Application of extracorporeal shockwave to regulate subchondral bone homeostasis through tumor necrosis factor-α/hypoxia-inducible factor-1α/vascular endothelial growth factor signaling pathway in treatment of talus bone marrow edema.

To investigate the effect of extracorporeal shock wave on the treatment of talus bone marrow edema by regulating subchondral bone homeostasis through tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)/hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α)/vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling pathway. A total of 81 patients with talus bone marrow edema admitted to our hospital from May 2019 to May 2021 were studied and divided into control group (n = 40) and extracorporeal shock group (n = 41) according to random number table method. The control group was given conventional treatment, and the extracorporeal shock group was combined with extracorporeal shock wave therapy on the basis of the control group. The expression of TNF-α, HIF-1α, and VEGF in the 2 groups were compared, pain degree, and the area of talus bone marrow edema was evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging. The visual analogue scale scores of 1 month, 2 months and 5 months after treatment were decreased in both groups, and the extracorporeal shock group was lower than the control group (P < .05). After 5 months of treatment, the expressions of TNF-α and HIF-1α were decreased in both groups, and the extracorporeal shock group was lower than the control group, VEGF was increased, and the extracorporeal shock group was higher than the control group (P < .05), and the western blot expression levels of TNF-α, HIF-1α and VEGF in the extracorporeal shock group were higher than the control group (P < .05). The dorsiflexion motion and plantar flexion motion of both groups were increased, and the extracorporeal shock group was higher than the control group (P < .05). Extracorporeal shock wave therapy can regulate subchondral bone homeostasis through TNF-α/HIF-1α/VEGF signaling pathway to treat talus bone marrow edema, reduce the pain degree of talus bone marrow edema, and improve ankle joint function.

Effect of extracorporeal shock wave combined with autologous platelet-rich plasma injection on rotator cuff calcific tendinitis: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

BackgroundRotator cuff calcific tendinitis (RCCT) is a common shoulder disease whose main symptoms include shoulder pain, limited mobility, and calcification deposits in the shoulder. Traditional treatment methods have certain limitations, so finding new treatment methods has become the focus of research. Extracorporeal shock wave (ESW) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments have attracted much attention due to their non-invasive and tissue repair-promoting properties; however, the efficacy of their combined treatment in RCCT remains unclear.MethodsThis study is designed as a single-center, assessment-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial with three parallel groups. Sixty subjects will be recruited and randomly divided into the ESW group, PRP group, and ESW combined with PRP group, in a 1:1:1 ratio. The entire intervention period is 4 weeks, and the follow-up period is 4 weeks. Outcomes will be measured at baseline (T0), after 1 week of intervention (T1), after 2 weeks of intervention (T2), after 4 weeks of intervention (T3), and after an additional 4 weeks of follow-up period (T4). The primary endpoint is the VAS score. Secondary endpoints are ASES, CMS, UCLA, and the location and size of calcified areas.DiscussionThis study aims to evaluate the efficacy of ESW therapy combined with PRP in treating RCCT. We compare the effects of single and combined treatments to explore their impact on disease symptoms, functional improvement, and calcification regression. Extracorporeal Shock Wave and Melatonin Alleviate Joint Capsule Fibrosis after Knee Trauma in Rats by Regulating Autophagy.

