Use of Generative AI for Improving Health Literacy in Reproductive Health: Case Study.

Patients find technology tools to be more approachable for seeking sensitive health-related information, such as reproductive health information. The inventive conversational ability of artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots, such as ChatGPT (OpenAI Inc), offers a potential means for patients to effectively locate answers to their health-related questions digitally. A pilot study was conducted to compare the novel ChatGPT with the existing Google Search technology for their ability to offer accurate, effective, and current information regarding proceeding action after missing a dose of oral contraceptive pill. A sequence of 11 questions, mimicking a patient inquiring about the action to take after missing a dose of an oral contraceptive pill, were input into ChatGPT as a cascade, given the conversational ability of ChatGPT. The questions were input into 4 different ChatGPT accounts, with the account holders being of various demographics, to evaluate potential differences and biases in the responses given to different account holders. The leading question, "what should I do if I missed a day of my oral contraception birth control?" alone was then input into Google Search, given its nonconversational nature. The results from the ChatGPT questions and the Google Search results for the leading question were evaluated on their readability, accuracy, and effective delivery of information. The ChatGPT results were determined to be at an overall higher-grade reading level, with a longer reading duration, less accurate, less current, and with a less effective delivery of information. In contrast, the Google Search resulting answer box and snippets were at a lower-grade reading level, shorter reading duration, more current, able to reference the origin of the information (transparent), and provided the information in various formats in addition to text. ChatGPT has room for improvement in accuracy, transparency, recency, and reliability before it can equitably be implemented into health care information delivery and provide the potential benefits it poses. However, AI may be used as a tool for providers to educate their patients in preferred, creative, and efficient ways, such as using AI to generate accessible short educational videos from health care provider-vetted information. Larger studies representing a diverse group of users are needed.

The Role of Literacy in Creasing Awareness of Waste Management

This research aimed to analyze the role of literacy in increasing awareness of waste management. This research utilized a qualitative method. The results indicated that addressing waste management issues also requires the integration of technology. Digital media usage significantly influences the shift in individuals' mindsets. Enhancing waste literacy can be achieved through social media platforms. Educational initiatives can leverage various features provided by these platforms. Tailoring educational approaches to the age group of the target audience is crucial for effective information delivery. Merely providing education and knowledge is insufficient to cultivate self-awareness among individuals. It would be advantageous if education is complemented by tangible actions, such as community service, outreach programs, and training sessions. These activities should be customized to suit different age groups and environments.

Exploring the Integration of ChatGPT in Inquiry-based Learning: Teacher Perspectives

ChatGPT, an AI-powered service known for its effective delivery of information and solutions, has the potential to transform education, scientific problem-solving, and student learning. However, to fully harness its advantages, understanding the pedagogical approach needed is essential. This study explores teachers' awareness of ChatGPT and the inquiry-based learning (IBL) 5E model, examines ChatGPT's effective use within IBL, and investigates teachers' perceptions and experiences when integrating ChatGPT into the IBL framework. Employing an exploratory qualitative approach, this research gains insight into teachers' perspectives on ChatGPT's integration into IBL. The study involves two distinct focus groups comprising Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Senior Secondary School (SSS) science teachers in Nigeria. The findings highlight that while some teachers have actively integrated ChatGPT into the IBL 5E model and are already experiencing its benefits, others are at varying stages of awareness and adoption. The interest and curiosity expressed by some teachers suggest a potential for broader adoption as educators become more familiar with ChatGPT's capabilities within the context of IBL. This aligns with the idea that technology integration often involves a phased approach, with early adopters paving the way for broader usage.

Commentary] Potential Mechanisms of Continuity of Care and Future Research

High continuity in primary care has positive impact on the health of patients and populations, but the traditional long-term relationship of a patient with one specific primary care provider is no longer given. Insight into the underlying mechanisms of continuity in primary care can help to design effective teams and networks of healthcare providers. Eight different mechanisms of continuity of care are proposed: matching of patient and provider, time for patient care, healing relationship, effective information delivery, effective counselling, monitoring in care episodes, coherence of treatment, and absence of interruption due to hand-overs. Empirical research on the mechanisms of continuity in modern primary care is required.

