The Kestrel Drone

Artificial intelligence (AI) is redefining roads and skyways with advanced mobility technologies such as autonomous driving and Urban Air Mobility (UAM), suggesting a new paradigm for human mobility. This project sheds new light on drone mobility technology in terms of environmental aesthetics, focusing on global ecological issues. The Kestrel Drone is proposed based on a speculative scenario where "birds" become front-line users of drone technology and share their air routes with drones. At the exhibition hall, five Kestrel Drones were equipped with bird-mimicking wings and an AI tracker. The drones simulated a guiding bird for resident birds in a city. This project aims to evolve AI into a technology that has various parallel values that can coexist with non-human values, thus expanding the possibilities of technology.

Redirecting Movements and Recreating Environment with Visually Oriented Wayfinding Signage System: A Case Study of Fine and Applied Art Building, Olabisi Onabanjo, Ibogun Campus

This study focused on redirecting movements and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of an academic environment through the development of a visually-oriented wayfinding system. The paper enunciates the importance of a wayfinding system in identifying places and coordinating human movements in space. People visiting built environments are desirous of accomplishing their aim of visiting such a place within the short possible time and devoid of negative feelings or spatial anxiety. The relevance of a functional wayfinding system in an academic environment where students and staff need to navigate the complex environment without experiencing any spatial stress. The paper explores colour psychology, typography, shape and user experience to develop a wayfinding system for the Fine and Applied Art Building, Olabisi Onabanjo Campus, Ibogun. The research methodology adopted for the study is product development and survey. User perception of the wayfinding system was sampled using an open questionnaire administered to three hundred and thirteen students and staff on campus. The result was analyzed using the Linkert scale criteria. Results outcomes indicated that there is consistency in the interior and exterior signage colours, textual information on the signs is bold and descriptive, wayfinding system accentuates the environmental aesthetics.

Peningkatan Inovasi Superlizer Menggunakan Biokatalisator EM4 untuk Mempercepat Pertumbuhan Tanaman Cabai


 Based on data obtained from BPS (Central Statistics Agency) in 2012 the number of farmers is 48% of the total workforce in Indonesia of around 49.8 million people (Alexandratos and Bruinsma 2012 p: 24). This situation is not enough to make Indonesia a prosperous and developed country. This is due to the low level of productivity of agricultural products because it is not supported by the use of good and environmentally friendly fertilizers. Farmers still often use chemical fertilizers which are capable of speeding up the planting period, but on the other hand in the long run it will actually have a risky negative impact. According to BPS dataon fisheries, shrimp production in Indonesia can reach 200,000 tons per year. The shrimp shell contains protein (25% - 40%), chitin (15% - 20%), and calcium carbonate (45% - 50%). The quality of shrimp shell waste based on nutrient content and nutrients is quite good and suitablefor use as liquid fertilizer, but until now this waste has not been used optimally, causing environmental pollution, especially odors and bad environmental aesthetics. The purpose of this study was to determine the process of making liquid organic fertilizer from shrimp shell waste (SUPERLIZER) and the effect of SUPERLIZER on the growth of chili plants. The method used in this study was to use 5 sample experiments with a comparison of the composition of shrimp shells and EM4 bacteria, namely (A) 200gram:100ml, (B) 300gram:100ml, (C) 400gram:100ml, (D) 500gram:100ml, (E) ) 600gram:100ml also used chemical fertilizer and water control which was tested for 10 days. The best results were obtained for sample (E) witha ratio of 600gram:100ml which gave a 5 cm increase in length compared to chemical fertilizers which only gave a 2.8 cm increase in length.

