Green Transformation in Portfolio: The Role of Sustainable Practices in Investment Decisions

Amidst the green transformations around sustainable drives, organizations are striving to integrate green business strategies (GBSs) to enhance their financial viability. This research argues that green strategies promote organizational efficiency that, in turn, improves financial performance and channel investments. Checking the mediating role of organizational efficiency through process improvement, product improvement, and organizational innovation focuses on financial performance and investment decisions. The study further postulates the moderation of management control system on the links between GBS and organizational efficiency parameters. The data were gathered by using surveys of 552 firms’ managers and investors at the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, China. PLS-SEM was applied to check the psychometric properties and analyze the data. The results confirm that GBS improves organizational efficiency and financial performance, exerting significant mediation effects. The study finds that moderation helps transform the green business strategy into tangible financial goals by amplifying the positive impact of GBSs. The study enriches the understanding of GBSs, organizational efficiency and investment decisions. The study also lauds the integration of GBSs that effectively transform financial performance and investment decisions.

The Role of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in Driving Organizational Development and Environmental Sustainability

An Environmental Management System (EMS) is a framework that helps in assessing the risks a business has on its environment while providing organizations with mitigation strategies to minimize the risks. This study aims to analyze the importance and impact of EMS on organizations and global sustainability goals. This review study uses a descriptive and analytical approach by including 67 studies for the review that were published in the last 5 years. The findings from this review suggest that the integration of EMS along with tools and techniques like ISO 14031, Cross-Functional Team (CFT), Matrix model, and Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) can be very useful in attaining global sustainability goals and maximizing the environmental efficiency of organizations. The study concludes that the integration of EMS in industries not only helps in minimizing environmental pollution but it also helps in managing the overall growth of the organizations.

Exploring the potential benefits and challenges of artificial intelligence for research funding organisations: a scoping review

Background Artificial Intelligence (AI) is at the forefront of today’s technological revolution, enhancing efficiency in many organisations and sectors. However, in some research environments, its adoption is tempered by the risks AI poses to data protection, ethics, and research integrity. For research funding organisations (RFOs), although there is interest in the application of AI to boost productivity, there is also uncertainty around AI’s utility and its safe integration into organisational systems and processes. The scoping review explored: ‘What does the evidence say about the current and emerging use of AI?’; ‘What are the potential benefits of AI for RFOs?’ and ‘What are the considerations and risks of AI for RFOs?’ Methods A scoping review was undertaken with no study, language, or field limits. Due to the rapidly evolving AI field, searches were limited to the last three years (2022-2024). Four databases were searched for academic and grey literature in February 2024 (including 13 funding and professional research organisation websites). A classification framework captured the utility and potential, and considerations and risks of AI for RFOs. Results 122 eligible articles revealed that current and emerging AI solutions could potentially benefit RFOs by enhancing data processes, administration, research insights, operational management, and strategic decision-making. These solutions ranged from AI algorithms to data management platforms, frameworks, guidelines, and business models. However, several considerations and risks need to be addressed before RFOs can successfully integrate AI (e.g., improving data quality, regulating ethical use, data science training). Conclusion While RFOs could potentially benefit from a breadth of AI-driven solutions to improve operations, decision-making and data management, there is a need to assess organisational ‘AI readiness’. Although technological advances could be the solution there is a need to address AI accountability, governance and ethics, address societal impact, and the risks to the research funding landscape.

Are Shared-Goal Congruence, Customer Relationship Management, and Customer Relationship Advantages Matter to Leverage Firm Performance? Indonesia Cases on Retail

<p>This study empirically investigates the relationship between shared-goal congruence, customer relationship management (CRM), and customer relationship advantages on firm performance. Data were collected from 200 supply chain practitioners and operations staff working in retail stores in Indonesia using purposive and non-probability sampling techniques. The hypotheses were assessed using SEM-AMOS 24, after conducting Exploratory Factor Analysis, reliability, and validity tests. The results show that CRM significantly impacts firm performance, mediated by Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM). Additionally, a positive relationship exists between goal congruency and firm performance, also mediated by GSCM. Supplier relationship management was found to have a significant effect on both GSCM and firm performance. The theoretical contribution of this study emphasizes that the integration of sustainable principles in supply chain management through GSCM improves firm performance in various aspects, including financial, environmental, and social. The implementation of GSCM, supported by strong management commitment and a shift in organizational culture, enhances energy and resource efficiency, process and product innovation, environmental risk reduction, customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, and cost reductions, leading to competitive advantages through faster and more accurate decision-making.</p>