Joint contracture is a common clinical problem affecting joint function. Capsule fibrosis plays a pivotal role in the progression of Joint contracture. Previous studies have reported that autophagy plays a regulatory role in visceral fibrosis. This study aimed to investigate whether extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) and melatonin alleviate joint capsule fibrosis in rats with extended knee joint contracture by regulating autophagy. A rat knee joint extension contracture model was made. Then, the rats were treated with ESWT, melatonin, ESWT + melatonin, or ESWT + melatonin + mTOR agonist for 4 weeks. The range of motion (ROM) of the knee joints was measured. Joint capsules were collected and observed for pathological changes by H&E and Masson staining. LC3B protein expression was evaluated by immunofluorescence staining. TGF-β1, MMP-1, Col-Ⅰ, Col-Ⅲ, LC3, ATG7, Beclin1, p-AMPK, p-mTOR and p-ULK1 protein expressions were measured by Western blot assay. The intervention groups had significantly improved ROM of knee joint (P < 0.05), significantly improved pathological changes on HE and Masson staining, significantly decreased protein expressions of TGF-β1, MMP-1, Col-Ⅰ, Col-Ⅲ and pmTOR (P < 0.05), and significantly increased protein expressions of LC3B, LC3II/LC3I ratio, ATG7, Beclin1, p-AMPK, and p-ULK1 (P < 0.05). Among these groups, the effects demonstrated by the ESWT + melatonin group were the best. With the mTOR agonist supplement, the therapeutic effects of extracorporeal shock waves and melatonin were significantly reduced. ESWT plus melatonin alleviated knee joint capsule fibrosis in rats by regulating autophagy.

Effect of Extracorporeal Shock Wave on IGF-1, TNF-α, and IL-1in Joint Fluid of Patients with Temporomandibular Joint Disorder Syndrome.

As a new therapeutic method, extracorporeal shock wave (ESW) has shown remarkable efficacy in the treatment of temporomandibular joint disorder syndrome. Numerous studies have shown that it has the advantages of noninvasiveness, short treatment time, etc. It can effectively relieve pain and improve symptoms such as joint mobility and opening degree. In clinical practice, through accurate diagnosis and positioning of different patients, appropriate treatment parameters such as therapeutic transducer, frequency and pressure can be selected to significantly improve the efficacy. At the same time, follow-up evaluation after treatment, including temporomandibular joint disorder index and visual analogue score, is also helpful to fully understand the rehabilitation of patients. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) brings new hope to patients with temporomandibular joint disorder syndrome and has a broad application prospect.

Preliminary study of extracorporeal shock wave alleviating joint capsule fibrosis caused by internal bleeding of knee joint in rats

ABSTRACT Purpose Joint contracture is a common disease in clinical practice, joint bleeding is an important factor affecting the progression of joint contracture. This study aimed to explore the effect of extracorporeal shock wave on alleviating joint capsule fibrosis caused by intra-articular hemorrhage in rats. Methods Forty two SD rats were randomly divided into seven groups. Perform simple fixation and fixation after blood injection separately. Measure the range of motion of each group’s knee joints and calculate the corresponding degree of contraction. Use HE staining and Masson staining to detect the number of anterior joint capsule cells and collagen deposition. Detection of changes in Wnt1, β-catenin protein expression in joint capsule using Western blotting. Results Compared to group C, the degree of knee joint contracture in M1 and M2 groups of rats increased, and collagen deposition, cell number and Wnt1, β-catenin protein expression also increased accordingly. Compared to M1 and M2 groups, the degree of knee contraction in E1 and E2 groups were reduced, while collagen deposition, cell number and Wnt1, β-catenin protein expression were decreased, and the degree of joint contracture in NR1 and NR2 groups showed no significant improvement. Compared to NR1 and NR2 groups, the degree of knee contraction in E1 and E2 groups were reduced, while collagen deposition, cell number and Wnt1, β-catenin protein expression were decreased. Conclusions Both rat models of knee joint contracture were successful, and joint bleeding can exacerbate joint contracture. Extracorporeal shock waves alleviate joint capsule fibrosis caused by intra-articular bleeding in rats.

Effect of Extracorporeal Shock Wave on Upper Trapezius Trigger Points in Patients With Cervicogenic Headache: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

A recent study was designed to ascertain the impact of extracorporeal shock wave therapy on upper trapezius trigger points in cervicogenic headaches patients. A double-blinded randomized controlled trial study, in which 50 participants (11 male and 39 female) aged between 20-40 with cervicogenic headache were subdivided with randomization to group (A), which received traditional physical therapy and sham shock wave therapy, and group (B), which received traditional physical therapy and actual shock wave therapy. All assessments were performed by a therapist before and after the treatment program (4 wks). There was a significant difference of headache disability index, visual analog scale scores, and upper trapezius electromyographic characteristics with P value <0.05 in both groups, in favor of the shock wave group. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy could be used for clinical and research concerns because its positive effects on pain suppression, reduction of headache intensity, and restoration of muscle regular activity in cervicogenic headache patients.

