The creation of scientific works is inseparable from the activities of searching, processing, and citing existing information. Mistakes in obtaining information or citing from literary sources will result in significant problems. Accusations of plagiarism and even legal action can be taken against individuals who produce scientific articles with the label of plagiarism. The writing methods or the use of citation management tools are still not optimal in reducing the level of plagiarism. The knowledge and awareness of writers about the importance of preserving and respecting the works of others become crucial to understand. Training becomes an effective solution to enhance the knowledge and awareness of writers about the importance of preserving and respecting the works of others, which are intellectual properties. The method used in the training involved lectures and discussions, integrating the material into the Information Technology Ethics, Regulation, and Cyber Law course. After the community service activities were conducted, it can be concluded that 79% of students felt an increase in knowledge regarding the dangers and importance of avoiding plagiarism, and the community service activities were effective in providing education and understanding to the students.

OPTIMIZATION OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY AND ETHICS IN FRAUD PREVENTION

This study aims to empirically test the effects of information technology audits and professional ethics have a positive effect on fraud prevention efforts in financial services companies. To support this study, the method used by the researcher is a descriptive and verification analysis method with a quantitative approach to 40 auditors from 12 financial services companies. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires via Google Form with data analysis carried out using the multiple linear regression method with the help of SPSS software version 2.3. The results of the analysis show that information technology audits and professional ethics both have a significant positive effect on fraud prevention efforts. This finding emphasizes the importance of integration between information technology, audit practices, and professional ethics in maintaining the security and integrity of the company from potential fraud. This study provides an important contribution to understanding how these factors interact in the context of fraud prevention in companies.

Exploring the Relationship between Individual Information Technology Ethics and Netizenship Behaviors

In the digital age, information technology (IT) ethics plays a critical role in shaping netizenship behavior within online communities. This concept paper examines the relationship between individual IT ethics and netizenship behavior and emphasizes how ethical principles guide responsible and constructive participation in digital spaces. Based on theoretical frameworks such as the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Digital Citizenship, the article examines the influence of ethical IT practices on positive netizenship, including factors such as digital literacy, hierarchical influence and cultural or religious values. The review shows that people with strong IT ethics are more likely to engage in responsible online behavior, promoting healthier digital environments. By identifying gaps in the existing literature, the paper proposes a conceptual model to guide future empirical research on how ethical IT use influences digital citizenship. The findings highlight the importance of promoting IT ethics and digital literacy to improve online interactions and contribute to more engaged, respectful and responsible digital communities.

A contextual integrity approach to genomic information: what bioethics can learn from big data ethics

Genomic data is generated, processed and analysed at an increasingly rapid pace. This data is not limited to the medical context, but plays an important role in other contexts in society, such as commercial DNA testing, the forensic setting, archaeological research, and genetic surveillance. Genomic information also crosses the borders of these domains, e.g. forensic use of medical genetic information, insurance use of medical genomic information, or research use of commercial genomic data. This paper (1) argues that an informed consent approach for genomic information has limitations in many societal contexts, and (2) seeks to broaden the bioethical debate on genomic information by suggesting an approach that is applicable across multiple societal contexts. I argue that the contextual integrity framework, a theory rooted in information technology and big data ethics, is an effective tool to explore ethical challenges that arise from genomic information within a variety of different contexts. Rather than focusing on individual control over information, the contextual integrity approach holds that information should be shared and protected according to the norms that govern certain distinct social contexts. Several advantages of this contextual integrity approach will be discussed. The paper concludes that the contextual integrity framework helps to articulate and address a broad spectrum of ethical, social, and political factors in a variety of different societal contexts, while giving consideration to the interests of individuals, groups, and society at large.

Information Ethics Among College Students – Selected Countries Analysis

ABSTRACT Information ethics (IE) influences how people use and produce information and affects information services, information technology (IT), and professional practices. Lack of IE severely affects individuals, teams, organizations, or the community. This research bridges a gap in understanding IE perceptions and IE-declared behavior among different sociodemographic profiles in the global communicative space. We devised an extended version of the IT ethics survey to measure attitudes toward IE issues. We surveyed a sample of 1,648 college students in seven countries. We identified four clusters, uncovering groups of people with very high (Legalists), high (Moralists), fair (Pragmatists), and low (Anarchists) perceptions of the IE issues. Clusters allow the exploration of patterns in IE perceptions that would remain hidden at an individual level of analysis and can help to predict IE-related behavior. The findings imply that teachers should adapt IE curricula, and managers should customize the policies and interventions to these groups. Furthermore, managers should consider group behavior and account for factors that affect it in the corporate world, such as lower computer knowledge. International managers should be aware that certain groups behave more unethically with IT and are overrepresented in certain countries.

