Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Flipped Classroom Terhadap Literasi Numerasi Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Swasta Gajah Mada

Mathematics plays an important role in everyday life, including in the development of human thinking power, science, and technology, although it seems unreal and abstract. This study aims to determine the Effect of the Flipped Classroom Learning Model on Numeracy Literacy of Class VIII Students of Gajah Mada Private Middle School. The methodology of this study uses a quantitative quasi-experimental research type with a posttest in two classes. The population of this study were students of class VIII A, VIII B, VIII C at Gajah Mada Private Middle School with a total of 80 students. The sample in this study was class VIII B, and VIII C. The data sampling technique was carried out using the cluster random sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out with a posttest in both classes. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that "The Effect of the Flipped Classroom Learning Model on Numeracy Literacy of Class VIII Students of Gajah Mada Private Middle School". The data of this study are quantitative data obtained from the numeracy literacy test. Data analysis using the t-test. The results of the data analysis show that the ability of numeracy literacy in the Flipped Classroom learning model is higher than numeracy literacy without using the Flipped Classroom learning model. Thus, the flipped class learning model has an effect on students' numeracy literacy.

PELATIHAN PENGGUNAAN MESIN BOR DI DESA NAGASARI

In an increasingly advanced development in the modern era today makes many people use machines in everyday life, one example is a drilling machine as a tool for making holes, for that drilling machine has a very important role in an activity in society. Of course, not all people have the skills to use drilling machines, especially school children, even though these machines are often in the surrounding environment. So by organizing community service through the Real Work Lecture (KKN) program in Nagasari Village, Serang Baru District, Bekasi Regency, it aims to train the community to be given awareness that it is important to have the skills to use the machines around to increase knowledge about the use of drilling machines. The method of implementing community service applies community education in the form of socialization and training. The impact of the success of the training program on the use of drilling machines is in the form of increasing technical skills in using drilling machines safely and efficiently, thus making potential skills for participants in managing the technical needs of household tools and others.

N.I. Vorobyev made a great contribution to the comparative study of the history of settlement and traditional culture of the ethnographic groups of the Chuvash, their interethnic interaction with the contacted ethnoses. He identified three ethnographic complexes based on the features, both those that had archaic signs and newly formed ones. Regarding the history of the formation of ethnographic groups, the researcher argued that the population of the north-east of the Chuvash Volga region perceived more southern Turkic influences in their everyday life, began to differ in language and way of life from the north-western population, although they retained commonality with it in the main elements of language, culture and lifestyle. His conclusion that the main ethnographic groups of the Chuvash, as he considered the upper Viryal and lower Anatri, were finally formed during the 15th century in the northern regions of Chuvashia as a result of the rapprochement of the indigenous population of these areas with newcomers from the south, cannot be considered justified. The work of ethnographic expeditions in the Chuvash regions in the late 1940s and early 1950s, she showed that the archaic complex was most characteristic of the costume of the middle-aged Chuvash Anat enchi, although N.I. Vorobyev considered them an average or mixed ethnographic group. In general, he represented that group as part of the Anatri, who changed their way of life under the influence of borrowing from the Tatars. The author’s team, under the guidance of the scholar, developed in detail the classification of the Chuvash into groups and subgroups based on folk costume. N.I. Vorobyev for the first time identified three subgroups as part of anatri. The border zone between Anatri and anat yenchi, which was not clearly defined by its predecessors, in particular G.I. Komissarov, N.I. Vorobyev, was also not resolved. The riding costume was formed as a result of interaction with the mountain Mari people, although many features that unite it primarily with the anat Enchi costume were not replaced in it. The authors emphasise that the striking external differences that were recorded in the riding Chuvash northwestern subgroups and grassroots chuvashki hirti. They did not violate the common cultural community of the Chuvash people. It should be noted that the task of a more detailed substantiation of cultural and linguistic areas at the level of subgroups within the ethnographic groups of the Chuvash, divided into four subgroups in the upper zone and three in the middle and lower ones, unresolved by the expeditions of the late 1940s – early 1950s, remains relevant.