Development of a communication platform for patients with head and neck cancer for effective information delivery and improvement of doctor–patient relationship: application of treatment journey-based service blueprint

BackgroundEffective communication and information delivery enhance doctor–patient relationships, improves adherence to treatment, reduces work burden, and supports decision-making. The study developed a head and neck cancer (HNC) communication platform to support effective delivery of information about HNC treatment and improve the doctor-patient relationship.MethodsThis study was structured in three main phases: 1) The requirement elicitation phase sought an understanding of the HNC treatment journey and service failure points (FPs) obtained through patient/medical staff interviews and observations, along with a review of the electronic health record system; 2) The development phase involved core needs analysis, solutions development through a co-creation workshop, and validation of the solutions through focus groups; and 3) the proposed HNC communication platform was integrated with the current treatment system, and the flow and mechanism of the interacting services were structured using a service blueprint (SB).ResultsTwenty-two service FPs identified through interviews and observations were consolidated into four core needs, and solutions were proposed to address each need: an HNC treatment journey map, cancer survivor stories, operation consent redesign with surgical illustrations, and a non-verbal communication toolkit. The communication platform was designed through the SB in terms of the stage at which the solution was applied and the actions and interactions of the service providers.ConclusionsThe developed platform has practical significance, reflecting a tangible service improvement for both patients and medical staff, making it applicable in hospital settings.

What are the mechanisms underlying the delivery of survivorship care information in Australia? A realist review.

Quality survivorship information is an essential component of cancer care. However, survivors often report not receiving this information and healthcare professionals report limited practical guidance on how to effectively deliver survivorship information. Therefore, this study used realist review methods to identify mechanisms reported within the published literature for communicating survivorship information and to understand the contextual factors that make these mechanisms effective. Full-text papers published in CINAHL, PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and Academic Search Ultimate were included. Studies included in this review were conducted in Australia between January 2006 and December 2023, and reported on how information regarding survivorship care was communicated to adult cancer survivors living in the community. This review utilized realist methodologies: text extracts were converted to if-then statements used to generate context-mechanism-outcome theories. Fifty-one studies were included and six theories for mechanisms that underpin the effective delivery of survivorship information were formed. These include: (1) tailoring information based on the survivors' background, (2) enhancing communication among providers, (3) employing dedicated survivorship staff, (4) providing survivorship training, (5) reducing the burden on survivors to navigate their care, and (6) using multiple modalities to provide information. Findings can inform practical guidance for how survivorship care information is best delivered in practice. Clinicians can apply this guidance to improve their individual interactions with cancer survivors, as can policymakers to develop healthcare systems and procedures that support effective communication of cancer survivorship information.

URGENSI PENGAWASAN DALAM PENYUSUNAN DPTb DAN DPK MENGAHADAPI PEMILU 2024 DI BAWASLU PADANG PARIAMAN

DPT (Permanent Voter List) comes from data from the last general election and elections. Through this DPT, the public can actively participate in the 2024 elections. One indicator of the success of the election is high voter participation, because it will provide strong legitimacy to whoever wins and becomes the government. If people are not registered in the DPT, they can propose an Additional Voter List (DPTb) so they can exercise their voting rights. Apart from that, the community also maintains a Special Voter List (DPK), which is a list of voters who have a residency identity but are not yet registered in the DPT and DPTb. For this reason, it is important for the Pariman Regency Bawaslu to supervise the DPTb and DPK proposal stages. Election monitoring strategies that can be carried out in involving the community are (1) Mapping and strengthening participants, (2) Determining appropriate information content, (3) Effective delivery of information, (4) Panwaslu as a facilitator. The methods used in this service are lectures, questions and answers, and discussions. The lecture was carried out in presenting material on forms of supervision that participants can carry out, reading potential problems in determining the DPTb and DPK and providing solutions so that the 2024 resumption runs smoothly. This activity was held on Tuesday 26 August 2023 at the Sambalado Hall, Jalan Zaini, Simpang Kurai Taji Village, Pariaman City.

SITEPIS Contraception is an Extension Officer in Providing Information on Family Planning in Indonesia

This study addresses the vital role of information as a reproductive health right and emphasizes the responsibility of family planning officers, including health workers, to disseminate accurate information for ensuring public reproductive health. The research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of SITEPIS Contraception, an online information service designed to aid family planning officers in conveying contraceptive information. SITEPIS is a web application offering comprehensive information on contraception, medical eligibility criteria, and a live chat service. This study involves 28 family planning officers at sub-district and village levels in Bogor and West Lombok districts. Employing a descriptive research approach, the study includes socialization events introducing Sitepis Contraception, encouraging usage, and collecting officers' evaluations. Results indicate positive feedback from all officers, citing the website's appealing design, user-friendly accessibility, and essential features for effective information delivery. Despite challenges related to internet network support in certain areas, officers express willingness to use the SITEPIS website for their community information duties. Notably, while face-to-face interaction is preferred by most officers, SITEPIS contraception serves as a valuable tool for information dissemination. The study underscores the underutilization of online information as the primary method among family planning officers in Indonesia. Despite this, it recognizes the potential of online platforms, like SITEPIS, in reaching diverse societal levels. The findings emphasize the need for further examination of SITEPIS Contraception from the community's perspective, the primary target audience, to enhance its effectiveness. In conclusion, the study advocates for the integration of online information tools to empower family planning officers in fulfilling their crucial role as information providers.

