The influence of job enrichment on job embeddedness and sick presenteeism among nurses.

To understand how job enrichment influences job embeddedness and sick presenteeism among nurses. Job satisfaction and retention are critical issues in healthcare, particularly among nurses. Job enrichment has been identified as a potential strategy to enhance job satisfaction and reduce turnover rates. Understanding its impact on job embeddedness and sick presenteeism can inform policies to improve nurse well-being and organizational effectiveness. A cross-sectional descriptive design following STROBE guidelines was used. Data were collected from 360 nurses working in critical care units of a large university hospital. Three scales were used to measure job enrichment, job embeddedness, and sick presenteeism. Nurses reported high job enrichment and embeddedness levels. However, a significant proportion also exhibited high levels of sick presenteeism. Strong positive correlations existed between job enrichment, job embeddedness, and sick presenteeism. Regression analyses revealed that job enrichment significantly predicted job embeddedness and sick presenteeism. The findings highlight the complex interplay between job characteristics, organizational commitment, and employee health behaviors among nurses. Job enrichment emerged as a critical factor influencing job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and sick presenteeism. The study underscores the need for health policies that promote job enrichment strategies, as they can contribute to nurse retention, reduce sick presenteeism, and enhance productivity in healthcare settings. Nurse retention and job satisfaction can be improved by implementing job enrichment practices in healthcare organizations. Policies to reduce sick presenteeism should prioritize creating healthier work environments and promoting employee well-being. Understanding the cost-effectiveness and productivity gains associated with job enrichment can inform workforce planning and staffing policies, ensuring adequate nurse staffing levels and quality patient care.

Mediating Effect of Psychological Empowerment Between Perceived Organizational Support and Job Satisfaction Among Engineers in Malaysia

Objective: This research study aims to examine the factors influencing job satisfaction among engineers in Malaysia manufacturing industry. The factors consist of direct compensation, job security, perceived organizational support and mediating role of psychological empowerment. Theoretical Framework: The Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Herzberg’s two-factor theories were employed in the research and interpret the findings. Method: A quantitative research method was employed to examine the relationships between variables through survey collected from respondents that working in various manufacturing firms across Malaysia. The study utilized a structured questionnaire distributed among 384 respondents via digital platform such as Google questionnaires. This study employed convenient sampling method to ensure representation across different manufacturing sectors. The cross-sectional approach was utilized to capture a snapshot of job satisfaction and its causes at a particular point in time, reflecting current attitudes and influences in Malaysia's manufacturing industry. The data collected will be analyzed using SPSS software for both the pilot test and data analysis. Pearson Correlation, Multiple Regression and PROCESS macro will use to examine the significant relationships between variables and hypothesized relationships. Results and Discussion: The findings show that there are strong positive relationship between direct compensation, job security, perceived organizational support and job satisfaction among engineers. Also, psychological empowerment was revealed as a key mediator to strengthening the link between perceived organizational support and job satisfaction. Research Implications: The results hold practical implications for organizational management and policymakers seeking to increase job satisfaction among engineers. The recommendations include fair and competitive wage structures, ensuring job security through transparent recruiting procedures, creating supportive organizational climates and empowering people to increase job satisfaction.

Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction of Healthcare Workers at Bhayangkara Level III Hospital in Kendari City

Job satisfaction is a subjective experience influenced by individual values and personal perspectives. The greater the alignment between a job and a person's aspirations, the more happiness they are likely to feel. This research aims to identify the factors influencing job satisfaction among healthcare workers at Bhayangkara Tk. III Hospital in Kendari City in 2024. A cross-sectional survey method will be employed, with the research conducted from January to February 2024. The study population consists of 204 people, with a sample size of 135 healthcare workers selected through purposive sampling. The criteria for participation are active employment and willingness to be respondents. Data will be analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate methods. The results indicate that salary and incentives significantly affect job satisfaction. The work environment, workload, leadership recognition, and work motivation also have significant impacts on job satisfaction. In conclusion, Bhayangkara Tk. III Hospital must improve its incentive policies and workload management to enhance the motivation and satisfaction of its healthcare workers. Further studies with additional variables and more diverse methodologies are recommended to deepen the understanding of factors affecting job satisfaction in this sector.

Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction Among Food Service Employees In Terengganu, Malaysia

In the dynamic and competitive landscape of the food service industry, employee job satisfaction is a pivotal factor influencing organizational success. In Terengganu, Malaysia, where the culinary sector is both a cultural cornerstone and a significant economic contributor, understanding the nuances that affect job satisfaction among food service employees is crucial. This study aims to determine the influence of salary, working hours, and working environment on employee satisfaction towards a job at a food service establishment in Terengganu, Malaysia. The researchers collected 337 completed questionnaires after distributing an online survey to participants. The descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, and Pearson correlation were analyzed to produce pertinent information. It found that all factors, salary (r=.555), working hours (r=.631), and working environment (r=.778), were positively related to employee job satisfaction. The Cronbach's Alpha for the factors influencing job satisfaction among food service employees in Terengganu, Malaysia, was a range of 0.938, which indicates excellent internal consistency reliability. By identifying and analyzing these factors, this research aims to provide actionable insights for foodservice businesses to enhance their human resource strategies, thereby fostering a more motivated and efficient workforce.

Assessment of Job Satisfaction and Associated Factors Among Health Professionals Working at Public Hospitals in Arsi Zone, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia/2021

<i>Background</i>: Job satisfaction encompasses the array of attitudes that employees hold towards their work. Various factors influence job satisfaction, including salaries, benefits, allowances, pension funds, working hours, and the level of respect received in the workplace. In Ethiopia, approximately 50% of nurses employed in public health facilities express dissatisfaction, citing reasons such as lack of motivation, inadequate salary, limited training opportunities, and insufficient human resources. <i>Objective</i>: This study aimed to evaluate job satisfaction and its determinants among health professionals working in public primary hospitals in Arsi Zone, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia in 2021. <i>Methods</i>: An institutional-based cross-sectional study design was utilized, involving 207 health professionals selected systematically from public primary hospitals in Arsi Zone. Data were cleaned, coded, entered into EpiData 7, and analyzed using SPSS version 21. Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify statistically significant associations between dependent and independent variables and to predict factors influencing job satisfaction. <i>Results</i>: The study revealed that 71 (35.3%) health professionals expressed agreement that they would choose the same career if given the chance again. While 60 (29.9%) respondents perceived personal growth in their work, 124 (61.7%) did not experience any personal development. A majority of participants (78.1%) reported having adequate opportunities for professional growth, with 125 (62.1%) indicating satisfaction in their profession. Multivariate analysis identified age, work experience, and income as significant factors influencing job satisfaction among health professionals. <i>Conclusions and Recommendations</i>: The study found an overall low level of job satisfaction among health professionals. Age, work experience, and average monthly income emerged as key factors affecting job satisfaction in this group. The government should implement effective policies addressing all determinants of job satisfaction, improve payment structures, create conducive work environments, recognize achievements, and establish mechanisms for remote retention of staff. Hospital administrators should enhance work conditions, increase rewards, and prioritize the professional development of employees to boost staff job satisfaction.

Current Status of Hospitalist Practice and Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction in Korea.

Although the roles and responsibilities of hospitalists have grown considerably in recent years, research on the current job status and satisfaction levels of Korean hospitalists is lacking. We investigate the present state of Korean hospitalists and the factors influencing their job satisfaction 6 years after the pilot program's launch. This cross-sectional analysis was based on an online survey conducted from January 30 to February 18, 2023. Korean hospitalists (N = 303) MAIN MEASURES: The survey encompassed participant demographics, hospital information, education, clinical practice, research involvement, and job satisfaction. We employed multiple logistic regression analyses to identify determinants of satisfaction as a hospitalist. The analysis was based on 79 hospitalists' responses (response rate 26%). Respondents had a median age of 39 years; approximately half were male internal medicine specialists, possessing over 3 years of hospitalist experience. Most respondents were interested in clinical work (94.4%), with only 21.5% interested in research and evidence-based medicine. Over two-thirds indicated that non-clinical duties occupied less than 20% of their time. Overall, job satisfaction among hospitalists averaged 51.9%. Notably, the availability of a research mentor was significantly associated with job satisfaction (P = .011). While hospitalists with more than 3 years of experience, more hospitalists per facility, and autonomy were associated with increased job satisfaction, these associations were not statistically significant. Furthermore, there was no association between night shift work, work type, or work hours and job satisfaction. Although Korean hospitalists primarily focus on clinical practice, our study underscores the positive impact of mentorship from research mentors on job satisfaction, supported by comprehensive univariate and multivariate analyses. These findings signal a progressive transformation in the role of Korean hospitalists, as they increasingly engage in research alongside patient care.