‘I felt’: Intimate geographies of sentient diplomacy

This paper explores feelings in diplomatic intimacies in the United Nations in New York. Drawing upon arguments in philosophy on emotional experience and supported by oral testimonies of diplomats, it supplements and complements the rich body of work on practices in diplomacy by exploring how feelings can reach out and be directed towards things in the world beyond the bounds of the body and this is part of the phenomenology of everyday diplomatic lives. I set out three key interconnected goals in order to personify state diplomacy: First, I show how feelings are bound up with cognition and perception and are not the mere effects of these. Secondly, I link feelings with the affective context of the United Nations Security Council in order to expose everyday existential experiences of individual diplomats. Thirdly, I reveal the perceived importance of eliciting events in this geopolitical setting, and the personal meaning of these to diplomats as expressed through their own feelings as state representatives. This is a unique approach to understanding diplomacy in political geography, and also the first of its kind in the study of the intimate geopolitics of the UN.

Dossiê Terror e intimidade: perspectivas etnográficas e desafios conceituais

The Special Issue proposed here gathers five articles that, stemming from ethnographic research, propose a reflection on the radical relationship between terrorist practices and experiences of intimacy. The Special Issue focuses on the ways in which these two dimensions are linked, suggesting that terrorist practices involve technologies that directly affect experiences considered intimate, concerning bodies, homes, routines, and affections. We argue, with the present proposal, that this is also why the effects of such practices reverberate far beyond the time and place in which they occur. Starting from ethnographic contexts involving routines of state violence in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro; an episode of sexual violence in an agrarian conflict in Paraíba; experiences of forced displacement and exile related to the Colombian conflict; and the armed conflict in Brazil from its urban peripheries; we also want to investigate the political effects of the presence of terror in the midst of everyday life and intimate networks of relationships.

Weathering words: a virtual reality study of environmental influence on reading dynamics.

Reading is a fundamental cognitive activity that is influenced by both textual and external environmental factors, although the latter has been less thoroughly explored. This study aims to examine the impact of environmental visual conditions on reading performance using Virtual Reality (VR) technology. We conducted two experiments to assess the effects of visual contrast and simulated weather conditions on reading dynamics. In Experiment 1, we measured single-word recognition speed using a lexical decision task under different visual contrasts and weather conditions. In Experiment 2, we assessed reading dynamics during a sentence reading task, analyzing how visual contrast and simulated sunny versus rainy weather conditions affected reading behavior, particularly focusing on reading speed and eye fixations. In Experiment 1, high visual contrast, particularly under sunny conditions, significantly enhanced single-word recognition speed, indicating a notable influence of environmental visual conditions. In Experiment 2, visual contrast had minimal effect on sentence reading; however, sunny weather facilitated faster reading times, while rainy scenarios increased the number of eye fixations. These findings suggest that environmental factors, such as weather conditions, can significantly affect reading behavior. The study contributes to the understanding of key environmental influences on reading in everyday life contexts and has implications for the ergonomic design of reading materials, especially for outdoor settings and VR environments. Additionally, the integration of controlled stimuli within VR increases the ecological validity of reading research, underscoring the potential of VR as a powerful tool for cognitive research.

Neuromuscular ultrasound for the differential diagnosis of radial tunnel syndrome and lateral epicondylitis.

Lateral elbow pain is quite common in everyday life. Lateral epicondylitis and radial tunnel syndrome are the most common causes of lateral elbow pain. The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of neuromuscular ultrasound examination in the diagnosis of lateral epicondylitis versus radial tunnel syndrome. This was a prospective double-blinded pilot study of 68 elbows in 34 patients with lateral elbow pain. Patients underwent clinical examination and standardized neuromuscular ultrasound evaluation in the first 15days after the initiation of symptoms. Statistical significance was set at p<.001. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) were calculated. Sixty-eight radial nerves were examined in 34 healthy controls (16 males; mean age 48.1±8.2years). Pain with palpation over the radial tunnel was found in 25 of 48 elbows (52.1%) compared to the pain over the lateral epicondyle found in 10 of 48 elbows (20.8%). Τhe sensitivity of palpation in differentiating radial tunnel syndrome from lateral epicondylitis was 75.7%, while the specificity was 50% (PPV 71.4%, NPV 51.5%). The sensitivity of neuromuscular ultrasound in differentiating radial tunnel syndrome from lateral epicondylitis was 92.6%, while the specificity was 80% (PPV 92.6%, NPV 80.0%). In most of the patients (25/31), fibrous bands anterior to the radio-capitellar joint were responsible for the nerve entrapment. The present study highlights the importance of the neuromuscular ultrasound's diagnostic role in differentiating radial tunnel syndrome from lateral epicondylitis in the clinical scenario of lateral elbow pain.

