According to the official reports on students’ performance in the secondary school final exam, writing is one of the most difficult language skills for L2 secondary school students in Poland. Not only is writing problematic for students, but it is also troublesome for teacher to correct and assess students’ texts. Thus, the article discusses criteria and methods of evaluating writing in the foreign language secondary classroom as well as problems related with writing and assessment. The author focuses on the process approach to writing, on the basis of which formative assessment can be applied in the L2 writing classroom context.

The thesis statement in argumentative essays is often incorrectly reinterpreted or misunderstood by teachers and students alike, which frequently leads to lower-quality essays in secondary school final exam papers. The thesis statement is the main point of the essay, explaining what the essay will be about and expressing the writer’s position on the subject. A correctly expressed thesis statement is typically a single sentence that consists of a topic, the writer’s position, and supporting evidence. It can be evaluated by considering a number of questions, such as “Does it answer the question?” or “Have I taken a position that others might challenge or oppose?”. An effective thesis statement does NOT announce the writer’s intentions, ask questions, or merely express an opinion on the topic. The position presented in the thesis statement may be based on facts, values, or cause-and-effect processes, and it may also include an alternative viewpoint.

Application of Quality Assurance Management in Boarding Schools: Implications for Final School Examination Results

Purpose–The objective of the present investigation was to scrutinize and elucidate the Quality of Boarding schools to foster the production of high-quality graduates. The study was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Insan Cendekia Serpong and Dwiwarna Parung Senior High School.
 Design/methods/approach–This study utilized qualitative methodology, which involved various data collection techniques such as field observations, interviews with key informants within the school setting, document analysis, library research, and examination of prior research findings. The collected data were analyzed using various techniques including data reduction, presentation, and verification.
 Findings–The study findings indicate that Madrasa Aliyah Negeri Insan Cendekia Boarding School Serpong and Dwiwarna Senior High School Boarding School Parung surpassed national quality assurance benchmarks. Graduation chart data from 2012 to 2017 exhibited a positive trend in progress. Madrasa Aliyah Negeri Scholars had a 94% acceptance rate into state universities, 147 students accepted into prestigious public universities in Indonesia, four accepted into private colleges, and five being accepted into overseas institutions. Similarly, Dwiwarna high school had a 50% acceptance rate into public universities, with 39 students accepted into public universities, 42 accepted into private universities, and six accepted into foreign universities.
 Research implications/limitations–The study highlights the importance of quality assurance management in improving the performance of boarding schools. Future research can investigate the impact of specific quality assurance management practices on the academic outcomes of boarding schools.
 Originality/value–This Study provides unique insights into the impact of quality assurance management on a specific academic outcome, which can inform future research in the field of education.

Implementasi Program Pembiasaan Tahfizul Qur’an Dalam Membentuk Karakter Islami di SDIT Assyafiiyah Kabupaten Garut

After writing and reading activities, al-Qur'an memorization is an important part of Islamic Religious Education learning in schools. Memorizing selected short letters in school, both in elementary and secondary schools, is done in stages based on developmental and educational levels. SDIT Assyafiiyah, Garut Regency, uses the Yaumiyyah Tahfidzul Qur'an program habituation as a supplement to Islamic Religious Education, ensuring that students are proficient not only in knowledge and skills, but also in memorizing the Qur'an. The method used in this study is to use an analytical descriptive method with a qualitative approach, namely, to describe or provide an overview of an object under study through data or samples that have been collected as they are without conducting analysis to make general conclusions. The results of this study are the implementation of Yaumiyyah's Tahfidzul Qur'an habituation at SDIT Asysyafiiyah, Garut Regency. Students are divided into several groups, where this grouping is based on the amount of memorization possessed by each student. The learning evaluation of Yaumiyyah's Tahfizul Qur'an Habituation Program conducted at SDIT Asysyafi'iyah Garut Regency is divided into two times, namely, the daily evaluation is carried out by the teacher when students deposit their newly memorized memorization or deposit their memorized pages by giving an assessment of the reading when memorizing such as makhorijul letters, tajwid, and fluency when depositing memorization, while this semester evaluation is carried out after the end of the school final exam, where each student is required by the teacher to read several letters in accordance with the number of memorization, each individually in front of the teacher.

