque (number of worshipers) was calculated by dividing the mosque area by 1 square meter. A buffer tool was applied, depending on the optimal distance for worshipers to access the mosques; the houses within the buffer area of each mosque were calculated to estimate the expected maximum number of worshipers for Friday prayer. The actual capacities of mosques were compared to the expected population. The results indicated that some mosques were found to be suitable; some needed to be extended within the existing location, while others could not be extended within the existing location and a new location must be determined for a new mosque within the buffer area to accommodate the expected number of worshipers.

This article describes about  negotiation space between worship and economics on Friday prayer at Masjid Ulul Albab (MUA) Medan. The main focus on this research is the appearance of pedagang kagetan (sudden traders) on Friday pray laying down their merchandises such as worship equipments, Moslem clothing, meal, snack, mineral water, etc around the mosque. The findings of this articles is the phenomenon where there is  there is a change  function of the mosque becomes a market. To understand the phenomenon, there are two questions appear:  what are the factors that contribute to the negotiations of worship and the economy and how the practice of economic progress. This paper explains that the factors pushing this situation because there is  “blurring” between the room of worship and economic boundaries. Thus there is dominance of economic  in the worship space. It happens because there is mutual need between merchants and pilgrims. It is done to meet the needs of the merchant family.

Intervention for Behavioral Change in Funeral Ceremonies in Islamic Republic Of Iran

Background: Large-scale funeral ceremonies are commonplace among Iranians and start from the time of person’s death till the fortieth day and anniversary. These traditional ceremonies cause a lot of psychological, economical and unnecessary problems for the bereaved family. This interventional research aims to change the behavior and the way in which the funeral ceremonies are held to remove the unnecessary problems associated with them. Methods: In this interventional study, the behavioral intervention continued for six months with the cooperation of Friday prayer Imams and other responsible parties. Data were collected using the questionnaires before and after intervention and were analyzed by SPSS. Results: Some behavioral changes after the intervention were reported. A reduction was seen in the mean number of someone else’s house used as a venue for the funeral ceremonies, of fabric writing installations, of meals given in the funeral ceremonies, and of the individuals present at these meals and involved in the process. An increase was observed in the number of flower arrangements. The mean difference in all the studied variables before and after intervention was statistically significant (P < 0.005). Conclusions: Conducting conferences, distributing pamphlets, educational programs for the public will change the quality and type of funeral ceremonies. Similar program is recommended for other parts of Iran with similar cultural backgrounds.

THE STRUCTURE OF FRIDAY SERMON IN INDONESIA: A SOCIOPRAGMATIC STUDIES

The research aims at describing (1) Friday Prayer’s Sermon as a discourse and (2) discourse structure in Firday Prayer Sermon delivered in Indonesia that is connected to the Islamic ordinance rule context and the preacher’s speech style. The source of data are obtained from (1) Friday sermons held in seven islands: Sumatra, Java, Bali, Maluku, Kalimantan, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua that is recorded audio-visually; (2) Friday sermons’ transcripts; (3) informant and resource persons; (4) events or occasions which directly or indirectly influence the Friday sermon’s speech. The research concludes that Friday sermon is an integral discourse and consists of two sermons. The first sermon is khutbah ula , which includes (1) the opening or iftitah such as salam, azan, hamdalah, syahadat, s a lawat , wasiat takwa , and Koran citation, (2) the content of the sermon, and (3) the closing prayer. The second sermon or khutbah tsaniyah consists of (1) opening that includes hamdalah, syahadat, selawat, wasiat takwa , (2) the content that includes sermon’s conclusion, and (3) the closing or ikhtitam that includes closing prayer. . The Effect of Colostomy and Ileostomy on Acts of Worship in the Islamic Faith.

The aim of this study was to determine the impact of colostomy and ileostomy on Muslim patients' acts of worship. This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study. The research setting was a stoma therapy unit of a 500-bed capacity training and research hospital in Ankara, Turkey. The study sample comprised 150 patients with colostomies (40.7%) or ileostomies (59.3%); their mean age was 51.6 ± 12.9 (mean ± standard deviation), more than half (60.7%) were men, and 84.7% were married. Participants were queried about specific religious practices following ostomy surgery including those related to salat, fasting, and pilgrimage. Data were collected using forms specifically designed for this study; respondents were interviewed either face-to-face or via telephone. Descriptive statistics were used to characterize the influence of a fecal ostomy on specific religious activities. Participants reported decreasing the frequency of daily and Friday prayers (25.2% and 22.7%, respectively) or stopped practicing these activities all together (12.0% and 14.0%, respectively). Respondents tended to increase the frequency of acts of absolution while reducing acts of fasting. Perceptions of cleanliness, central to performance of salat within the Islamic faith, emerged as a central concern. Ostomy surgery influences multiple religious acts practiced by Muslims. Awareness of the potential impact of a fecal ostomy on religious acts within the Islamic faith, combined with specialized education about spiritual practices delivered by the WOC nurse or a knowledgeable resource person, is strongly recommended for all persons following ostomy surgery.