The effect of extracorporeal shock wave on joint capsule fibrosis based on A2AR-Nrf2/HO-1 pathway in a rat extending knee immobilization model

Joint capsule fibrosis, a common complication of joint immobilization, is mainly characterized by abnormal collagen deposition. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) on reduced collagen deposition in the joint capsule during immobilization-induced joint capsule fibrosis. Additionally, the potential involvement of the adenosine A2A receptor (A2AR)-Neurotrophic factor e2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/Haem oxygenase-1 (HO-1) pathway was explored. Thirty 3-month-old male Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly assigned to five groups: control (C), immobilization model (IM), natural recovery (NR), ESWT intervention (EI), and ESWT combined with A2AR antagonist SCH 58261 intervention (CI). After the left knee joints of rats in the IM, NR, EI and CI groups were immobilized using a full-extension fixation brace for 4 weeks, the EI and CI groups received ESWT twice a week for 4 weeks. The CI group was also treated with ESWT following intraperitoneal injection of SCH 58261 (0.01 mg/kg) for 4 weeks. The range of motion of the left knee joint was measured, and the protein levels of collagens I and III, A2AR, phosphorylated-protein kinase A/protein kinase A (p-PKA/PKA), p-Nrf2/Nrf2, and HO-1 were analysed by Western blotting. The IM and NR groups showed significantly greater arthrogenic contracture than the C group (P < 0.05). Compared to the NR group, the EI and CI groups exhibited significant improvement in arthrogenic contracture (P < 0.05). Conversely, the EI group showed lower contracture than the CI group (P < 0.05). Similar results were observed for collagen deposition and the protein levels of collagens I and III. The intervention groups (EI and CI groups) showed higher levels of p-Nrf2/Nrf2 and HO-1 than the NR group (P < 0.05). Moreover, the EI group exhibited higher levels of p-PKA/PKA, p-Nrf2/Nrf2, and HO-1 than the CI group (P < 0.05). However, no significant difference was found in the A2AR levels among the five groups (P > 0.05). ESWT may activate A2AR, leading to the phosphorylation of PKA. Subsequently, Nrf2 may be activated, resulting in the upregulation of HO-1, which then reduces collagen deposition and alleviates immobilization-induced joint capsule fibrosis.

Preliminary investigation on the effect of extracorporeal shock wave combined with traction on joint contracture based on PTEN-PI3K/AKT pathway.

To investigate the intervention effect of extracorporeal shock wave combined with manual traction on fixation-induced knee contracture and its influence on PTEN-PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Thirty-six SD male rats were randomly divided into six groups. The left knee joints were not fixed in the control group (C group). Rats in other groups underwent brace fixation in the extended position of the left knee. After 4 weeks of bracing, it is randomly divided into five groups: Model group (M group), natural recovery group (NR group), extracorporeal shock wave treatment group (ET group), manual traction group (MT group), and extracorporeal shock wave combined with manual traction group (CT group). Joint range of motion (ROM) of left knee was carried out to assess joint function. Hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining and Masson staining were respectively used to assess the cell number and collagen deposition expression. Immunohistochemical staining and Western blot were used to assess protein levels of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), and protein kinase B (AKT). The combined therapy was more effective than extracorporeal shock wave therapy or manual traction alone against the joint ROM, cell number and the collagen deposition, low-expression of PTEN, and overexpression of PI3K/AKT in the anterior joint capsule of rats with knee extension contracture. Extracorporeal shock wave combined with manual traction can promote the histopathological changes of anterior joint capsule fibrosis, upregulate the protein expression of PTEN and downregulate the protein expression of PI3K/AKT in the fibrotic joint capsule in a rat joint contracture model.

