Internet of Things in FMCG Sector for Better Penetration in Rural India

Even though most consumers are unaware of it, the Internet of Things (IoT) is quietly linking more consumer goods. Consumers expect connectedness in common household goods and technology, regardless of the terminology used to describe the phenomenon such as smart fridges, smart television and gadgets that interact with each other. Since rural India is the biggest market for fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, intensive penetration of the FMCG sector in rural India is beneficial both in demand and supply side of the market. The purpose of this paper is to highlight how IoT can be the facilitator for FMCG industry to penetrate better in the rural India and expand its market base. With the help of a mixed method research, it is inferred that effective expansion in FMCG sector is possible only through exploring rural market with the help of IoT.

Influence of Social Media Strategies on Consumer Decision- Making Process: A Mediating Role of Consumer Engagement

Social Media has become a substantial component in the marketing communication of modern organizations. Social media marketing encompasses both firm-generated and user-generated content, effectively fostering consumer connectivity with brands and companies, thereby influencing their preferences for products and services. Consumer engagement serves as a prominent factor, leading consumers to launch meaningful interactive brand-related conversations and experiences, primarily in online settings. This research ascertains the mediating role of consumer engagement in the relationship between social media strategies and the consumer decision-making process for Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). A descriptive research design and multi-stage sampling were employed to get the responses from the users of FMCG products in selected states of North India. Baron and Kenny’s Model for mediation analysis in regression has been conducted to test the hypothesis. The results of the study reflected the partial mediation of consumer engagement in the relationship between social media strategies and the consumer decision-making process for FMCG products. This study provides marketers with a novel approach, suggesting that they can foster consumer engagement on social media platforms related to products or brands, enabling consumers to actively influence the decision-making process for FMCG products. This framework offers them an opportunity to expand their customer base, enhance product offerings, and ultimately boost sales of FMCG products by influencing prospective consumer behavior.

Pengaruh Label Halal, Harga, dan Kualitas Produk terhadap Keputusan Pembelian Produk Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG):

This study aims to detect the influence of halal labels, prices and product quality on purchasing decisions for Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) products in the community in Sunggal Kanan village. The independent variables in this study were halal label (X1), price (X2) and product quality (X3). The dependent variable in this study is the purchase decision towards the purchase of FMCG products. The sample used in this study was 50 respondents from the FMCG consumer population in Sunggal Kanan village. In this study, the method used was the primary data collection method or directly using questionnaires. This study conducted statistical tests using PLS-based Structural Equation Modelling. Validity tests using factor loading values, and reliability tests using Cronbach's Alpha, Composite Reliability and Average Variance Extracted (AVE) values. From the results of this analysis research states that the halal label variable has a significant impact and has a positive effect on FMCG product purchasing decisions. Meanwhile, the Price and Product Quality variables do not have a significant impact on FMCG product purchasing decisions.

CHANGING TRENDS IN FMCG INDUSTRY IN INDIA

Consumer packaged goods (CPG) is another word for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). The meaning of this product can be deduced directly from the word FMCG. These things are sold in a short period of time and at comparatively low prices. Non-durable products, such as soft drinks, fast food/processed foods, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and a variety of other consumables, are excellent examples. To further define the phrase "non-durable," it refers to all goods that should be used within three years after purchase. FMCG has an extremely short shelf life as a result of this characteristic, which could be due to its high demand or its non-durable nature. Although FMCG is sold in large quantities, the profit margin for producers is modest when compared to retailers. However, because the products are sold in big quantities, the overall profit will be sufficient to keep the business afloat.

Supply chain sustainability drivers for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector: an Indian perspective

Purpose: Sustainability in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) supply chains (SC) is receiving greater than ever attention due to the increasing awareness of sustainability challenges such as climate change and labor rights. A definite solution is to integrate sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) practices all through the upstream and downstream entities of SC. This study identified and compared the drivers for the implementation of SSCM practices in Indian FMCG sector.Design/methodology/approachA methodology based on Grey-Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL), a hybrid multiple-criteria decision making (MCDM) technique and sensitivity analysis was used to envisage the complex causal relationships among the identified SSCM drivers and to identify the critical ones.FindingsThe results showed that regulatory and legislative pressure, competition pressure and innovativeness dominantly drive the implementation of SSCM practices in the upstream and downstream SC of the FMCG sector.Originality/valueThe study examined levers of sustainability in FMCG supply chains in an emerging market with most of the extant research limited to automotive and electronic supply chains.

