Defining College Student Financial Literacy Utilizing the Delphi Method

Utilizing the Delphi method, the purpose of this study was to determine the most appropriate financial planning topics for the financial literacy of traditionally aged undergraduate college students. The Delphi method is a qualitative approach used to achieve convergence of opinion concerning real-world knowledge. At the end of the Delphi process, 38 specific topics reached consensus among experts that they were important for all college students to know. These 38 topics can also be grouped into nine larger themes: (a) budgeting, (b) credit, (c) insurance, (d) retirement/benefits, (e) investing, (f) debt management, (g) taxes, (h) banking, and (i) others. Reaching consensus on important topics provides colleges and universities with a road map of what topics they need to ensure that their students are learning. It also lays the foundation for the future development of a valid and reliable instrument to measure college student financial literacy.

The analysis of the RBL-STEM application in improving student financial literacy in controlling consumptive behavior

This study aims to analyze the application of the RBL-STEM learning model in improving students' financial literacy to control their consumptive behavior. The method used in this study combines qualitative and quantitative methods by involving 110 students of Riau University. The data of this study were analyzed using SEM PLS on nine Hypotheses that link the application of the RBL-STEM model, student literacy, and student consumptive behavior. The results showed that one hypothesis was rejected, namely the relationship between Risk management and consumptive behavior. The results of the outer model show that each indicator has a composite reliability (CR) value of >0.7 and an average variance extracted (AVE) value of >0.5. It concludes that the outer model used in this study is good. Based on the analysis results, in general, the application of the RBL-STEM learning model has a significant influence on increasing student financial literacy, which has an impact on controlling student consumptive behavior.

Socioeconomic Influence on Physical Therapist Student Financial Literacy, Self-Efficacy, Stress, and Anxiety.

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students have considerable educational debt upon graduation with suspected low levels of financial literacy, limited financial self-efficacy, and elevated stress and anxiety. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships between financial knowledge, financial anxiety, financial stress, and financial self-efficacy with socioeconomic determinants in DPT students. Five hundred seventy-eight DPT students, surveyed through a cross-sectional sample of convenience. Participants responded to a 40-item demographic questionnaire providing a self-assessment of their current financial literacy, financial self-efficacy, financial anxiety, financial stress, and level of general social support. Pairwise correlations were used to determine the relationship between independent variables and composite scores on self-assessment tools. Multiple regression analyses were conducted to predict financial knowledge, self-efficacy, anxiety, stress, and social support by socioeconomic indicators and educational debt status. While there was a moderate, positive association between presence of debt and financial self-efficacy and financial anxiety for all students (r = .55), there was no statistically significant difference in financial knowledge, self-efficacy, anxiety, stress, or social support for students based on race/ethnicity. There was a negligible to weak correlation between financial knowledge, financial self-efficacy, and level of financial anxiety based on age, race/ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic background, debt load, risk tolerance, and retirement reflection. When subjected to multiple regression analysis, the level of education-related debt could explain a large proportion of the variance in multiple measures, including financial self-efficacy, anxiety, and stress. Economic background explained a large proportion of variance in the general social support students felt. We found a strong, positive correlation between the presence of debt and financial stress and anxiety for all DPT student respondents. While there is no difference in financial literacy and self-efficacy based on race and ethnic background, there is a moderate correlation between self-efficacy and financial anxiety for all students. Education on strategies to manage debt load may reduce both factors.

Pengaruh Literasi Finansial Terhadap Perilaku Pengelolaan Keuangan Siswa Kelas XI SMA Global Islamic Boarding School

This research aims to 1) analyze the level of financial literacy of class XI students at SMA Global Islamic Boarding School and 2) analyze the influence of student financial literacy on financial management behavior in class The type of research used is a quantitative descriptive approach. The subjects in this research were class XI students at SMA Gobal Islamic Boarding School. The sample used was 77 respondents selected using the saturated sampling technique method. Data analysis used in this research uses simple linear regression analysis. The results of the research show 1) the financial literacy level of students at XI SMA Global Islamic Boarding School is at the Sufficent Literate level. where at this level they are grouped based on individuals who have knowledge and confidence in financial institutions and products and services including features, benefits and risks, rights and obligations, but there are still no skills in using financial products and services and 2) financial literacy has a significant effect on the financial management behavior of class XI students at Global Islamic Boarding School.