Effect of extracorporeal shock waves on neuromuscular junctions versus carpal tunnel syndrome

Objective:to determine effectiveness of using extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) directly on the NMJ versus using it on injuries that exert pressure on the nerve such as (CTS). Background: The nervous system can be affected by many conditions and disorders that can disrupt its normal functioning and transmission of impulses, such as the destruction of neuromuscular junctions or pressure on nerves, such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Methods: The review was carried out by searching scientifically recognized medical databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Biomed, National Library of Medicine, Science direct library, Sage Journals and Spinger Link. Date restrictions were not applied. Conclusion: Preliminary research on extracorporeal shockwave therapy for carpal tunnel syndrome has shown encouraging results, leading to recommendations for its potential use as a treatment modality. However, the current literature examining shockwave therapy for neuromuscular junction dysfunction is limited. Further studies through high-quality human trials are still needed.

Effect of extracorporeal shock wave combined with pregabalin on patients with post-herpetic neuralgia.

Post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a chronic pain that is difficult to treat and lasts a long time, which poses a threat to patients' physical and mental health (MH) and quality of life. To analyze the effectiveness of extracorporeal shock wave (ESW) combined with pregabalin on PHN and its impact on PHN patients' quality of life with the help of a random number table. Totally 164 PHN patients were assigned to a control group (n = 82) or an observation group (n = 82). The observation group was given pregabalin combined with ESW treatment, while the control group was only given pregabalin. In the 2 groups, the general clinical data of the patients were compared. The inflammation levels including erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), CRP, lymphocyte count and albumin level in both groups were compared prior to and following therapy. In addition, the difference between pretreatment and post-treatment in the 2 groups was compared with respect to neuralgia and quality of life. After treatment, the observation group exhibited much lower ESR and CRP but quite higher lymphocyte count and albumin level relative to the control group (P < .05). Additionally, the improvement in visual analogue scale (VAS) scores and short form 36 (SF-36) scale scores including role-emotional (RE), MH, physical function (PF), general health (GH), bodily pain (BP), social function (SF), vitality (VT), and role-physical (RP) scores in the 2 groups were pronounced following treatment, which was more apparent in the observation group (P < .05). The combination of ESW with pregabalin can reduce the inflammation, improve the quality of life of PHN patients and effectively relieve their neuralgia.

The effect of extracorporeal shock wave on joint capsule fibrosis in rats with knee extension contracture: a preliminary study

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to observe the therapeutic effect of extracorporeal shock wave (ESW) on extensional joint contracture of knee joint in rats and its mechanism on articular capsule fibrosis. Thirty-two SD rats were randomly divided into blank control, immobilization, natural recovery, and ESW intervention groups. Except for the control group, the left knee joints of other rats were fixed with external fixation brace for 4 weeks when they were fully extended to form joint contracture. The effect of intervention was assessed by evaluating joint contracture, total cell count and collagen deposition in joint capsule, and protein expression levels of TGF-β1, p-Smad2/3, Smad2/3, p-JNK, JNK, I and III collagen in joint capsule. ESW can effectively reduce arthrogenic contracture, improve the histopathological changes of anterior joint capsule, inhibit the high expression of target protein and the excessive activation of TGF-β1/Smad2/3/JNK signal pathway. Inhibition of excessive activation of TGF-β1/Smad2/3/JNK pathway may be one of the potential molecular mechanisms by which extracorporeal shock wave can play a role.

External stimulation: A potential therapeutic strategy for tendon-bone healing.

Injuries at the tendon-bone interface are very common in the field of sports medicine, and healing at the tendon-bone interface is complex. Injuries to the tendon-bone interface can seriously affect a patient's quality of life, so it is essential to restore stability and promote healing of the tendon-bone interface. In addition to surgical treatment, the healing of tendons and bones can also be properly combined with extracorporeal stimulation therapy during the recovery process. In this review, we discuss the effects of extracorporeal shock waves (ESWs), low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS), and mechanical stress on tendon-bone healing, focusing on the possible mechanisms of action of mechanical stress on tendon-bone healing in terms of transcription factors and biomolecules. The aim is to provide possible therapeutic approaches for subsequent clinical treatment.

Effects of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Combined with Vivaphototherapy on Blood Perfusion, Inflammatory Response, and Prognosis in Burn Patients.

