Gender equality in education: an analysis of entrepreneurial behavior in technological colleges in a developing country

ABSTRACT The article analysed the differences in the influence of entrepreneurial characteristics on entrepreneurial intention according to gender in technological higher education education in a developing country. The methodology used was quantitative, with multivariate data analysis through structural equation modelling. The sample consisted of 604 students of technological higher education from the São Paulo State Technological Colleges. The results proved that the female gender had a more intense influence on self-efficacy and persistence influence on entrepreneurial intention. The male gender had a more significant influence on the relationship between sociability and entrepreneurial intention. For technological higher education institutions to implement an effective entrepreneurial education, it is fundamental to encourage entrepreneurial characteristics differently between genders. Developing and fostering entrepreneurship among women in higher technological education requires a deeper understanding of the female entrepreneurial profile.

Synchronous and Asynchronous Online Classrooms in Tourism Vocational High School in Indonesia: Technological Applications and Challenges

There has been an increasingly dominant use of technology in education institutions, yet limited studies holistically investigate the utilization of technological applications in tourism vocational high schools. This research explored the synchronous and asynchronous technological applications used and the challenges experienced by teachers and students of a tourism vocational high school in Indonesia, mainly in hotel and culinary online classrooms. This research employed a qualitative approach. Data were collected by observing four classes in two vocational schools in Yogyakarta and Bali. Interviews with five teachers and five students were also conducted on a voluntary basis. The findings indicate that teachers and students used various technological applications like Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Team, Cisco WebEx, Discord,and Skype for synchronous online learning. They also utilized more technological applications such as WhatsApp, YouTube, Google Classroom, Google Form, Telegram, Moodle, Screencast-O-Matic, Facebook, Instagram, Quizzes, Kahoot, and Twitterfor their asynchronous online learning. Both teachers and students faced technical, pedagogical, psychological, and personal challenges such as an unstable internet connection, a lack of technological literacy, incompatible gadgets, limited participation, work overload, demotivation, and a lack of focus on learning. To conclude, a number of technological applications were used to facilitate learning in hotel and culinary departments, even though there were many challenges that came with their usage. The results of this research can be used by relevant stakeholders preparing for future learning, especially in vocational high schools.

ІННОВАЦІЙНІ ПІДХОДИ У ПІДГОТОВЦІ ПЕДАГОГІЧНИХ ТА КЕРІВНИХ КАДРІВ ОСВІТИ ЗАСОБАМИ ІНФОРМАЦІЙНИХ ТЕХНОЛОГІЙ

The article proves the importance of using modern information technologies in the training of pedagogical and management staff in the sphere of education. The meaning of information technologies in the process of forming the head’s of the educational institution information culture is defined. The analysis of the peculiarities of its formation is given. New applications of information technologies adapted to work in educational institutions and the possibility of their successful implementation are presented. The article suggests that information processes are aimed at forming a unique open educational environment, ensuring its accessibility, providing opportunities for updating, developing and improving the quality and efficiency of educational services. The use of the information technology approach is based on the LLL (lifelong learning) paradigm that implies the concept of continuous education, its internationalization and diversification. The efficiency of the educational process in the training of teachers and heads of educational institutions depends on the high-quality content of electronic educational resources. Electronic resources are components of the educational process and important parts of the information and educational environment. The most important directions of its development are content, technical support and maintenance of information sites, monitoring the level of information and professional competence of pedagogical workers, providing informational assistance to teachers in creating individual sites, improving their computer and technical literacy. The use of new models, information and communication technologies in educational institutions makes possible to create a unique information environment where educational regulatory documents, educational and methodical materials, monographs, tutorials are placed, which altogether can help pedagogical workers to improve the educational process and increase the level of pedagogical skills. The use of educational information and communication technologies in terms of innovative models implies the use of electronic lecturers, simulators, textbooks, encyclopedias; development of situational role-playing and intellectual games using artificial intelligence; modeling of different processes and phenomena; distance learning; conducting interactive educational teleconferences; construction of systems of control and verification of students' knowledge and skills (use of control test programs); creation and maintenance of educational institutions websites; creating presentations; carrying out design and research activities.

