Abstract

Indium tin oxide electrodes, modified by the presence of a thin layer of electroactive polymer obtained by electrochemical oxidation of N-vinylcarbazole, display electrooptical properties described herein. The behavior of poly-N-vinylcarbazole films was followed in situ by parallel detection visible-UV absorption spectrophotometry during cyclic potential sweeps and during polarization at a constant potential in CH3CN+NaP (0.5 M). The stability and the open-circuit memory of the electrochromic system of the electroactive polymer film were studied.