Messy Affairs with Imagined Swamp Creatures: The Human-Nature Relationship in Swamp Monster Narratives

This article examines what kinds of expressions the human-nature relationship in mire environments have taken in the context of imagined swamp creature narratives, and what the presence of swamp monsters reveals about the wider changes in the human-nature relationship in mires and other wetlands. The theoretical framework of this study is based on environmental humanities, including environmental aesthetics and ecocritical theory. The analysis deals with a range of fictional narratives (comic books, TV-series, literature for adults and children, and video performances) and folklore which feature diverse swamp creatures. Mires have often been considered as strange and fearsome, and both mires and monsters are linked to anomalies and burdened by negative preconceptions. However, attitudes towards mires have slowly changed. For example, along with monsters who sometimes transform into heroes or non-human friends, people’s fears of unpredictable mires are now transforming into fears for these unique environments. In conclusion, the imagined swamp creatures reflect the human-nature relationship of the mires, and at the same time, actively transform it.

Application of Biomi Technology in Processing Livestock Waste into Quality Organic Fertilizer in “Sekar Pasti Wangi” Livestock Group, Petiga Village, Marga District, Tabanan Regency

Cattle husbandry produces a substantial quantity of cow manure that has not been utilized to its full potential. To date, cow manure has only been stored without proper processing, resulting in environmental problems such as an offensive odor and damage to the environment's aesthetics. According to the results of the survey, participants lack the necessary knowledge and skills to convert livestock waste, such as cow dung, into valuable and useful organic fertilizer. The goal is to impart knowledge regarding the transmutation of cow manure into high-quality organic fertilizer and its use on plants. In addition to observing the impact of technology's application on partners, the method used to conduct face-to-face activities, counselling, and direct practice will involve observing the impact of technology's application on partners. These measures will be implemented progressively. First, we will provide fundamental guidance regarding biomedical technology for the production of high-quality organic fertilizer from animal waste. Second, we will provide hands-on training on the use of biomes in the production of high-quality organic fertilizer from livestock waste and conduct multiple evaluations. The livestock producers of Sekar Pasti Wangi are physically capable of producing high-quality organic fertilizer. In terms of the economy, the sale of organic fertilizers has increased the income of farmers. Due to the conversion of cow manure into organic fertilizer, the environmental pollution produced by cow manure is reduced by 95% as a result of this activity.
 

Singapore’s postcolonial ethnic revival in parks design

Either led by state, market or civil society, ‘ethnic revival’ — a process associated with multiculturalism — helped countries respond to last century’s challenges of immigration and identity formation. In postcolonial states, politics of multiculturalism negotiated colonial policies and their expressions in the built environment. In postcolonial Singapore, ethnic revival informed design and planning of its public park system. What aesthetic was used in postcolonial Singapore? How precisely does it reveal political ideas? Were these ideas and aesthetics general or specific to Singapore? How did local history influence that aesthetics? The paper situates Singapore’s postcolonial parks design, with its use of ‘multiethnic’ popular symbolism, within the discourse around the aesthetics of fast-growing urban environments of the mid-nineteen hundreds. It examines its contradictions and merits, casting a light on the consequences of postmodern culture for socio-political and economic gain: a state’s negotiation of local history and culture versus globalized trends; and the commodification of landscapes for tourism purposes and consequent ephemerality of urban imagery. The research examines the design of over 400 parks built between independence (1960s) to the late 1990s — the majority of those (90%) are sited in public housing estates, where 81% of the population of over 5.6 million lives.

Healing Soundscapes im Krankenhaus

Hospitals increasingly becoming a focus of public interest as places of health promotion. With regard to a conducive acoustic environment design, music therapists can work closely with other professional groups to ensure that appropriate quality criteria and measures are developed. With reference to current research, the article derives the need to improve the aesthetics of hospital environments and positions the topic of research in the field of healing environments. It then introduces the concepts and approaches of Soundscape, Atmosphere, Environmental Music Therapy and Ambient Music, which essentially shape the interdisciplinary teaching and research project Healing Soundscapes. Healing Soundscapes aim to develop Musical Soundscape Interventions for specific hospital areas that positively affect the atmosphere. In the process, computer-aided generative musical compositions are played over loudspeakers. The concept of Healing Soundscapes is discussed, previous research is summarised and its further development is outlined.

