Pengembangan Modul Berbasis Masalah Menulis Naskah Drama Siswa Kelas VIII SMP N 4 Siak Hulu Kabupaten Kampar

Teaching writing skill is one form of teaching language skills that must be mastered by students. One of the important writing activities carried out by students in school is the skill of drama scripts writing. However, in learning material for writing scripts, there were still many students learning outcomes that did not meet the KKM. The weakness of students in writing drama scripts was caused by various factors, such as the technique or approach used by the teacher was not appropriate and the learning materials provided were inadequate for students. So that the aim of the study was to produce a problem-based module in the learning of drama scripts writing. Further, the research subjects were eighth-grade students of SMPN 4 Siak Hulu amounting 36 students. The results of this study were valid, practical, and effective problem-based modules for eighth-grade students for learning drama scripts writing. It was also evidenced by the value of module validity of 91.41% with very valid criteria. The module practicality value was 83.82% with very practical criteria, while module practicality by students was 78.27% with practical criteria. Additionally, the effectiveness of the module consists of students’ evaluating the overall activity was 88.33% with very high criteria or very successful. On the other hand, the overall assessment of drama script writing was 84.04 with good qualifications.

The effect of realia on descriptive text writing quality at the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Bendo

This research is conducted to explain about the Effect of Realia on Descriptive Text Writing Quality at The Eight Grade Students of SMPN 1 Bendo. The sample of this research are 8-K consisted of 21 students in the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Bendo. The research approach that is used in this study is quantitative. The research was conducted by using experimental research. The data was collected by doing test. The technique of data analysis that is used in this research is paired sample T-test. The result of this research shows that Realia gives significant effect to the students’ writing quality in descriptive text. It can be seen that the significant value is 0.000. It shows that the probabilities value of students’ writing skill is lower than 0.05 (0.000<0.05) level of significant. So, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It can be stated that there is significant difference on the students’ descriptive text writing skill before being taught using Realia and after being taught using Realia. So, it can be concluded that Realia helps the students in the process of writing descriptive text and this media has positive effect on the students’ descriptive text writing quality.

The use of nursery rhymes to teach writing for the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Geger

<p><em>Writing is one of the basic skills in English teaching that must be mastered well by the students. Nursery Rhymes is choosen as a media in teaching writing in order to make the students easily to understand. The objectives of this research are: to describe the implementation, the advantages and the disadvantages of the use Nursery Rhymes to teach writing. The researcher takes place at SMPN 2 Geger. The researcher uses qualitative approach in this research. The source of data are social situation, participant/informant, and documents. The techniques of collecting data are observation, interview and documentation. The triangulation is used to validate the data while the researcher analyze the data through three phases consist of data condensation, data display and verifying conclusion. The result of the research shows that the implementation of the use of Nursery Rhymes to teach writing are explaining materials, introducing a Nursery Rhymes, play the song of Nursery Rhymes, and guiding the students write a text about the Nursery Rhymes. Beside, the advantages of the use of Nursery Rhymes to teach writing are: it is simple and cheaper than other media, it is enriches students’ vocabulary. While, the disadvantages are: it needs much time in teaching learning process, students still ask their teacher about the vocabulary and they are too lazy to open their dictionary. Meanwhile, it is suggested that the students should bring their dictionary in English class. The other researcher are expected to do a research about Nursery Rhymes for other skills.</em></p>

An Analysis of Teachers’ Classroom Management in Teaching English

Classroom Management is a multifaceted concept and views about classroom and its styles can be categorized in various ways. This study focused on the classroom itself. Therefore, this study was intended to describe the classroom management and the use of teaching learning strategy at the eight grade students in SMPN 05 Kota Serang. This study was also aimed to give some contributions concerning the Classroom Management Strategy and the students’ participation on the use of the strategy in teaching learning process in the class. This study is qualitative research. The writer had chosen two english teachers who taught the eighth grade students of SMPN 05 Kota Serang in the academic year of 2017/2018 as the subject. The writers describe the process of organizing teaching and learning process in SMPN 05 Kota Serang by applying interview and observation to the teachers. The writers could conclude that T1 applied 72% and T2 applied 70% classroom management strategy in their classroom. They applied the classroom strategies from opening to closing activities, used seating arrangement during the teaching learning process, explained the material well, gave motivation, had positive attitude and built the relationship with students.

THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECT BASED LEARNING TO IMPROVE STUDENT’S SPEAKING SKILL

The background of the experiment was to find out whether the influence of project based learning in improving the speaking skill among eighth grade students of SMPN 3 Padalarang in the academic year of 2018/2019. The method of this study was quantitative technique and the one shot case study design conducted in single class. The researcher conducted the tests before (pre-test) and after (post-test). The research effect display the improvements in speaking ability. The score of pre-test was 63.87, and the post-test was 76.29. Based on students’ attitudes toward the utilized Project based learning, the discovery indicated that most of students rated the use of technique moderately positive. Nearly all of students agreed that project based learning is capabel to improve their speaking mastery ,accumulate their vocabulary mastery,develop their creative thinking, and increase their presentation skill. issue of this study showed that by applying project based learning on learning English can to increase students’speaking skill.Keywords: project based learning, speaking skill

Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemahaman Dan Motivasi Belajar Siswa SMP Dalam Menyelesaikan Masalah Teorema Pythagoras Menggunakan Problem Based Learning

The background of this research is the low ability of students' mathematical understanding and learning motivation of junior high school students. This study aims to determine the ability of students' mathematical understanding and student motivation to learn using the Problem Based Learning approach. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a pretest and posttest group design. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Margaasih in Bandung Regency. The sample in this study were two classes from class VIII, namely class VIII F as Experiment I class and VIII G as Experiment II class. The research data were obtained through tests of students' mathematical understanding abilities and student mathematics learning motivation questionnaires. Based on quantitative data analysis, it can be concluded that the ability of students' mathematical understanding and learning motivation of junior high school students whose learning uses the Problem Based Learning approach increases.

KORELASI KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN TEKS EKSPLANASI DENGAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS TEKS EKSPLANASI SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 2 BATUSANGKAR

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is three. First, describe the reading skills of explanatory text understanding of class VIII Batusangkar 2 Middle School. Second, describe the explanatory text writing skills of class VIII Batusangkar 2 Middle School. Third, describing reading correlation understanding explanatory text with explanatory text writing skills of class VIII Batusangkar 2 Middle School. This article was written to describe reading skills in understanding explanatory texts with explanatory text writing skills of class VIII students of SMP N 2 Batusangkar. This type of research is quantitative research using descriptive methods. The research design used is correlational. The population in this study was the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Batusangkar who were enrolled in the 2017/2018 academic year totaling 245 students. Samples were taken using proportional random sampling. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the correlation between reading skills comprehension of explanatory texts and explanatory text writing skills of class VIII Batusangkar 2 Junior High School with 95% evidence with n-1 degrees of freedom; t-count> t-table (5.55)> (1.68). Therefore, reading skills understanding explanatory texts correlate with explanatory text writing skills. The Effect of Motivation on the Learning Achievement

This article discusses the effect of students ' intrinsic motivation on their English achievement, to find out the effect of students’ extrinsic motivation on their English achievement, and to find out the effect of the eighth grade students’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation together towards their English achievement at SMPN 5 Bantan. The subject of study was the Eighth grade students of SMPN 5 Bantan totaling 88 students. The data were collected by using a set of questionnaire and documentation. The instruments used were a reliability test, a normality test and a homogenity test, while the data analysis was used product moment by employing multiple correlation analysis and regression analysis with a significant level of 5%. The analyzed data werte taken from the scores of Mid semester. The results showed that 1. There was a positive and significant effect of students' intrinsic motivation on their English learning achievement with a value of r count was greater than r table (0.287> 0.207). 2. There was no significant effect between students’ extrinsic motivation with their English learning achievement. 3. There was a significant relationship between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of students with their English learning achievement where F count was equal to 6.227, while the F table at 4.88 with N = 88 at the significance level of 5%. So, F was calculated from the F table ( 6.227g 4.88), because the findings of this study showed a significant effect. Overall, hypothesis test matched the research finding. So, if students have higher motivation, their learning achievement will increase

KEMAMPUAN PENALARAN MATEMATIS SISWA MODELDISCOVERY LEARNING DAN CONNECTED MATHEMATICS PROJECT

This study aims to: (1) find out the significant differences of students’ math reasoning abilities with the Discovery Learning model, Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) learning model, and conventional learning models; (2) find out which one of the above models are considered as the better model. This study was a quasi-experimental with the population from eighth grade students of SMPN 6 Bengkulu city and took sample from three classes namely VIII-D as the experimental class 1, class VIII-E as the experimental class 2, and class VIII-F as the control class.The technique for collecting data used a test of mathematics reasoning ability and analyzed by using one-way ANOVA test and continued with LSD test. Based on the result of study there were significat differences in students’ math reasoning abilities by using Discovery Learning, Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) and the conventional learning models.From the BNT test was obtained that Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) learning model gives the better results of students’ mathematics reasoning abilities than the Discovery Learning and Conventional learning models. The Effect of Metalinguistic Written Corrective Feedback on English Writing Competency of the Eighth Grade Students of SMPN 1 Abiansemal in Academic Year 2015/2016

The present study aimed at investigating whether or not there was a significant difference in writing competency between the eighth grade junior high school students who received metalinguistic WCF and those who did not receive any feedback. This experimental study took the eighth grade students in SMPN 1 Abiansemal as the
 population and VIIIB and VIIIF respectively as the control and experimental group through cluster random sampling. The design of the study was pretest-posttest control group design. The data were the students’ pretest and posttest that were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. ANCOVA test was used in analyzing the data and to test the hypothesis. The result of the analysis using ANCOVA in SPSS 17.0 showed that the significance value of the group was 0.024 which was lower than the significance level 0.05. It means that the null hypothesis was rejected. It was concluded that there was a significant difference between students who received metalinguistic WCF and those who did not receive any feedback.