The article offers a comparative analysis of global volunteerism experiences to identify trends and considers unique aspects of the Ukrainian context. ANALISIS SISTEM INFORMASI KOPERASI SIMPAN PINJAM MENGGUNAKAN METODE WEIGHTED PRODUCT

In the rapidly developing digital era, information systems have become crucial in improving organizational efficiency and productivity. In XYZ Cooperative, information systems also play an important role. This cooperative, which is under a government agency, has a vision to improve the welfare of its employees through savings and loan services. However, in performing its business processes, this cooperative has not had applications and digital data storage, so there is a lot of work that is conducted redundantly. The aim of the research is to develop a cooperative information system (SIKOP) using the Weighted Product method. This research explains the analysis phase. The Weighted Product method is used to calculate the eligibility of an employee when applying for a loan at the cooperative, using 5 criteria. As a case study, the calculation was carried out on 20 current cooperative members. In the analysis phase, business processes were defined by using Porter Diagrams. The details of main activities were described by using Business Process Management Notation (BPMN). Software user requirements for application design features were measured by using the Kano method by distributing questionnaires to 30 respondents. The results of measuring software user requirements are the feature categories: 8 one-dimensional features, 3 must-be features and 3 indifferent features. The outputs of the research phase of the analysis of the savings and credit cooperative information system are software analysis documents and publication as knowledge dissemination and a basis for the next research phase.

Understanding Recruiters’ Acceptance of Artificial Intelligence: Insights from the Technology Acceptance Model

The integration of new technologies in professional contexts has emerged as a critical determinant of organizational efficiency and competitiveness. In this regard, the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in recruitment processes facilitates faster and more accurate decision-making by processing large volumes of data, minimizing human bias, and offering personalized recommendations to enhance talent development and candidate selection. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) provides a valuable framework for understanding recruiters’ perceptions of innovative technologies, such as AI tools and GenAI. Drawing on the TAM, a model was developed to explain the intention to use AI tools, proposing that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness influence attitudes toward AI, which subsequently affect the intention to use AI tools in recruitment and selection processes. Two studies were conducted in Portugal to address this research objective. The first was a qualitative exploratory study involving 100 interviews with recruiters who regularly utilize AI tools in their professional activities. The second study employed a quantitative confirmatory approach, utilizing an online questionnaire completed by 355 recruiters. The qualitative findings underscored the transformative role of AI in recruitment, emphasizing its potential to enhance efficiency and optimize resource management. However, recruiters also highlighted concerns regarding the potential loss of personal interaction and the need to adapt roles within this domain. The results also supported the indirect effect of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on the use of AI tools in recruitment and selection processes via positive attitudes toward the use of these tools. This suggests that AI is best positioned as a complementary tool rather than a replacement for human decision-making. The insights gathered from recruiters’ perspectives provide actionable recommendations for organizations seeking to leverage AI in recruitment processes. Specifically, the findings show the importance of ethical considerations and maintaining human involvement to ensure a balanced and effective integration of AI tools.

Evaluating Ecosystem Characteristics and Ecological Carrying Capacity for Marine Fauna Stock Enhancement Within a Marine Ranching System.