Economically poor buyer: a systematic review of consumer behaviour research confronting to FMCGs

By constituting more than half of the world's population in numbers and by having an annual consumption power of about US$5 trillion, economically poor buyers are a promising demographic segment, especially for fast moving consumer goods (FMCGs). FMCGs fall within the buying capacities of the poor who, in attempts to satiate their basic needs, expend a substantial income, peculiarly more than half of their earnings, on FMCGs. Ironically, their consumer behaviour in this context is still at a very nascent stage. This study provides insights of their purchase pattern for FMCGs by systematically reviewing the pre-existing pertinent consumer behaviour literature. Instead of reinventing the wheel, it also renders directions to future research through identification of potential literature gaps in the existing literature.

Parametric optimization of plastic injection moulding for FMCG polymer moulding (PMMA) using hybrid Taguchi-WASPAS-Ant Lion optimization algorithm

In this fast growing world, the demand for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and half of the goods are manufactured through the use of plastic. To cater to those, plastic goods are manufactured using different types of moulding process. Plastic injection moulding (PIM) is a technique of injecting molten plastic into a mould to form it. They are widely used to manufacture FMCG products like containers, remote cases, or other small, complex profiles. But sometimes these complex profile mouldings lack dimensional accuracy. The current study provides an understanding of the clear thermoplastic Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) material moulding for FMCG items utilizing an injection moulding machine. The transparent top sheath used in male/female deodorants can be considered in this investigation. For the purpose of minimizing weld-line width and sink-marks depth during injection moulding of commercial grade transparent thermo-plastic (Polymethyl Methacrylate), eight plastic injection moulding criteria were considered, namely melting temperature, mould temperature, cooling time, injection pressure, back pressure, holding pressure, ambient temperature, and holding time. In accordance with Taguchi's Design, the 27 experiments were piloted, and the factors were optimized using the Taguchi-based WASPAS method (Weighted Aggregated Sum Product Assessment), the Ant Lion optimization algorithm, and analysis of variance to determine the most dominant parameter in the minimization of weld-line width and sink-mark depth of the plastic injection moulded part. It was discovered that the cooling time of the plastic injection moulded component is the most important element affecting the weld-line width as well as the depth of the sink-mark on the surface of the part.

Value Co-Creation Model of Halal Logistics Services

Increasing consumer awareness to provide halal assurance in the supply chain process happens in Muslim countries and non-Muslim countries. Kosher products become a symbol for food safety, quality assurance, and lifestyle choice due to the strict requirements, thereby reducing the risk of contamination of the disease. This led to the increase of demands of halal logistics services to implement the halal concepts in logistics processes. One of the obstacles faced by the companies is a lack of understanding of how the halal concept is applied in accordance with the role of each company in the supply chain. This paper illustrates the value co-creation model using several supply chains for Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), cosmetics, fashion, and pharmaceuticals to provide value for customers and all parties that guarantee halal concepts throughout the activities of the supply chains. Business model and the adaptation in operational planning for a transportation company as halal logistics services are also developed in this paper by including segregation process, packaging, cleaning process, halal labeling, and halal documentation to ensure standard halal assurance are distinguished from activities in the general logistics process.

