Driving remote team success through knowledge management practices in the Jordanian high-tech industry

This study aims to investigate the influence of remote work on team effectiveness in high-tech enterprises in Jordan, specifically focusing on knowledge management as a mediator. The study utilized a quantitative research design, with 254 participants actively participating in remote work settings across high-tech firms in Jordan. The sample was chosen based on the participants’ personal experiences with remote work arrangements, which provide valuable insights into the interplay between remote working conditions and team dynamics. The paper designed a structured questionnaire to elicit responses from employees about the variables under investigation. The survey data were analyzed using SmartPLS4 to validate the theoretical framework and research hypotheses. The results show a significant positive relationship between remote work and team effectiveness, as well as an improvement in knowledge management practices under telework conditions. Knowledge management practices refer to communicative activities regarding the systematic collection, organization, sharing, and application of knowledge resources. The importance of effective knowledge management practices is realized in remote settings, primarily through increased team efficiency and productivity. These results are statistically significant (p = 0.000), which stresses the importance of effective remote teamwork with regard to knowledge management.

Impact of Knowledge Management Strategies on Innovation Performance in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Rwanda

Purpose: The aim of the study was to assess the impact of knowledge management strategies on innovation performance in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Rwanda. Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. Findings: The study indicate that effective knowledge management practices within SMEs positively influence innovation performance, leading to enhanced competitiveness and sustainable growth. Implementing knowledge management strategies such as knowledge sharing, creation, and utilization facilitates idea generation, problem-solving, and product/service development. Furthermore, fostering a knowledge-sharing culture among employees promotes collaboration, learning, and creativity, thus fueling innovation within SMEs. Additionally, leveraging technology platforms and tools for knowledge management facilitates seamless information exchange, retrieval, and utilization, further enhancing innovation capabilities. Implications to Theory, Practice and Policy: Resource-based view, social capital theory and dynamic capabilities theory may be used to anchor future studies on assessing the impact of knowledge management strategies on innovation performance in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Rwanda. SMEs should prioritize investments in knowledge management initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the organization. Policymakers should develop supportive frameworks and incentives to encourage SMEs to invest in knowledge management initiatives.

Relationship between open innovation and innovation performance within high-tech firms: The mediating role of knowledge management capability

In the current competitive global marketplace, innovation is key for high-tech firms to thrive. Open innovation offers a promising approach, but its effectiveness remains unclear. Therefore, this research explored the connection between open innovation, knowledge management capability, and innovation performance within high-tech firms. We used a mediation approach to highlight the central role of knowledge management capability in the relationship between open innovation and innovation performance. We used a survey questionnaire approach to collect data from the 462 employees of high-tech firms on open innovation, knowledge management capability, and innovation performance using a convenient sampling technique. We used partial least square structural equations modeling through PLS-SEM statistics. Results indicated that open innovation has a direct, positive and significant connection with innovation performance. Similarly, the current research serves as a pioneering exploration into mediation analysis, highlighting the mediating role of knowledge management capability that influences the relationship between open innovation and innovation performance. Empirical studies offer valuable insights for leaders of high-tech firms, guiding them to identify effective knowledge management practices and determine the ideal extent of open innovation to boost innovation performance. The current study reveals novel insights into the benefits of knowledge management capability in enhancing open innovation efforts within firms. This research provides valuable implications and future research directions.

Exploring The Influence Mechanism of Strategic Leadership, Employee Engagement and Job Involvement: A Framework Model Approach

In the dynamic landscape of higher education, the enrichment of college teachers is pivotal for fostering effective learning environments and promoting student success. The paper investigated the impact of knowledge management (KM) practices on the professional development and enrichment of college teachers. Drawing upon a synthesis of existing literature and empirical studies, this research elucidates the mechanisms through which KM practices contribute to the enhancement of teaching quality, innovation, and collaboration among college faculty. It explores how institutional policies, incentives, and recognition systems can incentivize teachers to actively engage in knowledge creation, dissemination, and continuous professional development activities. Moreover, the study examines the challenges and barriers associated with implementing KM practices in college settings, such as resistance to change, time constraints, technological barriers, and cultural factors. It proposes strategies and best practices for overcoming these challenges and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration among college teachers. The findings suggest that effective KM practices play a crucial role in enriching college teachers by enhancing their teaching effectiveness, fostering innovation and creativity, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and facilitating continuous professional development. The article concluded with recommendations for policymakers, educational leaders, and practitioners to leverage KM practices for the continuous enrichment and professional growth of college teachers, thereby enhancing the quality of higher education and student learning outcomes.