China has recently launched extensive marine ranching projects, highlighting the need for scientific evaluation of ecosystem structure and function to guide their development. This study established two energy flow models and an evaluation index system to assess the structure, function, carrying capacity, and ecological status of both a marine ranching ecosystem and a nearby control site in the Beibu Gulf. The results show that the ranching ecosystem outperformed the control ecosystem in terms of food chain length, system size, and ecological carrying capacity of economically important species. The ranching ecosystem was classified as "relatively good", while the control ecosystem was deemed "relatively poor", which may confirm the success of the ranching efforts. Mussels, large crabs, and scorpaenidae were identified as key species for stock enhancement based on their biomass potential. Scenario simulations using Ecosim, driven by biomass and fishing factors, indicate that stock enhancement strategies targeting MOB (mussels, oysters, and barnacles) significantly improved the ranching ecosystem, raising its status to "good". However, the simulations also revealed that stock enhancement had limited effects on optimizing food web structure, system organization, and energy transfer efficiency, suggesting that a combination of strategies is necessary for further improvement.

Les enjeux des nouvelles technologies numériques sur le système de santé marocain : Cas du service de cardiologie -B- du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Ibn Sina (CHUIS) Rabat

We live in the era of information technology (IT) innovations in the health sector, this has led to the appropriation of new organizational models which are profoundly changing the practice of medicine. Our study aims to determine the challenges of new digital technologies in the Moroccan health system, the case of the cardiology department - B - of the Ibn Sina University Hospital Center. This is a single-center observational descriptive-analytical study carried out at the level of the cardiology department - B- for 6 months, from September 1, 2022. Questionnaires were distributed in paper form to staff-affiliated medical doctor or carrying out their internships, using a digital device within the service. Thirty-one (31) responses were collected, with a participation rate of 78%; the age of the respondents varies between 21 to 55 years with an average of 30.3± 8.71 years with a female predominance of 67.7% and almost half of the health professionals in our sample 42% were residents. The most deployed digital device is the Hospital Information System (HIS) in 80.6%; 93.5% of respondents noted that saving of time is one of the advantages of telemedicine and 71% of respondents who affirmed that the better monitoring of patients located in isolated areas in order to avoid forgoing care. 74.2% of respondents considered that technical problems constituted an obstacle to the deployment of remote procedures; compared to 22.2% for a weak diagnosis; 64.5% of respondents noted that training would be a major lever for integrating more remote activities into their practices and 54.5% of respondents are in favor of adapted time slots. The benefits perceived by respondents of these digital tools are numerous, although there are obstacles preventing digital transformation from reaching its full potential. The use of new digital technologies in this health sector responds to positive challenges in terms of organizational and educational efficiency; this requires the coordination of all stakeholders. The cardiology department -B - is a space conducive to the implementation of new digital technologies.

Dual Influence of Size and Electric Field on Gold Nanoparticles: Insights into 2D Monolayer Assembly.

Self-assembled gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) possess distinctive properties that are highly desirable in diverse nanotechnological applications. This study meticulously explores the size-dependent behavior of Au-NPs under an electric field, specifically focusing on sizes ranging from 5 to 40 nm, and their subsequent assembly into 2D monolayers on an n-type silicon substrate. The primary objective is to refine the assembly process and augment the functional characteristics of the resultant nanostructures. Utilizing a multifaceted analytical approach encompassing X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and COMSOL multiphysics simulation, this work yields comprehensive insights. Results reveal that the electric field and nanoparticle size critically influence assembly dynamics due to variations in surface energy and electrostatic interactions. Larger Au-NPs (20, 30, and 40 nm) experience enhanced dipolar interactions and more substantial polarizability, enabling more efficient alignment and organization under an applied electric field. This leads to the formation of structured, uniform monolayers with minimal vacancies and smoother surfaces. In contrast, smaller Au-NPs (5, 10, and 15 nm) exhibit lower polarizability, which hampers alignment and promotes clustering and voids. XRD analysis delineates notable disparities in peak intensities and positions: smaller Au-NPs exhibit diminished (111) peak intensities, indicative of uneven distribution and crystallinity, whereas larger particles manifest higher intensities and well-defined peaks across multiple crystallographic planes. SEM images portray diverse surface coverages with AFM corroborating that larger Au-NPs achieve uniform and continuous monolayers with minimal height variations. COMSOL simulations substantiate these findings by illustrating the efficient alignment and settling of larger Au-NPs under the electric field. This study bridges critical gaps in understanding how nanoparticle size modulates assembly dynamics and the resultant properties of 2D Au-NP monolayers, offering pivotal insights into engineering advanced nanostructured materials tailored to specific applications in electronics, coatings, photonics, and catalysis.