Dissolving boundaries: work, activity, and voluntariness in digitized capitalism

ABSTRACT The article focuses on voluntariness as a mode of restructuring work in 21st century digitalized capitalism. What can be observed is a blurring of the boundaries between work, reproduction, leisure and engagement. We pursue the thesis that this transformation in the ‘nature’ of work corresponds to a (newly emerging) ‘mixed-activity economy’ in which people, on the one hand, create economic value in the sphere of consumption or leisure. On the other hand, reproductive requirements and economic necessities in everyday work and life can be flexibly linked through time-flexible platform work. In any case, the forms of corporate value creation and access to human productivity are changing radically insofar as they are no longer limited to classic wage labor alone. The invocation of voluntarism plays a key legitimizing role in this transformation. Based on a theoretical reconstruction of the concept of voluntariness, we bring together new forms of value creation through appropriation of resources outside of wage labor and the systematic analysis of voluntariness as a currently significant mode of action and governance in the digital economy.

Association between working memory performance and parent and teacher ratings of working memory in 11-year-old children born preterm

ABSTRACT Working memory (WM) difficulties are often observed in children born preterm. We examined whether performance-based measures of WM components are associated with parent- and teacher-rated WM difficulties in the everyday life of children born very preterm and/or at very low birth weight (VPT/VLBW) at 11 years (n = 165). The WM components as defined in the original Baddeley’s model – phonological loop (PL), visuospatial sketchpad (VS), and central executive (CE) – were assessed with tasks from the Working Memory Test Battery for Children (WMTB-C) and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fourth edition (WISC-IV). Parents and teachers completed the WM subscale of the Behavioral Rating Inventory for Executive Functions (BRIEF). Measures of WM components were modestly associated with BRIEF scores, explaining 18.9% of the variance in parent-rated and 14.0% of teacher-rated WM difficulties. CE was the component most consistently associated with parent- and teacher-rated everyday WM. To conclude, our results suggest that tasks that utilize CE functions may best reflect WM outside of controlled test settings in the follow-up of VPT/VLBW children. However, performance and rating-scale measures provide unique information and are both needed to comprehensively assess WM skills.

The student as user: mapping student experiences of platformisation in higher education

ABSTRACT This article builds on emerging accounts of the ‘student as user’ to explore platformisation in higher education from the perspectives of students. While existing scholarship on platformisation and assetisation has highlighted important concerns about the distribution of power and value in contemporary higher education, much of this literature privileges a top-down focus on the edtech industry or the workings of particular platforms at the expense of lived experience. Departing from this critique, I explore what platformisation looks and feels like in the lives of students by presenting ‘platform maps’ created and narrated by university students in Scotland. The accounts show how student agency is enabled, constrained and shaped by platformisation and how students come to depend on platforms in their everyday lives. In the process, students' lives and higher education more broadly become entangled with dynamics of platformisation in complicated and problematic ways.

Using 3D Hand Pose Data in Recognizing Human–Object Interaction and User Identification for Extended Reality Systems

Object detection and action/gesture recognition have become imperative in security and surveillance fields, finding extensive applications in everyday life. Advancement in such technologies will help in furthering cybersecurity and extended reality systems through the accurate identification of users and their interactions, which plays a pivotal role in the security management of an entity and providing an immersive experience. Essentially, it enables the identification of human–object interaction to track actions and behaviors along with user identification. Yet, it is performed by traditional camera-based methods with high difficulties and challenges since occlusion, different camera viewpoints, and background noise lead to significant appearance variation. Deep learning techniques also demand large and labeled datasets and a large amount of computational power. In this paper, a novel approach to the recognition of human–object interactions and the identification of interacting users is proposed, based on three-dimensional hand pose data from an egocentric camera view. A multistage approach that integrates object detection with interaction recognition and user identification using the data from hand joints and vertices is proposed. Our approach uses a statistical attribute-based model for feature extraction and representation. The proposed technique is tested on the HOI4D dataset using the XGBoost classifier, achieving an average F1-score of 81% for human–object interaction and an average F1-score of 80% for user identification, hence proving to be effective. This technique is mostly targeted for extended reality systems, as proper interaction recognition and users identification are the keys to keeping systems secure and personalized. Its relevance extends into cybersecurity, augmented reality, virtual reality, and human–robot interactions, offering a potent solution for security enhancement along with enhancing interactivity in such systems.

