An analysis of the trends of research in library and information science doctoral dissertation awarded in universities of Madhya Pradesh between 1982 and 2022, an analysis of the level of the library and information science in broad and narrow subject areas as well as research, development patterns and productivity of universities. To find out the current trends, the present study helps in acquainting the LIS research community with the current scenario and direction of research in this era of information and communication technology. University data analysis leads to very good results and conclusions for knowing the current trends in research in the subject of library and information science. Features of evaluating the effectiveness of a mentor's work by company employees

Introduction. In the era of information technology, when information becomes available and narrow specialization becomes the norm, mentoring remains an important mechanism for the transfer of unique skills and knowledge. In addition, through the mentoring institute, not only structured expert knowledge is relayed, but also a significant amount of professional practice is transferred, which forms the mentee's readiness for real challenges. In this regard, the analysis of the effectiveness of mentoring in modern Russia is becoming an extremely urgent task. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of mentoring (using the example of a Russian company). An additional task of the study was the primary adaptation of M. Yukawa's English-language questionnaire on evaluating the effectiveness of mentoring. Materials and methods. The online survey was conducted in the fall of 2023, 1,356 representatives of a Russian company took part in it, the average age of respondents was 17.67 years (SD = 2.02) (40.6% were men, 59.4% were women). The toolkit included a 13-point questionnaire to assess the effectiveness of mentoring by M. Yukawa, a personality questionnaire of the ‟Big Five”, as well as a questionnaire to measure the emotional empathy of M. Mehrabyan and N. Epstein. In addition, the questionnaire was supplemented with a question to assess the effectiveness of mentoring. Motivation was also assessed: both the mentor and the mentee (self-assessment of motivation). Results of the study. Mentees refer to the most developed qualities of a mentor as the ability to listen and have experience, and to the least – the ability to find a balance between work and personal life, as well as an interest in expanding the circle of professional contacts of the mentee and advice in building a career. Women were significantly more likely to agree that their mentor was available to solve all issues. Older mentees, as well as those with more experience or a higher level of education, were more likely to rate the mentor as more effective. Mentors with a high level of empathy and openness to experience become receptive to the demonstration of professional experience by a mentor, according to the data obtained. The mentoring process as a whole is not rated very highly by the mentee, and the mentor's motivation is rated higher than the mentee's self-assessment of motivation. This indicates the hidden reserves of the mentoring mechanism. The analysis of correlations demonstrated the expected positive relationship between the subjective assessment of the effectiveness of the mentoring process with all the statements of the mentoring effectiveness assessment questionnaire. In addition, the mentoring effectiveness assessment questionnaire showed high internal consistency. Conclusion. The conducted research on the effectiveness of mentoring and the results obtained pose new challenges to clarify many aspects of the mentoring phenomenon related to the motivation and empathy of the mentored, as well as the specifics of working with young personnel who do not have work experience.

Hybrid control of Turing instability and bifurcation for spatial-temporal propagation of computer virus

ABSTRACT In this era of information technology, information leakage and file corruption due to computer virus intrusion have been serious issues. How to detect and prevent the spread of the computer virus is the major challenge we are facing now. To target this problem, a class of virus propagation models with hybrid control scheme are formulated to investigate the dynamic evolution and prevention from a spatial-temporal perspective in this paper. Diffusion-induced Turing instability is detected in response to the computer virus propagation. The introduction of hybrid control scheme can effective suppress Turing instability and turn the propagation system back to a stable state. And then, the time delay is selected as the bifurcation parameter. If the time delay exceeds the bifurcation threshold, the propagation will be destabilised and a Hopf bifurcation will occur. The hybrid control tactic can not only regulate the occurrence of Hopf bifurcation well, but also optimise the properties of bifurcating period solutions. In the end, the correctness and validity of the theoretical results are verified via numerical simulations.

Application of IoT audio technology based on sensor networks in English speaking teaching system

In the era of information technology, the exponential growth of data volume has compelled users to entrust their data to database service providers for efficient management. While traditional methods such as user authentication, security auditing, and access control have been implemented to safeguard data security across databases, cloud servers may face security challenges due to excessive internal administrator permissions. The audio technology of the Internet of Things (IoT) offers numerous advantages, including high bandwidth, short data transmission time, long transmission distance, and cost-effectiveness. It has found widespread applications in military, technological, industrial, and everyday life settings. With the advancements in modern information technology and the development and enhancement of wireless radio frequency technology in the IoT sector, IoT-based wireless audio interaction systems utilizing Wi-Fi have gradually become integrated into people's lives. These systems have enriched people's daily experiences and are increasingly popular among consumers. This paper, based on the theory of functional applied linguistics, combs the basic theoretical framework and the practical application prospect of functional Applied Linguistics of systemic language, especially emphasizes the important influence and application enlightenment of systemic functional linguistics on language teaching, and combines the "Recent Development Zone" The basic concepts of contemporary language and literature education, such as scaffolding, are summarized and analyzed. Redefining Orientalism Through “Squid Game”: Sentiment Analysis And Word Cloud R Studio