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) play a crucial role in the development of any nation by contributing to the workforce, knowledge economy, and social transformation. In India, as in many other countries, HEIs face numerous administrative challenges that hinder their ability to achieve academic excellence, innovation, and organizational efficiency. These challenges include complex governance structures, inadequate funding, political interference, rigid regulatory frameworks, and a lack of autonomy. This paper explores the primary administrative issues faced by HEIs in India, analyses the causes of these challenges, and offers potential solutions for creating a more effective and autonomous administrative framework within these institutions.

Electoral Integrity and Election Management in Nigeria: The Case of the 2023 General Election

ABSTRACTAlthough Nigeria has maintained periodic elections since 1999, the quality of these elections is often questioned. Marred by several irregularities, including vote buying, falsification of results, and over‐voting, Nigerian elections often fall short of international standards. Focusing mainly on the 2023 presidential election, this study interrogated how organizational attributes of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) contribute to the overall integrity of electoral processes in Nigeria. It relied on data from interviews, the Internet, and documents to assess INEC's organizational efficiency. We found that INEC's significant constraints are corruption, lack of adherence to its rules, and lack of independence. Although the new Electoral Act signed into law by the Nigerian president in 2022 ought to strengthen the capacity and independence of INEC, in practice, the activities of INEC are still massively influenced by political interferences, thereby making it challenging for the body to conduct credible elections. Addressing this challenge will help Nigeria institutionalize the conduct of free, fair, and credible elections.

Listening to the Hearts of Today’s Heroesexploring Donors’ Motivations and Feedback on Tupou Blood Donation Drive

Public service is a core value of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU). In 2012, the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) launched a blood donation drive to address the country’s ongoing need for blood and support its employees’ and their families’ health and well-being. Since 2014, this has become an annual event, reflecting UPOU’s commitment to community service. This paper examines the motivations of blood donors, highlights best practices, and identifies areas for improvement, employing the Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1991) to explore the role of communication in motivating participation. Through key informant interviews and thematic analysis, the study finds that donors are primarily motivated by a desire to help others, access to blood, and the health benefits associated with donation. Best practices identified include accommodating staff, efficient organization, a conducive environment, and the provision of refreshments. However, areas for improvement include increasing publicity efforts, ensuring wider venue accessibility, and disseminating invitations earlier. The findings suggest the need for more strategic communication that emphasizes the scarcity of blood, the benefits of donation, and the importance of ensuring blood availability. The Theory of Planned Behavior helps contextualize how positive attitudes, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norms influence donor participation. By incorporating these improvements, including better-targeted communication strategies, the drive can attract more donors, strengthen community engagement, and ultimately increase the impact of the UPOU Blood Donation Drive.

ИННОВАЦИИ И УСТОЙЧИВОЕ РАЗВИТИЕ: ВЛИЯНИЕ ЦИФРОВЫХ ТЕХНОЛОГИЙ НА БИЗНЕС-МОДЕЛИ РОССИЙСКИХ ПРЕДПРИЯТИЙ В УСЛОВИЯХ КРИЗИСА

This paper aims to examine the relationship between digital technologies and corporate resilience in a crisis, as well as the mechanism of action of internal and external situational factors on digital transformation and corporate resilience. The paper also considers important boundary conditions in terms of internal performance feedback. The relationship between digital transformation and corporate resilience is analyzed. It is considered how digitalization affects the resilience of companies in crisis conditions (e.g., the COVID-19 pandemic). The nonlinear impact of digital technologies on the efficiency and resilience of organizations is investigated. The boundary conditions of digitalization are analyzed. The influence of management decisions, organizational changes, and corporate resources on resilience is considered. A hypothesis about an inverted U-shaped relationship between digital transformation and corporate resilience is proposed. A hypothesis about the influence of excess and deficit productivity on this relationship is developed. This theoretically provides a new understanding of the boundary conditions of digitalization and corporate resilience through an internal and external perspective. In practice, it can help firms create a positive environment based on performance feedback and levels of external competition, which in turn can effectively stimulate corporate sustainability.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF AFFORDANCES APPROACH IN GAMIFICATION RESEARCH FOR HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