‘Living in a post-truth era’? Online misinformation in everyday life in rural and urban China

ABSTRACT This paper investigates everyday information seeking and misinformation among Internet users in rural and urban China. The research employs both quantitative and qualitative methods to identify user demographics and categories of misinformation encountered on mobile devices online. The paper makes two contributions: one is to bridge hitherto unconnected research on everyday information practices with the literature on misinformation. The second is to demonstrate that, despite the assumption that China’s tightly controlled online space leads to less of a misinformation problem, this is not the case in everyday life contexts. The findings may have wider implications, especially in the Global South.

Humanistic foundations of the legal system: dialectics of theory and practice in the conditions of modern challenges

The article is devoted to the study of the principle of humanism as the fundamental basis of the modern legal state. The author examines the historical development of the concept of humanism from the ideas of ancient philosophers to modern concepts of human rights, emphasizing its key role in the formation of the legal system and state policy. The work analyzes the concept of «principle» and its meaning in the legal context. The author emphasizes the systematic nature of the principles of law, their interrelation and hierarchy, which is critically important for understanding their role in the formation and functioning of the legal system. Special attention is paid to the principle of humanism as a cross-cutting element of the legal system. Its key aspects are considered: recognition of the inherent value of each person, respect for human dignity, provision of conditions for the realization of rights and freedoms, striving for the common good. The author emphasizes that humanism in law is not only an ethical ideal, but also a practical guideline for law-making and law enforcement. The article also examines certain aspects of the dialectical opposition between humanism and anti­humanism, which allows for a deeper understanding of the dynamic nature of humanistic principles and their role in the development of the rule of law. The author emphasizes the need for constant critical review of existing norms and institutions for their compliance with humanistic ideals. An important aspect of the research is consideration of the relationship between the level of moral maturity of society and the implementation of the principle of humanism. The author claims that in a morally developed society, respect for the rights and freedoms of the individual becomes an organic component of everyday life, which creates a harmonious coexistence of ethical principles and legal norms. In the conclusions, the author emphasizes the need not only for formal enshrining of humanistic principles in legislation, but also for their practical implementation in all spheres of social life. This requires constant improvement of the legal system and state administration in order to maximally satisfy the needs and interests of citizens, which is a key feature of a truly legal and democratic state.

CHALLENGES IN IOT SECURITY: UNRESOLVED ISSUES AND KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR SAFEGUARDING INFORMATION

In contemporary society, one of the pressing challenges in the realm of information security is the protection of what is commonly referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT). Recent studies indicate a notable rise in demand for IoT devices over the past three to four years, highlighting an increasing reliance on interconnected technologies in our daily lives. This article explores three fundamental security conditions, emphasizing the unique requirements of IoT systems. The key requirements under examination are confidentiality and authentication processes, which are paramount in safeguarding user data and ensuring secure interactions between devices. Furthermore, the article sheds light on several unresolved issues concerning information security within the IoT landscape, such as vulnerabilities stemming from inadequate device security protocols, the challenge of data privacy in a hyper-connected environment, and the need for comprehensive regulatory frameworks. Addressing these concerns is essential for fostering a secure and trustworthy IoT ecosystem as it continues to evolve and integrate further into various aspects of everyday life. Evolution and development tendencies of material handling machines

The tools used during mobilities are very diverse, but their operation and structure can be traced back to the same basic principles that created the material handling machines during the previous centuries. Today, knowledge of material handling machines has become a basic necessity not only for industrial and service processes, but also for people's everyday lives, since our lives are almost unimaginably filled with different means of transportation, or without using the vehicles that transport and load our daily consumer goods. As in all areas, material handling is becoming more and more modern, and equipment that serves social and economic needs at a high level is used. One of the most defining characteristics of today's consumer society is extremely rapid change, which also affects our devices, so the design of material handling machines is also constantly changing. An important question of competitive service is how to meet rapidly changing needs. In my article, I review the development of material handling equipment, or the most important handling machines used in modern systems. Based on the outlined processes and technical changes, I will try to show where material handling is headed, what trends prevail today or are expected in server systems of the near future.