Life Cycle Assessment of Electric Vehicles and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles Using the GREET Model—A Comparative Study

Facing global warming and recent bans on the use of diesel in vehicles, there is a growing need to develop vehicles powered by renewable energy sources to mitigate greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions. Among the various forms of non-fossil energy for vehicles, hydrogen fuel is emerging as a promising way to combat global warming. To date, most studies on vehicle carbon emissions have focused on diesel and electric vehicles (EVs). Emission assessment methodologies are usually developed for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) which are non-durable household goods such as packaged foods, beverages, and toiletries instead of vehicle products. There is an increase in the number of articles addressing the product carbon footprint (PCF) of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the recent years, while relatively little research focuses on both vehicle PCF and fuel cycle. Zero-emission vehicles initiative has also brought the importance of investigating the emission throughout the fuel cycle of hydrogen fuel cell and its environmental impact. To address these gaps, this study uses the life-cycle assessment (LCA) process of GREET (greenhouse gases, regulated emissions, and energy use in transportation) to compare the PCF of an EV (Tesla Model 3) and a hydrogen fuel cell car (Toyota MIRAI). According to the GREET results, the fuel cycle contributes significantly to the PCF of both vehicles. The findings also reveal the need for greater transparency in the disclosure of relevant information on the PCF methodology adopted by vehicle manufacturers to enable comparison of their vehicles’ emissions. Future work will include examining the best practices of PCF reporting for vehicles powered by renewable energy sources as well as examining the carbon footprints of hydrogen production technologies based on different methodologies.

Predicting the Demand for Fmcg using Machine Learning

Now-a-days the more accurate prediction of the demand for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) is a competitive factor for both the manufacturers and retailers, especially in the super markets, wholesale manufacturers and fresh food sectors and other consumable industries. This proposed system presents the benefits of Machine Learning in sales forecasting for short shelf-life and highly-perishable products, as it predict the statistical information as a result, improves inventory balancing throughout the chain, improving availability to consumers and increasing profitability. This performance is done with various classification algorithms and comparative study is done with some metrics like accuracy, precision, recall and f-score. So that it helps in finding customer need and to increase the profit of the manufacturers.

Brand ambassador and customer patronage of FMCGs: mediating effect of advertisement believability

The market for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs) in the Nigerian food and beverage industry has been inundated with a massive amount of promotional messages. These messages have resulted from intense competition and rivalry among the organizations that market similar products. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of a brand ambassador on the patronage of FMCGs. Furthermore, we explore the mediating role of advertisement believability in the relationship between the variables. We use a questionnaire to elicit information from 400 respondents who are members of households in the metropolitan area of Kano that consumed Peak milk. Partial least square algorithms and bootstrapping techniques served as the tools of analysis with the aid of SMART-PLS 3. Our findings indicate that a brand ambassador has an insignificant direct effect on customer patronage and that advertisement believability has no mediating effect on the influence of a brand ambassador on customer patronage. The study recommends that managers of FMCGs should use a hybrid model of a brand ambassador and believable advertising to elicit the desired patronage from their target customers. Further, they should de-emphasis the supposed role of advertisement believability as a mediating factor on the influence of a brand ambassador on customer patronage.

The patanjali brand in India: A review

Because of its enormous population, India is a major market for Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) businesses. There are currently a number of large and minor competitors on the market with considerable clout. The purpose of this article is to examine why the Patanjali brand has grown so quickly in the market. It is obvious that Patanjali's path has not been simple, since Patanjali is a relatively young company. However, Patanjali's positioning, branding, and eventual strategy to build consumer confidence and trust made a difference, and Patanjali's market share grew so quickly that it overtook several goods from well-known brands in only 2 to 3 years, propelling it to the top of the market. Ramdev's marketing plan was executed flawlessly in the market, and his primary formula was “swadeshi,” which worked wonders in attracting a large number of consumers as well as a large number of raw material suppliers, i.e. Indian farmers. It is still necessary to promote locally grown and produced goods.

Herding in Fast Moving Consumer Group Sector: Equity Market Asymmetry and Crisis

This study empirically examines herd behavior for fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector stocks under varied market return conditions and the period during the global financial crisis and its aftermath. We examine the sample of stocks trading on the Nifty FMCG Index of the Indian equity market from January 2008 up to December 2018 using the dispersion measure of cross sectional absolute deviation and examine its relationship with the market return to explore herd phenomenon. Quantile regression estimate is used and the results of the study validate rational asset pricing models as the sector does not display herding. In contrast, anti-herd behavior at lower and median quantile values is observed. A possible reason can be the non-cyclical nature of the industry where investors rely more on the fundamentals rather than crowd chasing. We also findthe absence of herd phenomenon during the market asymmetries of bull and bear phases, extreme movements, the period of the global financial crisis, and afterward. We further examine herding under the impact of the information technology (IT) industry and conclude that significant return movements in IT sector impact dispersions in the FMCG industry. Also, there is a co-varying risk between the two sectors confirming the spillover in an integrated market.