This article aims to redefine Edward Said's definition of orientalism in the era of contemporary communication and information technology through the comments column for the film Squid Game on the IMDB (internet movie database) website. This paper argues that the Orientalist attitude of a dominant English-speaking country such as the United States emerged as a consequence of its white superior hegemony. In the midst of this orientalist attitude, today's communication and information technology has become a discursive channel for the world community to conduct ongoing discussions on films by Asians. By using the text in the comment column for the film Squid Game on IMDB.com as a case example, this article provides a discussion regarding the need to rethink the conceptual definition of orientalism today. This paper uses a digital research methodology with analysis tools using R Studio with two types of analysis, namely word cloud and sentiment analysis. By utilizing the programming language functions available in R Studio, this paper mines text from the IMDB.com comments column for the film Squid Game. This article contains results obtained from digital research methods, namely the Squid Game comments column focuses on characters, plot, acting and story. Meanwhile, sentiment analysis shows the dominance of positive sentiment and some negative sentiment. Therefore, this article argues that the battle between negative and positive sentiments in the Squid Game comments column is a means of resetting the negative stigma towards Asian films and eroding the orientalist attitudes that the West oppresses towards "the East."

Laptop Recommender System Using the Hybrid of Ontology-Based and Collaborative Filtering

In the era of ever-evolving information technology, choosing the best laptop can be a complicated task for many users. The increasing complexity of technical specifications is often an obstacle, especially for users who need help understanding them. In addressing this challenge, we propose a solution: a laptop recommendation system that considers users' preferences and functional needs. We designed this system to help users choose a laptop that suits their daily functional needs. This system uses a form of Conversational Recommender System (CRS) by combining Ontology-Based Recommender System Filtering and Collaborative Filtering (CF). Ontology-Based Recommender System Filtering ensures a strong relationship between functional needs and technical specifications of laptops, making it easier for users to identify the right laptop. At the same time, Collaborative Filtering (CF) can provide diversity to the recommended products by using similar user preference data. We evaluate the accuracy of our system by calculating the success rate of recommendation accuracy with the accuracy metric, and the evaluation results show that the success rate of recommendation accuracy reaches 93.33%. Our system is highly effective in assisting users in choosing a laptop that suits their functional needs. With our laptop recommendation system, users can confidently select the correct laptop without being burdened by technical specifications, thus making their lives easier and more productive.

Education Management Strategies to Maximize the Effectiveness of Information and Communication Technology Integration in Teaching and Learning Processes

The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become a key factor in driving this change. This research aims to elucidate educational management strategies to maximize the effectiveness of integrating information and communication technology in the teaching and learning process. The research method used in this study is a literature review with a qualitative approach. Data sources are derived from Google Scholar for the period 2004-2024. This research utilizes Google Scholar as the primary source to obtain relevant, credible, original, and publicly available articles for systematic analysis. The study results indicate that in the era of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development, the integration of ICT in education is crucial to enhance learning effectiveness. To achieve this, focused and comprehensive educational management strategies are highly important. These strategies should be based on a strong understanding of the role of ICT in learning, integration of ICT into the curriculum, training and support for educators and students, development of technological infrastructure, development of supportive policies, inclusive and sustainable approaches in ICT strategy development, as well as collaboration among educational institutions, government, industry, and the community

Decision tree based prediction system for word difficulty classification

In the era of information technology in education, personalised learning is becoming increasingly important, especially in the English learning process. An important aspect of facilitating personalised learning in English reading is the use of a reliable objective word difficulty classification system to quickly capture and understand reading difficulties and core concepts. The aim of this study was to use decision tree modelling to predict the general proficiency of the public in words with different attributes. In addition, a K-Means clustering algorithm was used to categorise words into five classes based on their level of difficulty. By adopting this approach, the prediction of word difficulty becomes both fast and objective, and by testing the accuracy of the model, it was found that our model achieved an accuracy of 0.95. Accurate classification of word difficulty will play an important role in facilitating personalised learning in English reading and improve the efficiency of English reading.

Privacy Right and its challenges in the age of technology

Privacy is a legal right that holds a special place in international laws and the laws of various countries. It has always been protected by lawmakers in the international and domestic arena. The era of information and digital technology has brought about significant changes in society, along with threats to individuals' privacy. Understanding the challenges and threats to privacy in this era is of great importance. The aim of this research is to examine the challenges to privacy and instances of its violation through technology in the digital age. The research question is what are the challenges to privacy in the age of technology, and in what cases has technology led to the violation of individuals' privacy? This research utilizes an analytical-descriptive method and employs library tools for data collection. The findings of this research show that technology is one of the biggest threats to privacy in the current era. Instances such as data breaches, phishing attacks, cyber extortion, social engineering, identity theft, unauthorized access to information through insecure public Wi-Fi networks, information vulnerability through the Internet of Things, exposure of information to the public, invasion of privacy through data mining and profiling, and cyber espionage all contribute to the violation of individuals' privacy.