Objective To investigate the effect of extracorporeal shock wave treatment (ESWT) combined with water-filtered infrared-A (wIRA) therapy on pain, blood perfusion, and inflammatory response in burn patients. Methods A total of 120 burn patients treated in our hospital from May 2019 to June 2021 were selected and randomly divided into observation group (n = 60) and control group (n = 60). The control group was treated with wIRA, and the observation group was treated with ESWT combined with wIRA. The hospitalization conditions of the two groups were observed; the visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to evaluate the pain on the 1st, 7th, and 14th days of treatment in the two groups; the blood perfusion was compared between the two groups; the levels of cerebral neuropeptide (NPY), 5-serotonin (5-HT), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-10 (IL-10), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), serum intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), soluble-triggering receptor expressed myeloidcells-1 (sTREM-1), and soluble hemoglobin scavenger receptor (sCD163) were measured. Modified Vancouver Scar Scale (mVSS) was used to evaluate the wound scar at 3 and 6 months after the end of treatment. Results The wound healing rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the wound healing time and hospitalization time were significantly shorter than that in the control group (P < 0.05). On the 7th and 14th days of treatment, the VAS scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). On 1st, 7th, and 14th days of treatment, the blood perfusion volume in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The scar scores in the observation group at 3 months and 6 months after treatment were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of NPY, 5-HT, PGE2, CRP, IL-10, TNF-α, sICAM-1, sTREM-1, and sCD163 in the observation group were improved more than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion ESWT combined with wIRA therapy can effectively improve the hospitalization situation of burn patients, relieve pain, improve blood perfusion, reduce scar hyperplasia, reduce inflammation, and have a good therapeutic effect.

Effects of Extracorporeal Shock Waves on Microcirculation and Angiogenesis in the in vivo Wound Model of the Diver Box

Introduction: Extracorporeal shock waves (ESWs) have been shown to have a positive effect on skin wound healing; however, little is known on the regeneration of the microcirculation and angiogenesis as well as the different application modes. Methods: A total of 40 BALB/c mice were provided with dorsal skin fold chambers and were divided into 3 therapy groups (n = 30) and one control group (n = 10). The 3 therapy groups were treated with shock waves at different pulse rates (500–1,000 pulses/min) and application frequencies (day 0 and day 6 or day 0 only). Photographic documentation and intravital microscopy were carried out on day 1, 2, 4, and 6 after wounding. Results: Using the newly developed Diver Box, shock waves could be applied in vivo without mechanical tissue damage. Shock wave therapy to skin wounds demonstrated to induce faster wound closure rates in the beginning than controls in groups with higher pulse rates and frequencies of the shock waves. Furthermore, the regeneration of microcirculation and perfusion in the healing skin was significantly improved after the application of, in particular, higher pulse rates as given by increased numbers of perfused capillaries and functional vessel density. The study of inflammation showed, especially in high-pulse ESW groups, higher leukocyte counts, and rolling leukocytes over time until day 6 as a response to the induction of inflammatory reaction after ESW application. Angiogenesis showed a marked increase in positive areas as given by sprouts, coils, and recruitments in all ESW groups, especially between days 4 and 6. Conclusion: The major findings of this trial demonstrate that ESW therapy to skin wounds is effective and safe. This is demonstrated by the initially faster wound closure rate, but later the same wound closure rate in the treatment groups than in controls. Furthermore, during the regeneration of microcirculation and perfusion in the healing skin, a significant improvement was observed after the application of, in particular, higher ESW pulse rates, suggesting an ESW-related increase in nutrient and oxygen supply in the wound tissue.

Effect of extracorporeal shock waves on inflammation and angiogenesis of integumentary tissue in obese individuals: stimulating repair and regeneration.