Evaluating the influence of work environment on job satisfaction: Data analysis in the banking sector using structural equation modeling

In today's rapidly evolving work environment, understanding the intricate web of factors influencing job satisfaction is paramount to fostering employee well-being and organizational success. This research employs structural equation modeling (SEM) to analyze the effects of various workplace factors on job satisfaction in the organizational context of the banking sector in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. This study examined the relationships between job satisfaction and career growth and development, motivation, and compensation, the nature of the job, quality of work life (QWL) factors, relationships and support, safety and welfare, and work factors. This study analyzed the relationships among job satisfaction, employee engagement, internal branding, and emotional commitment in the banking industry. The findings reveal that internal branding directly impacts employee engagement, job satisfaction, and commitment. Employee engagement positively affects job satisfaction and affective commitment, with job satisfaction mediating the relationship between employee engagement and affective commitment. Furthermore, internal branding directly affects job satisfaction and emotional commitment. Investments in internal branding can enhance job satisfaction, employee engagement, and commitment. The study establishes construct reliability and validity, including discriminant validity. The analysis also explored the mediating role of QWL factors in these relationships. The findings indicate that specific workplace factors significantly impact job satisfaction, with QWL factors mediating some of these effects. This research offers valuable insights for organizations pursuing improved employee job satisfaction and well-being.

Factors influencing job satisfaction and professional competencies in clinical practice among internationally educated nurses during the migration journey: Amixed-methods systematic review.

The increasing migration of internationally educated nurses (IENs) from developing to developed countries highlights the importance of implementing integration strategies that facilitate their workplace transition, leading to improved job satisfaction and professional competence. The mixed-methods systematic review aimed to synthesise the current literature on factors influencing job satisfaction and professional competencies among IENs throughout their transition process, including the pre-migration, migration, and post-migration periods. This study conducted a mixed-methods systematic review from 2013 to 2023, using the CINAHL, Scopus, and PubMed databases and employing a Population, Interventions, Comparisons, Outcomes (PICO) framework. Quality assessment employed the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT), and data analysis followed a convergent parallel design. Data synthesis was presented narratively, and the literature review adhered to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Out of 565 articles, eleven studies (eight qualitative, two quantitative, and one mixed-method) met the inclusion criteria. Three key themes that influenced job satisfaction and professional competencies among IENs were identified: pre-migration and pre-deployment demands, challenges in workplace integration, and post-migration career challenges and retention strategies. The study primarily focused on IENs recruited from developing countries, potentially limiting the generalisability of the findings to IENs from other regions or countries. Furthermore, the inclusion of nurses from developed countries who also migrated was limited in the available studies, which further restricts the applicability of the research findings. It is essential to reconsider the pre-migration language requirements and evaluate the feasibility of completing them during the integration period to enhance the job satisfaction and professional competencies of IENs. Additionally, key factors for improving job satisfaction among IENs include providing personalised support, addressing managerial barriers, facilitating career advancement, efficiently managing workloads, and promoting effective communication within the healthcare team.

Impact of staff training on university productivity through job satisfaction: A study of ISO 9001- certified institutions.

The study examines the influence of staff training on university productivity through the job satisfaction of academic and administrative staff in ISO 9001-certified universities in Pakistan, utilizing a quantitative research approach. Data were gathered through online surveys using purposive sampling from academic and administrative staff, with analysis performed using SmartPLS-4. The results indicate that staff training significantly influences both job satisfaction and university productivity, with job satisfaction serving as a significant mediator. This research contributes to scholarly discourse by validating Organizational Learning Theory in ISO 9001-certified universities, highlighting the enhancement of productivity and job satisfaction through ISO 9001-aligned staff training. It also underscores the influence of QMS on employee attitudes and university productivity, highlighting the significance of ISO 9001 implementation, specifically through staff training, in university operations. Practical implications include recommendations for policymakers, administrators, and quality managers to prioritize ISO 9001-focused training to boost productivity and certification success, foster a culture of continuous learning, and improve educational quality and organizational outcomes. However, limitations such as the study's cross-sectional design, purposive sampling, and focus on specific universities in Pakistan may limit generalizability. Future research should explore novel approaches to understanding factors influencing job satisfaction among academic and administrative staff to enhance productivity in ISO 9001-certified universities worldwide.

Unveiling employee perspectives: A comparative analysis of online reviews on Korean SMEs and large corporations

This study analyzes online company reviews from JobPlanet using TF-IDF analysis and LDA topic modeling to explore factors influencing job satisfaction in Korea. By comparing the reviews from employees at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large corporations on the advantages and disadvantages, it aims to gain insights into enhancing SMEs' competitiveness regarding employee job satisfaction.The analysis shows that large corporation employees valued personal growth and mutual respect but cited excessive workload as a significant drawback. SME employees appreciated smooth communication and flexible leave but noted unilateral work, long hours, and lack of shared vision. The study concludes that a horizontal organizational culture and opportunities for personal growth significantly impact job satisfaction beyond salary and benefits. SMEs can improve competitiveness by fostering a clear corporate vision, a horizontal culture, and personal growth opportunities.