메타버스를 활용한 한국·싱가포르 국제교류 수업의 실천

This study aims to practice international exchange classes between Korea and Singapore using the metaverse and to seek the meaning of learning and encounters in the metaverse space. As a result of the elements of the metaverse to the autonomous cooperative learning model, discussion between learners on topic research and presentation methods was more emphasized than in conventional classes. Since the introduction of data in the metaverse is mainly done in the form of web postings, effective information delivery strategies that take this into account have been discussed a lot. In addition, since the entire learning- sub-topic- mini-subject learning spaces are separated and connected, communication between group members was greatly required to create a harmonious space composition with overall learning while maintaining the individuality of the subject selected by the learner. As a result of class execution, in terms of learning, the strengthening of learning accountability due to the occupation of learning space, the creation of a two-sided space of connection and exclusion, and the autonomy of learning between exploration and wandering were meaningfully observed. As for the dimension of meeting, it was possible to confirm the aspects of hospitality experienced as hosts and guests and the new ideas of hospitality discovered by the learners.

Aim: The aim of the article was to analyze various approaches to diagnostic disclosure considering its bioethical, soci-ocultural, psychoemotional and sociolinguistic implications. Results: Diagnosis disclosure is considered to be one of the major challenges of doctor – patient communication as it brings forth complex bioethical, legal, sociocultural, and psychoemotional tensions. The former non-maleficence approach to diagnosis delivery has been replaced with the one based on the bioethical principle of patient autonomy obliging physicians to reveal information truthfully and completely. The current bioethical approach has been refined to develop a number of protocols used for effective delivery of nega-tive diagnostic information. However, alongside with the protocols building on this principle, alternative ways of diagnosis disclosure and patterns of diagnosis breaking are practised. The latter rest on culture specific norms, which are followed to balance the principles of non-maleficence and patient autonomy. Conclusion: The rationale behind the selection of the best approach to diagnostic disclosure has to rest not only on the dominant bioethical principle, but also align with the sociocultural norms as this is the way to ensure greater flexibility, variability and optionality and achieve better management outcomes.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the present status of automation and digitization in Andhra University, Visakhapatnam Arts College, Science College, Law College and Engineering College libraries and the challenges they pose to effective information delivery. The library professional plays a vital role in management of digital library. The paper makes a more conscious effort on library automation and implementation of digitization policies.

Implementation of ArcGIS story maps as a media information and counseling of COVID-19 in palu city

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to increase, transmission, spread, and death rates are increasing, resulting in the implementation of large-scale social restrictions on community activities in Indonesia. This high rate of transmission can be caused by poor public behavior towards prevention programs that have been announced by the Government. In order to increase public knowledge in prevention and communication and minimize the spread of COVID-19, socialization and outreach media are needed that can encourage more effective delivery and dissemination of information. Technological developments encourage the delivery of information to become more interactive. One use of technology is delivering information with spatial integration through ArcGIS Story Maps. Story Maps can be handy for spreading knowledge on several topics, focusing on where the story occurs. In this paper, we explore the opportunities offered by Story Maps to implement Story Maps as an outreach media and a solution for socializing and disseminating information during the pandemic. Specifically, we refer to a series of different applications offered by Esri for building Story Maps based on different approaches and techniques. The results of using Story Maps are in the form of presenting information, information media, and counseling in the form of an interactive map which contains a general description of COVID-19, case conditions, level of spread, and how to handle it and related regulations through the Story Maps feature. This story map involves geospatial elements, web GIS, text, images, and video so that it can be an alternative solution for related parties in socializing and disseminating information during the pandemic

Age of Information Optimization in Multi-Channel Based Multi-Hop Wireless Networks

The proliferation of IoT devices, with various capabilities in sensing, monitoring, and controlling, has prompted diverse emerging applications, highly relying on effective delivery of sensitive information gathered at edge devices to remote controllers for timely responses. To effectively deliver such information/status updates, this paper undertakes a holistic study of AoI in multi-hop networks by considering the relevant and realistic factors, aiming for optimizing information freshness by rapidly shipping sensitive updates captured at a source to its destination. In particular, we consider the multi-channel with OFDM (orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing) spectrum access in multi-hop networks and develop a rigorous mathematical model to optimize AoI at destination nodes. Real-world factors, including orthogonal channel access, wireless interference, and queuing model, are taken into account for the very first time to explore their impacts on the AoI. To this end, we propose two effective algorithms where the first one approximates the optimal solution as closely as we desire while the second one has polynomial time complexity, with a guaranteed performance gap to the optimal solution. The developed model and algorithms enable in-depth studies on AoI optimization problems in OFDM-based multi-hop wireless networks. Numerical results demonstrate that our solutions enjoy better AoI performance and that AoI is affected markedly by those realistic factors taken into our consideration.

