Redefining the Concept of Advertising in Romanian: Between Need and Reality

Advertising is an undisputed reality of the contemporary world, being a form of communication present both in and beyond mass media. With the evolution of the society, new means of expression have emerged and determined an expansion of the range of advertising products offered for information, persuasion and, why not, for enjoyment. However, as advertising expanded its scope, the meanings attributed to the concept began to change and broaden at the same time. In the Romanian cultural space, this evolution of the concept, as well as the increasing presence of English in all instances of communication have led to a dynamisation of the process of defining advertising, especially due to the new meanings revealed by the definition of the concept in English. In this context, the present article aims to highlight the existence of some discrepancies between the definition of the concept and the terminology already established in Romanian, on the one hand, and to offer solutions that smooth the way to a better equivalence of the meanings assigned to the concept in the process of translating it from Romanian into English, on the other hand. Considering the problem statement, our own observations and the data collected from the online survey carried out among the students pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, two definitions of the Romanian concepts of publicitate and reclamă are put forth in order to bridge the conceptual gap existing in the Romanian cultural space.

Komunikasi interpersonal antar mahasiswa ntt dengan mahasiswa lain daerah di fakultas ilmu komunikasi universitas dr. Soetomo surabaya

Through interpersonal communication, a person can convey what is in the mind's mind to others both directly and indirectly. As is the case with students from NTT with other students in the area at the University of Dr. Soetomo in particular the Faculty of Communication Sciences. By trying to communicate with other students, of course they have various ways or communication that must be done. The purpose of this study is to describe and explain the interpersonal communication of NTT students with other regional students at the University of Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. The research method used in this research is descriptive using qualitative research approaches. From the results of research conducted, it is known the interpersonal communication stage of NTT students with other regional students at the University of Dr. Soetomo Surabaya, where an individual is in the social and cultural life of others so that the concept of adjustment that must be done by NTT students comes when communicating. The process of individual experiences in interpersonal communication with others makes thoughts, self, and emotions on the topic of communication that will cause socio-cultural conditions between individuals with other individuals different meanings.

Dimensione corporea emozionale nell'atto comunicativo : come le emozioni contribuiscono al messaggio

The intent of this paper is to analyze the contribution of emotions, as an act of nonverbal communication, to sensemaking. Actually, the focus of our analysis is not on the psychology of emotions but rather on the semantics and pragmatics of facial expressions, which encode emotions and/or the state of mind, and how facial expressions communicate meaningfully. To study this empirically, an advertisement of the Swiss bank CLER, whose message is completely based on nonverbal communication, was presented to 20 students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). The qualitative analysis of the acquired data shows how the bodily expressions of emotions, called affect displays (Ekman & Friesen 1969), transport directly, effectively and efficiently a meaning.

Tindakan vandalisme di Perpustakaan Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Padjadjaran

The library is prone to vandalism towards library collections. The Faculty of Communication Sciences library as a university library often experiences vandalism, ranging from labeling, tearing up, page folding, delay in returning books, and loss of books. This study aimed to determine the cognitive aspects of the sub-variables of knowledge and understanding of users on the act of vandalism in the Library of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University. The research method used descriptive survey method through a quantitative approach. This study included 121 respondents consisting of students of Faculty of Communication Sciences, class of 2015 who were selected using simple random sampling technique with distribution of respondent composition: Public Relations 10 respondents, Communication Sciences 47 respondents, Information and Library Science 22 respondents, Journalism 16 respondents, Communication Management 18 respondents, and TV and Film 8 respondents. Study results showed that the cognitive aspects of the users in the act of vandalism were in the category of high and favorable, the users had knowledge and understanding which supported according to the statement about the attitude proposed against acts of vandalism. Based on knowledge indicators, data obtained showed respondents did not agree with vandalism act, while based on the indicators of understanding, data obtained showed respondents agree that vandalism could harm the library users. Overall, the attitude of users is in the favorable category meaning that library users support disagreement on vandalism in the Library of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University.

Violencia y universidad en la República Argentina

El presente trabajo analiza el tema de la violencia en la Universidad argentina durante las dos últimas dictaduras del siglo XX, haciendo hincapié en lo ocurrido en los claustros de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, cuando ellos estuvieron inmersos en graves conflictos que se sintieron particularmente en la Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades, en la de Arquitectura y en la entonces Escuela de Ciencias de la Información dependiente de la Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Sociales (hoy Facultad de Ciencias de la Comunicación) y en uno de sus colegios: el Manuel Belgrano. Se sabe que cientos de personas fueron desaparecidas y otras tantas pasaron por las carceles de la ciudad de Córdoba en esos años, aunque no todas provenientes de esas unidades académicas.