Effect of virtual reality on perceptions of usability, suitability, satisfaction, and self-efficacy among architecture and design university students

Few empirical studies have explored the effect of using VR technology in educational institutions in Jordan. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of using the VR gravity sketch tool on Architecture and Design university students’ perceptions of usability, suitability, satisfaction, and self-efficacy in Jordan. A pre–post-test control group was used and 161 students (81 in the intervention group and 80 in the control group) from Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan enrolled in the Free Drawing course were recruited. Findings showed a significant difference between the intervention and control groups post-VR simulation for usability, suitability satisfaction, and self-efficacy among students in the intervention group and there was a significant difference in the aforementioned variables between both groups. Thus, this study suggested that VR simulation was effective in training architecture and design students. Therefore, it is necessary to integrate VR into the educational curriculum as a learning strategy for students.

Enhancing sustainable development in education: Reality of cloud computing applications in activating e-learning at King Faisal University

After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world turned towards intensifying the implementation of modern educational technologies in general, especially those related to remote teaching and learning. These technologies have proven to save learners considerable time and effort, particularly in emergencies that necessitate a shift from traditional to remote education systems. They offer easy and secure methods for remote teaching and learning. One of the most significant modern technologies in this context is cloud computing, a term that refers to on-demand access to computer resources and systems over the network. Cloud computing can deliver a range of integrated computer services without being constrained by local resources, aiming to facilitate user interaction. The successful use and integration of cloud computing applications in educational institutions are key indicators of achieving outstanding educational quality. This includes attaining the highest possible levels of sustainable development competencies in education. The effectiveness of utilizing these applications is contingent upon the proper management of educational technology applications and their flexible and rapid activation from any location through the Internet. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the current utilization and deployment of cloud computing applications in activating e-learning at King Faisal University and provide insight into realizing the desired outcomes of implementing one of the most crucial e-learning technologies as a means of achieving sustainable development in education. This was accomplished by identifying the problems and challenges facing the use and deployment of this technology in educational institutions in the Kingdom, specifically at King Faisal University. Additionally, the study aimed to propose ways to enhance the utilization of certain applications utilizing this technology in e-learning within educational institutions.

Exploration of Emotion Analysis and Personalized Emotion Adjustment Algorithm in English Learning Process

An important component of human existence and behaviour is emotion. The automatic identification of emotions has gained significant importance in the domains of affective computing and human-machine interaction in recent times. Getting pictures of people's facial expressions is one of the simplest and least expensive methods for identifying emotions among the several physiological and kinematic data that may be utilised. Because of variations in anatomy, culture, and environment, developing a generalised, cross-subject model for emotion identification from facial expression remains difficult.This study presents an intelligent classroom that uses e-learning to help persons with autism spectrum condition strengthen their emotional abilities. Monitoring autism child engagement and participation in class while looking for signs of attention is necessary for effective classroom education. Teaching quality is increasingly being determined by the teachers' capacity to assess and evaluate the behaviour of their pupils in the classroom. Modern classroom systems are enhanced with the most recent technologies in educational institutions to make them more interactive, student-centered, and personalised. Even with these tools, it can be challenging for teachers to gauge their pupils' levels of interest and focus. This study makes use of contemporary technology to establish a real-time, intelligent vision-based classroom that can track students' moods, attendance, and levels of focus even when they are wearing face masks. In order to evaluate students' attention or lack thereof in a classroom, we trained AlexNet models that recognise student behaviour, including recognising facial expressions. Another designed to manage the irregular relationship between pupils and activities is the Interaction Students Education Neural Network ( Int_Edu_NN). The Q-matrix is used to firstly determine the pupil variable and the assignment indicator. This network is analyzed using two datasets in terms of various parameters and hence the proposed Int_Edu_NN achieves 99.% and 98% of accuracy.

Blockchain and machine learning in education: a literature review

<span lang="EN-US">There is a growing influence around the use of technology in education, with many solutions already being implemented and many others being explored. Using various forms of technology to assist the educational process has increased dramatically in the previous decade in education systems in many respects. Both machine learning and the blockchain have had a significant impact on education. The purpose of this study is to conduct a literature review on the application of machine learning and blockchain technology in educational institutions. Additionally, this study examines the potential applications, benefits, and challenges those educational institutions may face as a result of using machine learning and blockchain technologies. Using machine learning and blockchain in educational systems will have a positive impact on the entire educational process and student achievement. Researchers, academics, and practitioners will benefit from this study to focus on a wider range of educational applications and solve the related issues of machine learning and blockchain technology in the education sector.</span>