Information Technology Ethics, a Key Ingredient to Human Survival

Information Technology (IT) as a field of computing has been in existence since the 1990s. Though it has been with us for a short time, the field has changed how society handles different tasks be it in communication, interactions, and knowledge sharing among others. IT ethics has also been gaining popularity and attracting a lot of attention from researchers to ensure IT has been used for the betterment of our societies. The field of IT is continuously evolving, and new technologies are being developed each day to respond to current and future societal needs. It is therefore important to ensure ethical IT aligns with these as new technologies will introduce a new way of interacting with society, hence needs to ensure it conforms to society’s ethics. This paper reviews how ethical IT has shaped the field of IT, where and how it has been applied to ensure IT products and resources are well used for the well-being of mankind. Since IT is evolving, the paper will also review and project the future of IT, some of its common trends and how ethical IT should evolve to respond to these new developments.

Job Satisfaction of Non-Teaching Its Relationship to University Policies and Leadership Styles Linked to Their Performance: Based for Proposed Program

Abstract: This study endeavored to determine work competence and job satisfaction of non-teaching personnel at Taguig City University and to formulate a proposed training program. A total of one hundred twenty-one (121) non-teaching staffs as respondents was drawn using purposive sampling technique. It employed descriptive method of research with emphasis on survey method using a researcher-made instrument. Further, it sought to answer the questions on demographic profile, work competence, and level of job satisfaction. The frequencies, percentages, weighted means, ANOVA, and chi-square were the statistical measures utilized. Results revealed that there was only a slight difference as to their sex due to very close interval. Half of the respondents are college graduate and most of them have a casual employment status with the range of 1-3 years in service. The study also found out that work competence level of non-teaching personnel was competent when it comes to oral, written communication and information communication technology. Also, they are highly competent when it comes to work ethics. On the other hand, job satisfactions of non-teaching personnel are highly satisfied in supervision, nature of work, interpersonal relationship and commitment. Furthermore, results showed that age affects the work competence level in terms of information and communication technology, work ethics and written communication while the civil status affects their work competence level in oral communication, written communication and information and communication technology. However, level of work competence in terms of information and communication technology, oral communication, written communication and work ethics do not depend on their sex. Also, their level of work competence in terms of oral communication, information and communication technology, work ethics and written communication depends on their educational attainment. Moreover, length of service does not affect their work competence level in terms of written communication, information and information technology and work ethics. But, the work competence in oral and written communication depends on their employment status and among the seven variables on job satisfaction, work competence does not depend on salary. Ethics of Information Technology in the Context of a Global Worldview

The present scientific paper outlines in today’s contempo­rary world - where everything is as it seems at first glance, subordinated to the economy, technology and politics are essentially ruled by ethics, value attitudes, which in that or otherwise find embodiment for purposes activities. After all, the question of goals, intentions is the question about values. The paper underlines that modern information technology has sharpened the problem of the values of the human spirit and choice further path of our world civilization. Everyone remembers the 20th century with its socio-cultural contradictions. And the scale of the achievements, and the scale of destruction committed by people in the twentieth century, incomparable with any other times in its history. The present paper emphasizes that if we want to keep human moral values in the information sphere, then is the technology itself sufficient for this, creating suitable programs forcing save them? Of course, working in networks and not consider off-grid the laws impossible. The paper concludes that what will this process lead to, hard to say. Strategies for coping with frontier technologies and innovations in Africa

Recent advancements in Frontier Technologies and Innovations (FTI), including artificial intelligence, robotics, and biotechnology have shown significant and tremendous potentials for sustainable development globally. Despite this, Africa appears to be unprepared to equitably use or adopt these technological innovations. Evidence has shown that the ongoing global growth in FTI negatively impacts Africa with multifaceted inequalities ranging from poor global class, persistent poverty, disparities in income-earning opportunities, internet usage, pay gap, poor standards of education and health, etc., resulting majorly from poor adoption of technological innovations and favorable Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policies, culture, ethics, and values. Significant digital divides were evident between the technologically advanced countries and backward countries such as Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic because technological innovations have become critical tools for addressing the spread of the disease. This study highlights the strategy for coping with FTI for sustainable development in Africa. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) was adopted as the study conceptual framework. UTAUT model claims that users' acceptance behavior toward technology is determined by users' decision to use technology and the perceived benefits thereof. The researchers explored a narrative review, analysis, and synthesis of vast works of literature that revealed significant information on strategies for coping with FTI in Africa. The researchers also conjointly extracted peer-reviewed articles among the last five years from electronic databases, engaging some keywords like "Frontier Technologies and Innovations in Africa' 'Coping with Frontier Technologies and Innovations' leveraging resources of Africa via Technology and Innovation", etc. Results show that global progress was associated with sharper inequality between countries, with widening disparities in FTI adoption, literacy level, and access to products, social services such as ICT infrastructure, electrification, education, and health. Results also show that literacy empowerment in Africa especially among women, on technology adoption, policies, culture, ethics, and values may advance sustainable goals, leverage their literacy abilities for FTI adoption, and close widening gaps and inequalities in global FTI.