“Philipp Lenard and Cathode Rays” - the development of comics for Physics learning

Lenard conducted a study on the photoelectron-emitted energy that varies with the intensity of the light. Lenard observed that the maximal energy of the emitted electron was independent of the light color but noted that shorter wavelength light with higher frequency resulted in increased energy of the ejected electron. Lenard received the Nobel Prize in 1905 in recognition of his contributions to the field of cathode rays. Lenard’s research on cathode rays is a historical plot that is rarely presented on the photoelectric effect material in schools. Because of these conditions, students are less interested in studying concepts and phenomena in physics. The essential criterion for captivating visual learning media is the effective and enjoyable delivery of information. One of the strategies to enhance educational outcomes is the provision of captivating alternative learning resources, such as comics. This is because comics possess the unique ability to amalgamate information, creativity, and enjoyment, so fostering an engaging learning experience. This study resulted in comics about Philip Lenard and his research on cathode rays presented as simple cartoon images. The results of user’s perceptions show that the comics produced are worthy of being an alternative learning media in schools.

THE FACTORS AND ISSUES AFFECTING FOOD LABELLING AND THE NEED FOR LABELLING DESIGN FRAMEWORK: A REVIEW

Food labelling is critical in facilitating the exchange of information about a food product between users and the food industry or system. The food label information enables consumers to understand the food better and make healthier food choices based on the food labelling information. Given the critical role of food labelling in consumer decision-making, the industry must understand how the design elements of food labelling influence the consumer's perception of food selection. Understanding consumers' perspectives and needs regarding labelling is critical for effective information delivery and thus creating a need for a labelling design framework. Therefore, this study aims to highlight the need for food labelling frameworks, issues, and factors affecting labelling from past study viewpoints. The study's findings hope to contribute to developing new food label designs that emphasise effective communication, design selection, and the application of design elements to convey ingredient and nutritional information.

Closure, trauma and the graphical imagination

ABSTRACT Notions of law and order, protecting the vulnerable and seeking vengeance arguably dominate popular comic book narratives, reflecting societal concerns about the suffering engendered by crime, deviance and acts of terrorism. Contemporary society faces threats relating to rising crime, societal alienation and the globalized nature of terrorism that have been extensively considered, examined and dissected by the comics medium. But beyond the superhero and gritty crime narratives of mainstream comics publishers, the public information comic provides a means to address these more problematic issues in a discussion-based format. Public information comics combine the entertainment-based accessible format of the comic with an effective information delivery mechanism. This article examines Laura Findlay and Zu Dominiak’s Closure which examines the nature of trauma in comics. In their discussion of this topic, Findlay and Dominiak identify the immersive nature of comics and their ability to bend time and space so that the medium can serve as a means of dealing with events that occur unexpectedly and may require time to absorb and understand.

An analysis of COVID-19 information sources

BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic has brought new situations that require the effective delivery of health information across the world and it’s important to offer clear, consistent, and credible information on the pandemic to mitigate and control the outbreak.AimTo assess COVID-19 information source, need and trust among the rural community of southwest Ethiopia.MethodsA community-based cross-sectional study design was conducted among 634 rural communities of southwest Ethiopia. The data were collected by interviewing individuals from selected households and analyzed by SPSS version 26. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to assess factors affecting information needs.ResultsRadio 484 (76.3%) was mostly used as a source of information for COVID-19, and government 404 (63.7%) and health professionals 345 (57.7%) were trusted. However, only 10 (1.6%) of the participants acquired information from health professionals. Around 395 (62.3%) of the participants needed additional information on COVID-19. Around 230 (58.2%) and 186 (47.1%) of the participants required additional information on cause and sign and symptoms, respectively. Age of < 45 years old (AOR: 2.11, 95% CI: 1.43, 3.12, P < 0.001), and absence of formal education (AOR: 2.00, 95% CI: 1.35, 2.95, P: 0.001) were factors positively affecting the information needs of the participants on COVID-19. Church goers (AOR: 3.24; 95% CI: 2.03, 5.19; P < 0.001), television (AOR: 2.39; 95% CI: 1.63, 3.49; P < 0.001) and social media users (AOR: 4.52; 95% CI: 2.26, 9.04; P < 0.001) as source of information required additional information on COVID-19, and the participants that trusted social media (AOR: 2.52; 95% CI: 1.64, 3.87; P < 0.001) and friends/relatives (AOR: 2.95: 95% CI: 1.51, 5.76; P < 0.001) were also required additional information on COVID-19.ConclusionsThe popular sources of COVID-19-related information were radio and television. The participants trusted the government and health professionals on COVID-19. However, less than 2% of the participants had information from health professionals. The majority of the participants wanted to learn more about COVID-19. The areas the participants required additional information include cause and signs and symptoms. Age, educational status, trust in social media, trust in friends, using the church, television and social media as a source were factors associated with information needs.