Development of professional competencies of students with distance learning technologies in the School-College-University system

Relevance. The relevance of the study lies in presenting the problems faced by participants of the educational process during distance learning, and proposing possible mechanisms for their solution based on global experience. Here, it is necessary to develop a new way of professional implementation of remote technologies, considering modern achievements in science and technology. In addition, it is necessary to ensure the availability of material and technical equipment and the training of qualified specialists.Purpose. The purpose of the study is to develop a full list of recommendations for the qualitative comprehension of educational material through using distance learning technologies in educational institutions of different levels.Methodology. The methodology of distance learning is based on conventional approaches to the organisation of the educational process. Theoretical, empirical, statistical and other methods were used to achieve this purpose. In this study, the problem of assessing the quality of distance education in an educational institution was theoretically analysed.Results. Considering the experience of developed countries, distance learning is applied with some restrictions. These restrictions are related to the level of the educational institution, the educational programme, and other important circumstances. In terms of the academic hours distance learning can be compared with low-residency programme. At the same time, it is possible to study at a convenient time, combining classes with work or homework. Access to quality education, considering its definition within the framework of long-term socio-economic development, is the most important value to citizens.Conclusions. Distance learning was presented as a conscious, organised, and systematic process of independent control of knowledge, skills, and abilities under the guidance of remote teachers.

Didactic features of the implementation in educational organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia of professionally oriented disciplines related to countering crimes committed using information and communication technologies

The subject of the study is the peculiarities of teaching information and communication technologies in educational institutions of higher education.The object of the study is the implementation of professionally oriented disciplines related to countering crimes committed using information and communication technologies in educational institutions of higher education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The authors consider in detail the introduction of information and communication technologies into the educational process, their effectiveness in solving applied tasks to improve the educational process, increase the activity of students through their involvement in various activities and stimulating educational activity. The authors pay special attention to the use of information and communication technologies in the pedagogical process of educational organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The authors reveal the problems of implementing professionally oriented disciplines related to countering crimes committed using information and communication technologies. In the course of the research, the dialectical method of scientific cognition was used, as well as a set of general scientific and special methods for studying the theoretical foundations of pedagogy, creative understanding of the problems of using information and communication technologies in the educational process. The introduction of scientific conclusions and recommendations into the practice of teaching professionally oriented disciplines are made. The main conclusions of the conducted research are the ways proposed by the authors to solve the problems of implementing professionally oriented disciplines. The main didactic questions "Who should be trained?", "What should be taught?", "How should training be conducted?" are considered and "Who will provide training?" professionally-oriented training related to countering crimes committed using information and communication technologies. A special contribution of the authors to the study of the topic is their proposed methodology for teaching students and cadets of universities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia to counter crimes committed using information and communication technologies. The authors note that the training should be carried out using an interdisciplinary approach, including elements of jurisprudence, information technology, psychology, sociology and other relevant fields of knowledge. The novelty of the research lies in the disclosure of the basic didactic principles of the implementation of professionally oriented training related to countering crimes committed using information and communication technologies.

This article examines the impact of the 2020 pandemic on the use of distance learning technologies in educational institutions, emphasizing the need to develop and analyze digitalization in the educational field. Special attention is paid to the opinions of students with special educational needs regarding distance learning methods, their interaction with teachers and the problems they face. The article aims to identify the key pedagogical conditions for effective distance learning, based on the subjective feedback of students. Based on the survey data, the authors emphasize the importance of the theoretical and methodological basis for the development of digital education and emphasize the need for a critical review of its components for the formation of competencies and professional growth of students.

RELAÇÕES ÉTNICO-RACIAIS NA EDUCAÇÃO PROFISSIONAL TÉCNICA DE NÍVEL MÉDIO: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA

ABSTRACT: This study aims to analyze the scientific evidence on ethnic-racial relations education in the scope of technical professional education at the secondary level. This is an exploratory and qualitative research, whose integrative literature review technique allowed the systematic selection of reports in six stages. Initially, the search of articles through SciELO, CAPES Journal, and Google Scholar from the terms race, ethnicity, race factor, racism, racial prejudice, racial discrimination, ethnic-racial relations, professional and technological education, and professional education, along with Boolean operators, resulted in 11,336 titles, and after screening, 11 articles were included. For discussion, the following categories were used: institutionalization of Law nº 10.639/2003 and curriculum; structural racism; quota law; nucleus of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous studies, research and extension; pedagogical experiences about ethnic-racial diversity; students' and teachers' perceptions of ethnic-racial diversity in the curriculum; and the role of teachers for the professional education of black women. It was found that there is a long way to go for the institutionalization of Laws 10,639/03 and 11,645/08 in the curricula and in the teaching-learning practices of vocational training, reinforced by the negative perceptions of students and teachers about ethnic-racial diversity in the curricula. of professional and technological education institutions, especially when it comes to integrated courses. However, the quota laws, the implementation of NEABI, and the different teaching experiences stood out as affirmative actions that promoted racial equality.

"BARBED-WIRE BOUNDARIES": HIDDEN CURRICULUM, FIRST-GENERATION AND LOW-INCOME ENGINEERING STUDENTS, AND INTERNSHIP ACQUISITION

Engineering industry internships provide significant benefits for undergraduate engineering students' careers. First-generation and low-income students (FGLI) are one group of marginalized students who access internships at lower rates compared to their non-FGLI peers; however, the reasons for this gap have not yet been explored in the literature. In this article, we investigate the internship acquisition experiences of FGLI engineering undergraduate students at a mid-sized private university in the western United States. We conducted ten semi-structured interviews to capture FGLI engineering students' experiences encountering and navigating the process of obtaining an internship. Our findings highlight the ways in which much of the knowledges surrounding the internship search and recruitment process are implicit and how this implicit hidden curriculum and technocratic culture create structural barriers to internship access for FGLI engineering students. We present a structural critique of internship recruitment through the framework of hidden curriculum and propose that companies and engineering education institutions work together toward transparent modes of evaluation for internship recruitment.

ONLINE PEDAGOGICAL STUDIES: SEARCHES, BARRIERS AND NEW CONSTRUCTS

The article outlines state policy of Ukraine on implementing information, communication and digi-tal technologies in educational institutions of various types and forms of ownership. Special atten-tion is paid to online research as the main direction of scientific and pedagogical activity. Peculiari-ties of different types of research, such as Internet surveys via special applications, internet surveys on web pages and online focus groups, are revealed. Advantages and disadvantages of online in-depth interviews and other widely spread methods of research on the Internet are defined. Classifi-cations of online studies are presented, for example, one-time and recurring (special, continuous, evaluating, experimental, and panel research). The activity of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine is characterized. Specific examples of online surveys of teachers during the last four years, their dynamics and effectiveness are described. The importance of online thesis researches in pedagogy is emphasized.It is proven that the methodology and methods of online research require further substantiation and constant updating of the conceptual terminological apparatus, which cannot be considered narrowly and develop within the framework of only one subject area (pedagogy, psychology, soci-ology, etc.). The interdisciplinarity of scientific research becomes an objective need. Psychopeda-gogy and digital pedagogy as scientific disciplines in the 21st century acquire special importance and are prospective branches of online research. The use of a complex of psycho-pedagogical and digital research methods has its specifics and requires the use of new interdisciplinary constructs under the conditions of digitalization.

ЦИФРОВЫЕ ТЕХНОЛОГИИ, ПРИМЕНЯЕМЫЕ В ПРОЦЕССЕ ОБУЧЕНИЯ КАК СПОСОБ ПРОФИЛАКТИКИ КОРРУПЦИИ В ОБРАЗОВАТЕЛЬНЫХ УЧРЕЖДЕНИЯХ

The article initially indicates the features of public danger and conditionality of corruption in the field of education. Further, the widespread corruption acts in the teaching environment are analyzed, such as: receiving remuneration for giving positive marks on the exam; official forgery; abuse of official powers. Separate criteria for finding the boundaries between corruption and noncorruption in teaching are also determined from the standpoint of implementing the principle of expediency in teaching. Next, some aspects of the use of digital technologies in educational institutions are considered from the standpoint of preventing corruption in the field of education: the “pros” and “cons” of using information (computer) technologies in the learning process are analyzed. In particular, it is noted that the use of online technologies in the process of passing/ taking exams and tests, defending term papers and final qualifying papers minimizes the possibilities of direct (“live”) communication between the teacher and the student, as well as provide additional opportunities to check the quality of passing / taking exams in the form of electronic records in the information network. As the “disadvantages” of using digital technologies in the educational process, it is indicated that the student has the opportunity to use additional material directly when preparing and answering questions, in other words, to write off, peek, etc. It is stated that this fact, although it reduces corruption risks, does not improve the quality of education itself.

