Fabrication and application of two-dimensional code slice specimen in histology

Two-dimensional code technology is widely used in daily life, and its application is rela-tively rare in medical education. Students organized write the Chinese and English slices' information by the way of extracurricular teaching activities, and two-dimensional code transformed from slices' information as label was pasted onto slice to made slice specimen with two-dimensional code. The students can quickly and accurately read the slice information by scanning the two-dimensional code. This practice can stimulate students' interest in learning and creative ability. It not only creates convenient conditions for the opening of the histology experiment and the independent study of the students, but also provides a way of thinking for the information management of the experimental teaching. This study is about the String Ensemble Learning in Extracurricular at SMK MethodistCharles Wesley Medan. The purpose of learning is to know the learning process of stringensemble extracurricular, knowing in teaching methods and materials string ensemble, knowingthe learning ability of ensembles extracurricular participant, and to identify constraints stringensemble extracurricular teaching at SMK Methodist Charles Wesley Medan.The study is based on theoretical foundation to explain the theory of learning, thelearning component, understanding ability, sense of ensemble, string ensemble understanding, andextracurricular activities.This study will take a place in Jalan Padang Golf (In), Central Business District BlockCC-DD Polonia, Medan Polonia. This study uses descriptive qualitative research, observation,interviews, documentation and literature review. The samples are part of the population that isabout to be investigated, which in this study were teachers and all students who take the stringensemble extracurricular activities are 15 students and 1 teacher.Once the entire data has been collected, then analyzed to answer all the questions ofthe study. The learning process is carried out for 60 minutes, the time used to explain the theory isa 15-minute and 45-minute practice. The implementation stage string ensemble learning studentswho take these activities are all students in both the junior high school students Methodist CharlesWesley, the high school students of Charles Wesley Methodist School, and SMK Methodist CharlesWesley were merged into a single string ensemble group.In the ensemble learning process swipe at SMK Methodist Charles Wesley Medanmaterial used is a script of classical music such as Baroque and Rokoko, Romantic, Classical andContemporary Classical. The obstacles in the form of incomplete facilities, differences in levels ofstudent proficiency, and student attendance in a regular schedule that already exists. Students canbe said to be capable of if the students can play an instrument properly, in accordance with goodtechnique, mastering the material well, and can play with a harmonious ensemble.

The Social Networks and Organization of Extracurricular Teaching of Students in the System of Higher Medical Education

The article considers problem of implementation of interactive technologies into educational environment of medical universities. The experience is considered related to usage of the social network "VKontakte" in 2015/2016 academic year and first half of 2016/2017 academic year as a platform for extracurricular activities of the student scientific research circle on history of medicine of the "The I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University". The methodological recommendations are proposed concerning organization of extracurricular activity of the student scientific research circle in social networks. The possibility of implementation of education in habitual for student youth social media environment and availability of large spectrum of technical resources assignable by "VKontakte" permit to draw a conclusion about expediency of application of the given technology promoting efficiency of organization of extracurricular independent activity of students in the educational process.

Influence of Extracurricular Teaching on Bangladeshi English Language Learning (ELL)

The practice of extracurricular teaching, that is, the teaching outside formal educational institutions, is a well established phenomenon in the education system of Bangladesh. Extracurricular teaching can be offered for any subject, including second/foreign language. This paper discusses the role of extracurricular teaching in English language learning in Bangladeshi context. Moreover, it reports on a qualitative study to explore the impact of extracurricular teaching on success while learning a second/foreign language. The paper ends with the interpretations of the dataset which reveal that due to interest learners join extracurricular teaching. Therefore, it is students’ interest which has the most significant role than extracurricular teaching in achieving the success in second language learning.