The contemporary organizational work landscape is becoming more and more digital and experiencing changes in workforce and work management. Productivity, flexibility and collaboration become the essence of the workplace. This leads to the consequence that motivation plays a pivotal role in the success and efficiency of many organizations. Moreover, organizations are facing challenges in how to inspire, energize and keep employees motivated. In response to this challenge, gamification, which is well-known as the application of game elements and principles for non-game purposes in a business context, emerges as a strategic instrument, to incentivize and motivate employees toward predetermined goals, objectives and behaviours. The goal of gamification applications is not only to enrich the usual work environment with game elements but also to create affordances that would serve as stimuli to promote employee motivation by satisfying psychological needs and encouraging employees to achieve goals. Hence, successful gamification application experiences in organizations have led to the fact that now gamification is one of the most common motivation tools in contemporary modern organisations. This study aims to explore the importance and relevance of the affordances approach in gamification research for Human Resource Management (HRM) as well as its implications in organisational contexts. To achieve this aim, the databases of Web of Science, Wiley online library, Scopus, and EBSCO host were searched for relevant articles for this systematic literature review. It includes 35 articles with empirical results, relevant to the field of business and management. This research focuses on peer-reviewed studies published in the English language from 2015 to 2023. Methods used for presenting and synthesizing results included conducting a systematic literature review based on PRISMA reporting guidelines. Furthermore, the systematic literature review was conducted using the digital qualitative data analysis tool MaxQDA and Mendeley reference manager for importing bibliographic data. For the contribution of the field, themes related to affordances theory have been identified and the findings have been structured to demonstrate the interrelationships between these concepts and their relevance in the HRM context. This study reveals that affordances can vary depending on the environment and can be influenced by social dynamics, contextual factors, organizational practices, or individual perceptions. The comparison of the studies allowed the identification of research gaps and areas for future research on gamification in HRM. Furthermore, the review emphasizes the significance of the affordances approach in understanding how gamification can influence employee psychological and behavioural outcomes in HRM contexts.

Hyperconnectivity in resting-state fMRI as a marker of disease severity in Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1

Introduction: Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) patients show both structural and functional brain alterations, including abnormal resting-state (RS) functional connectivity. Although some studies have investigated RS functional connectivity in DM1, methodological differences make it challenging to draw consistent conclusions. Objectives: This study aims to analyze 1) RS functional connectivity in DM1 patients compared to healthy controls (HC), 2) graph theory metrics, 3) longitudinal connectivity variations, and 4) the relationship between connectivity and clinical, cognitive, and structural brain data. Methodology: Twenty-one DM1 patients and 21 matched HCs underwent 3 T MRI scans, including RS fMRI. Of these, 15 DM1 patients and 13 HCs participated in the follow-up after 3 years. Additionally, DM1 patients underwent baseline clinical, molecular and cognitive assessments. Functional connectivity analysis (ROI-to-ROI) and graph theory measures were employed. Longitudinal changes in connectivity were examined, and total hyperconnectivity and hypoconnectivity values were calculated to explore correlations with clinical, brain, and cognitive correlates. Results: DM1 patients showed widespread hyperconnectivity compared to HCs. Although no statistically significant differences were found in graph theory measures, patients tended to show decreased efficiency, strength, and clustering (with moderate effect sizes). Patients remained hyperconnected over time, with a progression similar to HCs. Hyperconnectivity was associated with more severe disease, greater muscular impairment, and molecular defects, as well as lower cognitive performance. Conversely, hypoconnectivity was associated with less severe disease. Discussion: DM1 patients are characterized by brain hyperconnectivity and a less efficient brain network organization. Hyperconnectivity is discussed as a compensatory mechanism and is suggested as a disease severity marker.
