This study aims to design a Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network in Butuh Kidul Village, Tengaran District, Semarang Regency. In today's digital era, access to fast and stable internet is a fundamental need for communities. However, many rural areas in Indonesia, including Butuh Kidul Village, still lack adequate internet access. FTTH networks provide a solution by utilizing fiber optic cables that can transmit data at high speeds and with large bandwidth capacity. This research employs the Passive Optical Network (PON) method as the network architecture to enhance efficiency and scalability. The expected outcome is that the local community will benefit from improved internet access, supporting digital village programs and enhancing the quality of life and economic potential. This research is anticipated to serve as a reference for similar network developments in other rural areas.

Fiber To The Home (Ftth) Network Infrastructure Design Using Gigabyte Passive Optical Network (Gpon) Technology South Solok District

Penerepan Analisis Optical Line Terminal (OLT) Dengan Rasio Spliter dan Pasif Spliter Pada 8 Optical Distribution Point (ODP)

This service aims to analyze the application of Optical Line Terminal (OLT) with splitter and passive splitter ratios at eight Optical Distribution Points (ODP) in the Fiber To The Home (FTTH) network. Through distance measurements, observations, and analysis of the power link budget and rise time budget, this research evaluates the performance of the FTTH network and determines the optimal configuration for the OLT and splitter. The results show that proper OLT settings and splitter ratios can significantly improve optical network performance. These findings provide practical guidance for internet service providers in designing efficient and reliable FTTH networks.

Analisis Kualitas Pembangunan Jaringam Fiber To The Home Iconnet Pada Area Cluster Padang Barat

Fiber To The Home (FTTH) networks have become an important communications infrastructure that meets the need for fast and reliable internet connectivity in various communities. The aim of this research is to provide a comprehensive analysis of FTTH network development, focusing on the factors that influence the quality of FTTH networks and their impact on society and industry. The research method used, among others, is quantitative by measuring the IN and OUT attenuation parameters at the Optical Distribution Point using an Optical Power Meter measuring instrument. Then the results are compared with the TIPHON/ITU-T Packet Loss standard. The analysis results show that IN and OUT attenuation greatly influences the quality of the FTTH network. The results of the total attenuation analysis on Line A show that the attenuation that has been compared using Packet Loss has a total attenuation difference of 1.11% to 1.37%, on Line B 1.07% to 1.49%, on Line C 1.27% to 1.43%, and on Line D 1.16% to 1.56% the difference obtained during the research can still be said to be quite feasible and good for use by customers. By considering these factors, it is hoped that the construction of an FTTH network can provide maximum benefits for society and industry in supporting economic growth and technological progress.

Installation and Activation of Fiber To The Home (FTTH) Networks and Macrobending Problems in the Feeder Cable Segment

Macrobending is a form of disturbance in Fiber To The Home (FTTH) networks that occurs due to macro-level bending of the cable caused by damage to the fiber optic. Macrobending frequently occurs in FTTH networks within the feeder cables. Feeder cables serve as connectors between the Optical Line Terminal (OLT) and Optical Distribution Cabinet (ODC) in the FTTH system. The occurrence of macrobending in feeder cables affects the quality of the FTTH network. In this study, the impact of macrobending is analyzed based on curvature diameters of 50 cm, 25 cm, and 5 cm on feeder cables before and after FTTH network activation. Before FTTH network activation, the High Super Luminescent Diode (HSL) is used as the input power source, whereas after activation, the input power source comes from the OLT using Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) modules. The attenuation (loss) before activation due to macrobending, with curvature diameters of 50 cm, 25 cm, and 5 cm, is found to be 0.02 dB, 0.05 dB, and 0.26 dB, respectively. After activation, the attenuation with the same curvature diameters is measured as 0.01 dB, 0.02 dB, and 0.20 dB, respectively. It is observed that as the curvature diameter decreases, the attenuation increases. The comparison of attenuation before and after network activation doesn't show a significant difference because the input power doesn't affect macrobending, rather it is influenced by the curvature diameter.

Optimizing ODP Device Placement on FTTH Network Using Genetic Algorithms

Currently the problem of Optical Distribution Point (ODP) infrastructure is important in fiber to the home (FTTH) network access because ODP infrastructure development is no longer dependent on demand, so placing ODP manually without a systematic method can cause an increase in the value of optical fiber attenuation. on the length of the cable and cause the cable distribution to be irregular. This study aims to optimize the placement of ODP devices in PT BCV's FTTH network by using the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) scheme with the genetic algorithm (GA) approach and using hybrid GA, testing is carried out using Matlab software. Testing with development using Hybrid GA gets the best path with a fitness value of 28.6457 and a computation time of 89.93 seconds.

