Investigations on erosion and erosion–corrosion behavior of BA35 and BA22 brasses were made in drinking water at impingement angles of 30, 60 and 90° using a recirculating submerged impinging jet device recently developed in our laboratory. This study was conducted by using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique. The diagrams, in the Nyquist and Bode representations were characterized by two-time constants. Scanning electron microscope and optical microscope were useful to look for the prevailing conditions of material removal in the absence and presence of erosion. The BA35 brass exhibited the highest erosion-corrosion resistance when compared to BA22 brass. Furthermore, BA35 brass was more stable against pitting than BA22 brass under corrosion–erosion process where BA22 brass exemplified corrosive damage, erosion zones and larger cracks clearly seen. The highest erosion–corrosion rate was observed at the impact angle of 30° owing to combined effects of sheer and normal stresses. In addition, the total erosion-corrosion rate (T) as well as the erosion rate (E) were the dominant patterns whereas the corrosion rate (C) was slight, which could reveal a positive synergism at all impingement angles.