Instagram Story Sebagai Bentuk Self Disclosure Bagi Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember

Self disclosure is one of the keys to success of interpersonal communication. Because in self disclosure, communicators will express some things about themselves to the communicant. In this case, some of the students of the Communication Sciences of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Muhammadiyah Jember expressed themselves through the Instagram Story application feature, which Instagram is a social media which is a public space and can be seen and accessed by many people. Therefore, it is necessary to know how to use Instagram Story and how self disclosure is carried out through the Instagram Story application feature among students of the Communication Studies Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Muhammadiyah Jember University. The focus of this study was to find out how self-disclosure was carried out by students of the Communication Sciences Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Jember. To describe the focus of the study, the research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with data collection methods in the form of interviews with several 2015 Communication Studies students, class 2016, batch 2017, and batch 2018. The technique for determining the data sources that researchers use is snowball sampling, where the researcher chooses one Communication Science student who will be the key informant to then provide instructions, who are the informants from the Communication Science students who are competent to provide data. The results obtained from this study are the first, students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science Communication Study Program at Muhammadiyah Jember University always use Instagram Story every day. Some of them even share content every day to Instagram Story, some only open their accounts every day to see posts from their friends without sharing content to Instagram Story. Second, self disclosure carried out by students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Sciences Communication University of Muhammadiyah Jember is 1) Open Area, 2) Blind Area, 3) Hidden Area, 3) Unknown Area. Open areas and hidden areas are the areas most frequently carried out by informants in this study, almost all informants were included in the area. In the blind area there were only a few informants, and in unknown areas none was included, because in this area it was explained that there was information about informants that were not known to informants and even other people through Instagram Story. To explore this area, intense and intimate interactions can be carried out. However, this does not apply to self-disclosure through Instagram Story, because Instagram Story is a public space that can be seen anytime by anyone. Digital Literacy: A Survey Level Digital Literacy Competence among University Students in Jakarta

Digital Literacy Competence is not yet mastered by the people of Indonesia. Understanding of reading material and the ability to produce positive reading has not been successfully implemented. The purpose of the study was to analyze the influence of parental roles on digital literacy competencies of the students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Mercu Buana. The concept of Interpersonal Communication by DeVito (2013) was used in this study. The role of the family can be classified into four, namely: (1) modeling; (2) mentoring; (3) organizing, and (4) teaching. Through survey methods and data analysis techniques with correlation and impact testing, the results of the study show that the role of parents has an influence on digital literacy competencies. The role of parents as models, mentors, organizers and instructors in educating and raising their children is highly recognized by their children. Meanwhile, the role of parents has not had a maximum effect on improving student literacy digital competencies.

THE EDUCATION OF PUBLIC RELATIONS STUDENTS ON PUBLIC RELATIONS THEORIES: AN INVESTIGATION ON THE CURRICULUM OF PUBLIC RELATIONS DEPARTMENTS OF COMMUNICATION FACULTIES IN TURKEY

