Jeongjoksanseong Fortress Site is an important defense facility established after the mid-Joseon Dynasty for the purpose of protecting the Jungjoksan sago. Through the excavation survey in 2008~2009, most of the building sites such as Naesa, Jinsa, Sindang, Poryanggo, and Heincheong, as well as stonework, fence facilities, and drainage facilities, were identified on the map of 『Jeongjoksanseong Fortress Site』.
In this paper, we analyzed the current status and conditions of the natural and geographical environment of the Jeongjoksanseong Fortress Site, the archaeological historical environment, the status of surrounding cultural properties, excavation survey, and maintenance of the ruins, and analyzed the preservation and utilization cases of domestic and foreign architectural ruins. Since the nature of the ruins is clear and the condition is good, the plan form according to the use of each building site is clearly identified. Therefore, we selected the restoration and maintenance target building site considering the utilization and proposed restoration, maintenance and utilization plan.
First of all, in order to select the object of restoration and maintenance, the site for restoration and maintenance was selected by setting the selection criteria such as 1) whether the results of the excavation survey match the document record, 2) the planar shape is clear and the superstructure can be checked, 3) the usability is large, 4) the symbolism as the central building site, and 5) the surrounding landscape such as Jeondeungsa Temple is not damaged. The restoration targets are Jinsa, Eeast·West Poryanggo, and the main gate, and the maintenance targets are building sites such as Naesa, North Poryanggo 1, North Poryanggo 2, Sindang, Haincheong, Building Site 8, Building Site 9, as well as fence facilities, drainage facilities, and surrounding maintenance.
Jinsa, the object of restoration, is the central building of the Jeongjoksanseong Fortress Site, and was selected as the object of restoration because the excavation survey results and the document records are consistent, the flat form is clear, the symbolism is excellent, The main gate was selected as a restoration target because it has a clear plan shape as well as a coincidence between the excavation survey results and the document records, and because it is located in the main entrance and has symbolism. East·West Poryanggo was selected for restoration because it has excellent usability as a patriotic history museum.
Among the building sites subject to maintenance, the building site expressed on the map of 『Jeongjoksanseong Fortress Site』 is an important defense facility established after the mid-Joseon Dynasty for the purpose of protecting the Jungjoksan sago. Through the excavation survey in 2008~2009, most of the building sites such as Naesa, Jinsa, Sindang, Poryanggo, and Heincheong, as well as stonework, fence facilities, and drainage facilities, were identified on the map of 『Jeongjoksanseong Fortress Site』 has a clear planar shape and cornerstone Reorganized using the “Phenomena Preservation + Stone Exposure” method.
Building site 9 (presumed to be a Jeongjoksan Seongjin before Jeongjoksan Seongjin) was intended to be differentiated from the Jeongjoksan Seongjin building site by restoring the overall soil and preserving the phenomenon, which was identified in the excavation survey and was not seen in the literature record. However, building site 8 (presumed to be a Jeongjoksan Seongjin before Jeongjoksan Seongjin) was reorganized with a “Phenomena Preservation + Stone Exposure” method, even though it was not seen in the literature record, to show the overlapping appearance with the east poryanggo, which is the target of restoration. The fence facility shall be maintained to the height at the time of the excavation survey so that the area of the JeongjoksanSeongjin site and the space within the site can be recognized.