Visiting EFL Class: The Use of Sentence-Soup Game in Writing Class

The present quasi experimental study was conducted to describe how theimplementation of sentence soup game in the teaching writing and to determine the significant difference of the students’ achievement according to their pre-test and posttest result. The sample of study was 70 eighth grade students of SMPN 4 PalimananCirebon. A pre-test and post-test equivalent group design was used to compare the achievement of two groups. The collected data was statistically analyzed by t test formula. The result showed that: 1).The implementation of sentence soup game assessed gave positive effect in teaching writing. It evidenced if students got advantages in this learning with playing activity. 2a).There was no significant difference of the students’ pre-test result. Where null hypothesis was accepted, the tobtained was less than the tcritical (0,980 < 1,667). 2b). There was significant difference of the students’ post-test result. Where null hypothesis was rejected, the tobtained higher than tcritical (2,692 > 1,667). The students’ performance of experimental group was better based on the difference between the mean scores. The mean of experimental group was 5,5 on pre-test and 7,4 on post-test, hence control group was 5,0 on pre-test and 6,7 on post-test. It indicated if teaching English writing through sentence soup game enhanced the achievement level of the students.

The Effect Of Usıng Short Story Toward Students’ Achıevement In Vocabulary Mastery

The objective of this study was to obtain the empirical evidence about the effect of using short story toward students’ achievement in vocabulary mastery at the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Labuan. The sample of this study was 70 students taken from the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Labuan. 35 students were from the experimental class and 35 students were from controlled class. The method used in this study was a quantitative method that designed the experimental. In collecting the data, the researcher conducted test twice to both the class in which one was as pre-test and another was post-test. And in analyzing the data, the researcher used t-test formula to find out whether there was a significant difference between two variables in this study. The result of statistic calculation obtained that the value of t-observation (to) was 22.191 and the degree of freedom (df) was 68. In the table of the significance 5%, the value of (df) = 68 was 1.667. By comparing the value of to (22.191) with the value of tt (1.667), it could be seen that the value of to was higher than the value of tt. Then, the alternative hypotheses (Ha) was accepted and the null hypotheses (Ho) was rejected. Based on the result, it could be concluded that the use of short story was more effective in teaching and learning reading comprehension toward students’ achievement in vocabulary mastery than without using short story

Developing Students’ Writing Skill on Narrative Text Using Guided Composition Technique (GCT): An Action Research

The study aims to describe the development of the students’ writing skill through the implementation of Guided Composition Technique (GCT) learning approach. This research is a Classroom Action Research consisting of three cycles. The subject of this research was 31 eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Borobudur of the academic year 2013/2014. The data were collected from the result of group task, observation, analysis of students’ work and interview. The obtained data were analyzed qualitatively in three steps of data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The results that there were many problems faced by the students in developing their writing skill which can be classified into five aspects: grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, organization and content. The implementation of GCT learning technique could develop their writing skill. It was found that the average score gained by the students using guided words or phrases constructions was 70.06, guided questions was 75.90, and guided picture was 76.26.The guided picture was the favourite one. On the students’ motivation in learning English, there was improvement from cycle to cycle. In the first cycle there were 63.55% students having good motivation. Whereas the second and third cycle, there were 74.52% and 90% students getting good motivation. Between 250-300 words; must focus on: aims of the study, methods, findings, conclusions, and implications.

TEACHING SPEAKING USING SIMULATION TO THE EIGHT GRADE STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Simulation means simulate a real life activity.The objectives of this research are to describe a) how the implementation of simulation in teaching speaking skill and b) the strengths and weaknesses towards the implementation of simulation technique in teaching speaking to the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 TlogomulyoTemanggung. This study was action research where the main data were in the form of descriptive qualitative by conducting classroom observation and interview. The results of the research showed that the implementation of simulation in the teaching and learning process of speaking was improving the students’ motivation. They were more enthusiastic in learning speaking and the students were interested in speaking activities. Besides, the researcher found some strengths and weaknesses in implementation simulation technique. The strengths were the students motivated and have effective aspects in social interaction. Meanwhile, the weaknesses of the simulation were the activities artificial and difficult to monitor.