DETERMINANTS OF JOB SATISFACTION AMONG EMPLOYEES AT PRIVATE HIGHER LEARNING INSTITUTION IN PERLIS: A CONCEPTUAL PAPER

This is a conceptual paper for a future study based on the review of the literature related to job satisfaction and the effect of Islamic leadership behaviour, workload and co-workers’ relationship on job satisfaction in private higher learning institutions. Job satisfaction remains among the most studied industrial and organisational psychology constructs for two main reasons. First, job satisfaction is effective in addressing employees’ absenteeism, fluctuation in production, and organizational inefficiencies, such as counter-productive behaviour and sabotage and second, job satisfaction is relevant to employees’ motivation to work and to those interested in evaluating such working conditions as task diversity, work requirements, and communications. To address these issues, this study aims to investigate the factors influencing job satisfaction; Islamic leadership behaviour, workload and co-workers’ relationship guided by the Social Exchange theory. The paper went on to analyse the issues, concepts and objectives for the forthcoming study through several literatures of various disciplines. The conceptual paper signifies to supplement literatures for academics as reference for their research. The result of this future research may provide information to the management of higher learning institutions on the factors and the preventive measures that should be taken to reduce the employees’ problems and enhancing the employees’ performance towards achieving the organizational objectives and sustainability.

Unveiling the Dynamic Landscape of Job Satisfaction: A Multi-Dimensional Analysis of Teachers in Public and Private Colleges

Workplace satisfaction plays a crucial role in enhancing job performance and overall productivity. This study aimed to investigate and compare the factors influencing job satisfaction among private and public college teachers in District Bhakkar, Punjab, Pakistan. The research focused on understanding the distinct elements contributing to job contentment within these educational sectors. The study population encompassed all private and public college teachers in District Bhakkar. A sample of 346 college instructors participated, comprising 201 from public colleges and 145 from private colleges. This quantitative research utilized a self-developed questionnaire employing a 5-point Likert scale to collect primary data. The findings revealed a notable difference in job satisfaction levels between public and private college teachers. Public college teachers reported higher levels of satisfaction in areas such as job autonomy, respect, recognition, salaries, personal growth, promotions, and job training, compared to their counterparts in private colleges. Interestingly, there was no significant disparity in job satisfaction perceptions between male and female college teachers. Based on these results, it is recommended that initiatives be undertaken by owners or management of private colleges to enhance teachers’ self-recognition, respect, job autonomy, salaries, rewards, personal growth and development opportunities, promotions, training provisions, and job security. Such measures can potentially improve overall job satisfaction among private college teachers, consequently enhancing their performance and job engagement. Job satisfaction and employee performance have become a significant research focus in management globally. It is a crucial concern for organisations to evaluate individual achievements in the context of work. Employee performance evaluation is based on their ability to execute their tasks in a way that contributes to achieving organisational goals and creates satisfaction within the scope of their work. This research applies a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology that integrates several previous studies for further analysis. Through a preliminary study, articles in reputable journals, such as the Scopus database index, were selected and compiled. The findings highlighted that employees' attitudes and performance in the work environment are influenced by their level of satisfaction with their jobs. This systematic literature review provides an up-to-date overview of job satisfaction and employee relations. In analysing 24 published articles, it was found that the main factors influencing job satisfaction include human resources, employee relations, and work environment. In addition, the articles proposed various ways to improve job satisfaction, such as performance improvement, job security, and leadership.

Self-Efficacy and Job Satisfaction of Primary School Teachers

This study presents an in-depth investigation into the predictors of job satisfaction among primary school teachers in China. The study is grounded in the theoretical framework of self-efficacy and job satisfaction theories, providing a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing job satisfaction in the unique socio-cultural context of China. The research employs a descriptive-comparative correlational research design, utilizing a comprehensive questionnaire survey to collect data from a representative sample of primary school teachers in Wuhan, China. This research conducts a comparative analysis of the renewable energy potential and job satisfaction within the energy sectors of Azerbaijan and Turkey. Drawing upon insights from discussions within this thread, the research explores the unique characteristics, challenges, and opportunities inherent in each country's energy landscape. It examines factors such as resource availability, technological advancements, policy frameworks, and workforce dynamics to provide comprehensive insights into the complex relationship between sustainable energy development and employee well-being. The research reveals that Azerbaijan and Turkey both exhibit significant renewable energy potential, encompassing diverse sources such as solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, and biomass energy. Both countries are investing in various projects to increase their future potential in the field of renewable energy. Azerbaijan plans to increase its renewable energy capacity by focusing on solar and wind energy projects. Türkiye, on the other hand, focuses on sustainable energy production with solar, wind and hydroelectric energy projects. Cooperation and joint projects between Azerbaijan and Turkey can enable more efficient use of the renewable energy potential in the region. For example, through energy trade and joint infrastructure projects, both countries can increase energy supplies and support sustainable development. While Azerbaijan's transition to renewable energy is relatively nascent, its rich fossil fuel reserves necessitate a strategic shift towards sustainable alternatives. In contrast, Turkey, amid rapid industrialization and urbanization, has prioritized the development of renewable energy sources to meet growing demands and address environmental concerns. Furthermore, the research highlights the importance of job satisfaction in fostering a resilient and motivated workforce within the energy sectors of both countries. Factors influencing job satisfaction, including compensation, career advancement opportunities, organizational culture, and work-life balance, are analyzed to identify areas for improvement and strategic interventions. Job satisfaction in nursing: A qualitative inquiry into novice and experienced nurses' perspectives