Understanding of the concept of knowledge management for knowledge management system implementation in two mobile telecommunication companies in Namibia

This study investigates the understanding of knowledge management (KM) for knowledge management systems (KMS) implementation for efficient KM practice in two mobile telecommunications (MT) companies in Namibia. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study employed convergent parallel design via parallel sampling techniques to gather insights. Three hundred and twenty-nine questionnaires were disseminated via online surveys using simple random sampling from 1,584 employees. The questionnaires returned were then accepted based on the comprehension of KM concepts for KMS implementation to introduce KM practice. Quantitative data was subjected to descriptive analysis using SPSS. Qualitative data underwent thematic analysis using Atlas TI. The findings of this study show that Namibia's two MT companies stand to gain significant advantages by implementing KM practices based on their understanding and implementation of KM. By enhancing their KM capabilities, these companies can leverage this organisational knowledge (OK) to drive innovation and adequately meet the demands of a fiercely competitive, knowledge-based society (KBS). This article is of significant value to KM scholars, professionals, decision-makers, and policymakers as an introductory guide to the comprehension of KM for KMS and how they can facilitate effective KM practices within Namibia.

However, challenges related to knowledge transfer and limited resources can hinder the full realization of KM benefits in these organizations. Cultivating a strong learning culture is crucial for continuous improvement. KM strategies must be adapted to the local context and cultural nuances of African countries to maximize their effectiveness.
 Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Resource-Based View (RBV) theory, social capital theory & dynamic capabilities theory may be used to anchor future studies on effect of knowledge management practices on organizational performance in African SMEs. SMEs in Africa should tailor their knowledge management practices to align with their unique organizational cultures, structures, and resource constraints. Governments in African countries should consider implementing policies that provide incentives, subsidies, or tax breaks to SMEs that adopt effective knowledge management practices.

Knowledge Management Practices and Job Satisfaction at DFCU Bank in Uganda

This study examines the relationship between knowledge management practices and Job Satisfaction at DFCU Bank in Uganda. The study is based on the firm's knowledge-based theory, which states that knowledge is a critical resource for organizations and that effective knowledge management can improve organizational performance. 150 employees from DFCU Bank were surveyed to gather data on knowledge management practices and employee performance levels. The results of the study indicate that there is a positive relationship between knowledge management practices and employee performance. Specifically, employees who reported higher levels of knowledge management practices also reported higher levels of employee performance.The study also identified the knowledge management practices that were most effective in improving Job Satisfaction at DFCU Bank. These practices include knowledge sharing, training and development, and communication.The findings of this study have important implications for organizations looking to improve employee performance. By implementing effective knowledge management practices, organizations can enhance employee performance, leading to improved organizational performance

Organizational Integration, Knowledge Management, and Sustainable Entrepreneurship for SMEs in Developing Economies

Abstract This study underscores the indispensable role of knowledge management (KM) in promoting sustainable entrepreneurship (SE) among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing economies. SMEs, being the backbone of various facets of society, including employment rates, gross domestic product growth, innovation, social cohesion, economic development, growth, and public policies, should be considered. SE is a pressing issue for low- and high-income countries and developed and developing economies. The study utilized a self-administered questionnaire to gather data from 490 SMEs operating in different commercial regions and industries, providing a large-scale empirical study that fills gaps in the existing literature. The study highlights the significance of KM processes in facilitating organizational integration (OI) activities, which positively influence the SE practices of these SMEs. The research offers practical recommendations for SMEs to foster SE through effective KM practices and OI strategies. Moreover, the study provides valuable insights for future research in this area. The findings of this study have substantial implications for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers seeking to enhance the entrepreneurial landscape in developing economies.

The Impact of Knowledge Management Practices on Job Satisfaction of Moroccan Employees: Mediating Role of Organizational Commitment

Purpose: The study aims to investigate how knowledge management (KM) practices impact JS among Moroccan employees, while also exploring the mediating role of organizational commitment (OC) in this relationship.
 
 Theoretical framework: The study draws upon established theories in KM, job satisfaction (JS), and OC. It suggests that effective KM practices can enhance JS and that OC acts as a mediator in this relationship.
 
 Design/Methodology/Approach: This study employs a deductive approach and quantitative research design to explore the relationship between KM practices and JS in Moroccan SMEs. Data from 175 respondents were analyzed using linear regression with the assistance of the SPSS statistical software.
 