Halkla ilişkiler, iletişim yönetimini temel aldığı için teorik çalışmalardan ve araştırmaya dayalı uygulamalardan geniş ölçüde yararlanması gereken bir sosyal bilim alanıdır. Teoriler, halkla ilişkilerin bilimsel bir zemine yerleştirilmesine; bu alanda çalışmak, alanı geliştirebilmek ve öngörüde bulunabilmek için akademisyenlerin ve halkla ilişkiler uygulayıcılarının ihtiyaç duyduğu söz dağarcığının sağlanmasına olanak sağlar. Halkla ilişkiler alanında teorilerden yararlanmak, rasyonel paradigmalar çerçevesinde doğru hedeflerin saptanmasına, etkili stratejilerin ve taktiklerin ortaya konarak faaliyetlerin başarılı bir biçimde gerçekleştirilmesine imkân tanır. Bu çalışmada, teknolojik gelişmelerin hız kazandığı dijital devrim çağında, üst yönetimin daha iyi karar verebilmesi için kuruluşun içinde bulunduğu ortamın iyi analiz edilmesi, algılanması; farklı koşullar altında başarılı olmak için farklı strateji ve taktiklerden yararlanılması yönünde bir anlayışı vurgulayan bu açıdan her yerde ve durumda geçerli tek bir organizasyon yapısı ve yönetim şekli olmadığını ortaya koyan durumsallık yaklaşımının halkla ilişkiler alanıyla ilişkisi irdelenmektedir. Çalışmada ayrıca, Türkiye’deki iletişim fakültelerinin halkla ilişkiler bölümlerinin örgün öğretim lisans ders programlarında halkla ilişkiler teorilerini konu alan derslere ne ölçüde yer verildiği ortaya konulmaktadır. Araştırmanın evrenini, Türkiye’de, bünyesinde iletişim fakültesi yer alan tüm üniversitelerin oluşturduğu bu çalışmada, halkla ilişkiler ve tanıtım bölümüne sahip olan iletişim fakülteleri örneklem olarak belirlenmiştir. Nitel veri analiz türlerinden içerik analizi yöntemiyle fakültelerin web sitelerinde yer alan lisans ders programlarının analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, Türkiye’de aktif olarak faaliyet gösteren toplam 200 üniversite olduğu; söz konusu üniversitelerin 60’ında İletişim Fakültesi, 1’inde İletişim Bilimleri Fakültesi bulunduğu, İletişim Fakültesi bulunan 61 (%30,5) üniversitenin 4’ünün iletişim fakültelerinde eğitim öğretim faaliyetine başlamak için gerekli akademik kadro ve altyapı oluşturma çalışmalarının devam ettiği saptanmıştır. Aktif olan 57 iletişim fakültesi içinde aktif olarak faaliyet gösteren 46 (%80,7) “halkla ilişkiler” bölümünün mevcut olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bağlı bulundukları fakülte bazında aktif bir şekilde faaliyet gösteren 46 halkla ilişkiler bölümünün 9’unun (%19,5) halkla ilişkiler bölümlerinin ders programlarında halkla ilişkiler teorilerini konu alan derslerin mevcut olduğu ortaya konmuştur. Globalization and technological development has impact on competition for the excellence in all aspects of life, including in the field of education. Education is the main basis of a nation’s strategy to rise from adversity. Bandung Islamic University (Unisba) is one option for parents who not only consider about quality, but also prioritize the application of good religious values. Indeed, the axiom of good student output in the future is closely related to good values, good skills and a good attitude. The ultimate goal of Islamic Education is the emergence of moral guidance, so that it is appropriate to strengthen religious values in Fikom Unisba. This research is related to the efforts to strengthen the religious values carried out by the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Unisba which is use a qualitative approach. The subject of this study was Dr. O. Hasbiansyah as the Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Unisba. Management of religious values instilled in the Faculty of Communication in every aspects. Starting from the curriculum, human resources (lecturer, education staff, and students), as well as the work environment (setting). This is makes Islamic values inseparable from work and service. All of them are integrated in one system, in order to create strenghtening of value as the common goal.

The utilization of search engines by students of the Library and Information Science Program at Universitas Padjadjaran

Search engines have become an integral part of student learning activities. This study aims to see how the use of search engines by students, especially by students of the Library and Information Science Program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. This study uses the mixed method. The research data was obtained through questionnaires, in-depth interviews, observations and literature studies. The results of the study showed that in learning activities, the respondents used search engines to find the references for college assignments and thesis writing material. The students also use search engines to meet daily information needs, solve problems, increase knowledge, reduce doubts, clarify things, entertain, fulfill curiosity about others, etc. The retrieval technique used by students is by using keywords/queries, Boolean logic, query strategies in the form of a brief search and using the advanced search feature. This research is expected to contribute to the university in supporting online-based learning facilities for students.

Internet and learning resources: a case study of the Library and Information Science Students at Universitas Padjadjaran

Student learning and reading activities today cannot be separated from internet media. This study aims to determine the benefits of information retrieval systems, the positive impacts and negative impacts of internet use and learning activities, especially those related to the student reading activities in the internet era. This study uses a case study approach with purposive sampling by selecting 20 students of class 2014 from the Library and Information Science Program of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran as the research informants. Data collection techniques were obtained through in-depth interviews, observation and literature review. The results showed that the internet became the primary source of information for most students of the Library and Information Science Program at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. However, they still assume that the credibility of printed information sources is stronger than online information sources. This can be seen from printed books or online and electronic sources which become the results of the form of printed books being the main reference for the college assignments which are considered to be done more seriously by the informants.