Differentiated Education on Teaching Notions of Plants’ Pathology Assessment

The learning workshop, in terms of the workshop of the course called Plant Pathology at Technological Education Institute of Thessaly, was reinforced with two learning tools, the multi-formed material as well as the paper of the project. The research study was conducted on a specific sample of students in three consecutive academic years. Selective and short use of the multi-formed material can help the assessment positively. The task paper, which is completed in every laboratory (lab) task, probably brings every student into focus so as for him/her to comprehend the most the multiple approaches of the disease of the plants, through the reasons that cause the plant disease (e.g., fungi), as well as the terminology used in the course (e.g. genus and species of the pathogen).

Le renforcement de la capacité numérique d’un établissement d’enseignement : stratégies, défis et résultats

The introduction of digital technologies in educational institutions has gained significant momentum worldwide as societies recognize the central role of education in preparing individuals for a technology-driven world. This paper explores the concept of 'school digital capacity', which encompasses various factors critical to the effective integration of technology into teaching and learning practices. Educational leadership emerges as a cornerstone of this capacity, with leaders playing a critical role in shaping the digital landscape of their institutions. Using a mixed-methods approach, this research explores the perceptions of educational leaders in the context of a large-scale digital education reform project. Key findings highlight the importance of leadership and a coherent digital strategy in improving digital efficacy and teacher engagement with technology. However, challenges are evident, including a lack of clear strategies, inadequate human resource allocation, limited knowledge of digital education and insufficient professional development opportunities. The study highlights the need for improved training programmes for educational leaders to equip them with the necessary digital skills and strategic acumen. Collaborative networks between schools and increased support from ministries of education are recommended to facilitate effective digital integration and capacity development.

Project of an educational aerospace technology for STEM training

The objective of the project consists of an educational technology for training in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) considering that these are priority areas and engineering training requires integrative projects that bring together multidisciplinary knowledge. The prototype, in its initial stage, involves hardware, software and an integrative application, with a view to familiarization with topics such as aerospace engineering, remote sensing and computer engineering. The built system aims to move a small solar panel coupled to a robot, it was created with popsicle sticks, plastic straws, an Arduino microcontroller and its incremental innovation lies in the fact that the other educational rovers identified in the literature review do not have a system optimized for capture of solar rays. The project is in its initial stage and can be improved with a view to developing an integrative project in technological education institutions and/or commercial products for STEM training more associated with the engineering/technology axis.

Revising Engineering Education Curriculum as a Marketing Strategy to Boost Student Enrollment

In today's rapidly changing and competitive marketplace, engineering education institutions recognize the critical role of updating their curriculum as a strategic marketing tool to attract and retain students. The objective of updating the curriculum for future engineering education courses is to bridge the gap between traditional teaching and learning methods and the evolving needs of the industry. To gain valuable insights into the implementation and impact of curriculum updates, this study employs a thematic analysis technique. The thematic analysis aims to determine the main themes that address the following key research questions; What is the impact of updating engineering education curriculum towards student enrollment?.By conducting a thorough analysis of these research articles, this study seeks to provide practical recommendations for engineering education institutions looking to leverage curriculum updates as a marketing strategy in today's highly competitive landscape. By identifying the necessary changes in curriculum elements and addressing the challenges and barriers, institutions can enhance their appeal to prospective students and improve their ability to retain students. Ultimately, the findings of this study aim to support engineering education institutions in effectively utilizing curriculum updates to attract, engage, and retain students in an evolving educational environment.

APPLICATION OF PROCTORING TECHNOLOGIES IN MODERN EDUCATION

The scientific article "The use of proctoring technologies in modern education" is a comprehensive analysis of modern approaches and trends in the use of proctoring technologies in educational institutions. In the light of dynamic changes in the educational process, especially in the context of the spread of distance learning, the relevance of effective methods of assessment and ensuring integrity becomes undeniable. The article covers a wide range of topics, including technical innovations in proctoring systems, the variability of methods (biometric data, audio and video surveillance, etc.), the ethical aspects of the use of such technologies, as well as the impact on the psychological aspect of learning and student outcomes.