Cultural Practices of Mothers and Babies during the Postnatal Period: A Qualitative Study in Rural Bangladesh

This study describes the experiences of women in rural Bangladesh, and the cultural practices related to how they take care of themselves and their babies, in the early postnatal period. Data were gathered through immersion in the field for six months, participant observation, document collection and in-depth interview techniques to gain a deep understanding of women’s everyday lives and practices during the postnatal period. In-depth interviews were undertaken with 28 mothers who had had at least one live child within the five years before the date of data collection, in Purba Sharifabad village of the Barisal Division in Bangladesh. The key findings of this study highlight the role of culture in the experiences of women during the postnatal period, and reveal that cultural practices, beliefs and traditions are deeply embedded in the lives of rural women. This study focuses on cultural practices which have an effect on the choices of women regarding care and support from healthcare facilities. Culture, together with poverty and low levels of education, leads them to resist healthcare from a skilled birth attendant and encourages them to believe in and trust traditional care practices during the postnatal period. Therefore, the findings of this study may contribute to future policies, planning, programs and research in Bangladesh by providing an understanding of the importance of culturally and socially rooted traditional beliefs and cultural practices. These need to be addressed for maternal and newborn healthcare initiatives to be effective, particularly in rural Bangladesh.

A ‘Back Door’ Exploration of Social Problems in Comic Strip Dialogues With Marginalized Children

ABSTRACTBased on 35 comic strip dialogues with marginalized children in Italy, Norway and Slovenia, as well as three individual interviews with Italian practitioners, this article introduces a methodological approach that offers a ‘back door’ for exploring social problems embedded in the everyday lives of children. The analysis demonstrates the importance of adopting an everyday life perspective as an analytical strategy in conversations with children in marginalized life situations. This means shifting the focus away from solely examining risk factors and instead promoting a contextual understanding of risk, with an emphasis on amplifying the diverse voices of children.

Sprachsensibler Fachunterricht an „Nationalitätenschulen“ in Regionen mit autochthonen deutschen Minderheiten – Modelle und Herausforderungen

Abstract This article deals with so-called “nationality schools”, educational institutions in which the primary language of instruction generally differs from the language of the majority society. Conceptually, this applies to minority schools in regions with autochthonous German minorities, which since the 1990s have tended to develop into schools of encounter, as the proportion of autochthonous native speakers has fallen to a maximum of 5 percent of the student body. This makes the educational institutions, which are often referred to as elite schools, all the more sought-after by the majority society. The social relevance of these schools is based on a pedagogical concept that transcends national borders in education and training and makes international perspectives a matter of course in early school years. It opens up transnational educational spaces in which linguistic diversity and multilingualism are part of everyday life. Subject lessons at these schools are usually taught in the pupils’ second or foreign language and require language-sensitive subject teaching, which requires the teaching and learning of the subject matter, the educational language of the subject and the foreign language German in equal measure (Content and Language Integrated Learning). Various models are presented for locating the language of education, which illustrate the particular importance of linking language and subject learning. Only mastery of the language of education enables difficult and cognitively demanding contexts to be penetrated linguistically and information to be processed. Educational language is therefore an indispensable prerequisite and at the same time a challenge for subject teaching a second or foreign language. The article shows examples of the educational language tools that need to be taught at different levels and provides a possible structuring aid for teachers and learners by discussing the “scaffolding” model.

Development and validation of the RQLQ: a Raynaud's disease-specific measure of health-related quality of life.

The aim of this study was to develop and validate the Raynaud Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ) for assessing health-related quality (HRQOL) of life in patients with Raynaud's disease (RD). The questionnaire was developed and validated in three stages. Initially, semi-structured interviews with 28 RD patients identified domains of everyday life affected by RD, leading to the creation of the initial RQLQ. In the first quantitative stage, 101 patients completed the RQLQ, and exploratory factor analysis assessed dimensionality and factor structure. After removing poorly performing items, the final RQLQ was tested with 102 patients. This stage also evaluated convergent, divergent, and discriminant validity, as well as internal reliability. From the interviews, 135 items were generated, with factor analysis refining the measure to 29 items across five subscales, showing good internal consistency. The RQLQ demonstrated significant correlations with self-rated quality of life and physical and mental health outcomes, confirming convergent and divergent validity. It also showed discriminant validity for different levels of disease activity. The RQLQ is the first specific HRQOL measure for RD patients, proving to be a psychometrically sound, reliable, and valid tool for clinical research and practice. Assitenza ventilatoria non invasiva: dalla teoria alla pratica

Noninvasive respiratory assistance strategies are becoming part of everyday life for paediatricians, both in hospitals and territorial settings. In the acute condition, a timely and correct use of noninvasive respiratory support can improve the outcome of acute respiratory failure, decreasing the need for invasive mechanical ventilation. An increasing number of chronic patients can benefit from appropriate treatment with home ventilators. Respiratory assistance may be performed using High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) or NonInvasive Ventilation (NIV), depending on the primary cause of respiratory failure. Understanding the working mechanisms of the different techniques and the golden rules to use them is crucial for a satisfying outcome.