AimTo explore factors associated with job satisfaction between novice and experienced nurses. BackgroundJob satisfaction is crucial for better quality of patient care and nurses’ job engagement in clinical setting. However, job dissatisfaction is commonly reported from clinical nurses leading to poorer patient outcomes and high turnover rate. Job satisfaction at different professional stages may have different expectations. Knowledge about factors influencing job satisfaction of junior and senior nurses is inadequate. DesignA phenomenological study was conducted using face-to-face individual interviews. MethodSemi-structured interviews were conducted and audio-recorded. The Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory was used to understand the phenomena. Purposeful sampling was used to select eligible nurse participants who were working in hospital settings. ResultsEight participants, consisting of four junior and four senior nurses, with clinical experience ranging from 1 to more than 25 years, were selected in this study. Four main themes related to job satisfaction were identified: "supportive working environment," "autonomy in practice," "professional training for competence enhancement," and "heavy workload and insufficient manpower." These themes highlighted the common aspects that contribute to job satisfaction among nurses according to the Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory. ConclusionThe findings of this study contribute to our understanding of the factors that influence job satisfaction among both novice and experienced nurses. While four themes highlighting common aspects of their needs have been identified, it is important to acknowledge that novice and experienced nurses may have their own unique perspectives within these aspects. According to Herzberg's Two-Factor Theory, job satisfaction factors can be complex and diverse. To enhance job satisfaction among nurses, hospital policymakers and senior management should be attentive to identify factors that have an impact on job satisfaction of nurses at different stages of their clinical experience. Developing a strategic plan to meet the needs of nurses based on their experience levels should take into consideration the disparities in work environment and responsibilities, ultimately job satisfaction can be improved, leading to better overall patient care.

Work and Lifestyle Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction of Japanese Civil Servants: A 5-Year Longitudinal Study.

Although work, family, and lifestyle factors were associated with job satisfaction, prospective studies are lacking. This longitudinal study clarified the predisposing factors for job satisfaction. Datasets were obtained from the Japanese Civil Servants Study and included 1429 participants. We assessed the relationship between job satisfaction and specific work and lifestyle factors. Logistic regression analyses evaluated the association between deteriorating job satisfaction and poor work and lifestyle factors at baseline and changes in these factors at follow-up. Poor sleep quality and limited job control at baseline were associated with deterioration in job satisfaction. Furthermore, deterioration in job control and work-to-family conflict at follow-up was associated with job dissatisfaction. Work and lifestyle characteristics were associated with job dissatisfaction. Employees with limited job control and high work-to-family conflict at baseline were more likely to develop job dissatisfaction.

Nurses, in particular, are highly susceptible to experiencing professional burnout, which, when combined with job satisfaction, significantly affects the quality of their services. This study aimed to assess the level of job satisfaction and job burnout among nurses working in urology departments, as well as the impact of sociodemographic factors. (2) Methods: The study involved 130 nurses working in urology departments in Poland. Researchers conducted an anonymous questionnaire comprising a sociodemographic section and two standardized questionnaires: the Link Burnout Questionnaire (LBQ) and the Scale of Job Satisfaction (SSP). (3) Results: The study group demonstrated an average level of job satisfaction (17.23 points) and an average level of professional burnout, indicating potential symptoms of professional burnout such as psychophysical exhaustion (22.29 points), lack of commitment to patient relationships (20.02 points), feelings of professional ineffectiveness (17.37 points), and disappointment (19.66 points). (4) Conclusions: The levels of job satisfaction and professional burnout among nurses in urology departments are comparable to those in other departments and countries. Medical facilities should take into account factors influencing job satisfaction and the risk of professional burnout when addressing employment conditions.