The paper describes the stages of a network between educational institutions and supplementary education in the fi eld of extracurricular activities teaching, the content of which need a good idea of planning to become a party to the educational network. Performance criteria of socio-pedagogical partnership in the interaction of the general and supplementary education in the conditions of the introduction of the FSES is the availability of functioning network interaction of educational institutions for the implementation of extracurricular activities in the framework of the FSES, involving teaching, psychological and pedagogical, professional, material and technical resources of educational institutions of diff erent levels; development and implementation of educational programs extracurricular activities FSES-based schools; positive dynamics of development of students involved in extracurricular activities; enhance the professional competence of teachers involved in networking through the organization of extracurricular activities in the Context of the FSES. Socio-pedagogical collaboration between the general and further education, the diff erent models of networking between educational institutions in the conditions of the introduction of the FSES helps to provide opportunities for the development of each child on a variety of activities taking into account the orientation of the individual; eff ective organization of extracurricular activities of students in the development of the FSES; empowerment to improve the professional competence of school teachers; meet the requests of professional participants in the educational process. Perspective and practical importance of this activity, which can be called innovative in the light of the modernization of education is the ability to design and realization of diff erent models of network of educational interaction in the framework of the extracurricular activities of students in the conditions of the introduction of the GEF in the educational space of city, region.

The Promotion of Extracurricular Sports Clubs on College Physical Education---------- Taking China West Normal University as Example

In recent years, upon deepening the reform on physical education (PE) curriculum in collegesi¼Œcolleges in many areas have established sports clubs. It makes PE class teaching and the after-PE class extension be fully combined, promotes the reform of PE curriculum, enhances the teaching efficiency and the sports level of college students, cultivates college students’ life habits of consciously doing sports exercises, and finally provides a solid foundation for students’ life-long sports. Taking the extracurricular sports club teaching of China West Normal University as the starting point, this paper tries hardly to explore the innovative models of physical education (PE) curriculum reform of schools and to provide references for other colleges.

Utilisation of a peer assisted learning scheme in an undergraduate diagnostic radiography module

BackgroundPeer to peer support programmes involve students supporting each other in either an educational, social and/or pastoral way. This is now common place in higher education institutes and has been proven to decrease student attrition and improve grades. AimTo evaluate a peer assisted learning scheme (PALS) within the University of Exeter undergraduate programme, where final year (stage 3) students held extra-curricular teaching sessions in an on-campus X-ray room throughout the academic term to support a first year (stage 1) module introducing basic projectional radiographic examinations, radiation safety, patient care and radiographic equipment. PALS sessions were unstructured and as such could involve roleplaying radiographic examinations, revisiting lecture material and/or discussing hospital placement or pastoral issues. MethodsBrookfield's four lenses of critical reflection were used. 16 of 63 stage 1 students and 9 of 29 stage 3 students were electronically surveyed upon completion of the PALS sessions. Relevant colleagues and educational specialists were also informally interviewed. These were put in context with autobiographical reflections and the existing literature base on PALS. ResultsAll agreed that the sessions provided a good environment for stage 1 students to improve their practical skills, revise lecture content, and gain confidence for upcoming clinical placements. Stage 3 students gained experience teaching students, an essential role of a graduate radiographer's job. Improvements around recruiting stage 3 peer leaders, sustainability, timetabling and session structure were explored. ConclusionThe PALS proved to be a successful initiative within the undergraduate programme and will be continued into the future.

Research on Extracurricular Teaching System Based on Twitter Mode

After a long practice and intensive research, targeted on innovation of extracurricular teaching system, with Diversified Teaching Theory and innovative exchange systems among teachers and students, a new teaching scheme of extracurricular teaching system for Basic Computer Course based on twitter model was proposed in this paper. This teaching model was established in textbook knowledge, and adopted the theory of multiple intelligences, and combined hot issues of students concerning, and opens various Twitter topics for student. It embodied the theory of multiple intelligences in the curriculum and teaching methods, and was an important role to develop students' healthy personality and improve their overall quality.

Developing Third Grade Boys and Girls' Spatial Ability by Means of an Extra-Curricular Teaching Unit

The present study focuses on the contribution of a teaching unit to the development of spatial ability of third graders in general and from a gender point of view in particular. The research population consisted of seventy-four pupils: thirty-seven pupils in the experimental group who attended the teaching unit and thirty-seven pupils in the control group. The spatial ability of all the pupils was examined by means of common tests which checked cognitive capabilities of spatial ability. The research findings illustrate an improvement in the spatial ability of the experimental group pupils following the participation in the teaching unit. Moreover, regarding the gender aspect, the findings show that there was no significant differentiation between the spatial ability of third grade boys and the spatial ability of girls of the same age group.