Currently, financial literacy education in our country is receiving increasing attention, and its importance is widely recognized. As the main place to carry out financial literacy education, schools play an important role in cultivating students' financial literacy. Taking Hezhou University as an example, this article conducts a questionnaire survey on the cross-border e-commerce financial literacy education of business English major students based on the ‘China Financial Literacy Education Standard Framework’, focusing on the crossborder e-commerce financial knowledge, financial skills and financial literacy of students. values. The study found that the target students have a vague concept of financial literacy and do not attach much importance to it. Students are exposed to a low proportion of finance-related content in cross-border e-commerce courses. Students’ crossborder e-commerce financial knowledge, skills, and values need to be strengthened. Starting from the requirements for the high-quality development of higher education in China, and drawing on the experience of domestic and foreign financial literacy education, it is proposed to create a dual channel for ‘teachers and students’ to popularize cross-border e-commerce financial literacy values, and to build an ideological and political embedding of ‘professional courses + financial literacy elements’ model, relying on the second classroom and school-enterprise practice to strengthen the application of cross-border e-commerce financial skills and other suggestions and countermeasures, providing certain reference suggestions for the training of business English majors in local universities and the reform of new liberal arts teaching.

Identity exploration of university students in the somatic and material domains: the mediating role of conspicuous consumption

PurposeThis paper is determined to examine the role of body image and materialism in predicting the identity exploration of university students when conspicuous consumption is a mediator variable.Design/methodology/approachThe study used a quantitative method. Data were collected from students of three federal universities in Nigeria. The sample size was 331. A self-report questionnaire was used to collect data and analysis was performed using the partial least squares structural equation modelling.FindingsFindings reveal that materialism has a negative association in predicting the identity exploration of students. At the same time, there was a significant full and partial mediating effect of conspicuous consumption on the relationship between body image and materialism on identity exploration, respectively.Research limitations/implicationsThe study provides valuable information for parents in understanding how conspicuous consumption may influence their children’s identity formation. The findings can also be helpful for educators in the design of discussions and interventions for students on the social-psychological antecedents of conspicuous consumption and identity exploration. Government and regulatory agencies can use the study’s findings to shape student financial literacy and consumer protection policies.Originality/valueThis study makes both theoretical and methodological contributions to the existing literature. It provided concrete empirical evidence establishing a subtle connection between the symbolic self-completion theory and the identity status paradigm. It is also amongst the first single research conducted within the scope of these two theories in the Nigerian higher education context.

Financial Literacy, Financial Technology Literacy, and Capital Market Participation

Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of financial literacy and fintech literacy on capital market participation. It also examines the effects of individual characteristics (i.e., gender, age, student's allowances and income, parent's education, and parent's income) on financial and fintech literacy. Design/Methods/Approach: This study obtained 349 data from email and field surveys using purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed using OLS and path analysis. Findings: Results show that the level of student financial literacy is sufficiently literate, with a moderate level of fintech literacy but low capital market participation. The results also show financial and fintech literacy positively affects capital market participation. Financial literacy also exhibits indirect effects on capital market participation. Analysis of the determinants of literacy shows that gender, age, student allowances, and income have a significant positive effect on financial literacy and fintech literacy. We also find that parental education and income show a negative effect on fintech literacy. Originality/Value: This study is the first to examine the relationship between financial literacy, fintech literacy, and capital market participation in young adults in metropolitan cities in Indonesia. The results are expected to provide insight for the authorities of the monetary system and the capital market to develop strategies for the more intense involvement of young adults in the capital market. Practical/Policy implication: This study highlights the importance of educating students about financial and fintech literacy to increase their participation in the capital market. Decision-makers should focus on providing intense education on portfolio investment, risk and return, and investment instruments. Financial authorities should also collaborate with fintech operators and securities companies to promote capital market products through fintech and educate the public with more comprehensive information.

The Influence of Peers and Financial Learning in Higher Education on Financial Literacy

Financial literacy is important for individuals so that individuals are better at managing their finances. Good financial literacy can prevent individuals from financial problems. This study aims to determine the effect of peers and financial learning in college on financial literacy. This research method uses a quantitative survey method with an explanatory design. The population used was students of the Department of Sharia Economics, Economics Education, Accounting, Management, Finance and Banking, and Agribusiness Class of 2020 at Siliwangi University, totaling 1013 respondents. The sampling technique used is propotional random sampling with the slovin formula. Meanwhile, the data collection technique in this case uses a questionnaire and the data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression tests. The results showed that 1) there is no significant influence between peers on student financial literacy 2) there is a significant influence of financial learning in college on student financial literacy.

The influence of Social Environment and Economic Rationality on Student Financial Literacy Literacy

Financial literacy is something that needs to be examined today, financial knowledge changes not only in theory, but also in the practice of personal finance in the real world. Knowledge and finance are needed so that individuals do not get entangled in financial problems and are wise in making decisions for personal financial consistency. This study uses quantitative approach with a survey research design. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Siliwangi University class of 2020 participated in this study. With a simple random sampling technique of 305 students as a research sample. and questionnaires as a data collection method. The research findings show,. The social environment has a positive influence on financial literacy . Economic rationality has a positive influence on financial literacy and Social environment and economic rationality have a positive influence on financial literacy simultaneously. The research findings show that the social environment and economic rationality have a considerable impact on financial literacy, with a coefficient of determination of 71%. If everyone does not have adequate financial literacy, the following financial problems arise: inappropriate use of credit cards, wrong choice of financial products, waste of money.