A case study of urban design for wellbeing and mental health in Lagos, Nigeria

AbstractBackgroundThere are increasing interests in the impact and contribution of urban planning and design on mental health disorders. However, studies are scarce around such concepts within the densely populated urban city of Lagos State, Nigeria. This study explores the literature and expands on experts' opinions on mental health within Lagos’s urban design and planning.MethodThe reviewed literature presents mental health in the context of Lagos’s past, present and future urban planning and design; and identified those factors in the government policies on urban planning and design towards improving mental health. Next, a qualitative analysis of opinions extracted following a semi‐structured interview with experts was presented.ResultOur findings show that improving mental health in Lagos requires awareness, a safe and aesthetic environment, access to public spaces, reliable transportation, affordable housing and wetland protection.ConclusionAlthough this study suggests that political and socioeconomic factors limit Lagos state’s urban planning and design towards improved mental health, these factors provide opportunities for the state to be a model in Nigeria.

The Hellenic landscape and the renewable energy sources. a social survey (2022) and some considerations

The aim of this paper is to underline the urgent need for the application of R.E.S. in Greece, the related problems regarding the natural environment, the archaeological sites, the traditional architecture, and the existing contemporary urban environment. Some references to the theoretical approaches of the subject of environmental Aesthetics are also mentioned. The method to achieve conclusions has been a social survey of the opinions of Greek people, regarding their surrounding environment and the application of R.E.S.. Concluding the economic factor proves to be very important, primarily at the individual level and then at the social or national level, and the aesthetic factor seems to follow the economic one, but is also very important.

Indigenous and Local Knowledge and Aesthetics: Towards an Intergenerational Aesthetics of Nature

In a recent paper, Allen Carlson moves away from a purely scientific–cognitive framework for environmental aesthetics towards a ‘combination position’ based on the ecoaesthetics theorised by Xiangzhan Cheng. Carlson argues that only an aesthetics informed by ecological knowledge can offer the correct foundations for the continued relevance of environmental aesthetics to environmental ethics. However, closer analysis of Cheng's theory of ecoaesthetics reveals a number of problems related to questions of anthropocentrism and in particular, the issue of an ethic based on love. In this paper, I offer an alternative approach for the future of environmental aesthetics in the form of an intergenerational aesthetics based on Indigenous and Local Knowledge (ILK).

Integrasi Aktivitas Belajar Tri Hita Karana Berorientasi 4C dalam Mata Kuliah Konsep Dasar IPA SD

This study aims to integrate the 4C-oriented Tri Hita Karana learning activities in the Elementary Science Basic Concepts course in: (i) initial activities; (ii) core activities; and (iii) closing activities. The results of this literature review, namely: (i) the integration of learning activities in the initial activities carried out by paying attention to the learning environment, learning resources, and the readiness of educators and students from both psychological and cognitive aspects; (ii) the integration of learning activities into the core activities is carried out by conveying learning objectives, presenting natural phenomena, carrying out technical learning according to the design or lesson plans, and concluding lessons; and (iii) the integration of learning activities in closing activities is carried out by maintaining the learning environment, assessing the learning process, and submitting the next learning plan. The three forms of learning activities implement Tri Hita Karana-based educational and teaching values, namely religious, spiritual, humanist, democratic, nationalist, environmental aesthetics, and ecological and are oriented towards creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration, communication ( 4C)

Environmental aesthetics and professional development for university teachers in China