Mediating effects of NLP-based parameters on the readability of crowdsourced wikipedia articles

In this era of information and communication technology, a large population relies on the Internet to gather information. One of the most popular information sources on the Internet is Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia that provides a wide range of information to its users. However, there have been concerns about the readability of information on Wikipedia time and again. The readability of the text is defined as the ease of understanding the underlying text. Past studies have analyzed the readability of Wikipedia articles with the help of conventional readability metrics, such as the Flesch-Kincaid readability score and the Automatic Readability Index (ARI). Such metrics only consider the surface-level parameters, such as the number of words, sentences, and paragraphs in the text, to quantify the readability. However, the readability of the text must also take into account the quality of the text. In this study, we consider many new NLP-based parameters capturing the quality of the text, such as lexical diversity, semantic diversity, lexical complexity, and semantic complexity and analyze their impact on the readability of Wikipedia articles using artificial neural networks. Besides NLP parameters, the crowdsourced parameters also affect the readability, and therefore, we also analyze the impact of crowdsourced parameters and observe that the crowdsourced parameters not only influence the readability scores but also affect the NLP parameters of the text. Additionally, we investigate the mediating effect of NLP parameters that connect the crowdsourced parameters to the readability of the text. The results show that the impact of crowdsourced parameters on readability is partially due to the profound effect of NLP-based parameters.

Research on the Application Status and Existing Problems of Network Platform in College Foreign Language Teaching

The popularization and application of the network teaching platform is an important part of the information construction of colleges and universities in the information technology era, and it is also the embodiment of the important role of educational practice technology in college education and teaching reform. The project adopts the questionnaire survey method, combined with the current situation of college foreign language education reform, and studies the application of network platform in college foreign language teaching. This paper analyzes the application status and existing problems of the network platform in college foreign language teaching, and draws the conclusion that only the deep integration of the network teaching platform and college foreign language teaching can effectively improve the teaching effect, and puts forward improvement strategies for the existing problems.

While hospitals have made efforts to promote health and prevent disease, their role in providing health information is limited. The information provided by doctors and medical institutions often does not cover all relevant factors. In the era of rapid information technology, the need for precise and up-to-date information is increasingly becoming a priority. Communities and public institutions are beginning to utilize technology, especially the internet, to gain better access to health information. However, uncontrolled distribution of information can trigger new problems. Therefore, it is important to have organized, clear and precise information to support effective decision-making. An analysis of the potential of online media as a tool to change health behavior is necessary, especially with the widespread penetration of the internet through various devices, including smartphones and tablets.

An ontology‐based semantic description model of ubiquitous map images

AbstractMap images with various themes and cartographic representations have become ubiquitous on the Internet. Such ubiquitously and openly accessible data, named ubiquitous map images in this study, are a potential resource for many geographic information applications such as cartographic design. However, there is a semantic gap between the simple physical form and the complex connotation of ubiquitous map images, which hinders their further applications. To mitigate such barrier, this article develops an ontology‐based semantic description model for ubiquitous map images. First, we discuss the design concerns and principles of the semantic description model of ubiquitous map images. Second, three semantic layers of the semantic description model are proposed, that is, image semantic description layer, cognitive tool layer, and information source layer, and detailed semantic description items are defined for each layer. Furthermore, a formalized semantic description model for ubiquitous map images is developed using ontology construction tools, which lays the foundation for automated and fine‐grained reasoning with the information embedded in map images. We construct a small test dataset consisting of weather maps, and use three types of constraints, namely “time‐topic,” “region‐topic,” and “map auxiliary elements” for the semantic retrieval experiments. The experiments show that the proposed semantic ontology model can enable complex semantic retrieval of ubiquitous map images. Finally, the scalability of the model is discussed from three perspectives: the depth of description, the combination with intelligent methods, and the integration with other open knowledge bases. The proposed model provides a semantic label system for applying data‐driven approaches to decode ubiquitous map images, which also paves the path to the development of cartographic theory in the era of information and communications technologies.

A Review of Deep Learning Applications in Tunneling and Underground Engineering in China

With the advent of the era of big data and information technology, deep learning (DL) has become a hot trend in the research field of artificial intelligence (AI). The use of deep learning methods for parameter inversion, disease identification, detection, surrounding rock classification, disaster prediction, and other tunnel engineering problems has also become a new trend in recent years, both domestically and internationally. This paper briefly introduces the development process of deep learning. By reviewing a number of published papers on the application of deep learning in tunnel engineering over the past 20 years, this paper discusses the intelligent application of deep learning algorithms in tunnel engineering, including collapse risk assessment, water inrush prediction, crack identification, structural stability evaluation, and seepage erosion in mountain tunnels, urban subway tunnels, and subsea tunnels. Finally, it explores the future challenges and development prospects of deep learning in tunnel engineering.