Launching ‘ interest-oriented research team’ to promote professional competence among public health students

Practicing and learning platform was preliminary established by teachers to explore the feasibility and availability of ‘ interest-oriented research team’ in promoting professional competence among public health students.Public health students interested in interest-oriented research were recruited.Through this platform,students can learn professional knowledge and conduct practice earlier and complete their study facing the society,community and public.After four years' practice and exploration,students indeed improved the abilities of researching and practicing,therefore,the training model of ‘interest-oriented research team’ needs promoting. The learning needs of beginning teachers in the United Arab Emirates

Beginning teachers have legitimate learning needs that cannot be grasped in advance or outside the school context. These needs are documented in Western literature, but the skills required by beginning teachers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have not been investigated. The present study responds to this research gap. Data were collected through a self-administered survey with multiple-choice and open-ended questions completed by beginning teachers. Then focus group meetings with selected participants were conducted. Classroom management, creating attractive learning environments, motivating pupils to learn and using different teaching strategies are the most critical learning needs of beginning teachers in the UAE. Interestingly, being responsive to the diverse cultural and social backgrounds of pupils, creating extra-curricular activities and teaching in overpopulated classrooms were considered less crucial. These findings are significant for improving pre-service teacher education programmes and in-service teacher training and mentoring programmes in the country.

Extracurricular activities in general practice teaching for medical students

One hundred and forty-four medical students were enrolled in the study, the participants were randomly divided into experimental group and control group with 72 in each. All students attended the theoretical lecture of general medicine. Students in experimental group took part in the extracurricular teaching activities including the nutritional course and practice, the clinical case study and problem based learning ( PBL), students in control group did not have the extracurricular activities. The results showed that although there was no difference in general testing scores between two groups, the problem solving ability and assay-writing ability of experimental group were significantly higher than those of control group. Scholarship in Mathematics Support Services

Mathematics Support is a recognised collective term for a variety of extracurricular mathematics and statistics teaching and learning services and resources provided by many Tertiary Educational Institutions. Typical services currently provided in the UK are described. Even with scholarly Mathematics teaching, the authors argue that, in the current UK Tertiary Educational climate, there is still a need for Mathematics Support services. This paper provides evidence of maturity and scholarly practice within the UK Higher Education Mathematics Support community of practice. Three areas where scholarship can be demonstrated in mathematics support services are explored. Firstly, scholarship in the Mathematics Support community of practice in the UK since the early 1990s is demonstrated through surveys of the extent of Mathematics Support provision. Secondly, scholarly practice in Mathematics Support is explored through case studies of good practice. In particular, a detailed case study of the use of electronic record-keeping in Mathematics Support tutoring to improve support effectiveness is provided. Thirdly, the Mathematics Support excellence rewarded by the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning status given to Coventry and Loughborough Universities is investigated. Evidence is provided of scholarship both leading to this award and in developments in Mathematics Support services provided after it was made. This paper concludes by evaluating how far scholarship has gone within the discipline of Mathematics Support and anticipating how the community of practice will develop in the future.

League against pain: an experiment in extracurricular teaching

Although anatomical and physiological base of pain are subject of the basic sciences in health undergraduate curriculum, it is not usually to have pain concepts and therapy into undergraduate programs. Describing the League Against Pain objectives and organization and the students' opinions about their participation in this league were the aim of this study. The League Against Pain Statute was consulted to describe its objectives and organization. The opinions of all of the students that attended the League Against Pain program in 1995 and 1996 were investigated. The League Against Pain was organized at an university hospital in 1995. It is composed by nurses and medical students and professionals (physicians in varied specialties and nurses). All the activities are voluntary and the students are the managers of the League. The objectives of the League are: improving the quality of teaching of pain subjects in nursing and medical schools; developing research in epidemiological, clinical and therapeutics aspects of pain and to promote a model of multidisciplinary and multiprofessional assistance. The most frequent students' opinions about their participation in the League were: their abilities in pain control and in professional and client relationship were improved; they achieved their objectives; that pain should be included into undergraduate courses; and they would recommend the League for other students. The results are promising. The students' opinions about their experience in the League Against Pain have showed that the League Against Pain could be an usefull model to introduce pain subjects to undergraduate nursing and medical students.