Setbacks to IoT Implementation in the Function of FMCG Supply Chain Sustainability during COVID-19 Pandemic

One of the basic measures of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is a lockdown policy with reduced contacts and physical distance. This presents a challenge, especially for fast-moving-consumer-goods (FMCG) supply chains, which are characterized by a large number of physical contacts between employees in production, physical distribution, wholesale, and retail. One of the ways to comply with the prescribed measures with the smooth functioning of the supply chain is the complete digitalization and automation of all business activities and operations based on the application of the Internet of Things (IoT). In this regard, this paper aims to analyze the setbacks to the digitalization of business processes and the sustainability of the FMCG supply chain based on the implementation of IoT. The research has been conducted among the participants in the standardization chain in the sectors of production, physical distribution, wholesale, and retail of FMCG in the Western Balkans region during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed significant differences between business sectors in terms of the intensity of setbacks to successful IoT implementation. Based on the obtained results, a set of measures and incentives was proposed that the competent institutions and the management of the FMCG supply chain should apply to encourage the digitalization process. Suggestions for future research are given in the paper.

A Study on Customer’s Satisfaction towards Brands of Select Fast Moving Consumer Goods

The demand for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) is increasing day by day. Today we are witnessing a lot of brands of FMCG products in the Indian market. But the question is how much these brands are satisfying the customers’ needs in the Indian market. Keeping this point in view, the paper endeavours to highlight how much the customers are satisfiedwith the brands of FMCG products. Existing literature shows that product quality, service quality, perceived value and financial benefit actually affect customer satisfaction. So analysis in this paper is made to see the correlation with customer satisfaction to other independent variables selected. The relationship between the dependent and independent variables in the study has been analyzed using Regression Analysis. The study is carried out in Tinsukia town, Assam with the total sample size of 375 selected on a quota sampling basis.

Use of Factors Related to the Consumption of Fast Moving Consumer Goods in Business Intelligence System for Managing Orders to Suppliers in Retail Chain

The study examines some aspects related to current trends in the modeling of business intelligent systems (BIS) specializing in retail chains for Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG ) . Current concepts related to factors that influence business processes and their application in business intelligent order management systems in retail chains for FMCG are presented. The aim of the present study is to investigate the factors that have the strongest influence on the consumption of FMCG in retail chains and to derive the values that support business-intelligent processes for automated order management to suppliers. The studied factors presented in the presentation also include consideration of the structure of the incoming data streams, their extraction and their application in practice.

Effectiveness of Online Digital Media Advertising as A Strategic Tool for Building Brand Sustainability: Evidence from FMCGs and Services Sectors of Pakistan

The purpose of the undertaken study is to examine the effectiveness of online digital media advertising as a strategic tool for building brand sustainability. For this purpose, we investigate the impact of different channels of online media, such as email marketing, mobile phone marketing, search engine optimization and companies’ websites, and social media marketing for the effectiveness of online digital media advertising. Moreover, the researchers have introduced eight mediating variables and six moderating variables to examine the impact between exogenous variables and online digital media advertising (endogenous). The researchers have taken 910 responses through a modified questionnaire and employed quantitative research methods, such as the structural equation modeling, exploratory factor and confirmatory factor analyses, and Hayes process approach for examining the mediation and moderation amongst the variables. The results of direct impact have demonstrated that all of the channels of digital media advertising have a positive and significant influence on the effectiveness of online digital media that creates brand sustainability for fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and services sectors of Pakistan. The outcomes of hypotheses pertaining to the mediating and moderating effects of different variables have shown the significant influence between exogenous variables and endogenous variable. The results of the undertaken study are beneficial for the existing literature that provides the basic foil for future research studies. Moreover, the results have significant industrial implications for the marketers and digital media managers that they can devise effective media and marketing strategies to maintain optimum market share and competitive advantages.