Recently, research has increasingly focused on environmental aesthetics and the professional development of teachers. By improving aesthetic quality, including perceptions and experiences, teachers can effectively master and develop professional knowledge and skills. Based on the ecological systems theory of environmental aesthetics, this study primarily explores the impact of the perceptions of Chinese teachers of environmental aesthetics and the impact of aesthetic experience on the professional development of teachers, as well as the mediating effects of aesthetic experience. The study sample consisted of 1800 teachers from 30 universities across China. A total of 1479 valid questionnaires were returned, and a structural equation model was used for validation. The results of the study found that the perception of Chinese teachers about the environmental aesthetics of schools exerted a positive effect on aesthetic experience and professional development and that aesthetic experience exerted a positive effect on professional development. Last, aesthetic experience exerted a mediating effect on the relationship between the perception of teachers about the environmental aesthetics of schools and professional development. The findings suggest that schools promote the professional development of teachers through their environmental aesthetics and the aesthetic experience of teachers, highlighting the importance of school environmental aesthetics for professional development.

Patient and family members' experiences with language and environment when receiving bad news: A qualitative exploratory study.

Receiving bad news about one's health can be devastating, yet little is known about how the therapeutic nature of the environment where bad news is delivered affects the experience. The current study aimed to explore how patients and their families were affected by the language and the built, natural, social, and symbolic environments when receiving bad news, through the Therapeutic Landscapes theoretical framework. Patients diagnosed with a life-limiting illness living in regional Victoria who had a hospital admission within 24months and a diagnostic/prognostic conversation were invited to participate, as well as a family member who witnessed the conversation. Participants were recruited through social media and snowballing, resulting in 14 online semi-structured interviews being conducted between November 2021 and March 2022, audio-recorded, and transcribed verbatim. Reflexive thematic analysis was used to develop the themes. Fourteen semi-structured interviews were conducted with women aged between 30 and 77 years. Interviews lasted between 45 and 120minutes, with an average of 69minutes, and were conducted online or via mobile phone. Four central themes were developed: "Hearing bad news for the first time," "Preferences for having hard conversations," "Creating a sense of safety for ongoing care," and "The therapeutic nature of the ward." This body of work will help inform practice and future policy regarding bad news delivery and the design and aesthetics of environments where bad news is delivered. It is essential that bad news is delivered within a quiet, calm, and emotionally safe environment within a supportive therapeutic relationship.

Environmental Virtue Aesthetics

AbstractHow should we characterize the interaction between moral and aesthetic values in the context of environmental aesthetics? This question is important given the urgency of many environmental problems and the particular role played by aesthetic value in our experience of environment. To address this question, we develop a model of Environmental Virtue Aesthetics (EVA) that, we argue, offers a promising alternative to current theories in environmental aesthetics with respect to the relationship between aesthetics and ethics. EVA counters environmental aesthetic theories that focus more narrowly on scientific knowledge and ground aesthetic value in ways that obfuscate pluralistic modes of appreciation of and relationships with natural and semi-natural environments. To develop EVA, we work with a revised notion of respect and engage with ideas concerning the development of aesthetic sensibilities, care, and virtuous aesthetic appreciation. EVA has the potential to support forms of human-nature co-flourishing, as well as constituting an aesthetic grounding for ecological citizenship.

Environmental Aesthetics and Environmental Justice in Jonathan Edwards's Personal Narrative and John Woolman's Journal

This essay examines the relationship between Christian theology, environmental aesthetics, and environmental justice in colonial America. As opposed to the work of secular writers from the early republic like J. Hector St. John de Crèvecoeur and Thomas Jefferson, the Christian environmental aesthetics of Jonathan Edwards and John Woolman have potential to address questions of environmental justice in American literary history, such as tenant exploitation, African enslavement, and Indigenous displacement. Edwards, however, worked in a pastoral literary tradition, which limited his ability to imagine environmental justice due to his commitment to the doctrine of election. Woolman, on the other hand, worked in a tradition of agrarian jeremiad that was able to connect a Christian theology of creation with a concern for those marginalized by agrarian capitalism. This article reconfigures the standard account of pastoral and agrarian writing in American literature, foregrounding how Christian environmental aesthetics can both fail and succeed in imagining environmental justice.