PRINSIP AL-TAYSĪR DALAM FIQH AL-AQALLIYĀT YŪSUF AL-QARAḌĀWĪ

The Muslim minorities in the West who are currently dealing with a multitude of problem receives attention from Muslim scholars. Syaikh Yūsuf al-Qaraḍāwī is the first Muslim scholar who attempted to provide a solution to the problems, especially related to the implementation of religious teachings, as he outlined it in the framework of fiqh al-aqalliyāt. In principle, this is not something new in Islamic jurisprudence, because its legal sources are still the same. Nevertheless, this kind of fiqh is different in the sense that it does not merely talk about legal issues, but also the problems of theology and morals that the Muslim minorities in the West are currently dealing with in their relations with non-Muslims. Fiqh al-aqalliyyāt is also characterized by the use of the principle of al-taysīr as clearly prominent in the fatwās by Syaikh Yūsuf al-Qaraḍāwī, such as on the validity of both performing Friday prayer in the morning due to limited time for religious sermon (khuṭbah) and during ẓuhr time in some countries. &lt;p&gt;This research aimed at describing a change in the religious life of young&lt;br /&gt;generation of Pakiskembar Village, Pakis Sub district, Malang Re­&lt;br /&gt;gency, East Java, because of the influence of electrical technology&lt;br /&gt;introduced into village. The description comprised a change in the form&lt;br /&gt;of a variety of beliefs, a change in the religious service aspect, and a&lt;br /&gt;change in social aspect. &lt;br /&gt;The finding of this research was electricity introduced into the village&lt;br /&gt;brought specific changes into the religious life of young generation. A&lt;br /&gt;change in the belief aspect tended towards irrational belief which&lt;br /&gt;increasingly reduced, which meant rasional though increasingly rose. &lt;br /&gt;A part of change in religious service aspect tended toward a rise, and&lt;br /&gt;another part tended towards a reduction. Activities of reciting Al-Qur 'an&lt;br /&gt;at home underwent a change toward a reduction. Activities of reciting&lt;br /&gt;Al-Qur'an at the mosque/musala in month of Ramadan did not change.&lt;br /&gt;Participation in taraveeh and tadarus Al-Qur 'an in the month of&lt;br /&gt;Ramadan rose. Activities of performing congregational prayers at&lt;br /&gt;mosque/musala reduced. Activities of Friday prayer, Eid-ul-Fitr prayer,&lt;br /&gt;and janaza (funeral) prayer did not change. &lt;br /&gt;Changes in the social aspect were various enough. Within the social­&lt;br /&gt;relegious group/organization in the village level, a rise in the number&lt;br /&gt;of members occurred; participation of the young generation in this&lt;br /&gt;activity rose. Relegious education institution and the participation of&lt;br /&gt;young generation of the young generation in this institution did not &lt;br /&gt;change. Various kinds of activities of PHBI rose and participation of&lt;br /&gt;the young generation also increasingly rose. The habit of talking to&lt;br /&gt;older people changed, namely after electricity introduced into the vil­&lt;br /&gt;lage the young generation seemed not familiar enough with older people,&lt;br /&gt;that they lacked of respect for older people, and there was impression&lt;br /&gt;that they preferred to use Indonesian language, wich meant they started&lt;br /&gt;to leave behind their local vernacular which was full of ethics of personality or of good manner towards older people. There was a changein dressing. although it was still normal, they still dressed in Moslem dress.&lt;/p&gt;

ANALISIS PENGARUH RELIGIUSITAS,KELOMPOK REFERENSI DAN MOTIVASITERHADAP KEPUTUSAN MENABUNG DI BANK SYARIAH (Studi Pada Nasabah Bank Syariah di Kota Banjarmasin)

This study has the objective to determine the effect of religiosity, reference groups and the motivation factors to the decision to save in Islamic banks. Location of the research conducted in the city, Banjarmasin. With population all of Banjarmasin’s Islamic bank individual customers, using purposive sampling methods with 100 numbers of respondents in finishing the survey. Results of hypothesis testing with multiple linear regressionat the 95% confidence level, indicates that religiosity, reference groups, and the motivation factors, either partially or simultaneously influence the decision to saving in Islamic banks. Partially, religiosity factor is the most dominant factor in influencing people to take decisions to saving in Islamic banks. Therefore, to increasing the amount of savings customers, Islamic banks should go through a religious approach. Increased socialization of the importance of Sharia principles in everyday life, products and excellence of Islamic banks need to be done through religious activities such as teaching, tadarus, boarding lightning, lectures at Friday prayers and Taraweeh, and other religious activities. Street Power: Friday Prayers, Islamist Protests, and Islamization in Pakistan