Interrogating the Quality of Junior High School Final Exam Made by EFL Teacher Using ITEMAN 4.3 Program

The ministry of Education Department, since the removal of USBN, mandates every school to conduct a school final exam that should made by the teachers. In this study, the writer focuses on the English Junior High School Final Exam made by EFL teacher distributed in Mojokerto academic year 2021/2022. In order to know the quality of the item test, the analysis can be done by investigating the validity, reliability, item difficulty, item discrimination, and item distractors. This study used descriptive quantitative. The respondents of this study were taken from English school final exam of 9th-grade students in MTS Bahrul Ulum which consists of 50 multiple choice items from 31 students. The instrument are the test question, the students’ answer sheet, and the answer key. It will be analyzed by using ITEMAN 4.3 program as an effective solution for item test analysis. The result indicates that the content validity still do not cover the whole material in the syllabus. The reliability of the test is 0.91 which is categorized as reliable. The difficulty level of the item test is 0.60 or 60% which is considered good. The item discrimination is 0.38 considered as satisfactory. The effective item distractors is 48%, smaller than the percentage of ineffective items. In conclusion, the quality of English Junior High School Final Exam made by EFL teacher distributed in Mojokerto academic year 2021/2022 in terms of validity, reliability, item difficulty, item discrimination, and item distractors absolutely needs improving.

Difficulties and Anxiety Of 9th-Grade Students in Facing Final Exam During a Pandemic

This research aims to explain students’ difficulties in learning mathematics, the factors that cause learning difficulties, and student anxiety in facing school final exams during a pandemic and explain the design of a good mathematics learning system that should be carried out during a pandemic according to the results of this research. This research is descriptive qualitative research that was conducted in one of the junior high schools in the Tangerang district in 2021 with the research sample being 9th-grade students. For getting the data, this research used questionnaires, interviews, and documentation techniques. The result of this study found some of the main problems that happened to students in facing school final exams include students' unpreparedness for online learning, lack of interest in learning in students, lack of understanding of the material, feeling lazy to take part in online learning, difficulties in learning mathematics and the anxiety of students themselves in facing the final school exam. Making a good and comfortable learning system by paying more attention to the mental readiness of students and making teaching materials in the form of audio-visual or video can be one of the right solutions. In addition, face-to-face learning can provide motivation to students to increase their confidence. Thus, their anxiety in facing the final school exam can be overcome.

Learning System Management To Improve The Quality Of Learning Chemistry On Students Of State 8 Sma Negeri 8 Bekasi And Taman Students High School Of Bekasi

The quality of education is reflected by the competence of graduates which is influenced by the quality of the process and content of education. Achievement of graduate competencies that meet standards must be supported by educational content and processes that also meet standards. Currently students tend to solve a problem by imitating the problem solving demonstrated by the teacher when discussing questions. In addition, later students will find it difficult to apply concepts to solve non-routine problems and real problems related to the concepts that have been studied. This is what causes the low ability of students to solve problems. The research method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, this method is used to solve the problem under study where this research is aimed at extracting data and information related to the management of the learning system to improve the quality of student chemistry learning at SMA Negeri 8 and SMA Taman. Bekasi students. To obtain objective data in this study the authors used certain data collection methods and techniques. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the results of the research, the Principal has carried out learning management, including: Mastering the outlines of the teaching program for each field of study and each class, Arranging school programs for one year, Arranging lesson schedules, Coordinating activities for formulating teaching unit models, Arranging activities assessment, Implementing the norms of grade promotion, Coordinating school guidance activities, Maintaining and developing school library books and learning tools. The Principal in learning management is responsible for the implementation of educational activities, school administration, coaching other educational staff, and the utilization and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure. In the implementation of relatively good learning, the teacher carries out learning activities including preliminary activities, core activities, and closing activities. The core activities consist of exploration, elaboration, and communication activities. The principal provides guidance, assistance, supervision and assessment on issues related to the technical implementation and development of teaching education in the form of improvement of teaching education programs and activities in order to create teaching and learning situations. The impact of the implementation of learning management on students and schools are: 1) school final exam results, 2) accreditation scores, 3) public trust and 4) on the academic and non-academic achievements of SMA Negeri 8 Bekasi students.

Self-Regulated Learning, Learner Characteristics and Relations to Webtool Usage in Higher Education

Studying at university places high demands on the control and regulation of one's own learning behavior. In order to support students’ learning, we developed and used a webtool containing elements such as regular performance testing as well as feedback on test performance and self-evaluations. In this report, we first introduce core elements of the applied webtool. Then, we present findings on student's use of this tool. Results show substantial variability in willingness and frequency of tool usage between students. Students with better final school exam grades and students who intended to engage regularly in course postprocessing were more willing to use such a tool. The findings are discussed against the background of regulation requirements in open learning environments and implications on better implementation are derived.