MODERN AESTHETIC EDUCATION: CURRENT PROBLEMS AND MAIN TRENDS

The article discusses the main problems and trends in the development of modern aesthetic education in Russia. It is noted that Russian aesthetic education is currently undergoing a number of positive innovative transformations associated with the processes of strengthening the virtual component in artistic culture and the social sphere. A number of scientific events, such as international conferences and the Russian Aesthetic Congress, held over the past five years, have served as an active incentive for the development of theoretical and practical aesthetics and aesthetic education. The current trends of modern aesthetics are identified: neuroesthetics, cultural aesthetics, environmental aesthetics, somaesthetics and synesthetic area, which have a stimulating effect on the development of aesthetic education. The special role and prospects of using synesthetic methodologies in modern aesthetics and aesthetic education are indicated, since in the conditions of digitalization of culture, synesthesia as a phenomenon of nonverbal associative thinking becomes one of the main means of preserving the integrity of world perception, an important method of developing flexibility of thinking and the ability of imagination.

The Aesthetics of the Contemporary Urban Landscape and its Implications for Well-Being

In an increasingly urban world, more citizens are exposed to urban landscapes, including the aesthetics of these environments. Despite psychological research supporting the existence of a positive relationship between environmental aesthetics and well-being, the aesthetics of contemporary urban landscapes (UL) are subordinated to variables such as functionality and economic redeeming. The purpose was to study how citizens perceive contemporary UL in terms of aesthetics and how this relates to well-being. Using photographs of UL in an online questionnaire, quantitative and qualitative ratings of aesthetics and well-being were obtained of 63 participants. Results showed that contemporary UL were perceived as less aesthetic than traditional UL and associated with words suggesting a negative connotation. Analyses could not confirm a positive relationship between UL aesthetics and well-being. A qualitative analysis revealed a tendency to evaluate well-being negatively in relation to contemporary urban landscapes. As these findings suggest that aesthetics should be considered in urban planning, further research should focus on the possible relation between UL aesthetics and well-being.

Environmental issues including climate change provide difficulties for landscaping, plant selection, and environment aesthetics. In addition to employing landscape trees, adding lovely blooming shrubs may improve the landscaping's aesthetic value. In this article Cephalotaxus drupacea Sieb. et Zucc. The bioecology, decorativeness and breeding technology of Danakbosh zarnab are discussed, as well as practical experiences. The results of studying the morphobiological characteristics of Cephalotaxus drupacea seeds are presented. It has been shown that the size, shape, and texture of the seeds serve as a diagnostic feature. These features of Cephalotaxus drupacea indicate a high level of adaptation to environmental factors. It is an evergreen ornamental shrub, 10-15 m tall, belonging to the Cephalotaxaceae family. Homeland - Central China, Korea, East India, Japan. Shade-loving, cold-resistant. According to AL Takhtadjian, Cephalotaxaceae family, Cephalotaxus genus consists of 6 species, which were widespread in the Northern Hemisphere in ancient geological times. Currently, this species is distributed only in Asia, namely: East India, Central and South China, Taiwan Islands, Korea and Japan.

„Siedzę przed kompem”. Jak wygląda praca w cyfrowym kapitalizmie?

The author is interested in the canonical visual forms that accompany labour in digital capitalism - that is, an economic-information-cognitive order based on screens, information and attention. He therefore analyses what labour looks like today where screens are necessary to perform it; what are the visual dimensions of that labour; how labour is represented by artists and popular culture. In the article, he discusses the liberalisation of the aesthetics of the remote working environment as a place that does not belong to the employer; the fetishisation of the aesthetics of the workstation and office space in marketing discourses; the simulation of physical presence through visual effects; the compulsion of visualisation in work communication; ‘Zoom fatigue’ and corporate worker fatigue; and the visual dimensions of waiting. He illustrates her discussion of these issues with examples from cultural texts.