AbstractThis article addresses Pakistani Islamists' street power — their ability to organize rallies, protests, and demonstrations. Building on research on religion and collective action, I first demonstrate how Friday prayers aid Islamist mobilization. Mosques on Friday serve as a filtering and coordination tool, as tactical “choke” points in urban neighborhoods, and as incitement through the imam's sermon. I then show how Islamist street power affects Islamization in Pakistan. I argue that Pakistan's foundational religious nationalism acts as an “opportunity structure,” and affords Islamists agenda-setting and veto power. The success of Islamist agitation depends on the issue contested, the type of regime targeted, and the era in which it is practiced. I use interviews, participant observation at Islamist rallies, an original dataset of all rallies and protests in Pakistan from 2005 to 2010 (n= 4123); and government and local newspaper reports from the 1940s onward to buttress my claims.

Conventional Water Filter (Sand and Gravel) for Ablution Water Treatment, Reuse Potential, and Its Water Savings

&lt;p&gt;Ablution process consumes a huge amount of water especially in mosques for cleaning certain part of the body before performing prayers. The high volume of ablution water produced in mosques and its low strength in quality makes it a feasible option to be reused. This paper introduced an assessment of conventional filtration (sand and gravel) in treating ablution water for reuse purposes and its water savings potential in mosques. The treatment system has assessed its capability for reuse and its water savings potential. A pilot scale of filtration system was developed and was run with the ablution water from the Parit Raja mosque and the Pintas Puding mosque. The samples were taken during Friday noon prayer between January to March 2013. The efficiency of the conventional filtration system was tested for the effluent quality of NH&lt;sub&gt;3&lt;/sub&gt;, TSS, COD, and BOD. The case study of water savings estimation for the proposed system was undertaken at Pintas Puding mosque. It was determined based on the quantity of ablution water, water consumption, water demand, and water bills record. The results deduced that the conventional sand filtration can improve the water quality parameters; 0.60-0.05mg/L reduction of nitrogen ammonia (NH&lt;sub&gt;3&lt;/sub&gt;), 6.0-1.53mg/L of suspended solids (TSS), 3.12-0.15mg/L of chemical oxygen demand (COD), and 27.67-4.16mg/L of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). The treatment system was projected to save water consumption by 41.73% and RM180.16 of water saving per month. Water consumption was estimated to be further reduced to 50.83% if reused activities such as irrigation and toilet flushing were applied. Hence, annual water savings could reach up to RM2161.92 per year. With the current instability of water resources, the implementation of the conventional filtration system for ablution water in the mosques provides water security and water resources conservation option for the country.&lt;/p&gt;

Pemahaman dan Pengamalan Surat Al Jumuah Ayat 9-10 (Studi Kasus Pada Pedagang di Lingkungan Masjid Ampel Surabaya)

This study analyzes understanding of merchants of surah Al Jumuah verses 9-10. Understanding that examined about when sounding the call Athan all activities (sale and purchase) must be abandoned immediately and promptly carry out the Friday prayers, and back doing activities (sale and purchase) when finished doing the prayer Friday. This research used the qualitative approach with case studies. Data collection was done with interviews and observations directly to the object/subject of research. The results of this research show that the level of understanding of respective merchants of surah Al Jumuah verses 9-10 good and different so that the impact on the implementating. In addition, they believe in running the prayer Friday positively impact of sustenance, though not directly. A positive impact not only sustenance, but by hearing sermons Friday prayers will add to the sense of faithfulness to God Almighty.

For male muslim eid on Friday is obligatory. But in practice there are problems such as application of procedures for Friday prayers is not appropriate and make the pilgrims do not pray with good. For that reason, need a method of learning and innovation easier and more attractive to use technology in the field of islamic learning especially for procedures Friday prayers. As many smartphone users with an operating system android, then made learning application procedures for Friday prayers based on android. The application of learning is made using software Eclipse IDE and Android SDK with Java as a programming language. Stages of development software used is SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) by using the method waterfall, as modeling software used is UML (Unified Modelling Language). Steps in this research is software requirement analysis, design, coding, testing and maintenance. Functional testing using a method of black box. The result of this research is application procedures of friday prayers learning based on Android can be use to learning friday prayers. The application can run well on a device with a minimum of android operating system version sandwitch 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwitch) with the storage space available mb of 7MB. Function menus and buttons is going according to their respective functions. This application for procedures of friday prayers can be used as a medium for learning friday prayers.