This research ains to make analyze about impact to information technology and professional ethics of public accountants for auditor performance. The result expected to provide benefits in the audit process of financial statements that they can to improve the auditor performance in public accounting firms in DKI Jakarta area. Respondent used in this study are auditors who work in public accounting firms in DKI Jakarta area. Data collection methods used was questionnaire. The analytical method used in this research is descriptive analysis. The verification analysis is used to test the outer model, inner model and hypothesis testing with SmartPLS 3th version. Result of this research reveals that of the two variables; information technology and professional ethics of public accountants that have significant positive effect on auditor performance. The result of this analysis show from original sample value of information technology of 0.225 and professional ethics of 0.691. I t means that information technology and professional ethics have a significant effect on auditor performance. Meanwhile, the t-statistics value of information technology is 3.517 and professional ethics is 10.289. It means that information technology and professional ethics have a significant effect on auditor performance. The result illustrate that auditors feel benefits when implementing information technology consisting of artificial intelligence with use of being able to help analyze big data quickly, reduce errors. Then, cloud computing with the use of large storage scalability and can adapt to the needs and flexibility of data usage. Then there is professional ethics in supporting and improving the performance of auditors with the basic principles formulated by IAPI.

“Digital trust” vs “Distrust” in the Formation of Social Relations and Practices of Glocal Society

Introduction. The individual’s application of established social practices in the digital environment faces certain difficulties caused by the wide opportunities for “honest” and “dishonest” behavior on the Internet. The high level of trust in digital technologies and the possibility of manipulating personal data, the desire to rely on “expert opinion” and unreliable information, the social need for communication and the illusion of communication in social networks, as well as other dilemmas of relationships in the digital world and operating with big data create a sense of uncertainty, instability and disunity in the perception of digital reality. The purpose of the article is to identify social and ethical aspects of trust phenomenon as an attitude of consciousness, obstacles to digital trust and identify ways to develop it. Materials and Methods. The interdisciplinary approach based on ethics of information technology, sociology, and communication theory allows us to analyze the formation of new social practices and interpret the development of a person’s value attitude to new realities of life. Research result. The following areas of actualization of the concept of “trust” in the digital world are identified as trust in data and algorithms, trust in “digital subject”, “Internet of trust” as a space of obligations and rules. The formation of the “Internet of trust” is associated with awareness of all social, moral and psychological problems associated with the process of combining online and offline environments in the social practice of an individual, where new forms of applying traditional standards of behavior should be found. Discussion and Conclusion. Postponing the rational risk analysis of digital interaction by an individual “for later” provokes the creation of situations that are critical for the individual’s well-being and security. The costs of digital trust are reduced security and creation of “traps” in public relations and social practices. Digital environment creates a situation of vulnerability of an individual, which encourages him to resort to possible measures of protection. In turn, the “Internet of trust” as a new digital reality is absolutely necessary for the effective functioning and further development of society.

Is Employee Technological “Ill-Being” Missing from Corporate Responsibility? The Foucauldian Ethics of Ubiquitous IT Uses in Organizations

The ethical issues introduced by excessive uses of ubiquitous information technology (IT) at work have received little attention, from either practitioners or ethics scholars. This article suggests the concept of technological ill-being and explores the ethical issues arising from such ill-being, according to the individual and collective responsibilities associated with their negative effects. This article turns to the philosopher Michel Foucault and proposes a renewed approach of the relationship among IT, ethics, and responsibility, based on the concepts of practical rationality, awareness, and self-engagement. This article reports a case study of an international automotive company actively engaged in both corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ubiquitous IT deployment. Technological ill-being is an expression of the tension between an individual’s social attributes and aspirations when using modern IT and a system of norms, rules, and values imposing constraints on him or her. We identify the reasons for the lack of consideration of technological ill-being in CSR through identification of the inclusion–exclusion principle. The resulting critical, comprehensive approach to corporate responsibilities and IT uses incorporates the ethical implications of the latter, highlights the practical rationality of their relationship, and demands both individual and collective responses, through a call for collective ethical awareness and self-engagement. The findings prompt a Foucauldian ethics of IT use in organizations, which emerges in a mutually constitutive relationship between the self, as a moral subject of own actions, and broader organizational principles, in which CSR appears as a techne (i.e., a practical rationality governed by conscious aims).