MOTIVASI BELAJAR DAN KUALITAS PELAYANAN DOSEN, PENGARUHNYA PADA LITERASI KEUANGAN MAHASISWA AKUNTANSI UNIVERSITAS PATTIMURA

Financial literacy focuses on understanding and implementing financial concepts it in real life. This study aims to examine the influence of learning motivation and service quality of lecturers on student financial literacy. These two variables are very rarely investigated by previous studies. To answer these questions quantitative research methods using the SPSS application. Questionnaires used to be processed with SPSS to answer research questions from as many as 192 respondents. 192 respondents were Pattimura University accounting students who were studying in the even semester of 2022/2023 and were willing to voluntarily become respondents. The results show that motivation affects literacy while the financial quality of lecturer services does not affect financial literacy. Thus, the lecturer always fosters a spirit of student motivation in the activities of each lecture so that students continue to increase their understanding of financial literacy

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of implementing the independent flow on students' financial literacy abilities. Financial literacy is an understanding and skills regarding understanding concepts, risks and context in financial matters. The research uses quantitative methods where this research uses and collects systematic and structured data from the beginning to the end of data collection. The total population studied was 8 samples with the sample being in class V North Gombak DICTIONARY Study Studio, Selangor, Malaysia. The research was based on students' lack of understanding of financial literacy, so they were unable to manage their finances wisely. This lack of understanding is due to a lack of education regarding financial literacy in both formal and non-formal education. The results of this research show that the application of the independent flow to students' financial literacy skills is very influential and can provide students with an understanding and skills regarding financial literacy which can be seen from the T-Test Sig 2 Tailed = 0.000 < 0.05 which is stated to be very influential, so it can be concluded that the application The independent flow is very influential on the development of students' abilities in terms of student financial literacy and can be applied in the learning process.

Gaya Hidup Siswa Lebih Menentukan Kemampuan Pengelolaan Keuangan Syariah Dibandingkan dengan Literasi Keuangan Syariah

One indicator of sharia financial management is funding made by students. However, not all students manage their finances well. This study aims to examine the effect of Islamic financial literacy and lifestyle variables on students' Islamic financial management. The authors utilized a cross-sectional survey. The sample size used was 104 students of class X Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Tangerang Regency and census as the sampling technique. As for determining the size of the questionnaire using google form through the student's WhatsApp group and having tested its validity and reliability. The author utilized a logistic regression model for testing. The results showed that sharia financial literacy was a significant determinant in improving Islamic financial management. In other words, the higher the student's financial literacy, the better the possibility to manage finances in a sharia manner for students. This showed that the higher student knowledge about finance, managerial ability in sharia would increase. Likewise, students' lifestyles were also a significant determinant in improving students' sharia financial management. The lifestyle in question was that students carry out positive activities, had high interest in learning, had a positive opinions, allocated money appropriately, and utilized money according to their needs. Student lifestyle had a higher influence than financial literacy in determining sharia financial management. The findings of this study provide scientific contributions, especially in the field of education and help students to have good attitudes and behavior in managing finances inside and outside school.

The Influence of Financial Literacy Skills on The Investment Interest of Students of The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar

Financial Literacy is the ability to understand and apply various financial skills This study aims to find out 1) an overview of financial literacy skills of students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar, 2) an overview of investment interests of students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar, 3) the influence of financial literacy skills on the investment interests of students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. The population in this study is all students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar with a total of 5043 people and by applying the slovin formula (10%) obtained a sample of 98 students who then used proportional random sampling techniques in obtaining them. The data collection technique used is a Liquet scale questionnaire which in the development of instruments on each variable will be tested for content validity using the Gregory formula, construct validity testing using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) analysis and instrument reliability testing using the alpha conbach formula. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistics and simple linear regression statistics. The results revealed that 1) the picture of student financial literacy skills in general is in the high category, ) the picture of student investment interest is generally in the low category, 3) there is a positive and significant influence of financial literacy skills on the investment interest of students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. The magnitude of the influence of financial literacy skills on student investment interest is 57%.

Factors Influencing Student Financial Literacy (Case Study of Students at the Faculty of Economics and Government Science, Indo Global Mandiri University)

This study aim to analyze the factors that affect student financial literacy with variables of class rank, GPA and pocket money. The object of this research is students of the faculty of Economics and Government Sciences, Indo Global Mandiri University. Data collection techniques were carried out by distributing questionnaires to 263 respondents individually. The hypothesis testing method is done by the chi-square test. The results of this study indicate that the class rank and GPA factors influence students’ financial literacy, while the pocket money factor do not affect students’ financial literacy.