Forecasting of Successful Completion of University Study Programs: Data Pre-processing and Optimization of LAMA BPO Algorithm

Lithuanian school graduates wishing to be admitted to state-funded places at universities undergo a competitive selection based on their final school and state exam grades. The problem of organizing competitive selection is that in Lithuania there are different types and scales of school knowledge assessments. Algorithm developed by LAMA BPO address this problem by adjusting grades into a single scale. But choice of final arithmetic values into which pupil's grades are converted is not justified theoretically. Proposed by the authors algorithm is a development of the LAMA BPO algorithm and allows to achieve a consistently higher accuracy of predicting learning results at the university. The higher accuracy of the models indicates a better capture of the central trend: a positive correlation between the level of performance in individual school disciplines and the results of university education in certain study programs.

Assessing Arabic Speaking Skills: A Critical Study for Implementation of Final Examination in Indonesia

Assessment is one of the basic processes in the educational process after determining goals and teaching students. The national school final examination, in Indonesia called UAMBN, is one of the programs for conducting Arabic language tests, and focuses on assessing four skills of students. In fact, speaking skills test is not in the program. The purpose of this research is to criticize the lack of implementation of speaking skills assessment at UAMBN. Researcher used a critical methodology to analyze the data by configuration of four analytically distinguished but intertwined dimensions: (1) critical understanding and in-depth examination, (2) critical explanation and comparative generalization, (3) open discourse and transformative redefinition or action, and (4) reflexive–dialectic argumentation. The results of the study are the absence of an Arabic speaking skill test in the national madrasah final exam/UAMBN cannot be tolerated. Distributing the assessment process in national school final exams/USBN is not the right solution. UAMBN should still hold Arabic speaking skills tests in special sessions. The solution in the form of an assessment implementation design is available in this study. Further research related to the application of this design is highly recommended to improve the quality of learning Arabic speaking skills.

Penerapan Tekhnik Disensitiasi Sistematis Untuk Mengurangi Kecemasan Dalam Menghadapi Ujian Akhir Pada Siswa Kelas IX di MTs Negeri 10 Nganjuk

The problem in this study is the application of systematic desensitization techniques to reduce anxiety in facing school final exams in 9th grade students, in this study the aim is that students can control the anxiety that exists within themselves and can find things that they feel comfortable with. , in this study using qualitative research methods using the type of guidance and counseling action research. The subjects in this study were 5 9th grade students of MTsN 10 Nganjuk, from this research resulted in the application of an effective systematic dissertation technique used to reduce anxiety in facing school final exams in 9th grade students of MTsN 10 Nganjuk.

PENGARUH PEMBELAJARAN DARING TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR IPA SISWA SMP

<p><em>This study aims to determine the results of science learning outcomes of students in online learning using Google Meet and Google Classroom during Covid-19 pandemic. Population in this study were all class VIII as many as 210 students consisting of 7 classes. The sample in this study consisted of 2 classes with a total of 60 students. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling technique and obtained 2 classes VIII-1 (Google Meet) and VIII-2 (Google Classroom). The type of this research is descriptive quantitative research using primary data analysis (questionnaire data) distributed using google form. The secondary data analysis was obtained from the School Final Examination data. The data were analyzed using SPSS 21 to get the mean, standard deviation (S), normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis testing (t-test) at a significant level = 0.05. The results of hypothesis testing using SPSS obtained a significant 0.012 from t count (2.679), significant level = 0.05 and (df) = 58 obtained t table (2.001). If t count > t table is 2.679 > 2.001, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means, there is an effect of online learning on junior high school students' learning outcomes. In terms of learning outcomes, classes that use Google Meet have higher learning outcomes than classes that use Google Classroom.</em></p>

Implementation of Martyrdom Values of Surah Al-Fatihah Verse 5 in Achieving Children's Educational Goals

This study aims to determine the relationship between the ability to read the Qur'an and students' interest in learning with the learning outcomes of children's education. The problem in this study is implementing Children's Education at SD Negeri Mulyasari. II Dusun Kampungsawah, Mulyasari. The village, Ciampel District, has not been optimally implemented because, (i) religious lessons are generally taught only 2 hours per week, on average, (ii) background understanding and appreciation of diverse Islamic life, (iii) understanding that children's education lessons do not contribute directly to the skills required in the world of work. These problems impact the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of children's education outcomes which are still not optimal. This study uses quantitative methods with data collection techniques by distributing questionnaires, and data analysis is carried out after completing data collection and using statistics to test hypotheses. Reciting Al-Qur'an; (2) data on students' interest in PAUD learning is carried out by distributing questionnaires; (3) PAUD results in data are taken from the final school exam scores for the 2021 academic year. Students with good reading skills in Children's Education tend to have high learning outcomes. Student learning interest is significantly related to student achievement in Children's Education lessons. There is a positive relationship between the variables in this study simultaneously, namely the Qur'an. They are reading ability and interest in learning, with student achievement in Children's Education subjects.