Voto blanco y nulo de estudiantes de una universidad peruana en las elecciones generales de Perú de 2016

El estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la tendencia al voto en blanco y nulo en estudiantes de la Universidad San Martín de Porres, en las elecciones generales de Perú de 2016. La investigación de enfoque cualitativo, método inductivo y con diseño de estudio de casos, tuvo como muestra a 10 estudiantes del V ciclo Facultad de Ciencias de la Comunicación, Turismo y Psicología de la Universidad San Martin de Porres, a quienes se realizó entrevistas en profundidad. Los resultados dieron a conocer que la tendencia al voto en blanco y nulo fue consecuencia de una reacción de los estudiantes ante la trayectoria de los actores políticos, interpretada como negativa; las acciones de los partidos políticos y sus candidatos generaron el distanciamiento del electorado joven. En conclusión, los estudiantes votaron en blanco o nulo para expresar su descontento con los partidos políticos y candidatos participantes, e ignoran la normativa electoral respecto los votos en blanco y nulo.

The study responds to the need to reinforce social skills advanced students in communication sciences as an important factor for their profesional development. Quasi-experimental design research had the objective of showing the influence of the application of the educational module socialize in advanced social skills of students of the second and third semester of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Universidad Nacional del Centro del Peru from Huancayo in 2016. It was a sample to 30 students in the experimental group and 30 students in the control group; in the experimental group applied the educational module socialize,designed for research; advanced social skills questionnaire, designed for research was used as instrument of collection of data in the pre test and post test. The results showed that in the pre test, there are no significant differences between the averages of the advanced social skills in the experimental and control groups (T=0,29 and p=0,773); it was evident that, in the post test, there are significant differences between the average of the experimental and control groups advanced social skills,favorable to the experimental group (T=13,93 and p=0). The investigation concluded that you influence educational module socialize in advanced social skills of students in the second and third semester of the faculty of communication sciences, was significant.

Conductas de búsqueda de información en Internet en estudiantes universitarios de Comunicación Social en Ecuador

Este artículo presenta los resultados de un estudio piloto realizado en la Facultad Ciencias de la Comunicación de una universidad de Ecuador, cuyos objetivos fueron describir las conductas de búsqueda de información en Internet de los estudiantes, evaluar su nivel de conocimiento de las TIC e identificar el factor motivacional que les lleva a realizar investigaciones científicas. Se trata de un estudio de enfoque cuantitativo, con alcance descriptivo y de tipo transversal. En una primera fase, se aplicó un cuestionario a una muestra de 60 alumnos para medir su conocimiento de las TIC y otro para conocer los factores que les motivaban a investigar. Posteriormente, se realizaron sesiones de navegación y búsqueda de información en Internet, con 20 estudiantes voluntarios. El diario del investigador sirvió para tomar apuntes de lo observado mientras los alumnos realizaban las tareas de búsqueda. Los resultados de la investigación muestran que el conocimiento de la mayoría de alumnos sobre las TIC es básico o intermedio. El factor que predomina como motivación para investigar es el de formar un hábito personal y contribuir a una cultura de investigación en su entorno. Sobre las conductas de búsqueda de los estudiantes se centran exclusivamente en el acceso a la información sin evaluar su calidad y su origen. Hacen búsquedas simples y como criterio emplean el lenguaje natural. Escogen los tres primeros resultados que les reporta el buscador y copian los textos textualmente obviando el proceso de referenciado. No realizan procesos de análisis o síntesis

Perilaku Pemrosesan Informasi melalui Media Sosial dalam Memenuhi Kebutuhan Informasi Mahasiswa

This study focuses on the use of social media in fulfilling information needs by students of the Da'wah and Communication Sciences Faculty at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This study uses Information Seeking theory applied by Wilson. According to Wilson, the information needs as a consequence of a need felt by information users who expect their needs to be fulfilled, then search for information through sources and information services which result in success or failure to find information and choose to use that information or make comparisons information that has been found before. The research method used is quantitative descriptive and questionnaire as a data collection technique. From the results of questionnaires to 93 respondents consisting of 2015, 2016 and 2017 Da'wah and Communication Faculty Students, it was found that the level of information processing behavior through social media in meeting information needs by Da'wah and Communication Sciences students was hight.

It is published twice a year with the support of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHS).SComS aims to build bridges between different research cultures, and publishes high-quality original articles in English, German, French, and Italian. As a general forum for communication scholarship, the journal is especially interested in research that crosses disciplinary boundaries.