Financial attitude and financial behavior analysis towards student financial literacy in Kupang City

A child from an early age should have been taught and accustomed to saving money by his parents at home. This will help his future, especially when he grows up, he becomes good at managing finances for needs, savings and wants. A student's knowledge of finance is very important because it will help him manage the money he has as well as possible for daily needs without any difficulties at certain times. This study will analyze the influence of two independent variables, namely financial attitude and financial behavior, on the level of financial literacy of students in Kupang City. The study involved a sample of 100 students from Kupang City who filled out a Google form, which was then used to collect data. Responses to incoming questionnaires will be processed using a statistical program, namely SPSS.26. Analysis of the study data revealed that, while financial behavior did not significantly affect students' financial literacy, financial attitudes had a considerable impact. The results of the concurrent assessment show a strong correlation between students' attitudes and financial behavior, which ultimately has a significant impact on the overall level of students' financial literacy in Kupang City. This result certainly means that students really need to be equipped with knowledge about financial literacy which is very useful for the future in front of them. Good financial knowledge will determine good financial decisions as well.

Financial Literacy: Determinants and Impact on Financial Behaviour

The knowledge and skills required for personal finance management are becoming more important due to a number of trends. At the same time, research of student’s financial literacy either completely lacks or shows that financial knowledge and skills are insufficient. The present first-of-its-kind study in Bulgaria addresses this discrepancy. The purpose of the article is to present the results from an empirical study on the financial literacy of students at Bulgarian universities. From a methodological perspective the article is based on a quantitative empirical research. The research has found that the level of financial literacy is influenced by characteristics such as gender, student income, and responsibility for the financial decision-making, but does not depend on student specialty, university, educational degree or taking a course in personal finance management. If the impact of financial literacy on students’ financial decisions and behaviour is concerned, the results show that the knowledge and skills required for personal finance management influence how one controls the budget in a household, the behaviour in cases of decreased income, and retirement savings. However, financial literacy does not influence the availability of a household budget, the frequency of budget control and the availability of an emergency fund.

The role of student financial behavior and attitudes is important in implementing wise financial literacy. This study aims to determine the behavior and financial attitudes of students towards financial literacy using quantitative methods. The data obtained primary with the questionnaire data collection method and the intended respondents are accounting students in semesters 4 (2020/2021) FEB Palangkaraya University. Sampling was carried out using the Slovin formula and purposive sampling technique so as to get 68 students as samples. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression and the measurement scale of the sample questionnaire value uses a Likert scale. Based on the results of partial and simultaneous regression testing, it is known that student financial behavior has no effect on student financial literacy. Students' financial attitudes have a significant effect on financial literacy. Financial attitudes are needed so that financial literacy is getting better in order to face increasingly complex financial problems in the future. From this study also, students' financial behavior and attitudes have a simultaneous effect on financial literacy, this shows financial behavior followed by the way students respond to the resources they have, leading to a wise attitude in implementing their financial literacy

The main purpose of this article is to consider the level of financial behavior and financial literacy of students in higher educational institutions. Show what knowledge students have in the field of financial literacy, and how they apply it in real life situations in the modern world, where all types of financial services are actively used. It is also equally important to determine what factors influence the financial behavior of students. Indeed, over the past decades, the financial market, in the context of local wars, armed conflicts, crises, has undergone many changes and innovations. All this has an impact on the social population and requires the study of financial literacy and the formation of financial behavior. All this adds up to a complex financial system. Students already have an understanding of simple financial instruments, but basic knowledge in this area is not enough for a financially independent life. One of the causes of financial crises is identified as lack of financial literacy. India, a developing country, is entering the second phase of financial sector reforms. The integration of the economy with the world economy will increase further, with the risk of a world crisis impacting the Indian economy. In India, there is a large unorganized sector, and the government is withdrawing from pension schemes even in the organized sector. In the absence of any social security scheme, the Indian economy will be in a state of major instability after the demographic dividend starts decreasing after 20 or 25 years. Thus, the improvement of financial literacy in the country is imperative for the financial well-being of individuals and for the economy. The significance of financial literacy as a transformation agent on the financial inclusion agenda of the nation is undisputed in academic and practitioner circles. This paper provides a review of the definitional and measurement aspects of financial literacy, and an attempt is made to identify the various aspects involved in defining and measuring financial literacy in India. The researcher examined the level of financial literacy of collegegoing students and analyzed their financial behavior using mean score analysis. The research found that the borrowing behaviors of the students are high, and their interest in learning the life skill of financial management is also high.