 Findings: Effective KM practices positively impact job satisfaction (JS) in Moroccan SMEs. Additionally, organizational commitment (OC) acts as a mediator between KM practices and JS. Implementing successful KM strategies and fostering employee commitment can enhance JS in Moroccan SMEs.
 
 Research, practical & social implications: The study's implications highlight that implementing effective KM practices in Moroccan SMEs can have far-reaching benefits, including increased JS, enhanced productivity, improved talent attraction, and positive contributions to socio-economic development, emphasizing the significance of KM for organizational success and broader societal advancement.
 Originality/Value: The originality of this study lie in its examination of KM practices specifically within Moroccan SMEs. By focusing on this context, the study provides unique insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by these organizations, offering practical implications and recommendations that can contribute to the development of tailored KM strategies for similar SMEs in Morocco and beyond.

The Impact of Digital Knowledge Management on Tax Compliance Efficiency: An Empirical Study of the General Tax Authority

This paper investigates the relationship between knowledge management processes and tax efficiency in the context of tax administration organizations. A sample of 52 employees from the Federal Taxation Bureau was selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire examining various aspects of knowledge management processes, including knowledge acquisition, organization, and transfer, as well as tax efficiency indicators, such as compliance and effectiveness.
 Statistical methods, including Pearson Correlation and multiple regression analysis, were used to analyze the data. Our findings reveal a statistically significant positive relationship between knowledge management processes and tax efficiency, with a Pearson Correlation Coefficient of 0.561 at a significance level of 0.01. The results also support the hypothesis that knowledge management processes have a substantial impact on tax efficiency. Specifically, we found that the combined effect of knowledge management process variables accounts for 31.5% of the variance in tax efficiency.
 This study contributes to the understanding of the role of digital knowledge management in enhancing tax administration organizations' performance. The findings suggest that investing in effective knowledge management practices, such as capturing, storing, and sharing tax-related information, can lead to improved tax efficiency. Based on these results, we recommend that tax administration organizations focus on developing and implementing robust knowledge management strategies to boost their performance and compliance with tax regulations.

Role of Knowledge Management in Firm Performance: A Quantitative Study

There is an examination of the role of knowledge management (KM) in firm behaviour and performance. The following literature review also provides insights for managers and policymakers on the importance of implementing effective KM practices to enhance firm performance. The previous literature for this study finds that effective KM practices positively impact several aspects of firm performance, including innovation, productivity, and profitability. Additionally, it shows that the impact of KM on performance is stronger in firms with a culture that values and encourages knowledge sharing and collaboration. Overall, this review contributes to the existing literature on KM and firm performance by providing empirical evidence of the positive impact of KM on both financial and innovation performance. It also highlights the importance of considering the level of KM implementation, the extent of KM practices, OL, and OC when examining the relationship between KM and firm performance.

An empirical study of critical success factors in implementing knowledge management systems (KMS): The moderating role of culture

This research focuses on the moderating effect of culture on the relationships between KMS and other variables affecting KMS in the service industry. The effects of a number of variables on KMS were examined via analysis and hypothesis testing. These variables included culture; people; process; strategy; and technology. The results show that culture and people have a substantial impact on KMS's performance, emphasizing the need of cultivating a supportive company culture and empowering employees. Furthermore, strategy and technology were shown to be critical in allowing effective knowledge management practices in the service industry. The research also investigates the moderating impacts of culture on these linkages, demonstrating that culture modulates the impact of process, technology, and strategy on KMS. However, it was shown that the interplay between culture and people did not substantially alter the link between people and KMS. These results provide useful insights for firms looking to improve their knowledge management methods, underlining the need to take culture into account and aligning it with strategic goals and technology solutions. While the study adds to our understanding of knowledge management in the service industry, further research is needed to investigate other elements and situations. Overall, this research has practical significance for firms looking to enhance their knowledge management activities and overall organizational performance.

Evaluating the effect of knowledge risks on sustainability: the mediating role of organizational performance

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the links between knowledge risks, organizational performance and knowledge-intensive firms (KIFs)' sustainability.Design/methodology/approachA questionnaire was administered with a sample of 427 respondents from Lebanon. The gathered data were analyzed using SEM approach.FindingsThe empirical evidence confirms the potential role of knowledge risks in reducing the sustainability of firms. Furthermore, organizational performance was revealed to partially mediate the relationship between knowledge risks and sustainability.Practical implicationsThe study's findings inspire managers of KIFs to use effective knowledge management practices to mitigate potential knowledge risks.Originality/valueKnowledge risks and knowledge risk management are still unexplored in the literature. This paper is a pioneering study that advances the knowledge management field by emphasizing the significance of knowledge risks and their influence on the performance and sustainability of KIFs in Lebanon, a country with a culture distinct from that of Western contexts.