Intelligent Network Maintenance Modeling for Fixed Broadband Networks in Sustainable Smart Homes

Due to the emergence of sustainable smart homes, each smart device requires more bandwidth putting pressure on the existing home networks. A very good solution to ensure high-bandwidth home networks is the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) technology. FTTH delivers high-speed Internet from a central point directly to the home through fiber optic cables. This fixed broadband network can transmit information at virtually unlimited speed and capacity enabling homes to be smarter. Hence, a well-monitored and well-maintained FTTH broadband network is necessary to obtain a high level of service availability and sustainability in smart homes. This study aims to develop a predictive model that will proactively monitor and maintain FTTH networks through the use of sophisticated modeling techniques such as machine learning (ML). The predictive model targets to classify the proposed technician resolution based on the historical FTTH field dataset. The results show that the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN)-based model obtained the highest accuracy of 89% followed by the Feed-Forward Artificial Neural Network (FF-ANN)-based model with 86%. In addition, the identified anomalies from the dataset affecting service degradation and performance include FTTH access issues, ONU issues, and faults in customer premises equipment.

Centralized Monitoring for Huge FTTH Network using Code Grating

The Covid-19 has impacted the demand in broadband communication specifically in Fiber to the Home (FTTH). The increase in the demand caused the increase in the number of users in Triple play service during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period. Consequently, the high volume of user has slowed down the internet speed and connectivity. In addition, there is no effective monitoring system to monitor the network health from user end. This study was conducted to design a PON Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network which can serve thousands of users by increasing the capacity of the network and at the same time the network operator will be able to monitor any faulty branch(s) at the user end. By upgrading the new component in PON FTTH such as SOA, AWG and Demultiplexer, the network is able to support up to 30 000 users and also able to monitor fault user branches in FTTH network by using code FBG.

The effect of temperature to the reflected signal of PMMA FBG in FTTH network

The need for an early detection of disaster has grown vital because of the rise in natural disaster events occurred in Malaysia recently, such as fire, landslides, and floods. Thus, an early warning system could somehow reduce the seriousness of disaster. Due to this, Polymer Optical Fiber (POF) has garnered a lot of interest, because of its promising features especially for becoming a sensing device. This paper study the effectiveness of polymer FBG sensor in Fiber-To-The Home (FTTH) network. The simulation was done using OptiSystem7.0 software. The changes of power(dBm) due to the temperature changes was tabulated. PMMA has shown a significant change in power with averagely 1.123 dBm drop for every 10°C increase of temperature. This indicates that PMMA have promising characteristics to become the main material for fabrication of FBG sensor.

ATTENUATION ANALYSIS ON FIBER TO THE HOME (FTTH) NETWORK WITH GIGABIT PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWROK (GPON) AT OXYGEN HOME PONTIANAK

Optical fiber as a transmission medium that meets the needs of the internet with large bandwidth. The FTTH (Fiber To The Home) network can deliver a variety of digital information, such as voice, video and data more effectively so that it can support the Triple Play service marketed by Oxygen Home. To determine the feasibility and performance of the FTTH (Fiber To The Home) design system in the Bali Agung 2 Complex, South Pontianak, it will be assessed based on test parameters. The test parameters are Power Link Budget for system feasibility and BER (Bit Error Ratio) will be displayed with an eye diagram for system performance used using Optisystem software, Optisystem is software that can be used to simulate a fiber optic network from central to end – user. From the results of the FTTH network simulator using optical system software, it is found that the farthest user attenuation value is Prx: -16.018 dBm, 1.4804 x 10-61 and Q factor 16.5122. The results obtained are feasible because they are above the minimum FTTH network standard with GPON technology

PEMBANGUNAN INFRASTRUKTUR FIBER TO THE HOME OLEH PT IKHLAS CIPTA TEKNOLOGI DI KAWASAN DESA JATIRANGGON

In the current era of globalization, the world of technology and information, especially the computer world, is developing very rapidly. Fiber to the Home (FTTH) is one example of the results of the development of the Internet. Fiber to the Home (FTTH) is a fiber-optic-based network communication device that provides various services such as the Internet, telephone network as well as live television broadcasts to private users. Today, many people need the Internet for many activities that require an Internet connection. When we build a FTTH (Fiber to the Home) network, we must build a quality network that is not only connected to the Internet, especially now that many ISPs are building FTTH (Fiber to the Home) networks requiring innovation. In this research, we tested the quality of the Internet, by testing the Quality of Services, which took into account download speed, upload speed, latency, delay and packet loss. The results of the test show that the download speed is 66.22Mbps, upload is 73.69Mbps, ping latency is around 5-8ms, and jitter is 7.84

Technology Adoption: Intelligent Agent-based Model for Philippines FTTH Broadband Service Availability

