The electro-oxidative polymerization of BP + in acetonitrile solutions was carried out. The film prepared (poly-BP) + was electroinactive in acetonitrile solutions, but electroactive in aqueous solutions. The morphology of the films depended on the electrolysis conditions. The film thickness (φ) could be controlled by the amount of charge passed during the polymerization in the range of φ = ca. 20 – 100 μ m. The electrochemical and spectroscopic characterization of the poly-BP film suggested that it contains p,p′-biphenoquinone/p,p′-biphenol moieties as electroactive sites.