Testing the interaction effect of knowledge management and creative climate towards organizational innovation: Evidence from parastatal organizations in Uganda

Extant literature shows that knowledge management needs the support of creative climate towards organizational innovation. However, existing studies have paid less attention regarding the interaction effect of knowledge management and creative climate on organizational innovation. This paper aims to clarify this relationship by examining the interaction effect of knowledge management and creative climate on organizational innovation in parastatal organizations in Uganda. This paper seeks to broaden the knowledge based innovation system domain by including the creative climate. This paper used an explanatory cross-sectional design where quantitative data were collected from 235 managers of 51 parastatals using a survey instrument. Data were aggregated to a parastatal level. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the interaction effect. This paper clarifies the interaction effect of knowledge management and creative climate towards organizational innovation. Knowledge management and creative climate independently rather than interactively enhance organizational innovation. The findings suggest that effective knowledge management practices and favorable creative climate are essential for organizational innovation. This paper suggests the adoption of an effective knowledge management system and a favorable creative climate as antecedents for organizational innovation. This paper makes a contribution on the question whether knowledge management interacts with creative climate to build organizational innovation, which seems to have been less studied.

The Thai food industry has faced the crisis but government has devised strategies and policies to revitalize the industry successfully. Thailand is considered as one of the most attractive destinations in the world for international tourists and expected to remain attractive destination due to its landscape, culture and tourism opportunities. The current research effort investigated the business growth influenced by efficient human capital, suitable leadership style and effective knowledge management practices. The study found that human capital influences the knowledge management and business growth, the leadership also found to be statistically significant that it influences the knowledge management and business growth, moreover the mediation role of knowledge management has been reported as statistically significant, that effective knowledge management practices fully mediates relation among leadership, human capital and business growth. The study was conducted during pandemic restrictions, the future studies must be conducted with larger sample size and in comparison, with other related associated industries.

Factors Limiting Knowledge Management among Construction Small and Medium Enterprises

The construction industries of both developed and developing countries are dominated by construction small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The industry is project-based and requires knowledge workers for performance. Construction SMEs contribute significantly to employment generation, economic growth and prosperity, innovation diffusion, among others. They, however, are faced with poor productivity and performance, especially in the area of time, cost, quality and safety. This is hinged on their rigidity and inflexibility to the adoption of modern management techniques, amidst other external environmental constraints. Knowledge is a vital asset of organisations and knowledge management (KM) is a critical strategic and tactical management tool for improving organisations productivity, competitiveness and survival. This study aims to assess the factors limiting a full-scale implementation of effective KM practices among construction SMEs, especially on construction projects in the south-south region of Nigeria. This study leverages an electronic questionnaire and snowballs sampling technique to gather data from the SMEs' construction professional employees in the study. The collected data were analysed using factor analysis and the Mann-Whitney U test. The study found that technology-related barriers, cultural and management barriers, motivation and time barriers, awareness and communication barriers, and insecurity barriers, were the major cluster of factors limiting effective KM implementation by SMEs. Furthermore, no significant statistical difference in the perception of the small and medium-sized organisations was also found. It is recommended that adequate government and top management supports are needed to overcome the barriers and entrench KM practices as the key tactical and strategic tool for improving productivity and performance and ensuring the sustenance and survival of the construction SMEs.

Investigating Resilience and Performance of Emergent Financial Technology Startups Endorsed by Knowledge Management

The paper seeks to examine the effect of knowledge management on resilience and performance of emergent financial technology startups (Fintechs) in Lahore, Pakistan through the development of dynamic capabilities when confronted with environmental dynamism. Based on the tentative deductions derived from Dynamic Capability View (DCV) of emergent financial sector ventures, this paper employs Partial Least Square for Structured Equation Modeling to investigate these hypotheses. Sample of current cross-sectional study involves empirical analysis performed on primary data assembled from knowledge workers employed in emergent financial technology startups. Knowledge management practices also have a positive impact on the developing dynamic capabilities of the organization. Implementation of effective knowledge management practices results in reconfiguring and advancing the companies’ dynamic competencies under the conditions of dynamism and unexpected changes occurring in the external business environment. Consequently, fin-techs succeed in accomplishing their goals of spirit, adaptive capacity i.e. increased resilience and escalated performance.