TEACHING RECOUNT TEXT THROUGH SCRABBLE GAME

This research is aimed to identify whether scrabble game can improve students’ new vocabulary in recount text at eighth grade of junior high school. This research was conducted in SMPN 39 Bandung. The research was conducted by using quantitative research design, and pre-experimental research method. The researcher used one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample of this research was the eighth grade students of SMPN 39 Bandung, which consist of 32 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used test. The results of this research show that the scrabble game is able to improve students vocabulary in recount text. It is proved by the significant value using SPSS statistics 21 version to analyze the data by normality test, homogeneity and T-test. Through the normality test, the significant showed 0,090 > 0,05 and 0,061 > 0,05 which means that the data was normal. The data also homogeny with 0,348 > 0,05 as the significant value. Moreover, the T-test also showed that the significant value was 0,000 < 0,05 which means that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. In conclusion, applying scrabble game in teaching recount text is recommended because there is significant effect of scrabble game to students in teaching recount text.

Teaching reading by using visual scaffolding strategy for the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Takeran

<p>The purpose of this study was to describe the application of the Visual Scaffolding strategy in reading in the eighth grade at SMPN 1 Takeran. Visual scaffolding is a strategy that is given to students for reading learning. In reading learning, students feel reading is one of the skills that is difficult to master where students have difficulty interpreting, and explain the meaning of meaning in the text. For that teachers use the Visual Scaffolding strategy where in teaching and learning activities teachers use visual media such as images, videos and movements to make students better understand teaching materials.</p>

The implementation of inquiry based learning in teaching speaking to narrative text by using fairy tale for the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Jiwan Madiun

<p>There are four skills in English, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Speaking is the main skill compared to others, because in the process of teaching and learning English teachers and students need a good communication to do speaking activities in expressing their ideas. One method and media for teaching speaking is Inquiry Based Learning used in teaching speaking to narrative text by using fairy tale. The purpose of this study is to describe how to use and the advantages of the shortcomings of Inquiry Based Learning in teaching narrative text by using fairy tale. The strengths of this study is making students feel comfortable, not bored, happy, and building students for self-confidence, increasing students 'ability to analyze sources, motivating students to practice speaking and increasing students' ability to cooperate. The disadvantages are the students who are passive and still dependent on their smart friends, and during the presentation students get problems in composing sentences because of their limited vocabulary. Inquiry Based Learning in teaching speaking to narrative text by using fairy tale can help teachers and students in the learning process, especially in speaking.</p>

The Use of Problem Based (PBL) Learning in Teaching Reading

This study was aimed at examining the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in Teaching Reading. This study belongs to a pre experimental research. The population of this study was all the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Selong which consisted of nine classes with 302 students. However the researcher just took one class as a sample of the study and there were 34 students in this class. To get the data, the researcher used the research instrument namely objective test in the form of multiple choice tests. Furthermore, in analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS 17.00 for windows. Based on the obtained data, the mean score of pre-test was 6.78 and the mean score of the post-test was 10.34.Iit means that, there was a difference between the mean score in pre-test and post-test. In testing hypothesis, the researcher found that t value (df= 33) = 16.216, p = 0.000. It showed that the value of significant level (p value) was lower than 0.05. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis was accepted. This data showed that problem-based learning was effective in teaching reading for the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Selong .

PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH SISWA MENGGUNAKAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN TREFFINGER

The current research intends to clarify how Treffinger learning model improves student problem-solving skill on school mathematics subject. This research is a descriptive study. There are 30 students as the subjects and are taken from the eighth-grade students of SMPN 9 Palembang South Sumatra. The data are obtained from teaching and learning observation and student test. Based on the analysis, it is found that through Trefinger model the students whose scores are minimally 80 at the test is categorized as good skill in problem solving which is around 86.67% of students.

The Effect of Project Based Learning to the Students’writing Ability in Descriptive Text

This study aims to know the effect of Project Based Learning to the students’ writing ability in descriptive text in the eighth grade students of SMPN 8 Kediri in which the experimental research design was applied . The sample consisted of 16 males and 14 females students. The essay test of writing descriptive text was used to collect the data about the students’ writing ability before and after the treatments about teaching writing using project based learning.Then the data were analyzed using statistical formula of t-test computation. The result shown that the students’total score of post-test is 2460, and then total score of p re-test is 2217. It means that students’ score increased. Based on the data report of the table of t-test based on signification 5%, the result of this research showed that T-score (14, 54) ˃ T-table 5% (1, 699). It means that was significant so the Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Besides, in analyze t-test, t-score is higher than t-table. The score of t-test is 14, 54 and the t-table is 1, 699 in the level of significant 5% (0, 05). Based on the t-test result which obtain that Project Based Learning has significant effect t-score 14.54 and the table is 1.699 in the level of significant 5%. From the data analysis, it can be seen that Project Based Learning is effective to the students’ writing descriptive text ability.