Manajemen Kelas dalam Pembelajaran Al-Quran Metode Ummi di MTs Sunan Drajat Banjarwati Paciran Lamongan

MTs Sunan Drajat Banjarwati Paciran Lamongan is one of the institutions located under the auspices of the Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School which has an Ummi method of learning Al-Quran learning program. To produce a good Quranic generation, it is necessary to have class management to create conducive classroom conditions, in order to overcome obstacles in student learning. So to describe how the implementation of the Ummi method in learning Al-Quran, this research was carried out. Research objectives 1) How is classroom management in the Ummi method of learning Al-Quran at MTs Sunan Drajat Banjarwarti Paciran Lamongan? 2) What are the problems and solutions for classroom management in the Ummi method of learning Al-Quran at MTs Sunan Drajat Banjarwati Paciran Lamongan? This research is a qualitative research that produces data and is analyzed using a descriptive method that is adapted to the Ummi method of learning Al-Quran at MTs Sunan Drajat Banjarwati Paciran Lamongan. The data collected using interview techniques, observation and documentation of the results of classroom management research in Al-Quran learning the ummi method as follows 1). Teacher planning to prepare PROTA (Annual Program) and PROMES (Semester Program), class grouping at the beginning of PPDB (New Student Admission) with the Pre-Test, regarding the implementation the teacher adjusts to the 7 stages that have been set by the teacher, evaluating there are several evaluations assessment during learning takes place, when UAS (School Final Examination) and UTS (Middle Semester Examination) increase in the last volume of Imtihan and Khotmil. 2). The problems and solutions are: lack of teachers in learning, student discipline with solutions must be brave to add 2 times more teachers during learning and with certified teachers, take Tahsin once a month.

Analysis of Students’ Reading Comprehension Achievement in Doing High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) in School Final Exam

The objectives of the study are to measure students’ reading comprehension achievement in doing HOTS and to find out the percentage of HOTS in English reading comprehension in school final examination at SMAN 1 Mendo Barat, Bangka. The sample of this study were two classes with total number of 69 students. In this study, the researcher used students’ test results as the instruments for collecting data. The results of HOTS in reading comprehension was then analyzed by using analysis card listed in the revised edition of Bloom’s taxonomy. It showed that the mean of students’ absorption in answering HOTS in reading comprehension correctly was 35,79% and categorized as bad. Furthermore, the percentage of HOTS in reading comprehension in UAS was 25 % of 40 multiple choice test items, without the evaluation and creation skills and 10 questions represented analysis skill. Therefore, the researcher found that the factors of students’ difficulties in doing HOTS are 1) lack of interest in reading English texts, 2) having no idea the purpose of English reading texts and 3) not accustomed to make conclusions or interpret the texts due to being lack of vocabulary.

Obstacles on the Road to School

This paper examines the impact of mobility restrictions on educational performance in the West Bank over 2000–2006 during the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This conflict is characterized by a system of mobility restrictions enforced through physical barriers such as checkpoints. Using novel data on the location of barriers, we find that exposure to one or more checkpoints reduces the probability of passing the final high school exam by 1–3 percentage points and the overall score by 0.04–0.07 standard deviations. We find evidence of three mechanisms at play: school resources deteriorate, students' psychological wellbeing worsens, and students lose time due to delays at checkpoints.

Exploring the school-university mathematics skills gap for Economic Sciences

The training of highly skilled persons for the areas of Economics and Commerce requires that degree students upon entry need certain knowledge and skills in mathematics including aspects of statistics. The context is distance education and entry students seem unable to cope with the requirements of the mathematics-based topics that they need to study at the first year of tertiary education. It resulted in university staff speculating about a gap in pre-knowledge and skills. This study aims to investigate this phenomenon, starting with content and Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy analyses of final year school examination papers in mathematics, comparing it with similar analyses of first-year mathematics-based module examinations in the Economic sciences. Students that passed mathematics at school are supposed to have had adequate preparation for the first level Bachelor of Commerce. Coping with routine procedures mainly upon exit from secondary education does not signal well for the subsequent training of economists and commerce students. The situation seemingly does not improve at tertiary level where there is a further emphasis on routine procedures compared to higher order thinking skills.