New Marketing Strategies for Fast Fashion Brands in South Korea: An Exploration of Consumer’s Purchasing Experiences

Global fast fashion brands have been popular and most of them have entered the Korean market. With their success, Korean apparel companies launched domestic fast fashion brands; however, recently they have become fiercely competitive, and consumers are demanding better design and quality and cheaper prices than before. The purpose of this study is to explore consumer purchasing behavior of the global as well as domestic fast fashion brands sold in Korea and to suggest marketing strategies for the brands sold in Korea. The study includes interviewing 61 Korean consumers to ask about their purchasing behavior and experiences. This study found four themes from these in-depth interviews: 1) demand of product glocalization which considers both globalization and localization for better style, quality, and assortment plan, 2) satisfaction with the reasonable price range of fast fashion brands but dissatisfaction with price discrimination among countries, 3) importance of easy, comfortable, and convenient accessibility to fast fashion brands, and 4) preference for good brand reputation related to corporate social responsibility(CSR) and nationality. From these four themes, this study developed the four elements of the marketing mix: product, price, accessibility, and reputation to adapt to a new marketing environment that emphasizes the development of information technology, consumer-centric marketing, and corporate ethics. The findings of this research could contribute useful information to both global and domestic fashion companies as well as consumers.

Ethics in Robotics Research: CERNA Mission and Context

This article summarizes the recommendations concerning robotics as issued by the Commission for the Ethics of Research in Information Sciences and Technologies (CERNA), the French advisory commission for the ethics of information and communication technology (ICT) research. Robotics has numerous applications in which its role can be overwhelming and may lead to unexpected consequences. In this rapidly evolving technological environment, CERNA does not set novel ethical standards but seeks to make ethical deliberation inseparable from scientific activity. Additionally, it provides tools and guidance for researchers and research institutions.

Incorporating a Critical Reasoning Component into the ICT–Ethics Methodological Framework: A Case Study

Is the standard/classic applied–ethics model used by philosophers adequate for analyzing issues in information and communication technology (ICT) ethics? A number of critics have argued that it is not, claiming instead that we need to revise and possibly also expand upon that model. In the various proposals advanced so far, however, no one has questioned whether we need to include an explicit critical reasoning (CR) component as part of an adequate ICT–ethics methodological framework. The purpose of the present study is to show why having such a component is not only useful but perhaps critical to ICT–ethics analysis. After defining what I mean by CR, and describing how it differs significantly from both formal logic and critical thinking, I show why incorporating a CR component can help us to achieve four of our key objectives as ICT–ethics professionals/instructors. First, CR provides us with a clear and systematic method for spotting logical fallacies, some of which might not initially seem either obvious or intuitive, in the various arguments that have been advanced to influence social policies affecting ICT. Second, CR provides us with techniques for testing our own arguments to ensure that they do not contain any logical fallacies. Third, CR provides us with a clear and fairly rigorous methodology for not only avoiding fallacies but also for constructing strong arguments to defend the views we advance. Finally, infusing a CR component into ICT–ethics courses will aid instructors in teaching their students how to detect and avoid logical fallacies, as well as teaching them how to construct strong arguments to defend their own positions on issues.

An Informational Model as a Guideline to Design Sustainable Green SLA (GSLA)

Recently, Service Level Agreement (SLA) and green SLA (GSLA) becomes very important for both the service providers/vendors and as well as for the users/customers. There are many ways to inform users/customers about various services with its inherent execution functionalities and even non-functional/Quality of Service (QoS) aspects through SLAs. However, these basic SLAs actually do not cover eco-efficient green issues or IT ethics issues for sustainable development. That is why green SLA (GSLA) already came into play for achieving sustainability in the industry. Nevertheless, the current practice of GSLA in the industry do not respect the sustainability at all. GSLA defined as a formal agreement incorporating all the traditional commitments respecting some green computing parameters such as carbon footprint, energy consumption etc. Therefore, there are still gaps for achieving sustainability through existing GSLA. To reach the goal of achieving sustainability and getting more customers, many IT (Information Technology) and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) business are looking for a real GSLA which would meet the ecological, economical and ethical aspects (3Es) of sustainability. This research discovers the missing parameters and introduce new parameters under sustainability hoods. In addition, it defines GSLA of sustainability with new green performance indicators and their measurable units. It also discovers the management complexity of proposed new GSLA through designing a general informational model and identifies various new entities and their effects with other entities under three pillars of sustainability. The ICT engineer could use the informational model as a guideline to design a sustainable GSLA for the industry. Therefore, the proposed model could help different service providers/vendors to define their future business strategies for the upcoming sustainable society.

Raising Professional Ethics in Librarianship

Since many decades, library associations across the world are developing and promoting the code of ethics for the Library and Information Science (LIS) profession. This paper addresses the existing professional ethics of information technology (IT) organisations and LIS associations. Since LIS profession is trending equally with IT profession, it is necessary to look at the code of ethics of IT organisations. This paper emphasises that fineness in the LIS profession can be achieved by developing and adopting code of ethics for library professionals in India.