KAJIAN SITASI KARYA ILMIAH DOSEN FIKOM UNPAD DALAM SKRIPSI MAHASISWA: ANALISIS SITASI KARYA ILMIAH DOSEN DALAM SKRIPSI MAHASISWA PADA DATABASE GDL DI FIKOM LIBRARY AND KNOWLEDGE CENTER (FLKC) UNIVERSITAS PADJADJARAN PADA SEMESTER GENAP TAHUN 2011

This study aims to determine the citation analysis of scientific papers of undergraduate theses of students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, University of Padjadjaran during the Even Semester of the Academic Year 2011. This study aims to determine the characteristics (shape, author / sources, language) which are frequently cited in scientific papers, publications of source of information, the frequency of citations of scientific papers and the development of Communication Information Science and Library Studies based on distribution subject of the cited references. The population studied is 227 titles of undergraduate theses from 4 departments (Journalism, Public Relations, Management Communication & Library and Information Science). The population consists of 7089 citations. The results showed that the students appear to scientific papers from the Faculty of Communication’s lecturers. Especially those published in book form. The scientific papers of the Faculty of Communication’s lecturers are not yet cited in proper proportion. Besides that, there are students who still cite from private blogs. In general, student’s skill to cite is still below standard. The study recommended the socialization of scientific products of Faculty of Communication’s lecturers. A guide to standardization of bibliography writing is highly recommended.

HUBUNGAN PERILAKU PENCARIAN INFORMASI PEREMPUAN DENGAN KEBUTUHAN FASHION

This article analyzes about women’s information seeking behavior with fashion needs. The aim of the research is to recognize the information seeking behavior of woman for fashion needs, at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Padjajaran University. The paradigm of this study is post-positivism with a quantitative approach. The method used is correlational with Pearson’s product-moment correlation statistic test. The population of this study are 92 people with accidental sampling technique. The result of this study concludes that the information seeking behavior of women is moderately related with fashion needs. The constantly developing fashion needs requires woman to search for information which will later form an information seeking behavior based on the intensity of media use.

Videotutoriales y códigos QR: recursos TIC en laboratorios de Ciencias de la Comunicación

El uso de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) como herramientas de enseñanza se ha consolidado como una alternativa dentro y fuera del aula que permite el desarrollo de procesos de aprendizaje significativo y colaborativo y en los que se da una mayor interacción entre el estudiante y el objeto de estudio. A partir de esta premisa, un grupo de profesores de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Comunicación de la Universidad de Málaga han puesto en marcha un proyecto de innovación educativa consistente en la realización de vídeotutoriales sobre los distintos equipos presentes en los laboratorios audiovisuales, así como de ciertas habilidades comunicativas generales útiles para la superación de asignaturas enmarcadas en los grados en Periodismo, en Publicidad y Relaciones Públicas y en Comunicación Audiovisual. Tras la realización, bajo la supervisión del tutor de la materia, de los vídeotutoriales por parte de los alumnos se les asociaron códigos QR ubicados en los equipos y en las aulas. Este artículo analiza el proceso de desarrollo de la primera fase del proyecto, así como los resultados de dos cuestionarios de detección de necesidades de aprendizaje enviados a los alumnos y al profesorado de la Facultad, en los que se revelan tanto la demanda de implementación de este tipo de metodologías por parte del alumnado, como la actitud positiva hacia su uso por parte de los docentes.

Reaction to Stress and How to Cope with it: A Case at Anadolu University

Individuals, who spend an important part of their lives on education, are inevitably exposed to stress when they begin undertaking more responsibilities and getting anxious about their future lives after ending their education lives. In other words, one can easily observe the symptoms of stress in individuals’ personal lives as soon as their school lives come to an end. In this respect, in order to obtain information about students’ thoughts regarding stress and about the mechanisms they use to cope with stress, the present study was conducted with students attending Anadolu University. In the study, a questionnaire was applied to a total of 600 students from such faculties of Anadolu University Faculty of Communication Sciences, Literature Faculty, Education Faculty, School of Physical Education and Sports, and Faculty of Pharmacy in the academic year of 2016-2017. Among all these students, 587 of them responded to the questionnaire. In the study, the purpose was to determine the students’ views about the mechanisms they use or avoid using under stress, about their coping with stress and about the causes of their stress. In line with their responses, the findings were examined under related dimensions, and the relationship between the most frequent defense mechanisms and the response categories was tested using Pearson Correlation. In addition, Cochran Q test was applied whether there was a significant relationship between the most frequent defense mechanisms of reaction formation and spoilt reaction, the rationalist approach and the fanciful approach. Consequently, there were significant relationships between the response categories, and significant relationships were found between certain defense mechanisms.