The vast improvement in broadband service delivery has been achieved mainly in the Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) technology, which was influential during this pandemic in providing connectivity with everyone, thus ensuring high service availability. The evolution of network monitoring systems has helped achieve this by equipping the network engineers in performing corrective or predictive maintenance. However, minimal research has been conducted to investigate how the adoption of technology and different factors attributes, including organizational culture, have helped or served as the bottlenecks in meeting the set service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) hinged on the system utilization. This study focuses on measuring, predicting, and simulating technology adoption's interdependence with FTTH network monitoring systems to detect last-mile issues and perform necessary maintenance activities. An agent-based simulation via AnyLogic towards broadband service availability is to be drawn from different works of literature and support the creation of a theoretical model. The goal is to have a simulation tool and quantified outcomes to predict the valued indicators that can help the telecommunications sector to be equipped with proper knowledge in understanding the end-to-end broadband service journey that can benefit not only the business but also the subscribers who rely heavily on broadband service.

Fiber to The Home (FTTH) Network Design Using Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) Technology Using Link Power Budget and Rise Time Budget Analysis in Cibeber Village Tasikmalaya

Fiber optic is a transmission medium that can transmit information with large capacity. One of the developments in local fiber access networks is FTTH (Fiber to The Home). The construction of the FTTH network uses Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology so that it can provide broadband services to customers with a wider range. This research was studied by designing FTTH based on GPON technology in Cibeber Village, Manonjaya District. The existing condition of the FTTH network in Cibeber Village is that there are 2 Optical Distribution Points (ODP) for 20 customers with each ODP having 10 subscribers. From the results of the location survey by measuring the distance to each customer, the furthest distance to the customer for the two ODPs was obtained, so that 2 new ODPs were needed for the design. From the design of the new optical network infrastructure, it has been analyzed using the link power budget and rise time budget method based on the customer with the farthest distance before the addition of ODP has a Power Receive sensitivity of -16.631 dBm to -15.631 dBm on the uplink and -16.644 dBm to -15.574 dBm on the downlink, these results are in accordance with the expected standard, which ranges from -8 dBm to -27 dBm. In calculating the value of the rise time budget for customers after the addition of ODP, it has a value of 0.2044 ns to 0.2039 ns on the uplink and 0.2188 ns to 0.21574 ns on the downlink. This value is still below the standard time limit set by PT. Telkom Indonesia 0.56 ns for uplink and 0.292 ns for downlink. So based on this the results of the design are feasible to implement.

Optical Distribution Network Design Using PSO

Fiber To The Home (FTTH) network based on the Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology is considered a technology option capable of spreading high-speed Internet. However, the high project cost may make its deployment unfeasible. Given this challenge, we use Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to propose an Optical Distribution Network (ODN) design in FTTH network. The ODN is a region that links the Central Office (CO) and the User Network (UN), that is, a strategic region that needs additional attention. In the literature so far is rare to find a technical-economic analysis of the ODN problem. Therefore, the novelty of this letter is to adapt the PSO, an efficient and fast strategy to be applied to multivariable functions, within an ODN design with technical and economic criteria. Using system-level simulations, we attest that the proposed algorithm achieves 12% cost reduction from the conventional way.

Technoeconomic assessment of an FTTH network investment in the Greek telecommunications market

Recent years have seen an increasing need for higher broadband connections, fueled by novel applications including fifth generation wireless networks (5G). The European Commission is working on achieving specific milestones regarding the development of next generation networks. Many EU countries have opted to adopt a gradual migration path towards the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) technology in view of the high costs of implementation. The Fiber-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) architecture, combined with very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line 2 (VDSL2) and vectoring noise cancellation techniques may therefore provide a viable short-term basis solution. Techno-economic modeling and assessment is vital at the initial stages of the development of a telecommunication network investment project involving high capital expenditures for the infrastructure. The present work provides a techno-economic model in order to assess the prospects of such a network upgrade project from a financial perspective, following a three-way migration path. The three stages are: the implementation of the FTTC architecture with VDSL2 vectoring technology, the upgrade to FTTC with G.Fast and finally the migration to FTTH. The analysis is implemented over a suburb of the city of Athens, Greece. Different scenarios are evaluated, predicting profits even from the first years following the investment. The analysis includes the estimation of the degree of market penetration, analytical cost calculations for the implementation and operation of the network and the evaluation of crucial financial indicators, regarding the prospects of the investment in vectoring services. The study can serve as a complete road-map and can be applied in similar upgrade scenarios. The most important outcome of the analysis is that the profits resulted from each upgrade will finance the next step.

