The Factors of Perception of Images of Chinese Images in Transbaikalie

The article is devoted to the theme connected with population mentality aspects' investigation, which exists under conditions of Russian-Chinese transboundary relations at the territory of Transbaikalie. The author reveals the essence of such notions as, «mentality of Transbaikal citizens» and «mythological image»; he also investigates the peculiarities of perception of Chinese images and image of China by mass consciousness of non-Chinese peoples of this transboundary region. The aim and novelty of the work is defined by the fact that it is the first attempt of complex investigation of the phenomenon mythology study in respect to China at the territory of Transbaikalie. The author's allocation of the main construction and reproduction factors of mythological Chinese images spreading is the result of the work. The author suggests the phenomenon «culture boundaries of China» as an aspect of Chinese culture influence, which not only creates an obstacle, but simultaneously serves the point of contact between different nations, cultures and languages, creating thereby an active zone of mythology study on China.

Integrated travel network model for studying epidemics: Interplay between journeys and epidemic.

The ease of travelling between cities has contributed much to globalization. Yet, it poses a threat on epidemic outbreaks. It is of great importance for network science and health control to understand the impact of frequent journeys on epidemics. We stress that a new framework of modelling that takes a traveller’s viewpoint is needed. Such integrated travel network (ITN) model should incorporate the diversity among links as dictated by the distances between cities and different speeds of different modes of transportation, diversity among nodes as dictated by the population and the ease of travelling due to infrastructures and economic development of a city, and round-trip journeys to targeted destinations via the paths of shortest travel times typical of human journeys. An example is constructed for 116 cities in China with populations over one million that are connected by high-speed train services and highways. Epidemic spread on the constructed network is studied. It is revealed both numerically and theoretically that the traveling speed and frequency are important factors of epidemic spreading. Depending on the infection rate, increasing the traveling speed would result in either an enhanced or suppressed epidemic, while increasing the traveling frequency enhances the epidemic spreading.

Socioeconomic nature of terrorism

In the article, the theoretical and methodological foundations of investigation of the socioeconomic nature of terrorism are considered. Hypothesis of research is the existence of methodological criteria of territory classification on the basis of external and internal terrorism. On the basis of the analysis of theoretical works of national and foreign authors, normative documents of state and international level the genesis of approaches to the understanding of the essence of modern terrorism, its contents, the subject-object relations and manifestation forms is received. As the result, according to the authors’ definition “terrorism†is understood as an ideology connected with deliberate violence or threats against the civilian population or property to influence on the government or the interstate organizations. In the work, the factors of development and spreading of terrorism in the Russian Federation’s regions are allocated and quantitatively proved. Weight parameters of the specified factors are determined. The methodological differentiation of the specified factors on factors of terrorism external (attacks from the outside) and an internal form (distribution and realization of radical ideas within the region in the territory) is the distinctive feature of the conducted research. During the research, the cluster analysis of a region is carried out to distribute of Russia’s regions according to the typological characteristic of the region of internal and external terrorism. The obtained data are verified in accordance with empirical data, the hypothesis of the existence of methodological criteria of the region classification on the basis of external and internal terrorism is proved.

Experimental Simulation on Oil Gas Spreading in the Complex Confined Spaces

Abstract In the process of mass production, usage, transport and storage of petroleum products, it would be occurred any time that the oil products leak to generate oil gas spreading which leads to serious accidents in fire and explosion safety. The cause and damage extent of oil gas explosion hazards in a confined space is not only limited to ambient temperature, humidity and other environmental conditions, but also depends on the speed, extent and concentration distribution of the oil gas spreading. In this paper, the special phenomenon, spreading law, the characteristic parameter and the main influencing factors of oil gas spreading in the complex confined spaces are studied and analyzed from the simulation experiments. The results show that the oil gas spreading process in the complex confined spaces can be divided into three stages, namely, the gravity settling stage, adherent diffusion stage and passive mass transfer stage. Many factors, such as the cross–section shape, wall roughness, ratio between length and diameter and so on, will directly affect the oil gas spreading in the complex confined space. The oil gas concentration in the outlet can reach up to about 51.28% of that in the inlet. Meanwhile, the oil gas concentration of the leakage source has great impact on the spreading process, and higher concentration will accelerate the spreading process.