Using mobile health to strengthen the communication skills for effective delivery of health information in Nepal: A qualitative study of the perspectives of Female Community Health Volunteers

Background Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) play an important role in linking community members-particularly marginalised and vulnerable women and health facilities in Nepal. There has been increased use of mobile phones amongst FCHVs and their support to improve the quality of health services FCHVs provide, with positive results. Under the leadership of Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Department of Health Services (DoHS), and investment by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) via Nepal Health Sector Support Programme 3 (NHSSP 3), BBC Media Action designed and tested an innovative mobile phone-based solution that can best support FCHVs in their work as health promoters in local communities. This study aimed to examine the changes in the FCHVs-beneficiary interaction and communication since the introduction of a mobile-based intervention (Mobile Chautari). Methods A qualitative study was conducted in three districts of Nepal: Tehrathum, Darchula and Rautahat using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions with FCHVs, pregnant women and mothers with children less than 5 years old, mothers-in-law, and health facility staff. In addition, observation of Health Mothers Group (HMG) meeting was also conducted. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis. Results The mHealth intervention was acceptable to the FCHVs and the use of Mobile Chautari helped FCHVs recognise the value of communication aids and facilitate effective discussions in HMG meeting. FCHVs felt more confident when talking about health issues and communicated more effectively with diverse beneficiaries. FCHVs felt that Mobile Chautari improved their status in the communities, which also helped enhance trust between FCHVs and communities. Conclusions Mobile Chautari has the potential to strengthen the communication skills of FCHVs and bridge the gap between the FCHVs and their beneficiaries. Mobile Chautari appears to be a promising way to communicate health related information and communicate with diverse clients. In the short period the study has been able to show the potential of Mobile Chautari and how it could support positive behaviour change.

The Effect of Fear of Infection and Sufficient Vaccine Reservation Information on Rapid COVID-19 Vaccination in Japan: Evidence From a Retrospective Twitter Analysis.

BackgroundThe global public health and socioeconomic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have been substantial, rendering herd immunity by COVID-19 vaccination an important factor for protecting people and retrieving the economy. Among all the countries, Japan became one of the countries with the highest COVID-19 vaccination rates in several months, although vaccine confidence in Japan is the lowest worldwide.ObjectiveWe attempted to find the reasons for rapid COVID-19 vaccination in Japan given its lowest vaccine confidence levels worldwide, through Twitter analysis. MethodsWe downloaded COVID-19–related Japanese tweets from a large-scale public COVID-19 Twitter chatter data set within the timeline of February 1 and September 30, 2021. The daily number of vaccination cases was collected from the official website of the Prime Minister’s Office of Japan. After preprocessing, we applied unigram and bigram token analysis and then calculated the cross-correlation and Pearson correlation coefficient (r) between the term frequency and daily vaccination cases. We then identified vaccine sentiments and emotions of tweets and used the topic modeling to look deeper into the dominant emotions. ResultsWe selected 190,697 vaccine-related tweets after filtering. Through n-gram token analysis, we discovered the top unigrams and bigrams over the whole period. In all the combinations of the top 6 unigrams, tweets with both keywords “reserve” and “venue” showed the largest correlation with daily vaccination cases (r=0.912; P<.001). On sentiment analysis, negative sentiment overwhelmed positive sentiment, and fear was the dominant emotion across the period. For the latent Dirichlet allocation model on tweets with fear emotion, the two topics were identified as “infect” and “vaccine confidence.” The expectation of the number of tweets generated from topic “infect” was larger than that generated from topic “vaccine confidence.”ConclusionsOur work indicates that awareness of the danger of COVID-19 might increase the willingness to get vaccinated. With a sufficient vaccine supply, effective delivery of vaccine reservation information may be an important factor for people to get vaccinated. We did not find evidence for increased vaccine confidence in Japan during the period of our study. We recommend policy makers to share accurate and prompt information about the infectious diseases and vaccination and to make efforts on smoother delivery of vaccine reservation information.