Design of an FTTH (Fiber To The Home) network for improving voice, broadband, and television services in hard-to-reach areas the Colombian case

This project establishes the process of designing a fiber optic Ftth network that reaches the homes of each end customer, which allows providing voice services, broadband internet, and television, the above using GPON technology, based on the tree architecture through passive elements, where the node or central is connected to other nodes through a common link, which is shared by all the nodes (ONTs) of the network. This network will be designed in two levels, the first level that starts from the OLT to the level one splitter and the second level that begins from the level one splitter to the OTB element that the level two Splitters have. The entire design will be subject to standards that must be met to achieve the percentage of attenuation allowed. At the design level, it has two directions: one from left to right, where the nodes insert traffic, and another from right to left, where the nodes only have two functions: read or read and delete traffic. It is nothing more than the convergence of the primary communication services of today, such as fixed telephony, the internet, and television. The FTTH Network is designed for the Municipality of Usiacurí of the Department of Atlántico, using the Top-Down Design methodology, where the requirements are analyzed, the designs are developed, and the tests are carried out. The operation of this network is monitored.

Design, implementation and evaluation of a Fiber To The Home (FTTH) access network based on a Giga Passive Optical Network GPON

Requirements such as high bandwidth and capacity for high speed internet, High Definition Television “HDTV” and Voice Over Internet Protocol “VOIP”, lead to the proposals for Fibre To Home FTTH Access Network. FTTH based on Giga Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology is one techniques that can provide triple play services at a reasonable cost. It uses only passive equipment except at the central office and the customer premises. Most telecom operators now use FTTH networks based on GPON due to its flexibility in handling extended technologies and services in the future. For a GPON technology, a maximum of 128 uses can be included in a network with maximum reach of 60 ​km and maximum distance between consecutive optical network terminals of 20 ​km as per G.984.6 ITU-T specification. GPON uses 2.44 Gbps downstream and 1.24Gbps upstream data transmission.

Design Passive Optical Network Using Multiclass Classification Neural Network

To require the order of last mile and the increasing demands of high quality of internet, the network architecture of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) has been chosen by numerous ISP (Internet Service Provider). Poor planning does not only increase the infrastructure costs, but it also increases maintenance costs. In this study, the authors focus on the design of passive optical network by using multiclass classification [9] in backpropagation neural network to shorten the FTTH network planning based on passive optical network design to determine final splitter type which refers to the feasibility of QoS (Quality of Service) and Cost Efficiency. Dataset in this study utilizes GIS (Geographic Information System) report with 33 sub-districts in Malang Regency in 2019 data layer. As a result, after 7300 epoch, the accuracy training was 99.99% and the splitter classification accuracy was 98.76%.

A study on FTTH implementation and migration in Nepal

The increasing demand of high speed data results into extensive enhancement on different telecommunication technologies through wireline and wireless technologies. Optical Fiber technology is being popular for fixed broadband technologies and for backhaul network data for network convergence and media device interaction. Fiber to the home (FTTH) is gaining momentum of deployments in many countries all around the world. Passive optical network (PON) utilizes point to multipoint (P2MP) topology and is becoming suitable, cost effective, and promising solutions as compared to existing copper based telecommunication infrastructure. PON architecture is cheaper than other architectures due to dynamic bandwidth allocation and common resources that can be used by different subscribers and especially for home subscribers. This paper presents a study on the effective deployment of PON based FTTH network at Nepal by referring the deployment scenario of Nepal Telecom (NT), while this network design, deployment, and implementation provides a lesson learn for cost effective deployment of such network to other stakeholders of developing countries having similar territory and implementation challenges.

Designing project schedule using crashing method to compress the fiber to the home project schedule

ABC Company is an agent of network construction, operation, and maintenance. ABC Company is currently implementing the STTF (Shit to the Front) project, which is the project to add FTTH (Fiber to the Home) networks in areas that can have high customer demand. One of the STTF project construction sites is the Indra Prahasta II housing location. However, the project is currently experiencing work delays due to the Covid-19 disaster in Indonesia. Delays in project execution can result in potential prospects choosing another company that provides similar services. The project schedule can be accelerated using the crashing method and TCTO (Time Cost Trade-Off) analysis to solve this problem. This research's acceleration will be carried out with alternatives for adding 3 hours, 2 hours, 1 hour, and an alternative to increasing workers' number. This project has an average duration of 55 working days with a total cost of Rp 604,124,460. The results obtained from data processing, on the alternative of adding 1 hour of overtime work, the total duration becomes 54 working days with total project cost is Rp 605,734,138. In addition to 2 hours of overtime work, the project's total duration can be reduced to 54 days with a total project cost Rp 606,803,619. And for the addition of 3 hours overtime, the total duration can be shortened to 54 days with a total cost of Rp 606,803,619. As for increasing the number of workers, project work duration can be shortened to 54 working days with a total project cost Rp 604,556,748