Construction of index system for external risk factors of disease on large-scale farm based on the analytic hierarchy process

Animal health risk analysis technology on large-scale farm is becoming more important, but the assessment of relevant external risk factors of disease spreading into pig farm is an complex multi-dimensional process. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been accepted as a robust and flexible multi-criteria decision-making tool for dealing with complex decision problems. On this study, The index system of external risk factors on large-scale farm is built based on AHP. The result shows that farm management practices, Biosecurity and site are major risk factors and reveals AHP can be used in animal risk analysis for disease control and prevention.

Geometrical spreading factor of head waves in cased and open boreholes

Factors (coefficients) of geometrical spreading of compressional and shear head waves are calculated for an impulse multipole source of elastic oscillations in boreholes. It is shown that the length of the logging tool (i.e., the distance between the source and the nearest receiver) used for sonic measurements and the velocities of elastic waves in the medium both contribute to the factor of geometrical spreading. For a high-velocity formation (the shear wave velocity in the rock is higher than the compressional wave velocity in the fluid that fills the borehole) and a sufficiently long sonic tool with a monopole source, the coefficient of geometrical spreading is approximated by asymptotic formula 1/Z [Roever et al., 1974; Krauklis and Krauklis, 1976], where Z is the length of the tool; i.e., the amplitude of the compressional head wave decreases proportionally to the distance between the source and the receiver. In acoustically soft formations, this approximation is inapplicable even for long tools with length Z > 4 m. Waveforms in cased boreholes have a significant frequency dispersion even in case of good-quality cementing, and the factor of geometrical spreading there depends considerably on the length of the tool and the elastic properties of the rocks.

Rumor spreading model with consideration of forgetting mechanism: A case of online blogging LiveJournal

Rumor is an important form of social interaction, and its spreading has a significant impact on people’s lives. In the age of Web, people are using electronic media more frequently than ever before, and blog has become one of the main online social interactions. Therefore, it is essential to learn the evolution mechanism of rumor spreading on homogeneous network in consideration of the forgetting mechanism of spreaders. Here we study a rumor spreading model on an online social blogging platform called LiveJournal. In comparison with the Susceptible–Infected–Removed (SIR) model, we provide a more detailed and realistic description of rumor spreading process with combination of forgetting mechanism and the SIR model of epidemics. A mathematical model has been presented and numerical solutions of the model were used to analyze the impact factors of rumor spreading, such as the average degree, forgetting rate and stifling rate. Our results show that there exist a threshold of the average degree of LiveJournal and above which the influence of rumor reaches saturation. Forgetting mechanism and stifling rate exert great influence on rumor spreading on online social network. The analysis results can guide people’s behaviors in view of the theoretical and practical aspects.

Application of Ultrasonic Wave and Resistograph for Nondestructive Testing of Defects in Standing Trees

In order to carry out non-destructive testing on standing trees, explore the propagation characteristics and the influence factors of the ultrasonic wave spreading in the standing trees. Take simon poplar as the research object, Resistograph were employed to test 30 sample (simon polar) standing trees and it gave a preliminary estimate of the internal defects in the samples, and RSM-SYS5 ultrasonic device were employed to test the ultrasonic propagation velocity spreading in simon poplar standing trees, with the statistics of the ultrasonic propagation velocity spreading separately in the health trees and standing trees with defects, and did a regression analysis of the relationship between the size of the defacts and the ultrasonic propagation velocity. The results show that: 1) When the diameter of sample trees are between 30 and 55cm, the radial velocity of ultrasonic spreading in healthy simon poplar standing trees are in the range of 1029.96m/s ~ 1200m/s, all more than 1000m/s; however, when there are defects in simon poplar standing trees, the ultrasonic radial velocity are less than 1000m/s. 2) The defacts in standing trees have an significant influence on the ultrasonic radial propagation velocity spreading in simon poplar standing trees, defect size and the radial velocity is significantly negatively correlated, and the correlation coefficient R is 0.887.

Statistical Analysis of Fire Spread to Adjacent Buildings in Urban Districts

We must put out the fire which is not yet ready for growth, if we want not to make it a big fire. So we must know the conditions to suppress a fire spreading to adjacent buildings. Now we study many building fire spreading to the neighbourhood in urban districts of Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe Area. Then, we explain primary factors of spreading by Hayashi’s quantification scaling type 1 and 2. Consequently, we indicate the importance to keep urban districts in repare and change the basic formula of relations between velocity of extending fire and urban conditions.