The technology of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) has been studied around the world for its possible benefits in the treatment and rehabilitation of aesthetic disorders. To better elucidate its real physiological effect on the integumentary tissue, this study was proposed aimed at evaluating whether ESWT can act to stimulate the inflammatory process and angiogenesis in the dermis and epidermis of obese individuals. This is an immunohistological study that evaluated a set of samples of the integumentary tissue of women with grade II obesity with weight loss of 10% of the initial weight undergoing ESWT treatment; the collection of biological material was performed at the time of surgery of bariatric surgery. For immunohistochemical evaluation, the markers to assess the presence and distribution of inflammatory cells, anti-COX-2, CD3, CD20, CD163, and NK were used. For physiological stimulus pathways for blood vessel angiogenesis, markers CD 34, CD 105 and VEGF were used. Fourteen obese women were included in the study. Positivity was evidenced in the epidermal expression of markers of the inflammatory process COX-2, CD3, CD20, NK cells, CD68, and CD163 (p < 0.0001) in the intervention sample when compared to controls. There was a positive expression for the angiogenesis markers CD105 and VEGF (p < 0.0001) when comparing the intervention group with the control group. It was concluded that ESWT can stimulate a local inflammatory process, mediating and modulating important growth factors to act in the repair process and skin tissue regeneration, being considered a promising treatment for skin diseases related to weight gain or loss.

Dose-related effects of extracorporeal shock waves on orthodontic tooth movement in rabbits

The purpose of this animal study is to investigate the quantitative effects of extracorporeal shock waves applied at two different impulses and with two different applicators on orthodontic tooth movement. Thirty-five New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into five groups (n = 7): the four experimental extracorporeal shock wave groups—focused/500 impulses, focused/1000 impulses, unfocused/500 impulses, and unfocused/1000 impulses—and the control group. Orthodontic tooth movement was achieved by application of reciprocal force between two maxillary incisors. In the experimental groups, animals received 500 or 1000 impulses of extracorporeal shock waves at 0.19 mJ/mm2 with focused or unfocused applicators depending on the group to which they belonged. These experiments were conducted on days 0, 7, and 14. Orthodontic tooth movement was measured with 0.01 mm accuracy at one-week intervals. On days 7 and 21, the bone-specific alkaline phosphatase levels were measured from blood samples. After 21 days, the animals were sacrificed and the area between the two maxillary incisors was stereologically examined. Orthodontic tooth movement in the focused/500 impulses and focused/1000 impulses groups was significantly increased compared to the control group. A significant difference in bone-specific alkaline phosphatase levels between the unfocused/500 impulses and control groups was found at 21st day. Stereological analysis showed that there were significant increases of the formation of new bone, connective tissue, and vessels in the experimental groups. The application of extracorporeal shock waves, especially with a focused applicator, could accelerate orthodontic tooth movement.

To investigate the biological mechanism of the effect of extracorporeal shock wave combined with plateletrich plasma on the healing of reconstructed tendon bone in a rabbit model of rotator cuff tear. 40 New Zealand white rabbits aged 4-5 mo were selected, 32 rabbits were randomly selected and each rabbit was executed at 4-8 w postoperatively and these rabbits were randomly divided into control group, shockwave group, platelet-rich plasma group and shockwave+platelet-rich plasma group. The tendon bone healing site was observed at 2, 4 and 8 w after surgery and the content of transforming growth factor beta 1 and basic fibroblast growth factor were measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and western blot, while the biomechanical test was performed on the tendon bone healing specimens. The results showed that the content of neovascularization at the tendon-bone interface at 4 w and 8 w was significantly increased in shockwave, platelet-rich plasma and shockwave+platelet-rich plasma groups. The basic fibroblast growth factor and transforming growth factor beta 1 messenger RNA and protein expression tended to increase after surgery in all four groups and the levels in shockwave, plateletrich plasma and shockwave+platelet-rich plasma groups was significantly increased, while the highest expression in shockwave+platelet-rich plasma group. The maximum load force of the 3 experiment groups was all significantly increased. Besides, the maximum tensile distance was significantly longer in shockwave+platelet-rich plasma group. The combination of extracorporeal shockwave and plateletrich plasma showed optimal performance in the tensile performance of the supraspinatus tendon-bone combination, the maturity of the tendon-bone interface and the content of growth factors that promote the healing of the tendon bone, indicating that the combination of extracorporeal shock wave and plateletrich plasma can promote the healing process of the tendon bone after rotator cuff tears and improve its strength and ultimate load.
